Sol And Aquara Short Story
Sol and Luna lived high in the heavens in their shimmering thrones above Terro, the earth. One day
Luna had a baby. That baby's name was Aquara. She grew up in the heavens and slowly developed
an aching love for Terro. She watched and watched, then as she grew older she decided to move to
be with Terro. They lived intertwined in everlasting love for many years, Aquara surrounding Terro
with her devoted emotion.. As time went on Sol realized a problem. He knew that he needed to have
a place for beings to live. He couldn't put beings on Terro, for he was covered in Aquara's long
draping navy blue cloak. Sol knew that the only way was to split them apart. One day Sol reached
down to Terro and Aquara, and split them apart and placed them side by side. Terro understood and
thanked Sol for letting them still be close. Aquara on the other hand, was agonized. Sol placed all
the animals down to Terro. He nurtured and nourished them as Aquara sat in silence. Finally she
broke down.
Anger and outrage struck her. Who is he to tell me what I can do?
Her body started shaking, her legs trembling, her eyes changed from a royal blue to a smoldering
red. With an ear piercing cry she shouted to the heavens. You will pay for this! you will pay!
Aquara violently rose up to the heavens, high above Terro. With a terrorizing scream, she forced ...

out across his empty land. The chirping of the birds and the roars of the lions were nowhere to be
heard. There was nothing. It was empty. Tears ran down his cheeks in agony. The color of the sky
matched Terro's feelings; A cold dark black filled the sky as Terro sat in

Darius Sol Quotes
Darius Sol is a 21 year old and goes to school at University of Michigan. He works at Hungry
Howies. He is a muscular, brown haired fairly smart man. He always wear running clothes and
running shoes. Then there is Yonald McYanington. He is the exact opposite of Darius sol. Yonald is
always wearing jeans long sleeve shirt and boots. Also Yonald has like no muscles but he is
extremely intelligent. But he still works at Pizza Hut. And these two people absolutely hate one
another. " E=mc2," monotones Mr. Johnson. " This is so stupid," complains Darius. " Excuse me Mr.

For example in Florida, there were some parents discussing issues with the board about their

Sol Lewitt Essay
Sol Lewitt, the most eminent and renowned artist was born on September 9th, 1928 in Hartford,
Connecticut to the Eastern European immigrants. His father was a doctor and an inventor. When
Solomon Lewitt was of the age of six years his father died. Thus, in the very age of life Lewitt had
to face several difficulties and challenges. His mother was a nurse at a local hospital. Soon after the
death of his father, Lewitt shifted with his mother to live with an aunt in New Britain Connecticut.
Thus, due to limited resources Lewitt was unable to be enrolled in a advanced school. However, he
had a keen interest in arts and architecture at the very early age. So his mother enrolled him to an art
class at the Wasdworth Atheneum in the same city Hartford. ... Show more content on

Lewitt usually had a team of assistants who are creating these works. Thus, presently his assistants
are seeing his works and executing by the help of many clients and other people. When analyzing
and writing about the wall drawings, the artist himself realized and observed in the year 1971 that
even drawing a line varies from person to person. Each person has different sense of understanding
so he or she will draw differently and understand a word differently. In time period of 1968 and
2007, the creations of Lewitt were more than 1270 wall drawings. These wall drawings are created
on the actual location and presented in an art exhibition. At the end of such exhibitions these
drawings are destroyed by giving these works their physical form and an innovative and fascinating
quality. It is the quality of these drawings that, their installation, removal and reinstallation is quiet
easy in various locations without much hindrances Thus, the availability of these drawings at
different exhibitions is convenient and easy at many times. When these walls are transferred and
reinstalled in other locations then their overall number may change but the areas and essence of the
original diagrams are definitely retained (LeWitt et al.,

SOL Testing In Education: A Case Study
The Sol test is an important state standardized test for the state of Virginia. However, while
preparing students to take this test teachers are forced to teach to the test and are unable to make
sure that the students have retained the information given. The need to get successful scores on the
Standards of Learning tests in Virginia causes students to have unnecessary stress. According to
Fairtest.org, ' teachers are forced to teach to the tests and short–change the rest of the curriculum
simply to raise test scores'. When the teachers are forced to teach to the test they need to fit the
requirements of the test in a short time frame. Since the teachers need to do this for the test they do
not have time during class to answer questions and discuss topics that the students need information
from to help them process it. Due to the SOL testing teachers are forced to bypass topics that are
essential to the students but, not essential to the SOL tests. This leads to students holding
information instead of memorizing information for long term applications. The SOL test should be
made by educators that teach students, since they know what should be taught, instead of board
members. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Costco Wholesale in 2008: Mission, Business Model, and Strategy
What struck you as positive and/ or negatives? Were there certain strategic elements that were
particularly insightful? Were there any glaring weaknesses that could jeopardize their success?
There are many positives that can be drawn from the way that Costco runs and controls its business.

lowest possible prices" (Thompson, Strickland, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Costco, the competitor and their targeted customers were two constituencies. How was their
strategy influenced by these parties? Did their strategy reflect adequate consideration of the needs of
these two groups? Costco's strategy was definitely influenced by its customers and its competitor.
From a competitor's standpoint Costco wanted to a provide services, prices, and products that
rivaled its competitor Sam's Club. Costco's combining of high quality and low prices id the driving
for behind Costco's success. It is evident that Sam Walton, with Wal–Mart and Sam's club played an
integral part in the way the Costco has devised its strategy. Costco's average pay, for example, is $17
an hour and is 42% higher than its fiercest rival Sam's Club. Costco's health plan also makes other
retailers look Scroogish, Costco's workers were only paying just 4 percent toward their health costs
and raised it to only 8 percent when Sam's Club and the retail average is at 25 percent (Bowmer,
2007). "Costco isn't simply looking to be better that the competition they want
Costco 4 to be demonstrably better," said John Matthews, Costco's senior vice president for human
resources (Bowmer, 2007). From the customer's standpoint Costco looks to keep increasing its
consumer base by providing low prices that aren't coming at the workers' expense, they believe this
is the key to providing a good service and good business

