Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

As Universal and Rogue pictures distributed the film Working Title created the movie but they are parented by Universal pictures. Rental Services Rental services such as Blockbusters, Love Film and Netflix will help sales of the movie but when Shaun of the Dead was being released Blockbuster was the best outlet to get the most sales of rental services but over the years DVD sales decreased exponentially with the rise of the Internet and streaming services such as Netflix, Love Film and Amazon Prime. As these streaming services have monthly pain memberships where they can watch anything that is one the site for as long as the want whilst they have the membership. With the monthly paid memberships Shaun of the Dead will have some of the profit from the people who watched the movie for a certain amount of time will go to the creators of the Shaun of the Dead Pay per view Pay per view is effective as it allows viewers at home to watch Shaun of the Dead on their TV. This can have some problems, as it can be few years after the films release date are shown on TV for free so this may not get profit. But, Shaun of the Dead can get profit from this with services such as Now TV have a display for films which have displayed which people can pay to watch. Impact of Piracy Piracy will decrease the amount of money that Shaun of the dead. With people streaming Shaun of the Dead for free will take profit away from the studios that have created the movie. A huge disadvantage to this is that if you re caught watching films illegally you can get arrested but some people decide to take the risk and watch the film anyway even if the film is in a bad quality. Legal Downloads Legal downloads can be done through things such as iTunes, Google Play Movies etc. iTunes and Google Play movies are trusted organisations that help sell many movies that have been released, to watch for home viewing or on the go. . These movies usually cost less than £10 and viewers can watch them at a high quality.
