Who Is Okonkwo s Loss Of Control In Things Fall Apart
Throughout the past two decades, human programmed robots have helped the world in
innumerable forms. Controlled by programmers and occasionally by remotes, recreational and
professional robots help in numerous fields of industry and provide an enjoyable twenty first
century competition. However, as prodigies turned geniuses program artificial intelligence, such
devices may eventually take the control away from humans. The humanrace is no stranger to such
losses of control, for humans also take control away from other humans. Such an aspect is also
prominently present in literature. An exemplar of such is in Chinua Achebe s 1958 novel Things
Fall Apart, where Okonkwo, the protagonist, suffers from a thorough yet moderated loss of control.

When family control is lost, people will prioritize self control over cultural control. Despite the
fact that Okonkwo is important and renowned in Umuofia, he must conform to rigid village and
religious policies in Umuofia. Okonkwo, amid his authority over his family, violently beats one
of his wives, despite the Week of Peace ruling the actions of the townspeople and placing an
interdiction on violence. Okonkwo focuses primarily on his anger and ignores religious beliefs,
while in his anger he had forgotten that it was the Week of Peace (Achebe 29). Okonkwo, amid
his frustration and anger that his family seizes control from him, makes Igbo beliefs second nature
and focuses on himself. Forgetting mandated peace, he takes his culture for granted and loses parts
of his control and respect when he breaks numerous cultural laws. Although Okonkwo does not
intend to lose his control in his national life, people tend to prioritize their own control over their
national lives and want to regain such personal power by any means

Beverly Daniel Tatum Identity Analysis
Beverly Daniel Tatums, is an African American woman. She talks about self identity and dominant
and subordinate people and the groups in society. She goes in to depth about how people identify
themselves. She asked for her students to complete the sentence I am ____ many responses had to
do with raceand ethnic group. She supports this by connecting it to how it s related to the dominate
and subordinate people/groups of society. She says That element of the identity is still taking for
granted by them that it goes without comment. It is taken for granted buy them because it s taking
for granted by the dominant culture.
At the beginning of the dominant and subordinate section in her article she says Dominant groups

An example of a way im dominate is in the sense that when it comes to something like being in a
group for a project or something else similar certain things I could be better at than someone else.
So I would be the dominant and they would be the subordinate. Tatum inserts a quote from a
psychologist Susan Fiske, she writes ... People gather information about those with power. So the
people that see that I have a good quality would try to listen a take note on it. Another way I m
subordinate is that when it comes to me and my mother she is the dominant and I m the
subordinate. This because she is the authoritative figure over me. Another example could be the
role of a teacher and a student. Furthermore another example of how I could be a dominate is
when I m babysitting or looking after someone, I would be the dominant and they would be the
subordinate. When Tatum says Dominates set the parameters within the subordinates operate. In
this situation I would set the rules of what the person has to do and they would have to follow
those rules and in order to follow the

Victimization in Wuthering Heights
In the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily BrontГ« there are multitudes of examples of
victimization, inflicted on every character by every character. There are even less literal instances
of victimization in Wuthering Heights. For example, the symbolism we read in the book about the
moors, and the wild, expansive, rough and infertile land in which this story takes place. All these
aspects of the setting mirror perfectly the relationships between the characters and the victimization
they inflict on each other, such as the victimization of the rough winds and weather that is the cause
infertility on the land of Wuthering Heights. Although all the characters victimize each other in
some way big or small, it is known that the biggest and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edgar is a victim of Cathy s personality, as she is extremely over dramatic, moody and quite
obviously mentally ill, yet he stays with her through her love for Heathcliff and everything else.
This is proven when Cathy openly victimizes and humiliates Edgar when he shows his fear of
fighting Heathcliff. Cathy taunted: Heathcliff would soon lift a finger at you as the King would
march his army against a colony of mice. Cathy victimizes Isabella not to a lesser extent, but her
victimization may be more noticeable. At first Cathy and Isabella identify each other as sisters
and close friends, but when Heathcliff returns, Isabella being somewhat shallow and foolish she
become attracted to Heathcliff and Cathy seems shocked by this, as she knows Heathcliff s true
nature. Isabella is hurt by Cathy s betrayal and isolates herself, and Heathcliff takes advantage of
this as he wants to gain Thrushcross Grange. Heathcliff, much to the dislike of Cathy, embraces
Isabella. He later tells Cathy he does not love Isabella and if Cathy ever wished him to marry
Isabella he would but his throat.
Heathcliff and Isabella secretly marry and Isabella then becomes a victim of Heathcliff s abuse.
Isabella (as described by Nelly) has capacity for strong attachments, and Heathcliff takes advantage
of her blind affections to trap her in an agonizing marriage. Isabella is further victimized by
Heathcliff when he uses her and their marriage in order to gain

Comparing The Sheltered English Immersion Lessons Plan Vs....
When one is comparing the Sheltered English Immersion Lesson Plan vs. the SIOP Lesson Plan,
it is clear that there are a few variances. I started my comparison between these two templates by
reading a sample of a seventh grade English lesson that focused on figurative language such as
similes and metaphors. I chose this particular lessonto begin because I am currently a seventh grade
Language Arts teacher and one of the primary focuses this year was to further develop the students
knowledge of literary devices and figurative language. Therefore, I am very familiar with teaching
lessons based on figurative language and I especially appreciate how creative the lesson was for the
SIOP sample. I am also very familiar with the state s current frameworks for ELA and enduring
understandings, essential questions, and objectives that my department established to support these
standards in the curriculum.
Beginning with the format of these two templates, it is quite clear that the SIOP format is
essentially more relaxed and broad. This allows for a lot of freedom within the lesson because if
students do not understand the information as it is being presented (a.k.a. as my colleagues like
to say, your lesson is bombing ), then you can easily adjust to meet the needs of the students.
However, the rigidity of the SEI template appears to leave little room for flexibility without
straying too far from the format of the template. While I believe that the SIOP appears to be more
flexible

Crisis in Software Patents and Copyrights Essay
Crisis in Software Patents and Copyrights
Introduction
Gaining the knowledge and skills to provide computer technology products, services and software
requires a significant amount investment of both time and money. The individuals who do such a
work should receive financial rewards for their efforts. These rewards create an atmosphere of
creativity and competitiveness that becomes a driving force of the economy of the world. The
products of this creativity must therefore be protected and we call it intellectual property. Simply,
intellectual property is a product of human intellect that has a commercial value. There are three
major mechanisms that US law offers to protect software intellectual properties. These are trade ...