Looking For Little Egypt By Donna Carlton
Looking For Little Egypt
By Donna Carlton. Bloomington, IN: IDD Books, 1994. 103 pages. $14.95 paperback.
The mystique and murk that shroud the legend and disparate accounts of the mysterious Little Egypt
– who stirred up much controversy in the United States in the time after the Chicago Columbian
Exposition of 1893 – only highlights the significance of the character in the evolution of belly dance
and America's perception of it. Most historical memoirs of danse du ventre, known as belly dancing,
mention that it entered America through the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition. Concessions such
as the Algerian, the Ottoman, the Persian as well as the Egyptian incorporated belly dance to draw
crowds' attention, profiting more in the process. Because of the nature of this exotic dance and its
fluid arm and hand movements as well as isolations and shimmies of the shoulder, pelvis, abdominal
muscles and head, its exposition spread rumors all over the country. Many flocked to see it.
Nevertheless, the notorious name of Little Egypt came to be known from the Street in Cairo, owing
to the several exotic shows that attracted many Americans. Even in the twenty–first century, Little
Egypt's name is still a mystery, having become a legend that has lured many dancers.
In Looking For Little Egypt, Donna Carlton takes her readers on a journey to the Chicago
Columbian Exposition in 1893 to investigate Little Egypt's identity. During her research, she
encountered interesting stories about the

Puerta Del Sol Traditions
Who would've thought that just by eating grapes at Christmas eve would bring good luck for a
whole year. Here at Colombia such as in many Hispano American countries and Spain, exists the
tradition to eat 12 grapes at the end of the last day of the year, Christmas eve. The ancient tradition
comes back from Spain, where at new year's eve, in "Puerta del Sol" at Madrid, the ancient clock at
the mail house will chime twelve times, then people will eat 12 grapes, one for every chime of the
bell, also symbolizing good luck for 12 months of the year. The tradition was born when a group of
Madrilian citizens sat down in front of the clock as it chimed while eating grapes, to mock the
ancient tradition of the noble class and important families of saying

The identification of C–N vibrations is a very difficult task, since mixing of several bands is
possible in this region. Silverstein and Webster [18] assigned C–N stretching absorption in the

Polymer
In this study, polymer of [AgL]n was immobilized onto the surface of a glassy carbon electrode
(GCE), which leads to the efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of Dibucaine and Naphazoline. The
GCE was previously tested in PBS buffer (pH = 3) before polymer were drop coated on it. It
presented no redox process in the potential range applied. The working electrode coated with
polymer of [AgL]n was immersed in the electrolyte solution for 20 min prior to the measurement to
ensure the diffusion of the solution to the interlayer space and permit better ionic exchange. The
cyclic voltammograms were recorded for Dibucaine and Naphazoline at modified electrode and are
shown in Fig.4. As it can be seen, at the surface of the modified electrode, oxidations of Dibucaine
and Naphazoline are irreversible processes. These results indicate that the electron transfer rate is
quite slow. Such slow electron transfer kinetics is due to the electrode fouling caused by the
evidence of Dibucaine and Naphazoline and their oxidation products.
In addition, at modified electrode, oxidation of these compounds resulted in a typical

Since the consumer is indifferent among all points on an indifference curve, when moving along it
any increase in satisfaction from gaining one good must be matched by an equal decrease in
satisfaction from a loss in the other good. An indifference curve is bowed toward the origin because
the more of good x that is consumed the less you are willing to give up of good y to get more of
good x and remain indifferent. 3. What do we call the magnitude of the slope of an indifference
curve? The magnitude of the slope of an indifference curve is called the marginal rate of substitution
(MRS). The MRS measures the rate at which the consumer gives up one good to get more of another
good, while remaining on the same indifference curve (keeping the consumer indifferent about the
changes). The ratio of the quantity of one good needed to replace the quantity of the other good and
remain indifferent is the slope of the indifference curve. The bowed–in shape of the indifference

The Sol Of Self Analysis
The small, seaside town of Point Pleasant Borough, New Jersey is not exactly where one would
expect to find many adventures. Leveling out at just under twenty thousand citizens, it is a mostly
homogeneous population of white, Christian families. The kids I went to school with often referred
to Point as "The Bubble," meaning that nobody leaves our town; and the nickname holds true. My
hometown is filled with families that have lived there for generations, families that everybody
knows, because nobody leaves town. My family in particular is a prominent one in Point. My
grandparents had nine children, so every teacher I've ever had has taught at least one or two

Not much of an adventure, right? But the act of cutting my hair signified more than just a style
change. To me it was an acceptance of who I am and a statement of my individuality to the world.
Cady Stanton's "The Solitude of Self" was important to me because it advocated the importance for
women to express their individuality. Though she advocates the value of education in order to
discover this personal uniqueness, I still felt that her message related to why I cut my hair. In the
introduction to Stanton's "The Solitude of Self" the question is asked, "Why... would Stanton
emphasize that all individuals stand alone?" (Zoller 114). I feel that this question is answered by
Stanton with her statement that, "No one has ever found two blades of ribbon grass alike, and no one
will ever find two human beings alike" (Stanton 117). She is saying that it is impossible for all
humans to act and think the same way which is why it is important to embrace our individual selves
rather than conform to society's ideas on how a person should look or act. This reflects my
adventure because with my long hair I felt that my individuality was being repressed; as Stanton
stated, no two people are alike, and I felt that keeping my hair long was just some outdated
expression of how a woman should look and act. My mother thought that the me cutting my hair
was an act of rebellion, but it was not. It was just a physical expression of my individuality or, as
Stanton might say, my personal

(Costco.com, n.d.) The company uses several different methods of promoting its items, for instance,
Costco allows their customers to sample many of their products as they walk through their
warehouse. It allows customers to try a product risk–fee and many times they end up purchasing the
item because they were able to try it. As stated above, the company doesn't go all out for their
advertising; they truly feel that the word–of–mouth of their customers is the key to the company's
success. One area that Costco does pay particular attention to, are small businesses; since small
businesses are the company's primary target they make it a point to reach out and initiate
communication with businesses in the surrounding areas. Teams are sent out to recruit them by
utilizing presentations as well as offering discounted memberships for their employees. As with its
marketing strategy, location is not a priority with the company either. The word of method and low
prices will bring in the customers. Basically if they build it the members will come, the average size
of a Costco warehouses is 143,000 square feet but they vary between 73,000 to 205,000 square feet.

