INVESTIGATING THE EARTH AND THE UNIVERSE
SUN
What can you see in this slide?
THE SOLAR SYSTEM

Consist of :
1. The Sun
2. 9 planets
3. Natural satellites
4. Asteroids
THE SUN
• Is the center of the Solar System.
• It is in the middle of the Solar
System and there are 9 planet
  which revolve around it.
• It is a star that able to give us
  light and warmth.

PLANET
• Each planet revolves around the Sun in its
  own elliptical orbit.
• The orbit ensures that the planets will not
  collide.
• While revolving around the Sun, the
planets also rotate on their axes.
• All planets, except Venus and Uranus
  rotates anti-clockwise.
• Venus rotates clockwise while Uranus
rotates from top downwards (on its side).
• The nearest planet ( Mercury ) has the
  smallest orbit.

• The furthest ( Pluto ) has the biggest orbit.

• The rotation of the Earth in the west to
  east direction causes
   a) the formation of day and night
   b) the Sun rising in the east and setting
      in the west.
