Attracting customers is all about having a really good fitting Jean (Drapers Record, 6/3/04)
Levis can use the engineered technology as a basis to promote a Jean that is a perfect fit.
2.3.3 Price
By placing this product at the top end of their price bracket, Levi s will add perceived value to the
new jeans, emphasising the benefits of this product.
2.3.4 Period
Denim has been widely predicted to be a strong trend in Spring/Summer
2005 (Drapers, 27/7/04) . Levi s should launch the new product in the middle of this season, as the
look is taking off, ensuring that the date is not to close to the launch of a new range of Jeans from
Calvin
Klein, also to be launched in this season (www.wgsn.co.uk 27/8/2004)
2.3.5 Promotion
With the exception of some recent Printed Adverts, Levis have not advertised an women specific
product since 1996 (Foster, 03/2004).
Levi s are not currently attracting the target segment for this new product, so it will be important to
produce a strong promotional campaign that makes the consumer aware of how the engineered
Jeans have developed.
Younger Consumers are definitely influenced by the presence of celebrities (Mintel, 04/03)
Celebrity endorsement is a strategy that has worked for Gap (www.wgsn.co.uk,

The Social Perception Of A Hollywood Movie Star Gone Dark
I want to live fast and die young. Many celebrities live by these words and follow them as an
unspoken desire for personal satisfaction and gratification. While many have risen to fame and
glory, only to lose their spurious fortunes amongst the squalor of human indecency, one man will
always drunkenly pratfall into the social perception of a Hollywood movie star gone dark; Chris
Farley. Christopher Crosby Farley, definitely did not have a normal life, but it was not
necessarily a bad one. He had a catholic upbringing with an upper middle class family from
Wisconsin, a decent education, an active, if not healthy social life, a job which generated millions
of dollars for him by doing what he loves, and every time he walked into a room the... Show more

His father owned an oil company, and his mother stayed at home to take care of the home and
children. When Farley was in school he never really felt like he fit in, he was the the awkward
fat kid in class who would do anything to get a laugh out of someone. He assumed that people
were going to laugh at him anyways so he might as well make it big and make it funny. In one
instance, he got up as a teacher was finishing a lecture and mooned the entire class, exposing his
rear and causing him to almost get kicked out of school, but the authorities thought the incident
so innocently funny that he was let off the hook. He loved to play sports in and out of school,
while he may not have been any good, he still showed ferocious devotion and an exaggerated
intensity when in the game. He was always huge for his age, but he was surprisingly athletic in
comparison, this showed off and on the stage when he performed his own stunts, or clumsily fell
onto a table, as he regularly did on movies and television. He grew into his teen years a sweet
charitable fool who partied harder than he made people laugh, which was in no way insignificant.
He studied theater and communications at Marquette University, and graduated in 1986. After he
graduated he went on to Second City Theatre in Chicago, the place where one of his biggest Idols,
John Belushi, got his start. In that theater, the legend known as chris farley took his first step into
stardom, and immediately

Techniques In Of Mice And Men
And will there be rabbits, George? Yeah, Lennie. There ll be rabbits.
There is a certain curse attached to the most familiar lines in literature. Because we know them so
well, we tend to smile when we encounter them, and they can break the reality of the story they re
trying to tell. What stage Hamlet has not despaired of getting through To be, or not to be? in one
piece?
In John Steinbeck s novel Of Mice and Men, made into an enduringly popular movie, the lines
about the rabbits have became emblems for the whole relationship between George and Lennie
the quiet spoken farm laborer and the sweet, retarded cousin he has taken under his arm. I would
not have thought I could believe the line about the rabbits one more time, but this movie made me
do it, as Lennie asks about the farm they ll own one day, and George says, yes, it will be just as
they ve imagined it.

Pakistan s Economic Performance oer the Last 20 Years
Pakistan s economic performance over the last 20 years
Introduction
PAKISTAN S RECENT HISTORY
In the last 20 years, Pakistan has oscillated between 3 personalities Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif,
and Gen. (retd.) Pervez Musharraf. The current President, Asif Zardari, it can be argued, is in power
mainly because he was the husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, although he has come into his own
over the last two years.
Benazir and Sharif were both Prime Minister for two terms each, with each ending the other s term,
citing incompetency and unfitness to rule. In October 1999, General Pervez Musharraf seized
control of the country and the focus of power in Pakistan shifted towards the President. In 2008, he
resigned after pressure from the newly elected government of the PPP the legacy of Zulfiqar Ali
Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and now her husband, Asif Zardari.
While the political turmoil and uncertainty of the last two decades has left the public with
weakened wills and a spiteful distrust of politicians, the country as a whole moves ever on. The
purpose of this report is to examine the progress (or in some cases deterioration) of various
indicators of economic health; and in the limited understanding of the authors, present a view of
why the particular trend is seen.
INDICATORS WHAT WHY
Economic indicators are important statistics one can use to measure the economy, and in a sense

The Findings After Testing Quantized Inertia On The Emdrive
The purpose of this article was to report the findings after testing quantized inertia on the EmDrive.
The authors predicted that the thrust produced by the EmDrive can be explained assuming that the
inertial mass of the photons is caused by unruh radiation. Multiple experiments took place in several
independent labs, and produced results that were similar to the predicted values for thrust. The
computations of the results did not sufficiently model wave oscillations in 3D, thus the authors
recommend further testing in order to produce more accurate findings.
The text is formatted as a journal article and has been peer reviewed. It was published on August
31, 2015, in Europhyiscs Letters, a journal founded in 1986 by the European Physical Society. The
article references multiple sources that are also academically reliable.
This source will be used to introduce one of the current theories attempting to explain how the
EmDrive produces thrust. The article also addresses the lack of scientific explanation which will
help to prove my own credibility in the report as I address a multitude of theories. Because the
article was published recently I will likely introduce this source last.