To summarize, a copyright protects a particular piece of software, and a patent protects the idea
embodied in the software.
One weakness of copyright law is that even though it prevents someone from copying the
expression of an idea such as a program or screen images, it does not prohibit from writing code that
uses the same idea. In contrast, patent laws protect ideas such as algorithms, functions, systems or
techniques incorporated in the software but not the source code itself. Although it is fair to protect
inventors from software piracy and infringement, existing software patent and copyrights laws
already brought ultimate crises in software industries and societies.
This paper will discuss the impacts of several crises involving software patents and copyrights by
analyzing the affected stakeholders. The questions we will try to answer are:
Will software patents laws force to halt programmers?
What if the software copyright laws accomplishes globally?
At the end of each discussion, I will look at the moral issues from theological and deontological
ethical perspectives.
Will Software Patent Laws force to halt programmers creativeness?
One of the big issues in software industry is the creativeness of developers are being trapped. How
is this true?
Software Patents are increasing exponentially. Figure 1 shows two estimates. One is by Greg

Using Reid Techniques In Policing
In policing there are many ways of interrogating a suspect. There is one method that is controversial
to use and that is called the Reid technique. Some people like this technique while others believe
that using this technique is wrong and un just.
In my words, the Reid technique means using a series of questions which guilt the person into
confessing that your want. The actual definition defined by john e. Reid is an accusatory process in
which the investigator tells the suspect that there is no doubt as to his or her guilt. The interrogation
is in the form of a monologue presented by the investigator rather than a question and answer
format.
Unlike most interrogation techniques The Reid technique is further broken into 9 steps of interview.
These include direct positive confrontations, theme development, stopping details, overcoming
objections, getting the suspect s attention; the suspect quiets and listens, alternatives, bringing the
suspect into the conversation, and the confession. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second step, theme development, would include providing justification for the suspect to
commit a crime. The third step involves the suspect quitting denials which could indicate probable
guilt, followed by the fourth stop of overcoming objections. The fifth step of getting the suspect s
attention is a very important step. This involve physical closeness and the use of verbal techniques
to command attention. The sixth step is when the suspect quiets and listens, usually showing signs
of surrender. Step seven is alternatives followed by step eight of bringing the suspect into the
conversation. This step involves encouraging the suspect to freely talk about any aspect of the

The Political Environment Of The Philippines
Political Environment To begin, the political environment of the Philippines should firstly be
addressed. In the modern day Philippines, they have established a multi party democracy which has
an elected president along with its legislature. Their democracy is set up exactly the same as ours
in the United States. They have the framework of where the president is both the head of state as
well as the government in general. Similarly their system is composed of the three independent
branches which are the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. Under the leadership of the
president, the executive branch makes the decisions for the government/country body as a whole;
Congress the Senate and the House of Representatives, controls the legislative branch; and the
Supreme Court, held as the highest judicial body they have, is vested within the courts of the
Philippines. Within their country contrary to ours, they hold elections every three years instead of
our two. These elections have been held on the second Monday of May since 1992. The winners of
these elections begin their time in office on the following June 30th. Although the Philippines have
a democracy, not all of the regions within it have political power. Within the local government s
cities, provinces, municipalities and barangays, some regions merely exist just for the use of
administrative purposes. (Doing Business In the Philippines, n.d.).
Legal/Regulatory Environment However within this democracy, there

What is beneath my skin. Inside my bones? (Tan 40). A familiarly asked question by many Asian
immigrants, this query has no simple answer. The rich, historical culture of Asian assimilation
comprises of a sophisticated and intriguing subject. The experiences related and recorded in the
novels The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, Monkey Bridge by Lan Cao, and Obasan by Joy Kogawa
give great insight to the internal and external struggles East Asian immigrants face in the Western

Describe The Importance Of The Colosseum
The Colosseum
Koch, Matt
Do you know what one of the most important structures to mankind history is? The Colosseum. The
importance of the Colosseum, otherwise known originally as the Flavian Amphitheatre, was that
many of the materials, styles, and architecture were inspiring to many architects and designers
constructing today s modern facilities and structures.
The emperor of Rome at the time, Vespasian, began building the Colosseum (Flavian
Amphitheatre) in 72 AD. They believed that in ancient Rome the patron was more noble and
loyal than the architects, and the architects were just craftsmen and hired hands (Woog, 2014).
So as of today the designers and architects are unknown to the world, and will probably never be
found out about because if limited evidence. Floor plans, 3 dimensional scale models,
perspective drawings, and full size design sketches are what were used by the anonymous
architects and designers of the Colosseum (Hopkins, 2011). The site of construction was formerly
known as the Golden House, owned and lived in by Nero the Emperor. This was drained and as a
precaution against potential earthquake damage concrete foundations six metres deep were put
down to support it (Cartwright, 2012). And eight long years of hard work and design later the
Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) was completed in 80 CE.
There were many materials mixed in the project of constructing the Colosseum (Flavian
Amphitheatre). The walls of the Colosseum were built with stone. They made use of a number of
arches in order to keep the weight down, but yet still keep them strong (Cartwright, 2012). The
floor of the Colosseum was wooden and usually covered in sand most of the time. But the floor
was taken out due to heavy weathering in 1674 AD. And about 19 miles outside of Rome in a little
town of Tivoli were quarries where the Romans mined there stone blocks out of to construct the
walls of the Colosseum. Some other material they had used to construct the colosseum include,
limestone brick, concrete and volcanic stone (otherwise known as tufa ), pumice stone. And
including bronze, which was used for statues around the stadium. But some parts of the colosseum
that are made of concrete are not authentic original to the

