What AI and Machine Learning Can Do for a Smart City Tyrone Systems
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms have increasingly become an integral part of several industries. Now they are making their way to smart city initiatives, intending to automate and advance municipal activities and operations at large.
A smart city has various use cases for AI-driven and IoT-enabled technology, from maintaining a healthier environment to advancing public transport and safety.
By leveraging AI and machine learning algorithms, along with IoT, a city can plan for better smart traffic solutions making sure that inhabitants get from one point to another as safely and efficiently as possible.
The Smart Parking Solutions makes use of sensing devices such as vehicle counting equipment, cameras, sensors installed in pavements, etc. to discover occupancy of the parking lot. The strong sensing systems are being built to examine and transfer the data to the database in real-time.
The system increases the accessibility of parking with the use of sensors. The sensors placed in the pavement of the selected parking spaces to recognize if a parking slot is occupied or vacant.
Sensors communicate with the gateway and that data will be pushed to the cloud. Sensors then immediately show the availability of parking slots. This can be viewed on the Mobile APP or the sensors placed on the parking slots so drives can easily identify the space.
Faststream’s Intelligent Parking Solutions use the full potential of digitalization: smart sensors, intelligent software, and clever analysis of the available data. The system eliminates unnecessary parking-related traffic and ensures optimum utilization of urban parking facilities. This saves time, reduces the environmental impact of traffic, and improves the quality of life in the city.
Air Transport Industry: The future is connected
The combination of connected technology and connected people is helping to reshape the journey for air passengers and, increasingly, their expectations and behavior. Contextual communications via internet-enabled devices and objects will become the enabler for more seamless air travel experiences over the coming years.
For airlines and airports, the focus will be to manage all the physical (and virtual) “objects” that comprise their business ecosystem.
For connected travelers, the Internet of Things (IoT) offers opportunities to link with the air transport industry’s IT ecosystem to manage and personalize their journey from their own smart mobile device, on the ground and in the air.

The success of ABC gates show how border agencies and airports are leveraging biometric documents and automation of traveler authentication to facilitate passenger flows. The next big thing will be biometrics as an identifier for border, airport and airline processes. Ready to travel just with your face?
Urban data is the mosaic of street-by-street, minute-byminute information that makes up a city’s digital twin. It includes mapping how people use urban areas, the mix of traffic on the roads, the hyper-local air quality and noise levels. This data is incredibly valuable for designing better urban infrastructure, delivering more efficient services, and making everything more transparent to empower citizens.
The use of urban data has been limited by two barriers. The first is the high cost of single-purpose imaging sensors and the related cost of moving raw imaging data to the cloud. The second is the need for a trust infrastructure to apply best-practice privacy policies to data and provide transparency for citizens on how that data is protected and used. This session will highlight a new approach to harnessing the power of urban data, using streetlight infrastructure. The Urban Data Project is a group of tech companies, municipalities and thought leaders. The results of this collaboration are currently being deployed by Smart Cambridge and the initial results will be shared in the presentation.

Smart Car Parking system using GSM Technologydbpublications
In this paper, we present PGS, a Parking Guidance System based on wireless sensor network(WSN) which guides a driver to an available parking lot. The system consists of a WSN based VDS (vehicle detection sub-system) and a management subsystem. The WSN based VDS gathers information on the availability of each parking lot and the management sub-system processes the information and refines them and guides the driver to the available parking lot by controlling a VMS (Variable Messaging System). The paper describes the overall system architecture of PGS from the hardware platform to the application software in the view point of a WSN. We implemented the WSN based VDS of PGS and experimented on the system with several kinds of cars.

Internet of things (IoT) infrastructures are rapidly expanding, which will lead to an unanticipated rise in demand for smart cities. The concept of a "smart city" has recently gained traction in urban planning circles. An IoTbased smart parking system is the focus of this article, and it allows a motorist to locate a car park and an available parking space in an indoor metropolis, all from the comfort of their own vehicle. Additional efforts are made to reduce the time spent defining parking zones. Reduced fuel use helps to cut down on pollution, as well as avoid needless travel through congested parking lots, which can help to reduce unlawful parking and alleviate traffic congestion in the city we all live in. These innovations include automobile particular identification via radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, unoccupied slot detection through the use of ultrasonic sensors, and cost calculating based largely on parking duration. The technology we've used is unique in that it runs on separate parts of the system for the hardware and the software.
An Overview of Parking Slot Detection Techniquesijtsrd
The aim of this study is to design and implement an automatic parking system to increase parking usability and safety and to collect parking fees for vehicles without having to use a magnetic card. A clever car park system can work with fewer human connections and does not need a magnetic card. There is also a parking assistance system that can advise and guide the user to the correct car park. In order to detect the number plates for the parking and payment system, the system used image processing. In general, the systems use pre programmed controls to ensure that at least one person is involved in the parking system and control access to restricted areas. Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

IoT isn’t slowing down and there’s an increase in the development of Smart Cities.
At the time this was written, Bill Gates announced his plans to develop Belmont, a
smart city in Arizona, just west of Phoenix.
“Belmont will create a forward-thinking community with a communication and
infrastructure spine that embraces cutting-edge technology, designed around high-
speed digital networks, data centers, new manufacturing technologies and
distribution models, autonomous vehicles and autonomous logistics hubs.”
If you’ve read our articles on Smart Farming and Smart Waste Management, you can
see the potential to make jobs more effective, save resources, and connect in a way
that makes everyday life easier. We have spent years developing and testing our
sensors for use with automobile detection. Along with sensors used in smart waste
management and precision agriculture, we’re being used in smart parking solutions
across the world.
What is Smart Parking?
Smart Parking is a parking strategy that combines technology and human
innovation in an effort to use as few resources as possible—like fuel, time and space—
to achieve faster, easier and denser parking of vehicles for the majority of the time
they remain idle. – Parksmart

Information about parking spaces in a certain area is collected and processed in real-
time by sensors to place vehicles in those available parking spaces. Like smart waste
management, it allows the optimization of workforce management and makes it
easier for drivers to park.
Parking meters are also developed with sensors. They automatically expire what
time is left on a meter when the vehicle departs the stall. It forces the next driver to
have to put more money in the meter, no time is rolled over.
Take a look at this infographic and imagine the possibilities for application in
hospital parking, parking in urban areas, shopping malls or sports venues.

For these types of applications, we offer two options for smart parking.
MB8450 - USB - Car Detection Sensor
We designed the Car Detection Sensor as a weather resistant, low-cost USB option to
detect the side of a vehicle in a drive-through. Multiple sensors can be used together
in one system with little effect from sensor to sensor interference.
The main applications this sensor is used in include:
Drive-thru ATMs
Drive-thrus
Automated displays and advertising
Proximity zone detection
Kiosks and booths
Multi-sensor arrays
