SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Skill means the ability to do something well or something with precision and
Development means to do develop by adding something new. Thus Skill Development
means to add something more to the abilities that we have and to move it a step ahead,
so as to keep on developing. Skill development is necessary to compete in this
advancing world.
NECESSITY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT:
1. To survive in the Advancing World. (Survival of The Fittest)
2. To compete with other advanced persons. (To compete by Developing Skill)
3. To come at the higher level to as to achieve success.
4. To develop the nation, the other people coming in the field.(Leave the Greediness
Far Aside)
TYPES OF SKILL
There are two types of skills:
1. Core skills
2. Secondary skills
1. Core skills
Core skills refers to skills we absolutely need to have in order to perform our
tasks. They are directly tied to the outcome. Without these skills, we cannot function
properly in the task.
2. Secondary skills
These are skills which are nice-to-haves and not need-to-haves to achieve the
desired output.

Leadership skill
The skill or the ability to guide the entire team in a project or a work to achieve a
goal. Leadership skill ensures other persons that we have the ability to take the
responsibilities and not to run away from them. Leadership skill of one person is a
motivational skill for other.
Communication skill
The skill or the ability to communicate with the team in a project or to communicate with
any of your co-worker is known as communication skill. The communication here means
how clearly one can tell others about ideas he/she have without creating confusions.
Develop Communication skills
• Know what communication is.
• Have courage to say what you think.
• Practice.
• Make eye contact.
• Use gestures.
• Develop effective listening skills.
Problem solving skills
The skill or the ability to efficiently solve the problems that arise at the time of
execution is known as problem solving skill.

Decision making skills
The skill or the ability to make the correct and the best possible decision between
the alternative is known as decision making skill.
• The decision can be made by two ways
1. Intuition 2.Reasoning.
Presentation skill
Presentation skill is the ability to present the ideas that we have in our mind clearly
to a person or a group of person in an effective way using some medium.
Steps to improve the Presentation skill are:
• Practice
• Transform Nervous energy into Enthusiasm
• Adjust to your surroundings
• Use positive visualization
• Smile (but don’t be like a maniacal clown)
• Actively engage the audience
• Use a power stance
Management skill
Management is an art of managing the project or a work, the various activities
related to it, the persons associated with it and completing the project or the work in the
given time period without compromising with the quality standards.
• The parts of management are:
1. Planning
2. Organizing
3. Directing
4. Controlling
Writing skill
Writing skills are an important part of the communication skill. Good writing skills
allow you to communicate your message with clarity and ease to a larger audience than
through face to face or telephone conversations.
Improve writing skills
1. Get to the point
2. Use non discriminatory language
3. Use correct spellings, grammar and punctuation
4. Write in the way that no one gets bored. (try giving examples)