The Wanderings Of Odysseus And The Odyssey And The Odyssey
In Edith Hamilton s book, Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes and in The Wanderings
of Odysseus from The Odyssey the epic poem by Homer and translated by Robert Fitzgerald, Jason
and Odysseus display the following similar traits throughout their adventures: selfishness,
dishonesty, and delegate. Throughout Jasonand Odysseus adventures, they both showed a great
amount of selfishness. Selfishness is the act of being selfish, lacking consideration for others. On
Jason s quest to finding the Golden Fleece, the author mentions, ...he thought of ambition only,
never of love or of gratitude (Hamilton 133). During the long quest for the Golden Fleece, Jason
was only focused on being successful, not much different from Odysseus. While on Odysseus
voyage there had been fierce cannibals who bombarded the fleet of ships with boulders.
Selfishness played apart of this misdemeanor because Odysseus didn t seem to care to help out
the rest of his crew, Only Odysseus, his ship, and its crew of 45 survive the shower of boulders.
The lone ship then sails to Aeaea, home of the goddess Circe, who is considered by many to be a
witch (Fitzgerald 1224). Both scenarios from Hamilton s book and Fitzgerald s book are very
similar. The main characters both seem like they only care about themselves being successful and
they don t fully put thought into their mentor s health. Mentors are the people who have intentions
to helping out. The mentor in The Mythology would be Medea and in The Odyssey, it would have
been his crew, who did not survive on the other ships. They may have not been aware that they
were being selfish because they were busy having their mind set on having to stay alive and
complete the duty. In effect of having their minds only set on getting the job done, all three of these
characteristics have played a part of it.
A great amount of dishonesty had played a part on the way of Jason and Odysseus adventures. In
Edith Hamilton s book, Jason showed dishonesty by taking all the glory when many people
helped along the way, All that she did evil and of good was done for him alone, and in the end, all
the reward she got was that he turned traitor to her (Hamilton 133). Jason wasn t very honest to

Theme Of Voice And Silence In The God Of Small Things
The God of Small things is the polyphonic novel, where characters are demarcated on the basis of
their certain elements of language, which enhance their importance and employ meaningful
existence in the story. Readers and critics elicit meanings through gestures, actions, voices and
silences of the characters. Language acts as a synecdoche, thus voice, its intonation and accents
has also significance in creation of characters. Voice and silence work paradoxically as metonymy.
Both are mandatory in the world of literature, themes of plays, novels and poetry become
significant with these two devices of language; where voice leaves its words, silence shows
meaning. It may sound illogical to discuss voice and silence within the written text, which is mute

Morgan Le Fay s Role In The Arthurian Myth
Of the many villains in the Arthurian legend, Morgan le Fay, Morgause, and Mordred, may be the
most well known and most influential as they have transformed the texts of the Arthurian legend
over the years. As the legend is altered, their roles are changed by the many writers who impacted
the Arthurian legend. Due to the fact that the legend has been retold many times, the role of each
character cannot be consistent.
Morgan le Fay is the most well known female character in the Arthurian legend. Similar to many of
the other characters in the Arthurian legend, her character has transformed over the years. Many
authors and books depict her story in contrasting ways through the years. Morgan le Fay most likely
originated from Celtic mythology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Writers of the 20th and 21st century explore different aspects of her character. She is much more
than a one dimensional character and shown to have good and evil incentives. For example,
Marion Zimmer Bradley s The Mists of Avalon, in Morgan s point of view, describes her life
story as a struggle between pagan and Christian concepts. Additionally, Fay Sampson s Daughter
of Tintagel, told in different perspectives of people who had unique relationships with Morgan,
also recounts her journey to seek and acquire power from the pagan and Christian faith. In
addition to her role in literature, Morgan le Fay also appears in various movies and television
shows like Excalibur, Stargate, and Mists of Avalon. Morgan le Fay is often cast as a healer,
villain, enchantress, and seductress in various books, tv shows, and movies. Through the years and

On the other hand, the use of anaphoric reference is mainly used to refer to George s mother since
she becomes the starting point of the plot s dramatic action when George confess to his friends that
his mother had caught him. There are many examples as regards that in the first part of the episode:
JERRY: So, what did she do?

Theu.s. Housing And Urban Development Essay
The failure of the United States government to sufficiently care for their men and women in the
military can be seen in the number of homeless veterans. In fact, the U.S. Housing and Urban
development (H.U.D.) reports there are over 39,000 members of the armed services living on the
street (2016). The main causes of homelessnessamong veterans include lack of housing, jobs, and
access to healthcare (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, n.d.). Veterans run a higher risk of
becoming homeless if they are: suffering from a mental illness or substance abuse problem; do not
have a support system; or have a disability (Ainslie Cooper, 2016).
Nature and Scope A homeless veteran homelessness is defined as a U.S. service members, with an
honorable discharge, who is unable to find and/or sustain reliable housing (Ainslie Cooper, 2016).
Many service men and women leave their military life to find it difficult to assimilate back into
civilian life which can result in homelessness. First, the occupations they held as soldiers do not

men and women who have served our country suffer from PTSD and/or other mental health

Role Of Copper In The Chain Of Life Essay
INTRODUCTION: COPPER S PLACE IN THE CHAIN OF LIFE
For good health and vitality, the human body needs several key nutrients that work together, like
the links of a chain. If one of the links is broken, the chain is ineffective hence the saying: A chain
is as strong as its weakest link. The nutrients that form the chain of life are carbohydrates, protein,
vitamins, enzymes, lipids and sterols and minerals. All the six must be present in adequate
quantities for life to thrive.
Minerals, the group that copper belongs to, are critical to every chemical reaction that occurs in the

Consumption of high amounts of zinc can help remove of excess copper from the body.
COPPER RICH FOODS
Because the human body cannot synthesize copper, this mineral must be obtained exclusively
from diet in trace amounts. You ll get dietary copper from a wide variety of foods, which include
dark green leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach; seafood such as oysters, squid and lobster;
dried legumes such as kidney beans and soy and nuts such as walnuts, hazelnuts and cashew nuts.
Other food sources of copper include organ meat such as liver, avocado, chocolate, dried peaches,
figs and raisins. Drinking water supplied through copper pipes also delivers some small quantities
of copper, even though most people don t anything about it. Such an abundance of dietary sources
of copper might suggest that there s no need for supplementation. But a recent research has
established an emerging trend that should get people to sit up and listen. According to a recent

from poverty rose to 13.4 million, (Arrighi Maume, 2007). This is due to the massive economic
fallout, also known as the Great Recession. The United States lost over 7.5 million jobs and the
unemployment rate doubled, which directly impacted parents and their children, (Grusky etc.,
2011). This crisis resulted in leaving many Americans financially insecure. Even though many of
the financially stable individuals suffered a great loss, they were able to utilize their resources to
navigate through the calamity and recover whereas those who were poor faced an economic issue
with greater impact. They were faced with foreclosures, bankruptcies and mortgage felonies. Most
importantly, the lives of the young children were negatively impacted as well. The four areas that
the children were affected by from the Great Recession were: health, hunger, housing, abuse and
neglect, (Wiltz 2015). In several households, there was at least one member that suffered from
malnourishment because of the inadequate food supply for the family. On the other hand,
numerous children were left to be homeless because of