A Study Of Rauschenberg 's Erased De Kooning Drawing
A Study of Rauschenberg's Erased de Kooning Drawing
In 1953, Robert Rauschenberg had the idea of adding drawing to his All White Series. However,
drawing on these paintings, or anywhere, would defeat the purpose of this series, and so he came to
the conclusion that the only way he could achieve this would be through erasure. He began
experimenting with his own drawings, but still being a young artist it he didn't think it would be
considered art. For his idea to work, he thought, it had to be art that he erased. Having admiration
and respect for artist Willem de Kooning, Rauschenberg decided to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, and
go to his house. Rauschenberg explained to de Kooning his idea, and asked if he could use a
drawing of his. Reluctant, de Kooning agreed, only because he understood the idea. After looking
through his portfolios, de Kooning handed Rauschenberg a drawing that he would miss, and that
was almost impossible to erase. A month later, Rauschenberg successfully erased de Kooning's
drawing, and with the help of Jasper Johns, titled the piece in ink, and framed it. Robert
Rauschenberg's Erased de Kooning Drawing can be seen as either a minimalist piece or conceptual
piece. Through a clearer understanding of both movements, the aim of this essay is to show how this
piece could be seen as a minimal piece or a conceptual piece, and to see which movement it leans
more towards.
Minimalism has been described as "the last of modernist styles" and thus "a

EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF
NANOMATERIALS.
In order to explore novel physical properties and phenomena and realize potential applications of
nanostructures and nanomaterials, the ability to fabricate and process nanomaterials and
nanostructures is the first corner stone in nanotechnology. There exist a number of methods to
synthesize the nanomaterials, which are categorized in two techniques "top down and bottom up".
Solid state route, ball milling comes in the category of top down approach, while wet chemical
routes like sol–gel, co–precipitation, etc. come in the category of bottom up approach. Secondly,
characterization of nanomaterials is necessary to analyze their various properties. Therefore, this
chapter describes the various methods of synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials.
Characterization techniques include XRD, SEM, TEM, EDAX, UV–Visible spectroscopy, FTIR
spectroscopy, etc.
2.2. Synthesis of Nanomaterials:
Fabrication of nanomaterials with strict control over size, shape, and crystalline structure has
become very important for the applications of nanotechnology in numerous fields including
catalysis, medicine, and electronics. Synthesis methods for nanoparticles are typically grouped into
two categories: "top–down" and "bottom–up" approach. The first involves the division of a massive
solid into smaller and smaller portions, successively reaching to nanometer size. This approach may
involve milling or

materials" term is what they are called. In this case, nanocrystalline materials have grains which are
the size of < 100 nm typically. An example of nanocrystalline material of SnO2 is imaged with STM
as seen in Fig. 1 [1] and SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films as seen in Fig. 2. [2] Fig.

very useful and promising about future works and applications. The reason for the superior
properties is that nanocrystalline materials have very high number of atoms at their grain boundaries
which are in nanometer scale. Some of the properties that can be enhanced and increased by making
nanocrystalline materials rather than the coarse–grained materials are higher strength, higher
hardness, increased diffusivity, increased mechanical properties and so on [3]. This is why people

We run a tight operation with extremely low overhead which enables us to pass on dramatic savings
to our members." Jim Sinegal (corporate, 2012). Costco pride's themselves as a leading
warehouse/big box retailer. Sales volume exceeds that of their competition and they use a "consumer
first" business model. This business model is a creative way that has expanded sales. Costco has
developed additional ways to continue to save money for their customers. They did this by creating
their own brand. Costco's personal brand is 'Kirkland Signature.' Kirkland, Washington's the root of
Costco and is where their headquarters is located. Kirkland Signature brand was introduced to
Costco stores in 1995. It was designed to be equal or better quality than national brands. Kirkland
Signature products include diapers, coffee, tires, clothing, film, housewares and more.
(Priceviewer). Often, national brands are co– brands with Kirkland Signature products. Some
manufactures realize the success and power of Costco and have agreed to manufacture products with
the Kirkland Signature label. Some companies include Hanes and Whirlpool. (Branch, 1999).

Nice guys can finish first, the success story of Jim Sinegal
This paper is an attempt to capture the unique leadership style of Jim Sinegal, the CEO and co–
founder of Costco and how his approach to managing one of the world?s largest retail stores has
made him so successful. We will take a look at his humble upbringing as the son of a steel worker in
Pittsburgh and how his first job at a retail warehouse influenced him to pursue a career in retail
sales. We will also try to answer questions like, how do you grow a company from one store in 1983

(Costco Annual Report, FY14). Costco has become the second largest retailer in the United States
and the third largest in the world.
Self Awareness In an interview with the New England Journal of Entrepreneurship, Sinegal is
quoted as saying ?When I was 18, I had the good fortune to work for and be trained by a gentleman
who had the highest sense of integrity and values. That rubbed off. It was part of my whole business
acumen if you will, my education in business, and this was the right course of action.? (Davis &
Sinegal, 2008). The gentleman Sinegal was referring to was Sol Price, the founder of FedMart and
Price Club who is considered a pioneer of warehouse retail stores. Sinegal worked his way up the
corporate ladder at FedMart, starting out in the warehouse and eventually working his way to vice
president in charge of merchandising and operations. During his time at FedMart Sinegal realized
his dream was to own a warehouse retail store of his own. Sinegal felt confident that he could be
successful as an owner and manager based on the mentorship and training he had received from Sol
Price over nearly 20 years working for him. Sol Price?s simple approach of using integrity and
values to run a business would become the key to Sinegal?s success.

Costco offers amazing benefits not only for full–time employees but for part–time employees, as
well. They cover 90% of health care costs for both full–time employees and part time employees.
Full–time Costco employees can decide from two different health care options: a Choice Plus plan
and a Freedom of Choice plan. They can choose their own medical services, physicians and facilities
with these plans. A similar plan like Choice Plus is available for part–time employees, also. Full–
time Costco employees may also choose from two different dental plans: a core dental plan, which is
offered to part–time employees, and a premium dental plan, which allows for more freedom of
choice. Costco also offers a pharmacy program because of their in–house pharmacies, which make
is easy to pick up prescriptions at work. Employees' co–payments can be as small of an amount as
$5 for generic medications and usually will never run any more than 15% co–pay for the most
expensive branded drugs. Optical centers are also conveniently located in Costco warehouses
making it easy for employees to access. The vision program for employees pays up to $60 toward a
refraction eye exam and annual allowances are provided for the purchase of correctional lenses. Not
only are there stellar health benefits at Costco but financial benefits as well. A 401(k) plan was
created to help employees plan for a cozy retirement. Costco

