Delving deeper into the benefits of co-simulation between LMS Amesim and STAR-CCM+, this study shows the results of coupling a 1D thermal and combustion model of an engine with a 3D Finite Elements mesh in STAR-CCM+. The aim is to acquire detailed information about localized temperatures and heat exchanges, which would enable engineers to locate hot-spots and design out areas where cooling is suboptimal.
Additionally, the co-simulation is run over the NEDC cycle, with a particular focus on the start-up phase. This made it possible to get clear insights into the engine’s thermal behavior in the transient between ambient to operating temperatures.

Automating 1D/3D CFD analysis workflows – Speed up design exploration of a Y-...Siemens PLM Software
This study aims to leverage multiple Siemens PLM solutions in order to allow you to cover your entire design workflow, from design variants to automated post-processing of results. HEEDS, Siemens PLM’s industry-leading process integration and design optimization (PIDO) tool, was used in order to automate the modification of a parametric CAD geometry in STAR-CCM+.
It was then used in order to very simply set-up a workflow involving a 1D/3D CFD coupling between Simcenter Amesim and STAR-CCM+. This co-simulation produced results which were automatically post-processed from HEEDS: 1D plots traced directly in HEEDS, and post-processing scenes created in STAR-CCM+ were automatically populated and collected in HEEDS.
This approach allows you to automate the creation, simulation and post-processing of your design configuration sets while minimizing friction and required effort on your part.

Environmental control systems (ECS) are one of the major areas of focus for aircraft manufacturers. They ensure adequate conditioning of the ambient air for the passengers, but are also responsible for cabin pressurization, ice protection, among others. We carried out this study which aimed to couple a complex 1D system simulation model of the environmental control system with a 3D CFD model of the aircraft cabin. This allowed us to ensure that passenger comfort was adequately handled under different flight conditions. In the study, we were also able to check whether flight-critical systems functioned as designed in partial-failure scenarios.
This co-simulation study allowed us to capitalize on an optimal combination of both the 1D and 3D worlds, where intricate air treatment systems were simulated in 1D, and complex flow patterns and heat exchange characteristics were identified and accounted for in 3D CFD.

This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