The Theory Of Economy And The Validity Of Emh
To the extent to which you depart from that equality, if it is in your opponents favor, you are a fool,
and if in your own, you are unjust. Although the notion of market efficiency has albeit
rudimentarily been dealt with since the 16th century , it was only when Eugene Fama published his
PhD and his subsequent article Efficient Capital Markets: A Review of Theory and Empirical Work
in 1970 that the Efficient Market Hypothesis (hereafter EMH) was established. The fundamental
argument offered by EMH proposes that the multiplicity and interaction of fully rational economic
actors within a market will lead to the elimination of disparities between market prices and actual
values and allow the former to randomly fluctuate around the... Show more content on

Being that news and exogenous shocks are by nature erratic, prices will share their randomness.
Accordingly, as stipulated by the rational expectations model, investors will act in response to
financial shocks mindful of the latters macroeconomic consequences. Furthermore, both efficiency
and rationality have relative connotations within the economy and are contingent to different levels
of market friction. Campbell, Lo, and MacKinley echo this view and argue that the concept of
relativity is a more useful approach than the absolutist interpretations seen in traditional economic
literature. Markets can, thus, still be efficient even if certain economic agents are irrational or if
price volatility of assets cannot be grounded by fundamentals. Since certain market participants are
irrational, specific stock market trades will not be based on a rational evaluation. Yet, Fama s
sophisticated trader argument finds that the impact of the rational agents within the market is
powerful enough to minimize the departure of actual prices from their fundamental value. Fama
expanded EMH into three distinct forms weak, semi strong and strong form to allow the
hypothesis to be tested in financial analyses. The form that is perceived, however, as the most
reflective of EMH and will be employed by the paper is the semi strong. This form of market

A Summary Of The Injury In The Glass Castle
In Jeannette Walls s memoir, The Glass Castle, Jeannette and her siblings are constantly plagued
with various accidents and injuries, more so than typical children would be. Her parents have a
carefree and lenient approach to parenting, oftentimes leaving the children to fend for themselves or
in perilous situations. In The Glass Castle, Jeannette recounts some of the injuries she and her
siblings suffer, the reaction her parents have to those injuries, and the parallelepisodes they refer to.
One of the first appalling instances of Jeanette s various accidents occurs when she is cooking
hot dogs at the age of three. Walls writes: ...when I stood up and started stirring the hot dogs
again, I felt a blaze of heat on my right side and realized my dress was on fire (9). As a result,
Jeannette ended up having to be covered in ice and given skin grafts due to the severity of her
burns, despite this accidentbeing entirely preventable. While tragic, this occurred for a few
reasons, first because she was much too young to be maneuvering a hot stove, and furthermore
because she was not being supervised by any parent. Nonetheless, any adult could likely have
noticed the fire and put it out more quickly had they been in the room, leading to less acute injuries.
When Jeannette s mother did come, it was evident that she cared about the safety and well being
of her child: Mom ran into the room (9). Seeing as she came running rather than strolling, it can
be inferred that her mother is attentive and worried about her daughter; however, once in the
hospital, her father has an averse reaction to her injuries and the fact that she s in the hospital
when he says: You shouldn t be in this antiseptic joint (13). Most parents would fret over their
child and let the hospital do whatever they saw fit to help their child, but her father Rex doesn t
trust the hospital and potentially jeopardizes his daughter s health by not adhering to the hospital
s recommendations. A parallel episode to this tragic fire incident is when the family is staying at
a hotel and are woken up in the middle of the night by a fire. The whole building burns down,
similar to how Jeanette s favorite pink dress was completely singed and had to be cut

Essay on Opium Wars in China
Opium Wars in China
The Opium Wars were a series of three wars between the Chinese and the British; primarily fought
in regard to the illegal trade of opium in China during the 19th century. They manifested the
conflicting natures of both nations and demonstrated China s misconceptions of its own superiority.
The Opium Warsresulted in the humiliating defeat of the Chinese to a country they considered to
be barbarians .
There were many problems with the system of trade in China; even before opium trading began.
China, believing herself to be the most civilized and advanced country, did not feel the need to
satisfy Britain, a barbarian country s request for freer trade and were concerned the British wanted
land. Britain however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This situation displeased the British, as there was a steady flow of silver leaving Britain.
British attempts for renewed trade conditions were not met favourably by the Emperor. Firstly, due
to China s self superiority it was assumed the visiting diplomats were paying tribute. Further
complications arose with British refusal to comply with Chinese customs e.g. performing the
kowtow before the Emperor. These actions caused misunderstandings and misinterpretations, which
set the basis of British Chinese relations and attitudes.
During the 18th century, the British began trading opium to the Chinese. They had finally found a
commodity the Chinese were willing to buy. Opium was an illicit drug with addictive properties.
As demand on opium increased, the British traders made huge profits and the trade imbalance was
reversed. There was now a steady flow of silver leaving China. In 1796, the Ch ing government
banned the importation of opium. This did not stop the British, who continued the trade illegally.
As well, extensive corruption amongst Chinese officials allowed the opium trade to flourish.
In 1838, the Ch ing government began to take the illegal opium trade more seriously as they noted
the debilitating effect opium smoking was having on its people. Commissioner Lin was appointed
by the Emperor to stop the illegal importation of opium. Lin

War And Western Influence On The Country Of Rambutan
It has been years since I abdicated my thrown in favor of a Kaufman system. You see I was a
powerful leader in my country but I did wrong by my people. I clung to power through force and
suppression which led to my ultimate downfall. Much like Iraq my country of Rambutan was a
result of war and western influence. People of conflicting beliefs were thrown together under one
state and given a constitution to abide by. Western powers believed that a democracy and
constructed constitution would solve the deep seated rivalry between the Durians and the Ackee s
and a nation would transcend a religious identity. This was not the case in fact it made it worse.
Durians held the majority of the state and our hatred toward the Ackee went back to the creation of
our religionof Langsat. The people of the country were not aware of what a democracy was or
how it worked. It became a question of who controls the state and I was the answer. As a general in
the Durian militaryit was easy for me to seize control. Overrun with power and military loyalty the
Ackee became marginalized. Along with the rest of the population. Animosity between the two
groups grew by the day ethnic and religious war was a constant. Security was nonexistent I made no
attempt to open up economically because much like Tunisia, Rambutan was a rentier state. This
allowed political elites to dominate the country s wealth, leading to extraordinary inequality. The
productivity necessary to develop the economy was

Profit maximisation
Profit maximisation is the process by which a firm determines the price and output level that returns
the greatest profit. There are several approaches to this problem. The total revenue total cost
method relies on the fact that profit equals revenue minus cost, and the marginal revenue marginal
cost method is based on the fact that total profit in a perfectly competitive market reaches its
maximum point where marginal revenue equals marginal cost.

