The Resistance to Change
As a person one might find that we follow a specific routine on the day to day basis. Sudden
changes to these routines feels weird and out of place. In William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily
based in a fictional town called Jefferson taking place during the twentieth century. The time period
is indeed an important factor because southern tradition was above all of the highest importance.
This short storygives the audience details of life during that time in which they followed the values
of southern tradition and the importance to never stray away from those traditions. The context of
the story is laced with subliminal messages of humanities resistance to change. In Faulkner s A
Rose For Emily the lead character is the center piece of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which gives us the narrator s opinion on the subject of change, which is disapproval.
In A Rose For Emily the narrator uses the rose as a symbol of resistance to change. Having been
mentioned in both the title and in the bed next to the body of Homer. Symbolizing the romance
of southern tradition (Kurtz 40). When a person receives the rose it is tradition to place it in the
pages of a book preserving its memory (Kurtz 30). Homer Barron is himself A Rose For Emily
and symbolizes southern tradition. By murdering Homer in the psychotic fashion detailed in the
story she has preserved his memory for herself. His decaying body is symbolic for the rose left
in the pages of the book (Kurtz 40). Like the Rose, Emily s watch which is usually connected to
a chain in her pocket is symbolic. Having been placed in her pocket the loud ticking is a constant
reminder of how change annoys Emily. The fact that the Keys 4 watch is not visible where she can
watch time fly is an example of Emily s pathetic attempt to hide the passing of time and control
change (Schwab 215).
Emily can be compared to Queen Victoria known to adapt to traditional values and feared for
straying away from those values (Dilworth 255). This comparison is the enhancement of Emily s
fear of change because the queen herself was disgusted with the very idea of change. Prince Albert
a foreigner was the unpopular husband of Queen Victoria because of his ethnicity. In this
comparison Prince Albert can be

Prison Subculture In Prison
When the average person thinks of jails and prisons, they typically think of horrible criminals
being locked up in order to protect the rest of society. They think justice has been served, and
those who did the crime are now doing the time. But what goes on inside a prison, and inside the
minds of the inmates? What about after those offenders have served their time, and are now being
released back into the general public? People don t really think about how prisonaffects a person s
mentality, or how incarceration impacts both relationships the inmate currently has, or ones that
will develop in the future. Although it isn t something most people think of first, incarceration
is an experience that can have a negative psychological impact on a person for quite some time.
Once you enter a prison, you are in a completely different world. The sound of the door as it
closes drives the realization home: your freedom is gone. Whatever luxuries you had before are
gone. Everything you once took for granted you now long for, and contemplate with reverence.
This being the case, there are now two new sets of rules you have to follow: the rules of the staff,
and the rules of the inmates. Of course, these will conflict, but you have to deal with it now. Prison
subculture is different from the outside world and even varies between men s and women s. The
men s subculture is probably the better known of the two. It has its own set of ebonics, attitudes,
statuses, and values. Inmates say that

Kardashian Women
Keeping up with the Joneses For many when they think monsters they think of killers, rapist, or
thieves but sometimes monster can come in the form of something a little less intimidating but
still have the potentiality to eradicate and damage a society. One must realize the sometimes
monsters are not that thing in your closet or under your bed or in a scary movie, but they are the
ones that we see every day in every magazine, blog, and commercial. They are the ones with the
biggest platform to potentially help society but instead decide to fill it with negativity and lies.

are repeat offenders of cultural appropriation, which entails a majority group taking something
form a marginalized, minority ethnic group, often for frivolous reasons or financial gain. ( 7
Things the Internet Needs to Learn about Kylie Jenner and Cultural Appropriation.). The
Kardashians are known for their imitation of black culture. Not to long ago, Julee Wilson, of
HuffingtonPost.com, exposed a magazine company for naming Kendall Jenner fashionista of
the week for taking braids to a whole new level. All she had was cornrows, a simple style used by
blacks for centuries. In an attempt to seem cultured the Kardashian clan ridicules other cultures.
Another example is when Kylie Jenner admitted she had lip filler, Kylie got lots of praise, she
even got credited for starting a new trend of fuller lips. Once again this is already apart of
someone else culture. Niki McGloster, from Elitedaily.com, stated that while Kylie received
praise for ballooning her lips with collagen fillers, the African American girls who have had full
luscious lips their whole life got made fun of and teased. But now since Kylie Jenner has deemed
this to be cool, fuller lips are now appreciated. Lastly, when Kylie Jenner tried on dreads for a

