Kovalam Wet Lands, is 40kms from Chennai City. I put this album together from the pics I took during my visit. Feel free to use them in your nature projects at school.

conditions, high salt and low oxygen environment.

8. Kovalam These wetlands serves as an ideal habitat for about 63 species of
birds whose number rises with the monsoon seasons.

9. You could spend hours at a wetland watching birds. Wetlands support bird life
ranging from painted storks, purple moorhens to herons.

lake increased the fish
population and migratory birds
started returning in large

……It is located on both sides of the link road connecting Old Mahabalipuram Road in
Kelambakkam and East Coast Road in Kovalam.

mostly pelicans, storks and
egrets and even ducks, teals
and avocets.

Vandalur zoo and the Pallikaranai marshland as well as the lesser known
Nanmangalam Reserve Forest and wetlands in Perumbakkam and Kovalam.
