STRUCTURE OF SIMPLE AND COMPLEX TISSUES
RELATION
Complex and Simple Tissues
SIMPLE TISSUES:
A simple tissue is made up of similar type of cells
which have common origin and function.
TYPES:
There are 3 types of tissues.
1.Parenchyma
2.Collenchyma
3.Sclerenchyma
1.PARENCHYMA
It is composed of living
cells which are variable in
their morphology and
physiology.
OCCURANCE:
It occurs in pith,
mesophyll of leaf, endosperm
of seed , pulp of fruit.
STRUCTURE
 It consists of unspecialized
cells with thin cell wall.
 These are living with large
central vacuole.
 Have intercellular spaces
between them.
 They are oval , rounded,
polygonal in shapes.
FUNCTIONS
It provides support to plants and also
stores food in the form of starch grains ,
fats and oils.
Air spaces in parenchyma also facilitates
exchange of gases.
2. COLLENCHYMA
 They are elongated living cells with small
intercellular spaces. Their cell walls are made of
cellulose and pectin.
 It occurs in peripheral regions of stems and
leaves.
 It allows easy bending in various parts of a plant,
without breaking.
 Mature collenchyma are living and contain
protoplast.
TYPES:
There are three types of
collenchyma tissues on the
basis of cell enlargement .
1.Angular
2.Lamellar
3.Tubular