My Observations of Classrooms
Description of Class Setting
I was given permission to conduct my child study project in PAP community Foundation (Bukit
Batok East Education Centre) by Miss Denise Lim, principal of the centre. The teacher present at
all my observation sessions was Miss Moriah. All the observation sessions were conducted in a
classroom setting in the Hibiscus room. The first two observation sessions were at least an hour
long with 15 20 minutes of frontal teaching and another 40 to 45 minutes of classwork in their
group tables. The last session was carried out in the same setting but at a different timing with half
an hour of snack time and half an hour of emotional awareness session. The frontal teaching part
was carried out with the students seated in their groups on the floor facing the teacher and the
whiteboard. Students were assigned to carry out their classwork at three different group coloured
tables namely, red, yellow and blue.
Description of class
The class consists of 15 to 16 Kindergarten two students. All of them are 5 to 6 year olds. 5 of the
students are Indians, 5 are Chinese, 3 are Malay students. and 2 are Filipinos nationals.
Background of child
The child was selected and issued the parent s consent form the day before session 1. Before the
class started, I spoke to the teacher, Miss Moriah privately and learnt more about the background
of Jiang Rui Zhi, the child under study. He is a 6 year old boy who has migrated from China to

Development Of A Nation s Development
By definition development means the act or process of developing; growth; or progression . The
world s nation states are commonly categorized based on their state of development; nations who
have reached the end state, that being developed, are colloquially termed as developed nations or
first world nations . In contrast, nations working towards this end state are referred to as developing
nations or third world nations . However obvious or apparent these designations may seem, the
constituents affecting the status of a respective nation s developmentis quite convoluted. What
qualifications do developed nations hold over developing nations; what does it mean exactly to be
developed or developing. The process of development is dynamic, and so is the system by which
nations received their designation. A series of indicators, institutions and measures are used to
assess the state of a nation s development; historically, these indicators have varied throughout time
and space.
Development theory has been largely presupposed to the fact that the only institutions of
importance were those directly expediting market activity. Directly following World War II, the
health of a nation was predominately based off its gross domestic product (GDP). This view of
the market as the magic bullet dominated the social construct of development; however, this
paradigm began to shift come the late 1980s/early 1990s. This archaic way of thinking has now
expanded to explore new theories of

History Of The Quebec Act
The Quebec act was an act established in 1774. The act of Quebec was passed by the British
Parliament to institute a permanent administration in Canada replacing the temporary government
created at the time of the Proclamation of 1763. With this act the British had high hopes of
restoring the French form of Civil law. The British hoped to win over the French Canadians by
giving them more land and rights such as to use of their own laws and freedom to practice their
own religion. The Quebecact can be described as an act used to make more effective provision for
the Government of the province of Quebec in North America. Of the many things, the British hoped
to achieve Expansion of territory to take over part of the Indian Reserve which was happening
around 1763, states to include what is now southern Ontario, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio,

long Seven Year war, including the Treaty of Paris around 1763, many former French subjects
became British subjects. With the many issues the British were having in the 13 Colonies Stamp
Act, Declaratory Act, Regulator Movement, etc. the British feared that the French in Canada would
support the colonists in the 13 Colonies. Therefore, leading to the Quebec Act which ultimately
became what can be considered a preventative measure: to protect the peace, knowing if the French
Canadians were happy and felt included in the new government, The French Canadian would be

The Readiness for Entrepreneurship Training Project
The name of project is the Readiness for Entrepreneurship (RE) . The RE program helps the
targeted people who are unemployed, and are interested in starting a business at the local level (for
cities or counties). Once applicants are selected by objective criterion, the admitted applicants are
eligible to get education of specific skills for six months or one year. The period of training will be
depending on the area of establishment. In addition, the applicants may have financial supports
after the education and interviews. Also, there is a strict condition when they start a new business:
they should open a business within their administrative boundary (at least within in the neighboring
counties). Several conditions will be considerable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, economic growth is determined by the ratio of necessity entrepreneurship and opportunity
entrepreneurship. Following his argument, if unemployed people start new businesses, the
phenomenon is considered as necessity entrepreneurship. It can be inferred that there is a highly
positive relationship between necessity entrepreneurship (self employment) and a number of
unemployed. As the supply push effect of unemployment, Koellinger Thurik (2012) find that rising
unemployment can cause new start up activities. By using the Granger causality analysis, they
conclude that entrepreneurship is often an escape route for people who have lost their jobs to
make a living (Koellinger Thurik, 2012: 1149). It is not surprising that there is empirical evidence
showing that necessity entrepreneurship is hard to success. Necessity entrepreneurship and people
who experience a long term unemployment tend to be considerably less satisfied with their
businesses (Block Koellinger, 2009). The low satisfaction can be explained by motivation
(aspiration) and the decision process itself. In particular, the authors specifically explain the
reasons: necessity entrepreneurship usually lost an opportunity of free will, and it leads to low
satisfaction. Hence, it is reasonable to expect that if unemployed people have an opportunity to
prepare their startups through learning relevant skills and knowledge

What Is The Mood Of The Poem Valentine By Carol Ann Duffy
The poem, Valentine, by Carol Ann Duffy, is the epitome of how conventional love and events
such as Valentine s Day is pure asinine and downright ludicrous. She illustrates this by utilising a
myriad of literary techniques, such as symbolism, imagery and word choice; in order to reveal the
realities of love. It can be disputed that Duffy allows her readers to fathom the enigmatic feeling
known as love through Valentine. Duffy s coherent use of language features help depict and
accentuate this in Valentine, by enabling her readers to feel a sense of sincerity rather than the
cliched ethereal facade which is masqueraded in sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Throughout the poem, Duffy utilises the use of symbolism to compare love to an onion. This
symbolises, that although love is said to be euphoric, it can also provoke tears. An example of
this can be seen in lines 7 and 8 where Duffy says, It will blind you with tears like a lover. By this,
she means that onions contain a strong chemical in which causes us to cry when we cut them;
similar to when we are crying over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is especially evident in lines nine and ten where she says It will make your reflection a
wobbly photo of grief. This is implying that onions bring anguish and discomfort whilst being
cut which causes us to cry. Their chemical compound causes tears and when crying, everything
we see appears wobbly. From this example, the author makes the reader visualise a grimaced face
of tears and grief whilst looking at their reflection which appears wobbly. The word photo implies
an ephemeral moment that was captured, the word wobbling allows us to assume that tears were
spilt causing their vision to become hazy, hence leaving behind a wobbling photo of grief. Yet
again, Duffy has managed to make effective use of a language feature in order to change the
readers perception of

