• Social media useful at creating lots of positive buzz.

Have a Conversation:
• Social media is not a megaphone.
• You Must Talk AND Listen.
Lessons Learned:
• Start the conversation.
• Don’t wait for negative comments to use it.
• Don’t delete negative comments -- answer them.
• Engage your campers and staff frequently.

Growth Strategy: Ask people to do something for you.
• Visit your website
• Sign up for email newsletters
• Share or comment on Facebook
• Retweet a post on Twitter
Lesson Learned:
• Your fans WANT to hear from you.

Blog
• Update at least once a week
• Write compelling headlines:
• (how-to, 5 things to bring, etc.)
• Include one picture or graphic with every blog post
• Share every new blog post across all social networks,
with a link back to the blog post

• Upload a new video at least once a week
• Create useful videos that help people
• how-to videos
• answers to frequently asked questions
• Reply to emails by recording the answer on your
webcam or smartphone, upload it to YouTube, then
reply to the email with a the link to the video
• Keep the videos simple

• Connect your Google+ profile to your YouTube channel
• Connect your Google+ business page to your business

• Add people to your circles
• Share content as often as possible each day (content
you produce and great content you discover)
• Consider using a Google Hangout for your next webinar

• Share something at least once a week
• Post photos rather than links. Put links in description
of the photo
• Keep your posts short. 1-2 sentences plus a link
• Encourage Facebook page fans to do something, such as
share your page, like your photo, or leave comments

• Consider paid ads and sponsored posts

• Consider more posts on that topic
• Referral traffic
• Which social media platform is sending the most
users to your website? Focus more on that platform
• Use Facebook Insights to see which Facebook posts
had the highest engagement, then create more posts
similar to that topic