Sol Lewitt
Although the idea of an artist creating work beyond their death might seem like a ludicrous thought
to some, in reality, one might be surprised to find that the work of Sol LeWitt is still being
manufactured after his late death in 2007. During the 1960s, Lewitt proposed the revolutionary
claim that an idea itself could be art. Today, Lewitt's legacy still manages to challenge the notion
that art must physically manifest into an object. LeWitt's conceptual art abolishes the art as an object
as well as the artist's physical labor in creating the artwork as intrinsic to the definition of art.
Furthermore, his framework separates human agency from the mechanical aspects of actually
making the work. In spite of what most people think, not all art is the unique product of a
disciplined master. While many may argue that Lewitt created juvenile simple pieces, this artist
actually introduced very complicated issues of authorship and authenticity into the conversation of
art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As he said in his Sentences on Conceptual Art, "I will refer to the kind of art in which I am involved
as conceptual art. In conceptual art the idea or concept is the most important aspect of the work.
When an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it means that all of the planning and decisions are
made beforehand and the execution is a perfunctory affair. The idea becomes a machine that makes
the art." When LeWitt first made his wall drawings in 1968, he demonstrated how art could be
approached in a systematic and objective manner. In this body of work, LeWitt establishes ideas that
are translated into written instructions. In doing so, the various compositions of lines, colors, and
shapes, conceived by LeWitt become executable by anyone

The Process Of Sol-Gel Processing
Sol–gel processing is prevented by nanomakes particles which causes pores surface with controlled
pore size ranging from few nanometers to tens of nanometers to allow biomolecules loading. The
dynamic light scattering (DLS) particle size analyzer (Malvern Instruments, Malvern, UK) will be
used for size characterization, polydispersity index (PDI), and the zeta potential of SHMNCs. In
addition, SHMNCs can be visualized by scanning electron micrograph (SEM) method (Fig. 9 B–C).
The Number of pores on each SHMNC can be varied by changing the ratio of masks and interior
templates molar concentration [23].
Synthesize of SHMNCs is illustrated in (Fig. 9): 1. Mixing of positively charged amine–
functionalized polystyrene beads (available at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, different size of SHMNCs need to be fabricated (Table 2). The pores size on the surface of
SHMNCs are controllable by choosing different nanomasks' diameter. The size of each pore will be
approximately around 25–35% of nanomask diameter. For instance, using 100, 60 and 40 nm
nanomasks diameter, result mesoporous of 30±4, 20±3 and 12±2 nm in diameter, respectively [23].
The pore size should not be smaller than the maximum length of enzyme which needs to be loaded
in SHMNCs. Here, since the maximum size of enzyme is 12.2 nm (CaMKII), the pores size cannot
be less than 12 nm. Therefore, the 40 nm nanomask is the smallest nanomask that will be applied to
create SHMNCs.

Research Proposal: Optimum Enp For Oil Spill Remediation.
Research Proposal: Optimum ENP for Oil Spill Remediation
Literature Review Summary and Knowledge Gap
Oil spill contains crude oil, small amount of heavy metal, refined and unrefined petroleum
oil(Intertek, 2015). Due to these toxic chemicals, oil spill is an environmental issue and needs great
attention because of its adverse effective in aquatic life and ecological balance. Use of nanomaterials
in oil spill remediation is a novice approach. Oil and water separation requires technology with
unique wettability, super hydrophobic and oleophilic surface property. This can be achieved with
surface modification using nanoparticles. These types of modified nanomaterials will be able to
absorb oil or toxic organic compounds from the contaminated ... Show more content on

The nanowire will be coated with a layer of silica gel and TiO2. This modified ENP will have
selective adsorption ability, wide range of oil absorption capacity. It will have magnetic property for
quick treatment in the contaminated area (In–situ treatment). The research will also involve in large
scale in–situ implementation method that show little to no toxic effect due to the synthesized ENP.
Workplan
ENP Synthesize
The research will start with synthesizing the ENP with three functional property. A MnO nanowire
will be grown by hydrothermal method. The nanowire will have a Fe3O4 core and MnO shell. A
silica gel coating will be on the nanowire followed by a TiO2 coating using sol–gel method.
Characterization
The characterization of the synthesized ENP will be done using X–ray diffraction, transmission
electron microscopy (TEM), and high resolution–TEM respectively(Stefan et al., 2014). The
stability test and surface tension will be calculated using DELVO equations. The composition of the
sample will be characterized with Energy Dispersion X–ray(EDX). The characterization will also
involve testing the magnetic property. The magnetic force will be determined with simple weight
balance and digital caliper(Gomes de Souza, Marins, Rodrigues, & Pinto, 2010). The weight
variation with a neodymium N42 magnet (external Gauss strength and energy density equal to 13.2
kG and 42 MG · Oe, respectively) will be used for magnetic force measurement using F_m= ∆mg.

The Synthesis Of Nmofs And Other Ligand And Metal...
NMOFs from the Gd and BHC shows that it is possible to process unique NMOFs from the same
ligand and metal combinations by utilizing the multipurpose metal–ligand coordination modes.
The solvothermal approach for the synthesis of NMOFs was reported by two scientists. In their
research, they avidly investigated the transformation of the particle morphology during the synthesis
process. They added N, N–phenylenebis (salicylideneime) dicarboxylic acid solution which was in
DMSO to DMF solution which composed of two equivalents of Zn (OAc) 2. They observed that one
equivalent of zinc ions coordinates to the pocket of the salena and the remaining zinc ions
equivalent coordinates to metalloligands. They further heated the resulting solution at 120℃ for
thirty minutes. As the heating proceeded they discovered that the nanowires were changing into
nanocubes through the intrastuctural fusion and accumulation. They discovered that by varying the
reaction conditions they were capable of tuning the cubes' sizes. The smaller nanoparticle cubes
were obtained by reducing the solubility of the nanowires via application of poor solvent mixture or
lowering their temperatures.
Uses of the nanometer–sized coordination polymers
It is well known that nanometer–sized coordination polymers can be manufactured from diverse
organic bridging ligands and metal ions, therefore, can be used to made different materials with
exceptional characteristics and composition (Chen et al. 228; Schoemer et

What Are The Critiques Of The SOL Test?
"Students continue to improve on Virginia's statewide tests" talks about the Standards of Learning

is similar to the Common Core State Standards. The SOL is a high–stakes series of exams that
assess the students understanding of the required curriculum across core subjects such as reading,
writing, social science, mathematics, and science. Virginia students begin taking SOL exams in third
grade until they graduate high school (Balingit, 2016). Students must pass at least six of the end–of–