Analysis Of Are You Somebody
The final scene of Nuala O Faolain s memoir Are You Somebody has several aspects that differ
from as well as are similar to the endings of the other Irish works we have read in class. Unique to
Are You Somebody, the memoir does not conclude with a complete resolution. She also begs for
the reader s pity, which the other authors with even worse situations do not resort to. However, her
memoir also has numerous aspects in common with the other works. Similar to Bonaparte in The
Poor Mouth and O Connor in An Only Child, O Faolain looks outward toward her future. However,
similar to McGahern All Will Be Well, she also reflects on her past. Although the authors all face
different situations, they are overall very similar in how they respond to their fate in the finalscenes
of their works. Several aspects of O Faolain s memoir s ending set it apart from the other works. In
contrast to the definitive nature of the endings of the other books, the final chapterof Are You
Somebody leaves readers hanging. The memoir concludes as she spends a Christmas day without
family, only being surrounded by her dog. She reflects on her past and poses questions to herself
regarding the choices she could have made in the past. She asks, What happened? (177), and How
can you persuade yourself to accept your fortune? (178). Questioning herself like this shows that she
is uncertain about her prior decisions, present situation, and is apprehensive about her future.

Speech On Deep Sea Fishing
There s nothing like deep sea fishing! First, there s the solitude and peace you find when you re out
in the ocean with your best buds. Then there s the mental game, the strategy of finding, baiting, and
winning the prize. It s a challenge where success can truly change the life of the fisherman. And
failure is no failure at all you ve still had hours of peaceful, glorious communion with the mother of
nature, the mysterious ocean.
If you re thinking of doing some deep sea fishing, there are a few things you should know before
you go:
1. Grow sea legs!
The quickest way to spoil a deep sea fishing adventure is sea sickness. It s a form of motion
sickness, dominated by nausea, vomiting, and vertigo. To avoid sea sickness, stay away from...

So if you spot a group of any of these, there are likely to be some tuna nearby. Found in tropical
and sub tropical waters, yellowfin are a prize catch due to their speed and strength. They re a
challenging catch that s delicious too.
6. Burn the braid
Deep sea fishers use spiderwire because it s like a spider s web it s easier to feel when a fish takes
the bait. But sometimes, it s hard to cut. If you re having trouble cutting a spiderwire braid, try
burning it with the flame of a lighter or match.
7. Seek the reef
The best place to find the best deep sea fish is near a reef. Many coastal cultures get up to 25% of
their food from reefs. Reefs are natural nurseries for many ocean species, and wherever the tiny
ones live, the big ones search. Another plus is the great diversity of species you ll find near a reef.
8. The Circle Hook
Circle hooks are widely used by deep sea fishers. They re a type of fishing hook that is circular,
sharply curved. The circle hook has a greater success rate at hooking fish, and it does less damage
to gills and fins. So, if you want to catch and throw back, you re more likely to help your catch
survive the adventure.

Argumentative Essay On Student Athletes
Student Athletes There is a quote that goes, I can t tell you the key to success, but the key to
failure is trying to please everyone. To understand this quote is to understand the paradox that is a
student athlete. Why was the term student athlete ever created in the first place? Is it truly possible
to be successful as a student and an athlete? How does a student athlete gage whether an extra hour
of practicing their respective sport is more important than an hour of studying for a class? The
NCAA labels all student athletes as amateurs and has adopted rules of amateurism in order to obtain
a quality educationand to make sure student athletes are competing equitably (Amateurism 2014).
Can this be so when the NCAA generates billions of dollars in revenue off the backs of these so

are not very challenging or conflict with practice time. How is an athlete that is considered a

scholarships if they do not perform up to par athletically regardless of academic standing. Now
some may argue that it is the athlete s fault that they did utilize the free education provided to them,
but many schools recruit athletes who fit the mold of a superstar but incapable of doing college

Summary Of The Guitarist By Pablo Picasso
While visiting the Dallas Museum of art I saw many pieces of art and many different names of
the artist. Some of the artist I recognized and even more that I didn t. One artwork that I found
very extraordinary was The Guitarist by Pablo Picasso 1965. It s a unique oil on canvas
painting that has dimensions overall of 76 x 38 3/16 in. (1 m 93.04 cm x 96.98 cm). The
Guitarist is located under European Art 20th Century on the 2nd level. It is apart of The Karl
and Esther Hoblitzelle Collection and was gifted by the Hoblitzelle Foundation. This fine art has
many remarkable qualities to be discussed, more than just it being created by Picasso. Such as
him almost always making artwork with an intent for the viewers to interpret the deeper meaning.
He I able to do this by incorporating elements of art and principles of art in order for us to decipher
the message. In this formal essay, we will discuss how he used those elements and principle in The
Guitarist, along with biographical and contextual evidence for further understanding.
Pablo Picasso is well known for creating paintings that are considered to be abstract. He distances
the images he draws from anything of the natural world. The Guitarist is no stranger to this
concept. He s able to create this abstract art, by again, using elements of art; starting with his
unique use of lines. In this particular artwork, he uses contour lines; he draws an object as though

