Zen Buddhism teaches that enlightenment, or satori, is experienced naturally through losing oneself in everyday experiences of beauty in nature, rather than through religious ideas or words. The Zen approach encourages these moments of enlightenment through meditative practices like zazen, or sitting meditation, ideally done in a zendo, or Zen meditation hall, under the guidance of a roshi, or enlightened teacher. Koans, nonsense riddles or questions, are also used to jerk practitioners out of normal thinking patterns and into satori. Zen has had a major influence on Japanese culture, from martial arts like karate to arts like calligraphy and the tea ceremony.

Shiatsu is a physical therapy that supports
and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works
on the whole person - not just a physical body, but also a psychological,
emotional and spiritual being.
Shiatsu originated in Japan from traditional
Chinese medicine, with influences from more recent Western therapies. Although
shiatsu means ‘finger pressure’ in Japanese, in practise a practitioner uses
touch, comfortable pressure and manipulative techniques to adjust the body’s
physical structure and balance its energy flow. It is a deeply relaxing
experience and regular treatments can alleviate stress and illness and maintain
health and well-being.

This document provides an overview of Philippe "Ajita" Barbier's insights into subtle anatomy and energy systems gained through his yoga practice since 1963. It describes two visions he had in 1986 that helped explain the relationship between energy centers (chakras) and energy bodies (sharira's). The first vision showed this relationship through a yin yang symbol, with chakras resulting from the meandering energy stream within sharira's. The second vision showed this stream consists of two intertwining spirals representing the ida and pingala nadis, maintaining the system's shape. This explained the requirements for immortality and revealed how impressions shape material forms and organs over lifetimes.
Yoga views the human being as having five interconnected bodies - physical, energy, mental, psychic, and spiritual. It aims to bring balance between these bodies and the external world through asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques. Scientific research has found yoga benefits both physical and mental health by harmonizing the nervous system and flow of subtle energy within the body. A qualified yoga teacher can properly instruct students in practices to enhance overall health and well-being.

This document discusses the concept of prana or life force energy in yoga. It explains that prana is the primal energy of the universe that animates the body and is controlled through breathing techniques known as pranayama. There are said to be major and minor pranas that govern different bodily functions. The document explores how energy and matter are interchangeable and how breath influences the flow of pranic energy in the body, affecting physical, mental and emotional states. It suggests Eastern philosophies view consciousness and mind preceding the physical body, unlike Western thought which sees the body developing first.
The document discusses Hindu concepts of the five koshas or sheaths - annamaya kosha, pranamaya kosha, manomaya kosha, vijnanamaya kosha, and anandamaya kosha - which make up human existence from the physical to the spiritual. The vijnanamaya kosha is described as the sheath of higher thought and cognition. Various yoga practices are mentioned as a means to realize the true self beyond these koshas.
Dr. A.N. Das presented on health, the mind, soul, and spirituality. He defined health as a balanced state of mind, body and soul. The mind is responsible for thoughts, emotions, and attitudes. The soul is the spiritual part that some believe continues after death. Spirituality relates to religious beliefs and connecting with something beyond material things. Maintaining health involves balancing the soul, mind and body through practices like yoga and meditation that help purify thoughts and connect with the supreme soul. This provides positive energy and protects from disease by boosting the immune system.

The document discusses energy and its relationship to matter from both a scientific and ancient Indian perspective. It states that quantum physics shows that everything is made of energy, and that as science delves deeper into matter it finds only energy remains. Similarly, ancient Indian philosophy such as Adi Shankaracharya's teachings held that the world is an illusion (maya) and composed solely of energy (atma). The document then discusses the energy systems of the human body, including prana life force and nadis energy channels, before focusing on mudras or hand gestures that can balance these energy flows and promote health.
This document provides an introduction to yoga, including its history and eight-limbed system. It discusses yoga as a spiritual science originating from the Sanskrit word for union. The eight limbs include yamas, niyamas, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi. Asana refers to yoga postures developed from observing animals. Regular practice of asanas balances the endocrine system and affects the chakras and meridians. Yoga aims to achieve harmony of body, mind and spirit through its techniques.
1. The document discusses constant awareness of divine presence and how to achieve it through practices like breathing exercises, silent sitting, and chanting mantras.
2. It explains how regulating breathing can restore emotional balance and that practices like the Soham mantra enhance peace and joy.

This document discusses mindfulness and intrinsic leadership. It argues that happiness leads to success, not vice versa, and explores techniques for cultivating mindfulness like breath watching and observing inside and outside. It discusses how mindfulness practices combined with emotional intelligence and neuroscience can help with leadership. Mindfulness is said to reduce brain activity associated with fear and anxiety while increasing activity associated with awareness and learning. The document also explores how other practices like pranayama, yoga, mudras, sound, and Sanskrit can impact the human energy system and discusses viewing the human body as an energy system rather than just physical.
This document discusses Ayurvedic and Yogic perspectives on the nature of self. It describes the self as having three parts - the visible self, invisible self, and soul. The invisible self is composed of the five pranas, five senses, five organs of action, mind, intellect, ego and soul. It is linked to the universal macrocosm through energy channels called nadis. When the link between the invisible and visible self disintegrates at death, the soul is liberated. The document aims to answer the question "Who am I?" by exploring the relationship between the individual self and the universal whole according to ancient Indian philosophy.
The document discusses Ayurvedic and Yogic perspectives on the nature of self. It describes the self as having three parts - the visible self, invisible self, and soul. The invisible self is composed of the senses, prana life force, mind, and connects one to the greater universe and determines rebirth. The visible self is the physical body composed of the panchamahabhutas or five great elements. It explores how purush or consciousness interacts with prakriti or nature to form the universe and individual beings. The chakras and nadis are energy channels that connect the inner and outer selves and are regulated by the autonomous nervous system and endocrines. Upon death,

Acupressure is an ancient form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses finger pressure on key points along meridian lines to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. By applying pressure to specific points, endorphins are released which relieve pain and balance chi or life energy flow. Acupressure is a gentle alternative therapy that can effectively treat conditions like headaches, joint pain, nausea, and asthma. It has been practiced for over 5,000 years as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine which views health as a balance of yin, yang, and the five elements of chi or life energy flow through meridian pathways.