Alexandria City schools are behind statewide passing rates. The population of Alexandria City
schools consists of sixty percent of their students qualifying for free and reduced–price meals and
almost thirty percent were English language learners. The gap between ethnicities is becoming a
concern of state officials. Overall, more than half of English language learners failed to pass the
English writing SOL. Black students had an increase in their scores, however, they are still below
the statewide passing rate and below White students. Another reliability issue would be that different
districts are not performing the same, which may be attributed to their population. In contrast to
Alexandria schools, Northern Virginia performed better than other students in the state and their
passing rates remained steady (Balingit, 2016). Students may receive different levels of instruction
based on the classroom or district, which may pose a threat to the reliability, validity, and fairness of
the scores. The article mentioned that the scores may be improving because teachers are more
accustomed to the state exams. Teachers may be adapting their classroom lessons and formative
assessments as well as feeling more comfortable with the content (Balingit, 2016). This implies that
teachers may be teaching more to the test and narrowing their curriculum, which would make the
score interpretations not valid. The scores might not be reliable

provided by the co–founder and former CEO, Jim Sinegal, whose employee–first focus is the basis
for Costco's leadership theory (Ruggeri, 2009). Additionally, his focus helped to create and maintain
organizational commitment through a stable organizational culture (Organizational Behavior, 2014).
Desjardins (2005), describes Sinegal as having leadership traits that include self–esteem, integrity,
openness, conscientious, extraverted and agreeable. His self–esteem, openness, conscientiousness,

Why Sols Should Be Banned
Sols should be banned because they cause lots of stress during them and preparing for them.
Another reason why SOLs are bad is because they give only a small amount of time to study
everything you have learned all year. One other reason is you have to take a bunch of test before the
SOL to see how you might do on the test. These reasons are why I am going to convince you that
SOLs should be banned. For starters, let's face it SOLs cause so much stress on the teachers and the
students. There is a lot of stress and anxiety during the entire school year to make sure students are
even ready to take these tests. The stress these cause can really make a student feel like they are not
smart and not fitting in. This is because students have to answer trick questions that are different
than the kind they have to answer is class. Also, because the SOLs are long and boring which causes
more anxiety because you see other students worry about it too. You also get stressed when some
people are already finished before you. Next I am going to talk about another reason why SOLs
should be banned. You first start getting all these review packets only a few weeks before the tests
but you get them for a bunch of classes at once. The problem is most people can not remember most

Science And Technology Of Designing
Nanotechnology, which is one of the new technologies, is the science and technology of designing,
constructing and creating of novel nano–scale structure, 1nm to 100 nm in size, with huger quality,
novel performance properties, along with fewer defects compared with those of the bulk material
(Siqueira et al., 2010). An increasing interest from the scientific community to work with materials
in nano metric scale has been observed since the introduction of the concept of nanotechnology by
Richard Feynman in 1959. The last decade has seen advancement in every side of nanotechnology
such as nano particles and powders, nano layers and coats, electrical, optic and mechanical nano
devices, and nano structured biological materials (Bhattacharyya et al., 2009). Nanoscale structures
permit the control of fundamental properties of materials without changing the materials' chemical
status (Murphy et al., 2011). There are two general ways available to produce nano materials, as
shown in the following figure 18. The first way is to start with a bulk material and then break it into
smaller pieces using mechanical, chemical or other form of energy (top–down). An opposite
approach is to synthesis the material from atomic or molecular species via chemical reactions,
allowing for the precursor particles to grow in size (bottom–up). Both approaches can be done in
either gas, liquid, supercritical fluids, solid states, or in vacuum (Dastjerdi and Montazer, 2010).

Sol Four: A Short Story
In Sol 4, on a small mining colony planet by the name of Rodrion, there was a watering hole that
boasted much–welcomed reprieve to the laboring miners that resided there. They were far better off
than the large majority of their peers in other Sols. Most of the established mining colonies in the
galaxy were nearly depleted of their resources. The miners on these planets, often the fifth or sixth
generation of their family's miners living on that planet, did not have many ways to earn money now
that their jobs had become little more than sifting through dirt and water for small traces of valuable
metals and praying for luck to strike. They lived in small huts and shanties near where they worked
because they couldn't afford to live in a real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The remaining eighteen were armed to the teeth with standard RTSS–issued laser rifles, pistols and
fission grenades capable of small–scale nuclear detonation. Nine of them were definitely synths
because they wore heavy armor, while the other nine were obviously human because they only wore
the standard RTSS–issue fatigues that offered no protection; a statement about the monetary value of
a synth versus a human's life. The little man had his hands up with a knowing smirk on his face.
"Am I who you're looking for?" He chuckled. The leader of the group, one of the heavily armored
synths, stepped forward and said, "Little man, do not impede our search or we will use lethal force.
That is the only warning." "Sir, I'll have you know that I am the sole owner and proprietor of this
fine establishment here and I will have you know that I find it slanderous and outraging that you
allege that I would harbor criminals in this morally upstanding whore house. But, if you and your
friends would be interested in a bit of pussy or maybe a drink or two..." The synth didn't let Shylock
finish as he bashed his head with the butt of his rifle. He straightened it out and took aim at the
man's bloodied face. He primed the trigger and the sound of the gun heating up, preparing to fire
filled Shylock's heart with dread.

Surface Attachment Essay
Surface attachment of the biological elements: Fiber Optic Sensor for bio–sensing has an important
part which is to attach biological elements with the sensor surface. The easiest way for this is
surface fictionalization for the biological elements coat. Aminosilane, Polylysine, and nitrocellulose
or epoxy saline are being used in the case of glass silicon chips. This process can bond the biological
agent some of its examples are fixed with layer by layer. Polymer coatings charge with the
deposition. There are there the main ways for the chemical and physical entrap. Hydro gel is used
most of the time is sol–gel. Silicate monomers of polymerization are generated with glassy silica.

This can happen in the situation where ion channels embedded in the support of the tethered bilayer
membranes. This always attached with the electrode that is of gold, as a result, the electrical circle
comes into existence. The molecules that are being captured for example antibodies to control the
flow of the ion and this binds the target molecule, this control on the flow is through a channel. As a
result of the electrical conduction which is proportional to the target that was being set before the
experiment?
Reagentless fluorescent biosensor: A reagents fiber optic sensor for bio–sensing in the complex
situation of the biological mixture can monitor the analyte. If this is immobilized on the solid
support then this can function properly. This fiber optic sensor for biosensors reacts in the situation
of interaction with the analyte that was targeted with the change of the properties of the
fluorescence. After that, the targeted sequence will be base paired by the hybridization probes and
this will generate an optical signal. The principle of transduction which is favored employed has
optical detection in this kind of biological sensor. The measurement of this interaction is through the
bio transducer which gives a signal that is measurable and is proportional to the sample which is in
the presence of the analyte that is targeted. The purpose behind the design of Fiber Optic Sensor for
biosensing is to create a quick testing that is convenient to the point of