What To Do About A Chip In Your Windshield
If you re driving down the road and a big truck flings road debris against your windshield and
damages it, you re faced with the decision of whether to drive with the damage or call for
roadside repairs. Each situation is different, but generally, it isn t safe to drive with a damaged
windshield, and it may even be against the law in your jurisdiction. Fortunately, you can call a
mobile windshield repair truck to come to your location, whether it is by the road, at your work, or
at home. Here is some information about how the repair process works.
Evaluation Of The Damage
The first decision the glass contractor has to make is whether to repair or replace the
windshield. Even if the glass has to be replaced, it can usually be done at a mobile location. One
thing that determines if the glass can be repaired is the location of the chip. If it is directly in
front of your line of vision as you drive, the contractor may opt to replace the glass, ... Show more

of pocket or if the contractor can bill your insurance company. If your windshield has to be
replaced, there is a better chance your car insurance will kick in so you can have the work done at
no cost to you.
Whether your insurance company pays for the repairs or not, you don t want to put off fixing the
glass. A sudden temperature change or hitting a bump in the road could cause the chip to send
out cracks that lead to further damage. When the glass is cracked, it isn t stable. That means you
aren t protected as well in case of an accident. Plus, if the damage spreads into your line of sight, it
could pose a danger when you re driving down the road. Make it a priority to repair your damaged
windshield as soon as you can so you stay safe when you

Freight Vs Scripture
FedEx Freight vs. Scripture: Putting people first.
FedEx Freight attempts to put people first by: Allowing the freedom to generate and express
ideas; through providing the ability to hold management accountable; and by encouraging
decision making capability (Hess Cameron, 2006, pp.29 54). These methods are encouraged
within job structures while simultaneously providing the necessary resources the employees need
to accomplish their assigned tasks. This process of putting people first is effective as long as it is a
top down approach. Leadership must show that these values are real by modeling a do as I do
attitude instead of do as I say.
The Scriptures certainly teach people to put others first (KJV, Matt 7:12, Luke 6:31), and it
encourages free thought within biblical parameters. FedEx is similar to the Bible methodology in
that it encourages people to help others and build relationships; however, there is one major
difference. All of the things that FedEx is attempting to do are things that upper management chose
to do. Upper management chose the culture they thought was best and then they have spent the next
several years forcing it on the entire organization. They failed to work as a cohesive unit and see
what the people. This forced acceptance happens in many organizations. ... Show more content on

Tibial Plateau Fracture Research Paper
Tibial Plateau Fracture With Rehab
A tibial plateau fracture is a break in the top of the bone that forms the bottom of the knee joint

School Safety Has Become A Hot Topic
To know how open and accessible our schools used to be when I was in school, and even once I
started teaching. Through these years, school safety has become a hot topic. Safety is not only
protecting schools from predators, but also from the poorly maintained aging school buildings.
We need to find ways to make our schools accessible, and not feel like we are locked in a jail at
the same time. The buildings, especially older schools, need be closely monitored for any type of
hazard that may hurt the occupants inside. Guncontrol in the past couple years has caused much
controversy; therefore, many states have not approved teachers to carry a concealed weaponinto the
classroom. There are some people who believe this would be the answer to protecting our
students; however, there are also some who believe this will give our students a sense of fear,
they will always feel they are in danger. Finally, we also have to ensure that our children feel
emotionally safe in the classroom and not fear the idea of learning something new. There are
steal security shutters on the windows, all exterior doors are locked, and all doors within the
building must stay locked, you must check in the office and run your driver s license to get a

Eye Anatomy Poster
Eye Anatomy Posters Explaining Our Body s Cameras
By Stephen Lamb
Oct 4, 2009
The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its
functions require years of study to understand. For example, within the layers of the retina
immediately behind the lens, light impulses are converted into electrical signals which proceed
through the optic nerve to the occipital cortex at the back of the brain, where they are translated .
Healthy eyes see in 20/20 vision. That is, standing 20 feet away from an eye chart a series of
symbols, or images, printed on a page people with 20/20 vision can see everything a normal eye
can see, normal being based on the average visual acuity of a majority of the population. ... Show

Defects in the shape of the lens, or inadequate filling of the vitreous humor, can result in
inadequate vision. Age and disease also play their part in reducing human vision. Thus, perfect
vision at birth may require correction as early as grade school, and will almost certainly require
correction by the age of retirement.
Ophthalmologists, or eye doctors, can help patients understand the need for corrective lenses or
surgery by using an Eye Anatomy Poster, whose central figure is a cut away view of the right eye
which depicts everything from the rods and cones (specialized structures in the eye the retina uses to
process light) to more esoteric items like the canal of Schlemm or scleral venous sinus, a circular
channel that collects fluid from the anterior chamber and sends it to the bloodstream.
With its diagram of the visible light spectrum, and a dissection of the structures of the eyeball, this
detailed chart makes it easier to see how the sight of a flower, for example, passes through the
retina to the optic nerve and is interpreted by the brain for our enjoyment, edification and

Submission And Dominance In David Fincher s Fight Club
David Fincher s 1999 film Fight Club is about much more than a club for fighting. Fincher
presents many deep and intricate themes that one wouldn t typically expect from a 90s action
movie. One such theme is submission and dominance. The story follows a narrator who is in a
situation that many fear in the modern age. He works a boring, nine to five office job, and he
struggles to find any meaning in his commonplace life. As a response to this problem, the man,
who I will now refer to as the narrator, subconsciously creates a persona named Tyler Durden, who
is the powerful and masculine man that the narrator always wanted to be. This character that the
narrator creates helps him in making the fight club: a secret organization of men who fight... Show

