This study compares the stiffness of malignant and benign liver tumors using quantitative shear wave elastography (SWE). 69 liver tumors were examined using conventional ultrasound and SWE. The tumors were divided into 2 groups: group 1 consisted of 36 benign tumors with an average stiffness of 7.88kPa, and group 2 consisted of 33 malignant tumors with an average stiffness of 84.34kPa. The study found a statistically significant difference in stiffness between benign and malignant tumors. SWE provides a quantitative measure of tumor stiffness which can help characterize the malignancy of liver tumors.