Summary Of To Abide By Sol Lewitt
3, To abide by Sol LeWitt's conception of creating geometric shapes and detailed line drawings, I
create a detailed line drawing. Lines in the drawing are disciplinary, which two lines crossed are like
"L", so many different "L" lines form regular forms. To follow the most significant rules of the
conception, straight lines must be crossed from corner to corner, or you can draw nothing in one
square. Although this method is simple to follow, if you tend to create a visual shape, you should
plan how different lines to be regularly drawn before start to do it. 2, Vera Molnar uses simple
geometric lines or shapes to create regular images and then the original images can change their
forms. Although the original shapes are shown simplly, through

Uncle Sol
I am analyzing a poem by E. E. Cummings called "nobody loses all the time". I think on the surface
this is just a poem about a pretty unfortunate, average guy with not the best luck, but there are a lot
of hidden messages in the poem. For example, the main character is Uncle Sol. The word "sol"
means sun, which is clearly an important symbol. Though Uncle Sol's "farm / failed because the
chickens / ate the vegetables" (16–18), Uncle Sol was not viewed as a failure through the chickens'
eyes. His farm wasn't a complete failure because at least it was of use to someone. It was only a
failure in the eyes of business success–oriented humans. This is the same situation with the skunks–
the chickens may have died, but they went to good use because