A Study On Mode Choice Modeling
CHAPTER II LITERATURE STUDY
2.1 Mode choice
Mode choice is the willingness of a person to prefer one mode of transport over the other when
given various alternatives comprising different attribute values. Here, attributes are the factors
which impact the mode choice such as their socio economic characteristics, trip characteristics and
available transport characteristics.
2.1.1 Theories for mode choice modeling
Mode choice modeling is conventionally done based on discrete choice model; here the discrete set
of alternatives is given and one must be chosen. This model is based on choosing an alternative
with maximum utilization or say choosing a mode which provided the maximum utility to the user.
This utility can be found out with the attributes having an impact on mode choice. The relationship
between the attributes and mode choice gives a value to each attribute which shows the dependency
of choosing a particular mode on that attribute. The utility equations are generally represented as
linear equations; the coefficients of each attribute is taken as its weight representing its relative
value or importance in the utility equation and hence, their contribution in mode choice.
Deterministic and Probabilistic Choice Theory: The user chooses a mode as per the utility
function but there can also be some unpredictable behavior which can influence the choice. If the
choice of a person in a modal is taken as rational and he chooses a mode with maximum utility; the
model is

Mayor and the dentist, instead he opens readers imagination. The narratortells the story by
describing the environment and behaviors of main characters. After the Mayor entered Escovar
s office, Marquez wrote, It was a poor office: an old wooden chair, the pedal drill, glass case with
ceramic bottles. (Marquez, 109) The descriptions of items in Escovar s office symbolize the
stereotype life of middle class. The narrator does not compare with the Mayor s office, however,
readers are able to aware the difference between different classes based on their common sense. If

Beach Erosion In Virginia Beach
Erosion has the ability to ruin large buildings or simply be an inconvenience to someone. Erosion
happens gradually and it happens by wind or water breaking pieces of an object. Humans are said
to have made the process faster. We are tearing trees and dirt and replace it with infrastructure.
Tearing down nature makes erosionmore liable. Since we have learned how we speed up erosion
and how erosion is bad for our creations, we can use that knowledge to know how to handle those
problems. First of all, farmers or gardeners acknowledge erosion and take into consideration of
how to deal with it. When farmers or gardeners plough their plants, the topsoil can easily be
eroded with wind or run offs. This can create problems for local streams or for the soil. People
learned to use other plants like bushes to counter wind erosion, also know as windbreak .... Show

If any architecture is structured poorly, erosion can easily contribute with destroying it.
Architects have to design a building in a way that will be sturdy to complications like erosion.
Lastly, in Virginia Beach, shoreline erosion is a main issue that is hard to counter. A temporary
way to manage beach erosion is by beach nourishment . Beach nourishment is replacing sand, that
was lost by erosion. It a controversial solution, but it is one of the most popular way to solve
beach erosion. It is impossible to stop erosion altogether because it is a natural occurrence.
Fortunately, humans have figured ways to handle erosion and even to use it to our advantage at
times. Without erosion the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and the
Niagara Falls would not exist. Erosion may be troublesome to people, but erosion was not meant for

How Charles Dickens Portrays the Murder of Nancy in Oliver Twist
Oliver Twist was written by Charles Dickens. He was born on February 7th 1812in Landport
which is situated in Portsmouth, England. He worked in a blacking factory where shoe polish is
produced and Dickens job was to paste labels to the bottles of polish. The working conditions
then were dreadfully poor, He was doing this job when he was 12 years old which meant that in
those days children had little childhood where they can have fun like nowadays. This was the
same age when Oliver worked in the workhouse and because Dickens had experienced working in
poor conditions when he was young he made the book more dramatic and more real life ... Show

Stereotypes, Prejudice, And Prejudice
In recent discussions of American Born Chinese, a controversial issue has been whether
Yang represents the stereotype successfully on his book or not. On the one hand, some argue
that he go a little off from his main point from his book. From this perspective, many people
found the book that it is not good enough to read. On the other hand, however, others insist that
Yang did a great job on representing stereotypes, which makes his book very powerful and
interesting to read. In the words of one of this view s proponents, I had heard about stereotypes,
but never really fully understood them. This book has taught me to at least get a little grasp on the
pain and hurt that stereotypes can really cause. (Printz p.g 11). According to this view, many
people really got the meaning of stereotypes by reading American Born Chines. In sum, then, the
issue is whether Yang represents the stereotypes well enough in his book or not. My own view is
that Yang successfully stated stereotypes in his book that made it a powerful book. After, all, I have
chosen to identify as a college student at Winona State University. Though I concede that Yang
could ended his book differently to make it more interesting, but I still maintain that he stated the
stereotype successfully because he made it clear enough to the reader to see the stereotypes from
the text and images and using three different stories in the same book. Combining texts and images

In an interconnected world, social and economic catastrophe in one country spills over onto its
neighbours (Chauvet, et al., 2007, p. 3). Failing States are often blamed for housing terrorist
groups and transnational criminal enterprises, for the proliferation of small weapons, the spread
of infectious disease, and endangering global energy security (Patrick, 2007; Lynch, 2016). They
also account for a disproportionate amount of civil wars around the world and large number of
refugee movements (Chauvet, et al., 2007). Outside countries, and agencies alike often find
themselves intervening in the affairs of failing states to prevent failure from crossing boundary
lines. On occasion the collapse of one administration can initiate a domino effect in neighbouring
countries. The recent Arab Spring is one of the greatest examples of a spillover or domino effect
in recent history (de Blij, et al., 2014). What began as an act of protest by a young Tunis man

established autocratic administration had diffused to nearby countries, and Libya, Syria, Yemen,

Personal Opinion Regarding Education and High Taxes
I was in fourth grade, and we used paper and pencil. Then we switched to the flip program. I liked it
but now we have to raise taxes to keep it. We don t even need it! I Think we should get rid of flip,
because if we kept flip we would have to raise the taxes, kids need to learn how to research with a
bookwhen they need it, they need to get used to using pencil and papermore than typing, and it will
increase the chances of cyber bullying. Taxes these days are high enough, and raising the taxes
even more will not help at all. The more the taxes we have to pay the slower the economy moves
and the higher unemployment. Besides, our tax system grows too progressively already! If we
raise the taxes even more it COULD cause fights over taxes being too high.Think about the
people who barely have enough money to pay for their taxes already. Us raising it would make it
worse. It could even effect you! A democracy is three wolves and one sheep voting on what s for

