SUBJECT. -
ANATOMY.
TOPIC -
SHOULDER JOINT.
TYPE _
The shoulder joint ball and socket vareity of synovial joint.
ARTICULAR SURFACE -
It is the formed by articulation of the Glinoid cavity of scapula and the head of
humerus.
So it is called glinohumeral articulation.
It is a weak joint because Glinoid cavity is small and shallow to hold the head of the
humerus.
STABILITY MAINTAIN BY _
● Coracoacromial arch.
● Musculotendinous cuff.
● Glenoid labrum.
● At the same muscle and atmospheric pressure.
LIGAMENTS OF SHOULDER JOINT _
Capsular ligaments
a. Inferiorlly _. Surgical neck.
b. Supperially _. Head of biceps brachii
2. Coracohumeral ligament.
3 . Transverse humeral ligament.
4. Glenoidal labrum.
.
BURSA OF THE SHOULDER JOINT -
1. Subacromial Bursa .
2. Subscpularis Bursa.
3. Infraspinatus Bursa.
RELATIONS OF THE SHOULDER JOINT _
supperially
_
_. Coracoacromial arch, subacromial Bursa, supraspinatus and deltoid.
INFERIORLLY _ Long head of triceps brachii, axillary nerve, posterior cercumflex humeral artery.
ANTERIOR _ subscpularis, coracobrachialis, short head of biceps brachii and deltoid.
POSTERIOR _. Infraspinatus, teresminor and deltoid.
BLOOD SUPPLY IN THE SHOULDER JOINT.
1. Anterior cercumflex humeral artery.
2. Posterior cercumflex humeral artery.
3. Suprascapular artery.
4. Subscpular artery.
NERVE SUPPLY .
1. Axillary nerve.
2. Musculocutenious nerve.
3. Suprascapular nerve.
ACTION _
FLEXION _. Clavicular head of pectoralis major and anterialy to deltoid.
EXTENSION _. Posterior deltoid and lattismusdorsii .
ADDUCTION _. pectoralis major and lattismusdorsii, long head of triceps brachii, short
head of biceps brachii.
ABDUCTION _. both supraspinatus and deltoid muscle, ( 0 to 90’ ) , serratus anterior 90 ‘
to 180’ upper and lower fibre of trapezius 90 to 180’.
MEDIAL ROTATION _
1. Pectoralis major.
2. Lattismusdorsii.
3. Anterior fibre of deltoid.
4. Teres mojar.
LATERAL ROTATION_
1. Posterior fibre of deltoid.
2. Infraspinatus.
3. Teres minor
CLINICAL ANATOMY _
Shoulder tip pain.
Frozen shoulder.