Sol And Aquara Short Story

  • 1. Sol And Aquara Short Story Sol and Luna lived high in the heavens in their shimmering thrones above Terro, the earth. One day Luna had a baby. That baby's name was Aquara. She grew up in the heavens and slowly developed an aching love for Terro. She watched and watched, then as she grew older she decided to move to be with Terro. They lived intertwined in everlasting love for many years, Aquara surrounding Terro with her devoted emotion.. As time went on Sol realized a problem. He knew that he needed to have a place for beings to live. He couldn't put beings on Terro, for he was covered in Aquara's long draping navy blue cloak. Sol knew that the only way was to split them apart. One day Sol reached down to Terro and Aquara, and split them apart and placed them side by side. Terro understood and thanked Sol for letting them still be close. Aquara on the other hand, was agonized. Sol placed all the animals down to Terro. He nurtured and nourished them as Aquara sat in silence. Finally she broke down. Anger and outrage struck her. Who is he to tell me what I can do? Her body started shaking, her legs trembling, her eyes changed from a royal blue to a smoldering red. With an ear piercing cry she shouted to the heavens. You will pay for this! you will pay! Aquara violently rose up to the heavens, high above Terro. With a terrorizing scream, she forced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She hadn't slept in forever and quickly fell asleep. Tears ran down his cheeks in agony. The color of the sky matched Terro's feelings; A cold dark black filled the sky as Terro sat in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He always wear running clothes and running shoes. Then there is Yonald McYanington. He is the exact opposite of Darius sol. Yonald is always wearing jeans long sleeve shirt and boots. Also Yonald has like no muscles but he is extremely intelligent. But he still works at Pizza Hut. And these two people absolutely hate one another. " E=mc2," monotones Mr. Johnson. " This is so stupid," complains Darius. " Excuse me Mr. Sol," bellowed Mr. J, " I feel this is not stupid but fun" " Well you're suppose to think this fun, you're the one teaching advance science," " Yeah but ummm umm umm," " You ... • 5. Should Schools Get Rid Of Sols? Should Schools Get Rid of SOLs In 2002 a new bill called the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act introduce a new norm in schools: the SOLs. Within the NCLB Act the SOLs are made to showcase how schools should be performing and if the students are grasping the material being taught. Now, fast forward to 2016 schools still have SOLs, but there have been some problems along these years. There are discussions on if SOLs are too much for children, are the schools too pressed to keep their accreditation they will do anything to keep the schools running, but the most daring question is should schools get rid of SOLs altogether. Due to some of these issues SOLs should not be in schools anymore and something else has to take its place. One of the issues is SOLs putting too much stress on children, the answer is yes. SOLs have increasingly gotten harder every year, and children have the pressure of just passing it or failing it and risk not progressing to the next grade. For example in Florida, there were some parents discussing issues with the board about their children used to like school, but due to the testing they don't want to go to school. One parent broke down in tears about the stress and is thinking about taking their child out of public school to homeschool her/him because of SOLs. Consequently, there have been countless stories of children taking Xanax to cope or even having to go to the emergency room due to stress related incidents. Let's examine the list of students who ... • 7. Sol Lewitt Essay Sol Lewitt, the most eminent and renowned artist was born on September 9th, 1928 in Hartford, Connecticut to the Eastern European immigrants. His father was a doctor and an inventor. When Solomon Lewitt was of the age of six years his father died. Thus, in the very age of life Lewitt had to face several difficulties and challenges. His mother was a nurse at a local hospital. Soon after the death of his father, Lewitt shifted with his mother to live with an aunt in New Britain Connecticut. Thus, due to limited resources Lewitt was unable to be enrolled in a advanced school. However, he had a keen interest in arts and architecture at the very early age. So his mother enrolled him to an art class at the Wasdworth Atheneum in the same city Hartford. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lewitt usually had a team of assistants who are creating these works. Thus, presently his assistants are seeing his works and executing by the help of many clients and other people. When analyzing and writing about the wall drawings, the artist himself realized and observed in the year 1971 that even drawing a line varies from person to person. Each person has different sense of understanding so he or she will draw differently and understand a word differently. In time period of 1968 and 2007, the creations of Lewitt were more than 1270 wall drawings. These wall drawings are created on the actual location and presented in an art exhibition. At the end of such exhibitions these drawings are destroyed by giving these works their physical form and an innovative and fascinating quality. It is the quality of these drawings that, their installation, removal and reinstallation is quiet easy in various locations without much hindrances Thus, the availability of these drawings at different exhibitions is convenient and easy at many times. When these walls are transferred and reinstalled in other locations then their overall number may change but the areas and essence of the original diagrams are definitely retained (LeWitt et al., ... • 9. SOL Testing In Education: A Case Study The Sol test is an important state standardized test for the state of Virginia. However, while preparing students to take this test teachers are forced to teach to the test and are unable to make sure that the students have retained the information given. The need to get successful scores on the Standards of Learning tests in Virginia causes students to have unnecessary stress. According to Fairtest.org, ' teachers are forced to teach to the tests and short–change the rest of the curriculum simply to raise test scores'. When the teachers are forced to teach to the test they need to fit the requirements of the test in a short time frame. Since the teachers need to do this for the test they do not have time during class to answer questions and discuss topics that the students need information from to help them process it. The mystique and murk that shroud the legend and disparate accounts of the mysterious Little Egypt – who stirred up much controversy in the United States in the time after the Chicago Columbian Exposition of 1893 – only highlights the significance of the character in the evolution of belly dance and America's perception of it. Most historical memoirs of danse du ventre, known as belly dancing, mention that it entered America through the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition. Concessions such as the Algerian, the Ottoman, the Persian as well as the Egyptian incorporated belly dance to draw crowds' attention, profiting more in the process. Because of the nature of this exotic dance and its fluid arm and hand movements as well as isolations and shimmies of the shoulder, pelvis, abdominal muscles and head, its exposition spread rumors all over the country. Many flocked to see it. Nevertheless, the notorious name of Little Egypt came to be known from the Street in Cairo, owing to the several exotic shows that attracted many Americans. Even in the twenty–first century, Little Egypt's name is still a mystery, having become a legend that has lured many dancers. In Looking For Little Egypt, Donna Carlton takes her readers on a journey to the Chicago Columbian Exposition in 1893 to investigate Little Egypt's identity. Here at Colombia such as in many Hispano American countries and Spain, exists the tradition to eat 12 grapes at the end of the last day of the year, Christmas eve. The ancient tradition comes back from Spain, where at new year's eve, in "Puerta del Sol" at Madrid, the ancient clock at the mail house will chime twelve times, then people will eat 12 grapes, one for every chime of the bell, also symbolizing good luck for 12 months of the year. The tradition was born when a group of Madrilian citizens sat down in front of the clock as it chimed while eating grapes, to mock the ancient tradition of the noble class and important families of saying ... What do we call the magnitude of the slope of an indifference curve? The magnitude of the slope of an indifference curve is called the marginal rate of substitution (MRS). The MRS measures the rate at which the consumer gives up one good to get more of another good, while remaining on the same indifference curve (keeping the consumer indifferent about the changes). The ratio of the quantity of one good needed to replace the quantity of the other good and remain indifferent is the slope of the indifference curve. Within the NCLB Act the SOLs are made to showcase how schools should be performing and if the students are grasping the material being taught. Now, fast forward to 2016 schools still have SOLs but there has been some problems along these years. There are discussions on if SOLs are too much for children, are the schools too pressed to keep their accreditation they will do anything to keep the schools running, but the most daring question is should schools get rid of SOLs altogether. Due to some of these issues SOLs should not be in schools anymore and something else has to takes its place. One of the issues is SOLs putting too much stress on children? The answer is yes. To me it was an acceptance of who I am and a statement of my individuality to the world. Cady Stanton's "The Solitude of Self" was important to me because it advocated the importance for women to express their individuality. Though she advocates the value of education in order to discover this personal uniqueness, I still felt that her message related to why I cut my hair. In the introduction to Stanton's "The Solitude of Self" the question is asked, "Why... would Stanton emphasize that all individuals stand alone?" (Zoller 114). I feel that this question is answered by Stanton with her statement that, "No one has ever found two blades of ribbon grass alike, and no one will ever find two human beings alike" (Stanton 117). She is saying that it is impossible for all humans to act and think the same way which is why it is important to embrace our individual selves rather than conform to society's ideas on how a person should look or act. This reflects my adventure because with my long hair I felt that my individuality was being repressed; as Stanton stated, no two people are alike, and I felt that keeping my hair long was just some outdated expression of how a woman should look and act. My mother thought that the me cutting my hair was an act of rebellion, but it was not. It was just a physical expression of my individuality or, as Stanton might say, my personal ... • 35. A Study Of Rauschenberg 's Erased De Kooning Drawing A Study of Rauschenberg's Erased de Kooning Drawing In 1953, Robert Rauschenberg had the idea of adding drawing to his All White Series. However, drawing on these paintings, or anywhere, would defeat the purpose of this series, and so he came to the conclusion that the only way he could achieve this would be through erasure. He began experimenting with his own drawings, but still being a young artist it he didn't think it would be considered art. For his idea to work, he thought, it had to be art that he erased. Having admiration and respect for artist Willem de Kooning, Rauschenberg