Vernon Biever was an American sports photographer in the 1960s known for photographing American football games. His photos often featured blurred backgrounds and slightly brighter foregrounds to draw the viewer's eye to the action. This approach differed from present-day photographer Julien Deniau, whose photos use vibrant colors and artificial lighting to create complex, magazine-worthy images rather than simple newspaper images. Biever's black-and-white photos also reflected the era in which they were taken, when color photos were less common and black-and-white was necessary for newspapers.