After his boss threatens to fire him, the narrator has a sudden urge to start punching himself.
Security officers enter the room to see the boss standing over the narrators bruised and bloodied
body. They immediately arrest him, and the narrator receives more money, which he uses to help
fight club. In this strange instance, the narrator lets out both his dominant and submissive side at
the same. He lets out his dominant side by inflicting harm, but at the same time he is being
submissive because he is also the one receiving harm. By doing this, the narrator achieved his goal
of not being fired, and even received an added bonus, albeit through a very unorthodox method.
Arguably, this same concept can be seen at the end of the movie. Despite all the negative things that
had happened to Tyler and the narrator throughout the course of the film, they both got what they
wanted in the end. Tyler collapses all the bank buildings, and makes the narrator more like him. The
narrator destroys Tyler, and becomes a powerful, strong willed man. The union between the two
sides began when the narrator put his gun up to his mouth. Throughout the whole movie, Tyler did
whatever he wanted to the narrator, and the narrator was powerless to stop it. The narrator putting
the gun to his mouth represents the first time that the narrator has control over Tyler. By
strengthening the submissive side and weakening the dominant side, both sides are brought into
balance, which leads to the semi positive conclusion to the

Symbolism Depicted in Poe s The Raven Essay
In the popular television show, One Tree Hill , Lucas Scott once stated, Some people believe that
ravens guide travelers to their destinations. Others believe that the sight of a solitary raven is
considered good luck or more than one raven together predicts trouble ahead. People have many
different opinions about what ravens signify. In Poe s The Ravenit becomes clear that the raven
symbolizes emotional suffering and also portrays a vivid understanding of reality.
As the raven enters the room, its presence reveals emotional suffering and loneliness. For example,
the intrusion of the raven suddenly makes, the air [grow] denser (129). By making the air grow
denser, the raven has an emotional affect on the mind, body, and spirit of ... Show more content on

He wants it to leave because it is making him remember the memorable moments he shared with his
loved one, Lenore. With the company of the raven, he is reminded of his current loneliness along
with his lonely future. Thus, when the raven enters the chamber, it brings a sense of loneliness and
suffering.
The raven also forces the narrator to accept reality and move on. For example, the narrator
questions the raven whether within the distant Aidenn will he ever clasp a rare and radiant
maiden whom the angels name Lenore (129). He ponders the thought of ever seeing Lenore in
his after life. He is beginning to realize that the raven came to him to bring him a sense of reality.
With this knowledge, he is full of sorrow. He longs to see her in heaven, but realizes that in
reality this will never really happen. Also, the narrator wonders if his soul from out that
shadow...shall be lifted while the raven replies, nevermore (130). The shadow of the raven
signifies the death of his beloved, and he knows that he will never be able to escape this shadow.
He will never again find happiness in his life. The reality that the raven brings helps him
comprehend the fact that hiding from his troubles will not make them better. Therefore, it forces
him to accept reality and move on.
Ravens can be seen in many different ways. Some people see them as good luck while

The poem, Dulce et Decorum Est is a famous World War I anti war poem written by the British
poet and soldier, Wilfred Owen. It touched on the brutal the conditions of World War I. More
specifically, the horrifying and gruesome events that occur in the trenches. The purpose is to
express Owen s feelings towards war. The tones of this poem are exhaustion and suffering. The use
of both imagery, diction, and simile, convey the theme of anti war and the tone of exhaustion and
suffering. There numerous literary devices within this poem, but the literary devices that are most

Economical Monday Marketing Strategy
It s only shallow people who do not judge the world by appearances. The mystery of the world is
the visible, not the invisible.
Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
This quotation by one of the greatest writer and thinker of the twentieth century nicely illustrates
the topic which is going to be discussed in this paper; the notions that underlie and has triggered the
enormous international success and which at the same time threatens such popularity of Cheap
Monday the Swedish fashion brand.
Cheap Monday had probably made its widest international depute on the 19th of September, 2007
when Serena van der Woodsen portrayed by Blake Lively was arriving at Grand Central station in
the sitcom Gossip Girl,. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making decisions during consuptions and having preferances in relation to brands consumers
constantly highlight their individual freedom and make a statement with the actual act of
purchasing (Elliott and Wattanasuwan, 1998). Having had the opportunity to search the web for
information on Cheap Monday I have gained the knowledge of online Cheap Monday
communities (Facebook for instance), where people with the same common interest and values can
meet to share and maintain the symbolic meanings relating the brand while creating a platform for
discussion, or dialogue similar to the old cafe houses that were the melting pot of intellectual
challenges in Baudelaire s Paris. The importance of these platforms is indubitable as it is
elaborately discussed in more detail: In order for the meaning of brands to become fully concrete,
the mediated meaning derived from advertising and promotion must be negotiated with the lived
experience of purchase and usage, and particularly for brands with social symbolic positioning
strategies these meanings must be validated through discursive elaboration in a social context
(Elliott and Wattanasuwan, 1998).
Apparently, the worshipers of Cheap Monday had made the brand so big that it soon attracted the
Swedish fashion colossus H M. In the spring of 2008 HM acquired 60% of shares in Cheap
Monday. The fashion

This study addresses the domain of tourism and hospitality practices as well as its positive and
negative effects on the economy, culture and traditions, and the environment globally and in Saudi
Arabia. It also focuses on the need for more improvement and diversity on the tourism patterns. In
addition, the study hopes to provide an understanding of residents attitudes towards tourismimpacts
on the culture, economyand the environment in Saudi Arabia.
Today, tourism has become a global phenomenon being widely recognized in both regional and
national levels. In fact, tourism is considered as one of the fastest growing sectors in the world
economy, thereby being viewed as a potential sector in raising tax revenues, providing employment
opportunities as well as promoting economic diversity (Khizindar, 2012). Goeldner and Ritchie
(2006) indicate that the significance of tourism has increased considerably through educational
institutions such as universities as well as media, which are conduits of spreading the concept of
tourism and hospitality .For instance, Saudi Arabia is one of those countries in the Middle East,
which is determined to promote tourism for growth and sustainability despite belonging to those
nations that have historically built their economies on oil and natural gas (Eid, 2012).
However, some studies indicate that tourists might have cultural, social, economic and
environmental impacts on the local residents. In fact, these recent studies have awakened