It s no secret to those who know me that I love Pilates. In fact, I ve written about it a few times in
the past (and probably will again). In today s post, I share with you some of my journey toward
healing, and ways in which Pilates is a useful, therapeutic tool to help you on your road to recovery.
The word challenging does not even begin to describe the starting point of my health struggles.
For years, I battled an ever growing list of strange symptoms until a doctor diagnosed me with
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 2010. Despite doing everything right all that my doctor told me to
do my body became frailer by the day, and weight inexplicably dropped from my 5 foot 6 inch

Here are five ways Pilates can help you heal from Lyme Disease.
1. Pilates helps reconnect your mind and your body.
You might feel as though your body has betrayed you, and like you have no control over what s
happening to you. Pilates gently helps you find a mind body connection where you are in charge of
the muscles you utilize through a concept known as concentration.
When you focus or concentrate, your attention on the muscles working during an exercise, you
become aware of just how much each muscle is working. By using your mind to direct, your body s
actions, you are in charge; you make the movement happen.
A consistent Pilates practice enhances your understanding of this mind body connection and allows
you to see that although many things may not be in your control, you still have the power to make
specific changes to movements that feel right to you. Knowing that your mind and body can work
together to help you heal is a very encouraging thought.
2. Pilates helps balance the

a. Both. Based on what is presented. She has JVD an indication of right sided failure because the
heart is unable to pump the massive amount of fluid coming from the body to the right side of the

because of the A fib, it is not being pumped efficiently.

As per CIA handbook, Since 2003, Brazil has steadily improved macroeconomic stability,
building up foreign reserves, reducing its debt profile by shifting its debt burden toward real

The Heritage Of The Past
The heritage of the past is the seed that brings forth the harvest of the future. Stemming from the
words of Wendell Phillips, the acknowledgement and practice of heritage nourishes its ever
growing roots. The recognition of heritage in Alice Walker s Everyday Use and Seamus Heaney s
Digging, approach the nourishment of heritage in different ways. Heaney diversifies the heritage of
a father and grandfather digging in the potatofields, through an identity as a poet, by digging with a
pen. However, Walker recognizes heritage through the heirlooms of quilts made by a grandmother,
but rebels against the heritage by fulfilling a new identity. Heaney and Walker acknowledge and
revere heritage, but favor deviating identities. In Digging by Seamus Heaney, the speaker s memory
is sparked by the sound of his father gardening below his window, while at his desk preparing to
write. He begins to recall memories as a young boy, of accompanying his father to dig for potatoes
in the fields. The speaker further recalls a more distant memory of his grandfather cutting turf. The
speaker has fond memories of the hard working men in his family. He also recalls helping out as a
child by picking potatoes that his father had dug from the ground and bringing his grandfather milk
while he worked. The speaker shows admiration and respect for their hard work upon his
reminiscence. Furthermore, by reminiscing about the tradition of the men in his family, the speaker

The Upside Of Down Syndrome

The Upside of Down syndrome
Down syndrome is a common chromosomal disorder that is caused by abnormal cell division
resulting in extra genetic material from Chromosome 21. Down syndrome occurs frequently in that
1 out of 800 babies are born with this disorder. Those born with Down syndrome tend to experience
specific physical characteristics, cognitive impairments, mental and medical help problems.
Down syndrome is extremely special to me because I grew up with an aunt who has this disorder.
My aunt Lisa is beautiful, funny, outgoing, and smart. She lives and enjoys life as it is thrown to
her. Some days are harder than others, but she is 62 years old and refuses to let her disability
hinder her life. Down syndrome is not who she is, but something she has.
Dr. John Langdon Down was an English physician who had a strong calling towards mental
retardation and was the first to describe what he felt was someone with Down syndrome. He based
his findings off of distinct characteristics. Before this syndrome got the name Down syndrome he
used the term Mongloid due to the similarities that were shared in the Mongolian race. It wasn t
until later when they determined the cause of Down syndrome, which is an extra chromosome.
Therefore making Down syndrome a chromosomal disorder. This condition is characterized by a
combination of major and minor differences in body structure. Typically, doctors are able to

Education has longed to be a part of this countries foundation and unfortunately for a long time
there has been differing opinions about the standards and curriculum of public education. And for
as long as American have fought the culture wars, they have debated the role of education, the
institution most essential to ensuring the reproduction of national identity. (Hartman, 2013) This

Blanding s Turtle Populations
By comparing the observed heterozygosity of two Blanding s turtle populations, it was determined
that Area 1 had significantly greater observed heterozygosity than Area 2. The lower observed
heterozygosity found in Area 2 may have been caused by the founder effect, resulting in a loss of
genetic variation. The founder effectoccurs when a new population is established by a small group
of migrants from a larger population. The founder effect involves a random sampling of alleles
during the reproduction of consecutive generations; when a small population is isolated, it may
amplify the loss of genetic variation as individuals may become increasingly genotypically similar
after each subsequent generation. Eventually, the alleles may become fixed... Show more content on