decided to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, and go to his house. Rauschenberg explained to de Kooning his idea, and asked if he could use a drawing of his. Reluctant, de Kooning agreed, only because he understood the idea. After looking through his portfolios, de Kooning handed Rauschenberg a drawing that he would miss, and that was almost impossible to erase. A month later, Rauschenberg successfully erased de Kooning's drawing, and with the help of Jasper Johns, titled the piece in ink, and framed it. Robert Rauschenberg's Erased de Kooning Drawing can be seen as either a minimalist piece or conceptual piece. Through a clearer understanding of both movements, the aim of this essay is to show how this piece could be seen as a minimal piece or a conceptual piece, and to see which movement it leans more towards. In order to explore novel physical properties and phenomena and realize potential applications of nanostructures and nanomaterials, the ability to fabricate and process nanomaterials and nanostructures is the first corner stone in nanotechnology. There exist a number of methods to synthesize the nanomaterials, which are categorized in two techniques "top down and bottom up". Solid state route, ball milling comes in the category of top down approach, while wet chemical routes like sol–gel, co–precipitation, etc. come in the category of bottom up approach. Secondly, characterization of nanomaterials is necessary to analyze their various properties. Therefore, this chapter describes the various methods of synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials. Characterization techniques include XRD, SEM, TEM, EDAX, UV–Visible spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, etc. 2.2. Synthesis of Nanomaterials: Fabrication of nanomaterials with strict control over size, shape, and crystalline structure has become very important for the applications of nanotechnology in numerous fields including catalysis, medicine, and electronics. Synthesis methods for nanoparticles are typically grouped into two categories: "top–down" and "bottom–up" approach. • 39. Nanocrystalline Materials Essay Introduction To explain nanocrystalline materials, it should have been explained that "nano" concept at first. Nanostructures are relatively new and interesting subject to investigate, they are in a scale which is between 0–100 nanometers (1 nanometer, nm is equal to 10–9 meter). There are some types of nanostructured materials such as lamellar (1–dimensional), filamentary (2–dimensional) and crystallites (3–dimensional). If grains of the material are made up of crystals, then "nanocrystalline materials" term is what they are called. In this case, nanocrystalline materials have grains which are the size of < 100 nm typically. An example of nanocrystalline material of SnO2 is imaged with STM as seen in Fig. 1 [1] and SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films as seen in Fig. 2. [2] Fig. 1. STM image of nanocrystalline SnO2 [1] Fig. 2. SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films. [2] In nanocrystalline materials there are numerous superior properties which actually are very useful and promising about future works and applications. The reason for the superior properties is that nanocrystalline materials have very high number of atoms at their grain boundaries which are in nanometer scale. Some of the properties that can be enhanced and increased by making nanocrystalline materials rather than the coarse–grained materials are higher strength, higher hardness, increased diffusivity, increased mechanical properties and so on [3]. Today, Lewitt's legacy still manages to challenge the notion that art must physically manifest into an object. LeWitt's conceptual art abolishes the art as an object as well as the artist's physical labor in creating the artwork as intrinsic to the definition of art. Furthermore, his framework separates human agency from the mechanical aspects of actually making the work. In spite of what most people think, not all art is the unique product of a disciplined master. While many may argue that Lewitt created juvenile simple pieces, this artist actually introduced very complicated issues of authorship and authenticity into the conversation of art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As he said in his Sentences on Conceptual Art, "I will refer to the kind of art in which I am involved as conceptual art. In conceptual art the idea or concept is the most important aspect of the work. When an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it means that all of the planning and decisions are made beforehand and the execution is a perfunctory affair. The idea becomes a machine that makes the art." When LeWitt first made his wall drawings in 1968, he demonstrated how art could be approached in a systematic and objective manner. In this body of work, LeWitt establishes ideas that are translated into written instructions. In doing so, the various compositions of lines, colors, and shapes, conceived by LeWitt become executable by anyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Process Of Sol-Gel Processing Sol–gel processing is prevented by nanomakes particles which causes pores surface with controlled pore size ranging from few nanometers to tens of nanometers to allow biomolecules loading. The dynamic light scattering (DLS) particle size analyzer (Malvern Instruments, Malvern, UK) will be used for size characterization, polydispersity index (PDI), and the zeta potential of SHMNCs. In addition, SHMNCs can be visualized by scanning electron micrograph (SEM) method (Fig. 9 B–C). The Number of pores on each SHMNC can be varied by changing the ratio of masks and interior templates molar concentration [23]. Synthesize of SHMNCs is illustrated in (Fig. 9): 1. Mixing of positively charged amine– functionalized polystyrene beads (available at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, different size of SHMNCs need to be fabricated (Table 2). The pores size on the surface of SHMNCs are controllable by choosing different nanomasks' diameter. The size of each pore will be approximately around 25–35% of nanomask diameter. For instance, using 100, 60 and 40 nm nanomasks diameter, result mesoporous of 30±4, 20±3 and 12±2 nm in diameter, respectively [23]. The pore size should not be smaller than the maximum length of enzyme which needs to be loaded in SHMNCs. Here, since the maximum size of enzyme is 12.2 nm (CaMKII), the pores size cannot be less than 12 nm. Therefore, the 40 nm nanomask is the smallest nanomask that will be applied to create SHMNCs. NMOFs from the Gd and BHC shows that it is possible to process unique NMOFs from the same ligand and metal combinations by utilizing the multipurpose metal–ligand coordination modes. The solvothermal approach for the synthesis of NMOFs was reported by two scientists. In their research, they avidly investigated the transformation of the particle morphology during the synthesis process. They added N, N–phenylenebis (salicylideneime) dicarboxylic acid solution which was in DMSO to DMF solution which composed of two equivalents of Zn (OAc) 2. They observed that one equivalent of zinc ions coordinates to the pocket of the salena and the remaining zinc ions equivalent coordinates to metalloligands. They further heated the resulting solution at 120℃ for thirty minutes. As the heating proceeded they discovered that the nanowires were changing into nanocubes through the intrastuctural fusion and accumulation. They discovered that by varying the reaction conditions they were capable of tuning the cubes' sizes. The smaller nanoparticle cubes were obtained by reducing the solubility of the nanowires via application of poor solvent mixture or lowering their temperatures. Uses of the nanometer–sized coordination polymers It is well known that nanometer–sized coordination polymers can be manufactured from diverse organic bridging ligands and metal ions, therefore, can be used to made different materials with exceptional characteristics and composition (Chen et al. 228; Schoemer et ... Virginia students begin taking SOL exams in third grade until they graduate high school (Balingit, 2016). The gap between ethnicities is becoming a concern of state officials. Overall, more than half of English language learners failed to pass the English writing SOL. Black students had an increase in their scores, however, they are still below the statewide passing rate and below White students. Another reliability issue would be that different districts are not performing the same, which may be attributed to their population. In contrast to Alexandria schools, Northern Virginia performed better than other students in the state and their passing rates remained steady (Balingit, 2016). Students may receive different levels of instruction based on the classroom or district, which may pose a threat to the reliability, validity, and fairness of the scores. The article mentioned that the scores may be improving because teachers are more accustomed to the state exams. Teachers may be adapting their classroom lessons and formative assessments as well as feeling more comfortable with the content (Balingit, 2016). This implies that teachers may be teaching more to the test and narrowing their curriculum, which would make the score interpretations not valid. The scores might not be reliable ... Another reason why SOLs are bad is because they give only a small amount of time to study everything you have learned all year. One other reason is you have to take a bunch of test before the SOL to see how you might do on the test. These reasons are why I am going to convince you that SOLs should be banned. For starters, let's face it SOLs cause so much stress on the teachers and the students. There is a lot of stress and anxiety during the entire school year to make sure students are even ready to take these tests. The stress these cause can really make a student feel like they are not smart and not fitting in. This is because students have to answer trick questions that are different than the kind they have to answer is class. Also, because the SOLs are long and boring which causes more anxiety because you see other students worry about it too. You also get stressed when some people are already finished before you. Next I am going to talk about another reason why SOLs should be banned. Science And Technology Of Designing Nanotechnology, which is one of the new technologies, is the science and technology of designing, constructing and creating of novel nano–scale structure, 1nm to 100 nm in size, with huger quality, novel performance properties, along with fewer defects compared with those of the bulk material (Siqueira et al., 2010). An increasing interest from the scientific community to work with materials in nano metric scale has been observed since the introduction of the concept of nanotechnology by Richard Feynman in 1959. The last decade has seen advancement in every side of nanotechnology such as nano particles and powders, nano layers and coats, electrical, optic and mechanical nano devices, and nano structured biological materials (Bhattacharyya et al., 2009). Nanoscale structures permit the control of fundamental properties of materials without changing the materials' chemical status (Murphy et al., 2011). There are two general ways available to produce nano materials, as shown in the following figure 18. The first way is to start with a bulk material and then break it into smaller pieces using mechanical, chemical or other form of energy (top–down). An opposite approach is to synthesis the material from atomic or molecular species via chemical reactions, allowing for the precursor particles to grow in size (bottom–up). Both approaches can be done in either gas, liquid, supercritical fluids, solid states, or in vacuum (Dastjerdi and Montazer, 2010). Figure 18: Illustration of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