According to psychology author George K. Simon, the manipulator has a sufficient level of ruthlessness to have no qualms about causing harm to the victim if necessary.
No matter what tactics your partner uses, the effect is to control and intimidate you or to make you feel that you do not have an equal voice in the relationship.

EVERYONE WHO JOINS PROBABLY JOINS FOR A DIFFERENT REASON. BUT, FOR THE FUTURE OF SHORINJIKEMPO AND FOR YOURSELF, IT IS IMPORTANT WE TRAIN WITH THE SAME PURPOSE DOSHIN SO HAD.
“Today everyone has so much more knowledge than people 2 or 3 hundred years ago. But, we are not any happier. To have or know a lot of knowledge is of no value if you can’t use it for your daily life. Thus it is useless for us to know Buddha’s teachings without putting them into practice.”
Zen came into being through the merging of the Hindu-Buddhist understanding, that the essential reality of life can be discovered through non-attachment to any of its particular forms.
Doshin So’s reputation began to spread as <the>. The main teaching of Shorinji Kempo is Kongo Zen. This is actually So Doshin’s main message or purpose, not the martial art side.
“There is only one road leading to motivation, pride, and the trust from others – education & development of the young. Showing people things that money cannot buy, things more precious than awards, teaching them that the final source of strength must be personal pride and confidence.”
Thus, the two reasons stated simply are, first, its against the teachings of Kongo Zen to start an attack and second, from a purely practical technical point of view, it is easier to defend and much safer as well. This is the thinking behind “Shushu Koju.”

2. SHIATSU REVEALED
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
ShorinjiKempo teaches the Buddhist way of treating diseases. As such, we must understand the
basis of Buddha-Sasana (The Rules of Buddha). Upon his awakening as a self realized being,
Buddha laid out the foundation of human suffering scientifically. The 4 mental attributes and 1
physical attribute contributed to any dis-ease condition.
3. SHIATSU REVEALED
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
The sub-dynamos of energy in the human body was classified as “Prana-Chakra”. The study of
Prana-Chakra was the basis of Shiatsu (Japanese system of Acupressure) and Reflexology
(The manipulation of Auto Immune System).
Each sub-dynamo (India: Chakra) is a vortex of energy that governed specific organs and organic
functions in the human body. When the subtle workings of energy sub-dynamos is interrupted
due to the faulty thinking of man, dis-ease ensue.
4. SHIATSU REVEALED
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
In accordance to one’s perception on life, the body arranges itself to suit the perception. If the
perception is harmonious then harmony reflects in the body or else the body would reflect the
imperfect thoughts perceived by the individual.
5. SHIATSU REVEALED
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
Each thought brings with it a feeling and craves the enjoyment of such feelings. The etheric thought
gathers momentum through various development stages, until it’s final culmination in
enjoyment.
The development stages are; desire – want – need – intent – volition.
6. SHIATSU SCIENCE
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
The vital points store these etheric thoughts of the individual. The vital points act as a blue print to
fashion the body after the etheric thoughts and desires of that particular individual Soul.
7. SHIATSU REVEALED
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
The vital force (Prana/Chi/Ki) drives the etheric thoughts that lie in each vital points and creates the
evolution of the individual Soul in its present form of human body.
8. SHIATSU REVEALED
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
The Soul will incarnate with as many bodies until all desires are satisfied and finally extinguished.
The “5-Shu-Points” speaks about the journey taken by the Soul in fulfilling its desires.
The journey is described as well-spring-stream-river and finally sea.
9. SHIATSU REVEALED
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
The 4 mental attributes are Ether-Air-Fire-Water. The 1 physical attribute is Earth.
From Ether rises all elements. Hence from Cosmic Consciousness arises the Human
Consciousness.
10. ORIGIN OF DISEASE
This concept was expressed and taught by Lord Buddha. It is the most simple and clearest of medical
science. How feelings and emotions propel our actions which when repeated becomes an habit and
character of an individual is clearly explained here.
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
11. FIVE ELEMENTAL VIBRATION
According to an etheric thought pattern, the 5 elemental vibrations arranges itself.
Each etheric thought vibration in stages creates and governs its very own elemental vibration of
expression.
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
12. ORGANS & DISEASES
Here we see how the elemental vibrations in turn expresses itself as vital organs.
Thus each vital organ and its function is fashioned after the very own etheric thoughts that make up
the mind of the person.
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
13. ENERGY SYSTEM
Eventually the human body is formed in its ultimate gross vibratory state as solid, liquid, fiery, gaseous
and spatial. Buddha explained that the matter we see is not real matter but subtle energy.
Here we see the various forms of energy that sustains the human body.

14. ACUTE CONDITIONS TREATMENT
Shiatsu is a very precise and accurate science which deals with restoration of energy system.
It is very effective in dealing with Acute Conditions. Seen here is the procedure in treating acute disease
conditions.
KONGO ZEN SHORINJI KEMPO
15. CHRONIC CONDITIONS TREATMENT
Where there is life, there is hope. True to this statement , Shiatsu is very effective in the treatment of
Chronic disease conditions. Seen here is the procedure for treating Chronic conditions.