Population bottlenecks occur when a population undergoes a large reduction in size as a result of
environmental events or human activities. As a result, genetic variation may decrease as certain
alleles may be over presented, under presented, or completely absent. Consequently, the genetic
variation may continue to decline throughout subsequent generations as smaller populations, with
less genetic diversity, sexually reproduce, passing on a limited amount of genes to future offspring.
Furthermore, heterozygosity in these populations may decrease as a result of inbreeding.
Inbreeding occurs when two closely related individuals reproduce; inbreeding may cause the
accumulation of homozygous recessive genes and a decrease in genetic variation. Additionally,
infrequently occurring alleles, rather than common alleles, may face a greater chance of being lost,
which may further decrease the level of genetic diversity. As the population continues to decline,
the genetic drift may be intensified as a result of increasing genetic limitations. Similarly, Rubin et
al. (2001) compared smaller, isolated populations of Blanding s turtles found in the Greater
Chicago area to larger populations found in Michigan, Nova Scotia and Wisconsin, and determined,
by using amplified polymorphic DNA, that the smaller populations had a loss of genetic variation

turn something in, write on a paper covered wall, etc). I have little to no fidgeting problems or
issues with attention loss. (Gonzalez). the first thing that needs to happen for Albemarle
teachers to successfully create a flexible classroom is: The teacher must have a vision for his or
her room. He/she must be willing to say, I m going to throw out some of this stuff. I don t need
this traditional schooling equipment. When kids move around the room, it allows them to feel
more at home. Think about it, when kids are at home doing homework, they aren t sitting at a
desk. They are either at the kitchen table, couch, in their bed, or on the floor. They aren t sitting
at a desk sitting on a hard chair. They more than likely can sit more comfortably while doing
work at home vs when they are at school. The students can have a choice of clipboards, the floor,
end tables, coffee tables to write on when they re moving around the classroom (Gonzalez). This
makes it easier for the students to write when they re getting comfy around the room. The
average attention span of an eight year old is 6.26 seconds (Ismall). So clearly, that doesn t give a
lot of time to engage a kid and get them involved in an activity. The key to getting a student
involved, is keeping them interested. If a child isn t interested, they aren t going to try very hard

Relationship Between Secure Attachment And Self Esteem Essay
The relationship between Secure attachment and self esteem in adults Kathryn O Dwyer 30323696
Federation University Abstract The attachments you create with parents when you are younger are
very important for the relationships you experience later in life; and the self esteem you live with
when experiencing adulthood. To examine whether there is a relationship between secure
attachment and self esteem, 520 undergraduate psychology students were to complete two
questionnaires; The Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1989) measures self esteem and
Attachment Style Questionnaire Modified (ASQ Mod; Feeney, Noller, Hanrahan, 1994) to measure
attachment type. As predicted the participants who have a secure attachment type were likely to
have high levels of self esteem, this was supported by the medium positive correlation coefficient (r
= .326) between self esteem and secure attachment. The relationship between Secure attachment and
self esteem in adults Have you ever thought of the type of attachment established with your parents
at a young age, to be similar to the attachment currently experienced with people? And knowing that
whatever attachment type you formed accounts for the levels of self esteem you possess?
Attachment is characterized by specific behaviors in children, such as seeking proximity with the
attachment figure when upset or threatened (Bowlby, 1969). According to research, over 50% of
the population are secure attachment types

1. Explain the distinction Jean Grimshaw makes between misogyny and philosophically significant
maleness of philosophical theories.
Jean Grimshaw argues the idea that the discipline of Philosophy is gendered in some way by
making a distinction between misogyny and philosophically significant maleness of philosophical
theories. The maleness of philosophy is characterised by the fact that most of the practitioners of
philosophy have been and are still male. Grimshaw argues that this fact alone does not establish the
maleness of philosophy but gives a sense of understanding. The second point Grimshaw argues is
the way in which male philosophers devalue women and how women are believed to be inferior or
held in contempt. Grimshaw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, Singer is discussing nonhuman equality. Singer argues that if a being suffers, there can
be no moral justification for refusing to take that suffering into consideration. He characterises this
as sentience the ability having the capacity to suffer or experience enjoyment or happiness. Human
speciesists do not accept that pain is as bad when it is felt by animals as it is felt by humans, which
is the argument for extending the principle of equality to nonhumans. When making a distinction
between animals and humans Singer states that there are many areas in which the superior mental
powers of normal adult humans make a difference: anticipation, more detailed memory, greater
knowledge of what is happening and so on. These differences between humans and animals lead to
the conclusion that normal adult human beings have mental capacities which will, in certain
circumstances lead them to suffer more than animals would in the same circumstances. However,
Singer proposes that if we use this argument to justify experiments on nonhuman animals then we
have to ask ourselves whether we are also prepared to allow experiments on human infants and
retarded adults as they too would have no idea of what was going to happen to them. In conclusion,
Singer argues that the difference between humans and animals should not be considered when
defining the moral standards of animal equality, as the

Comparison Between Tombstone Blues And Desolation Row
If members of the folk establishment felt conflicted by Dylan s success, they would soon be
enraged by his break out performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, in which he ushered
in the era of folk rock. Despite lyrical genius, folk music had been unable to touch the primal urges
released through rock and roll, inhibiting the genre from reaching a mass audience. Dylan
combined folk with rock in a way that brought the best traits in each to bear. He filled rock s lyrical
vacuum with Tombstone Bluesand Desolation Row, among others. Tombstone Blues infuses an
exciting rock and roll beat with surreal lyrics that maintain Dylan s individualism. Desolation Row
continues this trend; the listener pictures cultural icons in absurdist... Show more content on

Dylan explained his 1965 transition in an interview that same year, explaining to reporter
Charles Champlin that songs aren t gonna save the world. He goes on to dispel the notion that
he is a teacher or a leader, even going so far as to reject labels like poet. Frustrated with pop
culture s simple minded political commitment, he makes a shambles of it. Desolation Row
demands listeners question the significance of which side one is on, when we are all sitting
aboard the sinking Titanic. No longer enacting change through his art, Dylan now satirizes any who
are naive enough to believe they can save the world. The satire appears mainly directed at elites
who intellectualized their commitment [to far away folks ] without having true feelings. During
the later portion of the 1960 s, Dylan turned his back on