  • 2. Who Is Okonkwo s Loss Of Control In Things Fall Apart Throughout the past two decades, human programmed robots have helped the world in innumerable forms. Controlled by programmers and occasionally by remotes, recreational and professional robots help in numerous fields of industry and provide an enjoyable twenty first century competition. However, as prodigies turned geniuses program artificial intelligence, such devices may eventually take the control away from humans. The humanrace is no stranger to such losses of control, for humans also take control away from other humans. Such an aspect is also prominently present in literature. An exemplar of such is in Chinua Achebe s 1958 novel Things Fall Apart, where Okonkwo, the protagonist, suffers from a thorough yet moderated loss of control. The... Despite the fact that Okonkwo is important and renowned in Umuofia, he must conform to rigid village and religious policies in Umuofia. Okonkwo, amid his authority over his family, violently beats one of his wives, despite the Week of Peace ruling the actions of the townspeople and placing an interdiction on violence. Okonkwo focuses primarily on his anger and ignores religious beliefs, while in his anger he had forgotten that it was the Week of Peace (Achebe 29). Okonkwo, amid his frustration and anger that his family seizes control from him, makes Igbo beliefs second nature and focuses on himself. Forgetting mandated peace, he takes his culture for granted and loses parts of his control and respect when he breaks numerous cultural laws. Although Okonkwo does not intend to lose his control in his national life, people tend to prioritize their own control over their national lives and want to regain such personal power by any means ... She goes in to depth about how people identify themselves. She asked for her students to complete the sentence I am ____ many responses had to do with raceand ethnic group. She supports this by connecting it to how it s related to the dominate and subordinate people/groups of society. She says That element of the identity is still taking for granted by them that it goes without comment. It is taken for granted buy them because it s taking for granted by the dominant culture. An example of a way im dominate is in the sense that when it comes to something like being in a group for a project or something else similar certain things I could be better at than someone else. So I would be the dominant and they would be the subordinate. Tatum inserts a quote from a psychologist Susan Fiske, she writes ... People gather information about those with power. So the people that see that I have a good quality would try to listen a take note on it. Another way I m subordinate is that when it comes to me and my mother she is the dominant and I m the subordinate. This because she is the authoritative figure over me. Another example could be the role of a teacher and a student. Furthermore another example of how I could be a dominate is when I m babysitting or looking after someone, I would be the dominant and they would be the subordinate. There are even less literal instances of victimization in Wuthering Heights. All these aspects of the setting mirror perfectly the relationships between the characters and the victimization they inflict on each other, such as the victimization of the rough winds and weather that is the cause infertility on the land of Wuthering Heights. • 6. Comparing The Sheltered English Immersion Lessons Plan Vs.... When one is comparing the Sheltered English Immersion Lesson Plan vs. the SIOP Lesson Plan, it is clear that there are a few variances. I started my comparison between these two templates by reading a sample of a seventh grade English lesson that focused on figurative language such as similes and metaphors. I chose this particular lessonto begin because I am currently a seventh grade Language Arts teacher and one of the primary focuses this year was to further develop the students knowledge of literary devices and figurative language. Therefore, I am very familiar with teaching lessons based on figurative language and I especially appreciate how creative the lesson was for the SIOP sample. I am also very familiar with the state s current frameworks for ELA and enduring understandings, essential questions, and objectives that my department established to support these standards in the curriculum. Beginning with the format of these two templates, it is quite clear that the SIOP format is essentially more relaxed and broad. This allows for a lot of freedom within the lesson because if students do not understand the information as it is being presented (a.k.a. as my colleagues like to say, your lesson is bombing ), then you can easily adjust to meet the needs of the students. However, the rigidity of the SEI template appears to leave little room for flexibility without straying too far from the format of the template. While I believe that the SIOP appears to be more flexible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These rewards create an atmosphere of creativity and competitiveness that becomes a driving force of the economy of the world. To summarize, a copyright protects a particular piece of software, and a patent protects the idea embodied in the software. One weakness of copyright law is that even though it prevents someone from copying the expression of an idea such as a program or screen images, it does not prohibit from writing code that uses the same idea. In contrast, patent laws protect ideas such as algorithms, functions, systems or techniques incorporated in the software but not the source code itself. Although it is fair to protect inventors from software piracy and infringement, existing software patent and copyrights laws already brought ultimate crises in software industries and societies. This paper will discuss the impacts of several crises involving software patents and copyrights by analyzing the affected stakeholders. The questions we will try to answer are: Will software patents laws force to halt programmers? What if the software copyright laws accomplishes globally? At the end of each discussion, I will look at the moral issues from theological and deontological ethical perspectives. Will Software Patent Laws force to halt programmers creativeness? One of the big issues in software industry is the creativeness of developers are being trapped. How is this true? Software Patents are increasing exponentially. Figure 1 shows two estimates. In the modern day Philippines, they have established a multi party democracy which has an elected president along with its legislature. Their democracy is set up exactly the same as ours in the United States. They have the framework of where the president is both the head of state as well as the government in general. Similarly their system is composed of the three independent branches which are the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. Under the leadership of the president, the executive branch makes the decisions for the government/country body as a whole; Congress the Senate and the House of Representatives, controls the legislative branch; and the Supreme Court, held as the highest judicial body they have, is vested within the courts of the Philippines. Within their country contrary to ours, they hold elections every three years instead of our two. These elections have been held on the second Monday of May since 1992. The winners of these elections begin their time in office on the following June 30th. Although the Philippines have a democracy, not all of the regions within it have political power. • 12. Describe The Importance Of The Colosseum The Colosseum Koch, Matt Do you know what one of the most important structures to mankind history is? The Colosseum. The importance of the Colosseum, otherwise known originally as the Flavian Amphitheatre, was that many of the materials, styles, and architecture were inspiring to many architects and designers constructing today s modern facilities and structures. The emperor of Rome at the time, Vespasian, began building the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) in 72 AD. They believed that in ancient Rome the patron was more noble and loyal than the architects, and the architects were just craftsmen and hired hands (Woog, 2014). So as of today the designers and architects are unknown to the world, and will probably never be found out about because if limited evidence. Floor plans, 3 dimensional scale models, perspective drawings, and full size design sketches are what were used by the anonymous architects and designers of the Colosseum (Hopkins, 2011). The site of construction was formerly known as the Golden House, owned and lived in by Nero the Emperor. This was drained and as a precaution against potential earthquake damage concrete foundations six metres deep were put down to support it (Cartwright, 2012). And eight long years of hard work and design later the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) was completed