There were two pieces of text I recently read, one is This is water by David Foster Wallace, and
the other is Letters to a young poet by Rainer Maria Rilke. I will be discussing the contrast
between these two texts and tell the audience what they were precisely thinking about. For
Wallace, his passed commencement speech to share advice to people who here at a college

sociological imagination and sociological perspective to question the obvious in order to recognize
the opportunities and constraints in our lives through the connection of personal aspects of an

Functionalist, Conflict, Symbolic Interaction) were discussed during the lecture and were applied

orientations used by sociologists are positivist sociology, interpretative sociology and critical

qualitative research and focuses on subjective realities and tries to understand what people do

Crazy Blues by Noble Sissle is a cover of the song originally written by Perry Bradford. This
timeless piece of history was first recorded on August 10th, 1920 by Mamie Smith and later
released on as a vinyl record by Okeh Records.3 Smith s version of the song was wildly
successful, selling 75,000 copies in the first month following its release. Within a year, the record
had sold over a million copies, and in all, two million copies were purchased.4 After its incredible
success, recording companies rushed to record other African American singers. Noble Sissle s
version was recorded later that same year, and had similar success. Despite the large quantity of
blues recordings during the 1920 s, Crazy Blues is considered the first successful blues song
recorded by an African American artist.9 Ironically, Crazy Blues is considered more of a
popular song than a blues song despite many references to blues throughout the track.
Nevertheless, this song paved the way for black music makers into a then predominately white
recording industry, and quickly after its release, a market for black music emerged. Perry Bradford,

The presence of stereotypes and prejudices existed from a long time ago along with the human
history partially often deeply integrated with religion or social status. In 21st century, people are
facing with many different stereotypes and prejudices either directly or indirectly. Stereotype is a
generalized belief or assumption towards some specific groups or people by the defined attributes
or characteristics. Stereotyping can foster prejudiceand shape people s point of views and

Abstract: Optogenetics has been used to show that activating a specific ensemble of hippocampal
neurons that contribute to a memory engram can erase or even alter a memory. The purpose of
the study was to use optogenetics and the addition of an external stimuli to try and create a false
memory. Neurons of mice were labeled with a light sensitive channel during the exploration of a
safe room. Mice were then placed in a new room and given foot shocks while simultaneously using
light pulses to activate the neurons that had been previously labeled in the safe room. After being
placed back into the safe room, mice exhibited freezing responses. A false memoryof fear was
created in these mice as they demonstrated freezing behavior in the room in which they had not
been shocked. Multiple methods have been used to manipulate neuronal pathways, and the fact that
so many different methods already exist suggest a bright future for the discovery of a method that
can be beneficial to humans. Understanding how the hippocampusfunctions is essential to
understanding how psychological diseases affect memory, and this procedure has the potential to be

All of us have had one. You know, that one date we wish would have never happened. That one
date that we only tell to another soul after several weeks of mulling it over in self doubt as to
whether or not you should ever speak of it again, or just let it listlessly fade from memory. For
me, this date happened on July 6, 2007 ironically, about two weeks before I met the woman who
is presently my wife. Alison and I had met online. With my busy work schedule, it made it
impossible for me to find a girl the traditional way, and so a buddy of mine helped me create an
online profile with OkCupid. The website was actually quite fun to play around with as it had
some user quizzes, and a pretty interesting profile building experience. As suggested by the

Each year income increases in the United States. Economic inequality and political inequality may
have a connection where our democracy could be affected but americans have the ability to solve
this problem. Economic inequality refers to wealth or income between different groups or a

been seen since 1928. In 1928, the top 1% of families received 23.9% of all pretax income, while
the bottom 90% received 50.7%. But the Depression and World War II dramatically reshaped the
nation s income distribution, by 1944 the top 1% s share was down to 11.3%, while the bottom
90% were receiving 67.5%, levels that would remain more or less constant for the next three
decades. But starting in the mid to late 1970s, the uppermost percent income share began rising