While many have risen to fame and glory, only to lose their spurious fortunes amongst the squalor of human indecency, one man will always drunkenly pratfall into the social perception of a Hollywood movie star gone dark; Chris Farley. Christopher Crosby Farley, definitely did not have a normal life, but it was not necessarily a bad one. He had a catholic upbringing with an upper middle class family from Wisconsin, a decent education, an active, if not healthy social life, a job which generated millions of dollars for him by doing what he loves, and every time he walked into a room the... When Farley was in school he never really felt like he fit in, he was the the awkward fat kid in class who would do anything to get a laugh out of someone. He assumed that people were going to laugh at him anyways so he might as well make it big and make it funny. In one instance, he got up as a teacher was finishing a lecture and mooned the entire class, exposing his rear and causing him to almost get kicked out of school, but the authorities thought the incident so innocently funny that he was let off the hook. He loved to play sports in and out of school, while he may not have been any good, he still showed ferocious devotion and an exaggerated intensity when in the game. He was always huge for his age, but he was surprisingly athletic in comparison, this showed off and on the stage when he performed his own stunts, or clumsily fell onto a table, as he regularly did on movies and television. He grew into his teen years a sweet charitable fool who partied harder than he made people laugh, which was in no way insignificant. He studied theater and communications at Marquette University, and graduated in 1986. After he graduated he went on to Second City Theatre in Chicago, the place where one of his biggest Idols, John Belushi, got his start. • 7. Pakistan s Economic Performance oer the Last 20 Years Pakistan s economic performance over the last 20 years Introduction PAKISTAN S RECENT HISTORY In the last 20 years, Pakistan has oscillated between 3 personalities Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, and Gen. (retd.) Pervez Musharraf. The current President, Asif Zardari, it can be argued, is in power mainly because he was the husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, although he has come into his own over the last two years. Benazir and Sharif were both Prime Minister for two terms each, with each ending the other s term, citing incompetency and unfitness to rule. In October 1999, General Pervez Musharraf seized control of the country and the focus of power in Pakistan shifted towards the President. In 2008, he resigned after pressure from the newly elected government of the PPP the legacy of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and now her husband, Asif Zardari. While the political turmoil and uncertainty of the last two decades has left the public with weakened wills and a spiteful distrust of politicians, the country as a whole moves ever on. • 8. The Findings After Testing Quantized Inertia On The Emdrive The purpose of this article was to report the findings after testing quantized inertia on the EmDrive. The authors predicted that the thrust produced by the EmDrive can be explained assuming that the inertial mass of the photons is caused by unruh radiation. Multiple experiments took place in several independent labs, and produced results that were similar to the predicted values for thrust. The computations of the results did not sufficiently model wave oscillations in 3D, thus the authors recommend further testing in order to produce more accurate findings. The text is formatted as a journal article and has been peer reviewed. It was published on August 31, 2015, in Europhyiscs Letters, a journal founded in 1986 by the European Physical Society. The article references multiple sources that are also academically reliable. This source will be used to introduce one of the current theories attempting to explain how the EmDrive produces thrust. The world s nation states are commonly categorized based on their state of development; nations who have reached the end state, that being developed, are colloquially termed as developed nations or first world nations . In contrast, nations working towards this end state are referred to as developing nations or third world nations . However obvious or apparent these designations may seem, the constituents affecting the status of a respective nation s developmentis quite convoluted. What qualifications do developed nations hold over developing nations; what does it mean exactly to be developed or developing. The process of development is dynamic, and so is the system by which nations received their designation. A series of indicators, institutions and measures are used to assess the state of a nation s development; historically, these indicators have varied throughout time and space. Development theory has been largely presupposed to the fact that the only institutions of importance were those directly expediting market activity. Directly following World War II, the health of a nation was predominately based off its gross domestic product (GDP). This view of the market as the magic bullet dominated the social construct of development; however, this paradigm began to shift come the late 1980s/early 1990s. Following his argument, if unemployed people start new businesses, the phenomenon is considered as necessity entrepreneurship. It can be inferred that there is a highly positive relationship between necessity entrepreneurship (self employment) and a number of unemployed. As the supply push effect of unemployment, Koellinger Thurik (2012) find that rising unemployment can cause new start up activities. By using the Granger causality analysis, they conclude that entrepreneurship is often an escape route for people who have lost their jobs to make a living (Koellinger Thurik, 2012: 1149). It is not surprising that there is empirical evidence showing that necessity entrepreneurship is hard to success. Necessity entrepreneurship and people who experience a long term unemployment tend to be considerably less satisfied with their businesses (Block Koellinger, 2009). The low satisfaction can be explained by motivation (aspiration) and the decision process itself. In particular, the authors specifically explain the reasons: necessity entrepreneurship usually lost an opportunity of free will, and it leads to low satisfaction. Hence, it is reasonable to expect that if unemployed people have an opportunity to prepare their startups through learning relevant skills and knowledge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. What Is The Mood Of The Poem Valentine By Carol Ann Duffy The poem, Valentine, by Carol Ann Duffy, is the epitome of how conventional love and events such as Valentine s Day is pure asinine and downright ludicrous. She illustrates this by utilising a myriad of literary techniques, such as symbolism, imagery and word choice; in order to reveal the realities of love. It can be disputed that Duffy allows her readers to fathom the enigmatic feeling known as love through Valentine. Duffy s coherent use of language features help depict and accentuate this in Valentine, by enabling her readers to feel a sense of sincerity rather than the cliched ethereal facade which is masqueraded in sugar, spice, and everything nice. Throughout the poem, Duffy utilises the use of symbolism to compare love to an onion. This symbolises, that although love is said to be euphoric, it can also provoke tears. An example of this can be seen in lines 7 and 8 where Duffy says, It will blind you with tears like a lover. By this, she means that onions contain a strong chemical in which causes us to cry when we cut them; similar to when we are crying over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is especially evident in lines nine and ten where she says It will make your reflection a wobbly photo of grief. This is implying that onions bring anguish and discomfort whilst being cut which causes us to cry. Their chemical compound causes tears and when crying, everything we see appears wobbly. From this example, the