in 80 CE. There were many materials mixed in the project of constructing the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre). The walls of the Colosseum were built with stone. They made use of a number of arches in order to keep the weight down, but yet still keep them strong (Cartwright, 2012). The floor of the Colosseum was wooden and usually covered in sand most of the time. But the floor was taken out due to heavy weathering in 1674 AD. And about 19 miles outside of Rome in a little town of Tivoli were quarries where the Romans mined there stone blocks out of to construct the walls of the Colosseum. Some other material they had used to construct the colosseum include, limestone brick, concrete and volcanic stone (otherwise known as tufa ), pumice stone. • 14. The Wanderings Of Odysseus And The Odyssey And The Odyssey In Edith Hamilton s book, Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes and in The Wanderings of Odysseus from The Odyssey the epic poem by Homer and translated by Robert Fitzgerald, Jason and Odysseus display the following similar traits throughout their adventures: selfishness, dishonesty, and delegate. Throughout Jasonand Odysseus adventures, they both showed a great amount of selfishness. Selfishness is the act of being selfish, lacking consideration for others. On Jason s quest to finding the Golden Fleece, the author mentions, ...he thought of ambition only, never of love or of gratitude (Hamilton 133). During the long quest for the Golden Fleece, Jason was only focused on being successful, not much different from Odysseus. While on Odysseus voyage there had been fierce cannibals who bombarded the fleet of ships with boulders. Selfishness played apart of this misdemeanor because Odysseus didn t seem to care to help out the rest of his crew, Only Odysseus, his ship, and its crew of 45 survive the shower of boulders. The lone ship then sails to Aeaea, home of the goddess Circe, who is considered by many to be a witch (Fitzgerald 1224). Both scenarios from Hamilton s book and Fitzgerald s book are very similar. The main characters both seem like they only care about themselves being successful and they don t fully put thought into their mentor s health. Mentors are the people who have intentions to helping out. The mentor in The Mythology would be Medea and in The Odyssey, it would have been his crew, who did not survive on the other ships. They may have not been aware that they were being selfish because they were busy having their mind set on having to stay alive and complete the duty. In effect of having their minds only set on getting the job done, all three of these characteristics have played a part of it. A great amount of dishonesty had played a part on the way of Jason and Odysseus adventures. In Edith Hamilton s book, Jason showed dishonesty by taking all the glory when many people helped along the way, All that she did evil and of good was done for him alone, and in the end, all the reward she got was that he turned traitor to her (Hamilton 133). When looking at the statistics of child poverty from the past, it is clear that there was an increasing number of families and children living in poverty. This trend dates back to the year 2000 when 11.6 million people were living in poverty. In 2007, the number of individuals suffering from poverty rose to 13.4 million, (Arrighi Maume, 2007). This is due to the massive economic fallout, also known as the Great Recession. The United States lost over 7.5 million jobs and the unemployment rate doubled, which directly impacted parents and their children, (Grusky etc., 2011). This crisis resulted in leaving many Americans financially insecure. Even though many of the financially stable individuals suffered a great loss, they were able to utilize their resources to navigate through the calamity and recover whereas those who were poor faced an economic issue with greater impact. They were faced with foreclosures, bankruptcies and mortgage felonies. Most importantly, the lives of the young children were negatively impacted as well. Campbell, Lo, and MacKinley echo this view and argue that the concept of relativity is a more useful approach than the absolutist interpretations seen in traditional economic literature. Her parents have a carefree and lenient approach to parenting, oftentimes leaving the children to fend for themselves or in perilous situations. In The Glass Castle, Jeannette recounts some of the injuries she and her siblings suffer, the reaction her parents have to those injuries, and the parallelepisodes they refer to. One of the first appalling instances of Jeanette s various accidents occurs when she is cooking hot dogs at the age of three. Walls writes: ...when I stood up and started stirring the hot dogs again, I felt a blaze of heat on my right side and realized my dress was on fire (9). As a result, Jeannette ended up having to be covered in ice and given skin grafts due to the severity of her burns, despite this accidentbeing entirely preventable. While tragic, this occurred for a few reasons, first because she was much too young to be maneuvering a hot stove, and furthermore because she was not being supervised by any parent. Nonetheless, any adult could likely have noticed the fire and put it out more quickly had they been in the room, leading to less acute injuries. When Jeannette s mother did come, it was evident that she cared about the safety and well being of her child: Mom ran into the room (9). Seeing as she came running rather than strolling, it can be inferred that her mother is attentive and worried about her daughter; however, once in the hospital, her father has an averse reaction to her injuries and the fact that she s in the hospital when he says: You shouldn t be in this antiseptic joint (13). Most parents would fret over their child and let the hospital do whatever they saw fit to help their child, but her father Rex doesn t trust the hospital and potentially jeopardizes his daughter s health by not adhering to the hospital s recommendations. A parallel episode to this tragic fire incident is when the family is staying at a hotel and are woken up in the middle of the night by a fire. The Opium Warsresulted in the humiliating defeat of the Chinese to a country they considered to be barbarians . British attempts for renewed trade conditions were not met favourably by the Emperor. Firstly, due to China s self superiority it was assumed the visiting diplomats were paying tribute. Further complications arose with British refusal to comply with Chinese customs e.g. performing the kowtow before the Emperor. These actions caused misunderstandings and misinterpretations, which set the basis of British Chinese relations and attitudes. During the 18th century, the British began trading opium to the Chinese. They had finally found a commodity the Chinese were willing to buy. Opium was an illicit drug with addictive properties. As demand on opium increased, the British traders made huge profits and the trade imbalance was reversed. There was now a steady flow of silver leaving China. In 1796, the Ch ing government banned the importation of opium. This did not stop the British, who continued the trade illegally. As well, extensive corruption amongst Chinese officials allowed the opium trade to flourish. Much like Iraq my country of Rambutan was a result of war and western influence. People of conflicting beliefs were thrown together under one state and given a constitution to abide by. Western powers believed that a democracy and constructed constitution would solve the deep seated rivalry between the Durians and the Ackee s and a nation would transcend a religious identity. This was not the case in fact it made it worse. Durians held the majority of the state and our hatred toward the Ackee went back to the creation of our religionof Langsat. FedEx Freight attempts to put people first by: Allowing the freedom to generate and express ideas; through providing the ability to hold management accountable; and by encouraging decision making capability (Hess Cameron, 2006, pp.29 54). These methods are encouraged within job structures while simultaneously providing the necessary resources the employees need to accomplish their assigned tasks. The Scriptures certainly teach people to put others first (KJV, Matt 7:12, Luke 6:31), and it encourages free thought within biblical parameters. FedEx is similar to the Bible methodology in that it encourages people to help others and build relationships; however, there is one major difference. As a response to this problem, the man, who I will now refer to as the narrator, subconsciously creates a persona named Tyler Durden, who is the powerful and masculine man that the narrator always wanted to be. He lets out his dominant side by inflicting harm, but at the same time he is being submissive because he is also the one receiving harm. By doing this, the narrator achieved his goal of not being fired, and even received an added bonus, albeit through a very unorthodox method.
