2. Women
Our particular thriller could represent women as
weak and pitiful, which is a stereotype that is
used a lot in thriller movies. She could also be
represented as reliant on men, as it was a male
that untied her and therefore allowed her
release. However, she could also be represented
as strong and powerful as she has escaped and
is planning to discover how she got to where she
is.
3. Men
At the beginning of our thriller, what looks to be
a man comes into the room and unties our
protagonist. It is unclear if he was the person
who put her there in the first place or if he was
just untying her die to kindness. Therefore he
could either be represented as a thug and
violent or someone who has a conscience and
cares for our heroine. As our thriller uses the
enigma code a lot, it is up to the audience to
decide how the male is represented.
4. Teenagers/Young Adults
Again, this social group can be represented in a
number of different ways. The protagonist could be
seen as a trouble maker as she has been taken for a
reason and therefore must have done something
for the consequence to be that severe. She could
then be represented as someone who is dangerous.
However, she could also be represented as
someone who has been caught up in circumstances
that are beyond her control and therefore is
powerless to do anything. This makes the audience
feel pity towards her. Again, this representation
would be further developed as the film continued.
5. Class
It is unclear as to what class our protagonist is.
However, there are some clues, the fact that she is
wearing tattered clothes, not wearing shoes and
her use of profanity. This could suggest that she is
from a working class background. This may hint that
she is more of a troublemaker, however this is
highly stereotypical. On-the-other-hand, the house
that she is being held in is very suburban and would
be something that someone who was middle class
would own. This shows contrast in our thriller.