author makes the reader visualise a grimaced face of tears and grief whilst looking at their reflection which appears wobbly. The word photo implies an ephemeral moment that was captured, the word wobbling allows us to assume that tears were spilt causing their vision to become hazy, hence leaving behind a wobbling photo of grief. Analysis Of Are You Somebody The final scene of Nuala O Faolain s memoir Are You Somebody has several aspects that differ from as well as are similar to the endings of the other Irish works we have read in class. Unique to Are You Somebody, the memoir does not conclude with a complete resolution. She also begs for the reader s pity, which the other authors with even worse situations do not resort to. However, her memoir also has numerous aspects in common with the other works. Similar to Bonaparte in The Poor Mouth and O Connor in An Only Child, O Faolain looks outward toward her future. However, similar to McGahern All Will Be Well, she also reflects on her past. Although the authors all face different situations, they are overall very similar in how they respond to their fate in the finalscenes of their works. Several aspects of O Faolain s memoir s ending set it apart from the other works. In contrast to the definitive nature of the endings of the other books, the final chapterof Are You Somebody leaves readers hanging. The memoir concludes as she spends a Christmas day without family, only being surrounded by her dog. She reflects on her past and poses questions to herself regarding the choices she could have made in the past. She asks, What happened? • 21. A Study On Mode Choice Modeling CHAPTER II LITERATURE STUDY 2.1 Mode choice Mode choice is the willingness of a person to prefer one mode of transport over the other when given various alternatives comprising different attribute values. Here, attributes are the factors which impact the mode choice such as their socio economic characteristics, trip characteristics and available transport characteristics. 2.1.1 Theories for mode choice modeling Mode choice modeling is conventionally done based on discrete choice model; here the discrete set of alternatives is given and one must be chosen. This model is based on choosing an alternative with maximum utilization or say choosing a mode which provided the maximum utility to the user. This utility can be found out with the attributes having an impact on mode choice. The relationship between the attributes and mode choice gives a value to each attribute which shows the dependency of choosing a particular mode on that attribute. The utility equations are generally represented as linear equations; the coefficients of each attribute is taken as its weight representing its relative value or importance in the utility equation and hence, their contribution in mode choice. Deterministic and Probabilistic Choice Theory: The user chooses a mode as per the utility function but there can also be some unpredictable behavior which can influence the choice. In sum, then, the issue is whether Yang represents the stereotypes well enough in his book or not. My own view is that Yang successfully stated stereotypes in his book that made it a powerful book. After, all, I have chosen to identify as a college student at Winona State University. Though I concede that Yang could ended his book differently to make it more interesting, but I still maintain that he stated the stereotype successfully because he made it clear enough to the reader to see the stereotypes from the text and images and using three different stories in the same book. Combining texts and images to clarify stereotypes to the reader was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In an interconnected world, social and economic catastrophe in one country spills over onto its neighbours (Chauvet, et al., 2007, p. 3). Failing States are often blamed for housing terrorist groups and transnational criminal enterprises, for the proliferation of small weapons, the spread of infectious disease, and endangering global energy security (Patrick, 2007; Lynch, 2016). They also account for a disproportionate amount of civil wars around the world and large number of refugee movements (Chauvet, et al., 2007). Outside countries, and agencies alike often find themselves intervening in the affairs of failing states to prevent failure from crossing boundary lines. The lower observed heterozygosity found in Area 2 may have been caused by the founder effect, resulting in a loss of genetic variation. The founder effectoccurs when a new population is established by a small group of migrants from a larger population. The founder effect involves a random sampling of alleles during the reproduction of consecutive generations; when a small population is isolated, it may amplify the loss of genetic variation as individuals may become increasingly genotypically similar after each subsequent generation. Eventually, the alleles may become fixed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Population bottlenecks occur when a population undergoes a large reduction in size as a result of environmental events or human activities. As a result, genetic variation may decrease as certain alleles may be over presented, under presented, or completely absent. Consequently, the genetic variation may continue to decline throughout subsequent generations as smaller populations, with less genetic diversity, sexually reproduce, passing on a limited amount of genes to future offspring. Furthermore, heterozygosity in these populations may decrease as a result of inbreeding. Inbreeding occurs when two closely related individuals reproduce; inbreeding may cause the accumulation of homozygous recessive genes and a decrease in genetic variation. Additionally, infrequently occurring alleles, rather than common alleles, may face a greater chance of being lost, which may further decrease the level of genetic diversity. As the population continues to decline, the genetic drift may be intensified as a result of increasing genetic limitations. Similarly, Rubin et al. (2001) compared smaller, isolated populations of Blanding s turtles found in the Greater Chicago area to larger populations found in Michigan, Nova Scotia and Wisconsin, and determined, by using amplified polymorphic DNA, that the smaller populations had a loss of genetic variation in comparison to the ... Relationship Between Secure Attachment And Self Esteem Essay The relationship between Secure attachment and self esteem in adults Kathryn O Dwyer 30323696 Federation University Abstract The attachments you create with parents when you are younger are very important for the relationships you experience later in life; and the self esteem you live with when experiencing adulthood. To examine whether there is a relationship between secure attachment and self esteem, 520 undergraduate psychology students were to complete two questionnaires; The Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1989) measures self esteem and Attachment Style Questionnaire Modified (ASQ Mod; Feeney, Noller, Hanrahan, 1994) to measure attachment type. The maleness of philosophy is characterised by the fact that most of the practitioners of philosophy have been and are still male. Human speciesists do not accept that pain is as bad when it is felt by animals as it is felt by humans, which is the argument for extending the principle of equality to nonhumans. When making a distinction between animals and humans Singer states that there are many areas in which the superior mental powers of normal adult humans make a difference: anticipation, more detailed memory, greater knowledge of what is happening and so on. These differences between humans and animals lead to the conclusion that normal adult human beings have mental capacities which will, in certain circumstances lead them to suffer more than animals would in the same circumstances. However, Singer proposes that if we use this argument to justify experiments on nonhuman animals then we have to ask ourselves whether we are also prepared to allow experiments on human infants and retarded adults as they too would have no idea of what was going to happen to them.
