2) front face of the completed landfill will have a slope of

3)the ratio of solid waste to cover material is 5:1
4) vertical excavation is possible without bank collapse

4. Estimate the required landfill area for a community with a
population of 50000. Assume that the following conditions
apply
1) solid waste generation= 3.2 Kg/capita/day
2)compacted specific weight of solid waste in landfill = 400
Kg/m3
3)Average depth of compacted solid waste = 6 m
Solution:
1) Generation rate of solid waste = 50000x 3.2
= 160000 Kg/day
2) volume required = 160000/400= 400 m3
3) Area required = 400/6=66.66 m2
4) Area required per year = 66.66 x365 = 24330.9 m2 /year