Artificial Intelligence In Blade Runner
How are stylistic film features and conventions used by Ridley Scott to portray the dilemma of
Nexus 6 replicants being more human than human ?
In an increasingly technological age, the defining aspects of the human condition continue to be
questioned. The ideas of identity, emotions and mortality encapsulate the quandary of the Nexus 6
replicants humanity in the neo noir film Blade Runner. The film, directed by Ridley Scott, depicts a
future in which a genetically manufactured group of beings known as replicants become hunted by
humans on earth after a bloody mutiny. Scott s insight into the development of artificial
intelligence is demonstrated through a wide variety of film techniques including lighting, sound,
dialogue and camera angles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did The Influence Classical Greek Art
The Influence of Classical Greek Art throughout the Eras The forms and styles of Classical
Greek art were the essential backbone of artwork and have drawn inspiration for artists through
various periods of art ranging from the beginning of the Roman Empire to present day art. The
Classical Greek sculptures were typically composed of marble and the body forms had a much
idealized style; where the forms represented ideal body types. One of the most popular sculpture
forms during the Classical Greek art period during 600 to 300 BCE, was the male nude
sculptures. The male nude sculptures represented the ideal male figure during the earlier centuries.
One of the most popular male nude sculptures that represent Classical Art is the marble sculpture
of Doryphorus (450 440 BCE) by Polykleitos. The male nude sculpture is in a very relaxed pose
where his right leg is in the background and his arms are in a stance that represents movement...

However, the Roman artists contributed their own additions to Greek art. Instead of taking an
idealized approach when completing works of art, the Roman s used the style of verism. The
concept of verism was to make their artwork as realistic and similar to human forms as possible,
hence why it was known as the warts and all style. During the 1st Century, a marble sculpture of
Augustus of Primaporta was made which displayed the ruler in a powerful stance as a young
leader. In comparison to the Greek sculpture of Doryphorus, both marble statues display
movement; however the Roman sculpture had the purpose of displaying power and not looking
as relaxed and idealistic as the Greek sculpture. Augustus hand is raised in the sculpture and he is
wearing a chest plate that displays images of his victories as a leader. The sculpture acted as

The Major Changes In Defence at Carisbrooke Castle Essay
The Major Changes In Defence at Carisbrooke Castle
The three periods of development I will cover in this piece of coursework are the Norman Period,
the Medieval Period and the Elizabethan Period.
Each period had many different updates installed due to new threats and advances in technology.
Norman Period 1070 1130:
The castle began its existence as a Saxon burgh, which was discovered by William Fitzosbern,
owner of the Isle of Wight, which was given to him by King William 1st. Fitzosbern proceeded to
convert the partly existing burgh into a wooden motte and bailey castle by firstly constructing a
campaign fort in one corner, as stated in The Carisbrooke Castle Official Guide Book ... Show more

Brattices (small wooden sheds) were also attached to wall by small jutting stones; these could be
built quickly and were effective for defence. The holds for the brattices can still be seen today.
The walls were filled with rubble beneath the initial layer to absorb the impact from cannon fire
and stop the wall from crumbling. Crenulations on the top of the curtain walls had wooden flaps to
allow archers to shoot from quickly and not get hit by enemy fire. We saw evidence of this on the
Carisbrooke Castle fieldtrip, where there were small notches in the stone for the flap hinges.
The main gatehouse and drawbridge, with two square towers on either side, was built in 1136
too. Between the two sturdy gates and portcullises was the murder zone , which allowed
defenders to pour hot oil and sand etc over invaders as they tried to enter. Later developments to
the gatehouse at around 1378 included the square towers being changed to circular drum towers
and crossbow loopholes being added because of the aforementioned device being invented. Another
major development around this period was the barbican. The barbican ensured that to get close to
the gatehouse, invading troops would have to walk around the barbican first exposing their sides to
fire from the drum towers.

Uterine Fibroids Affect On The Female Reproductive System
Uterine fibroids affect 3 out of 4 women (Mayo Clinic, 2014). They are non cancerous but they
can cause pain and discomfort. This paper will discuss who can be effected by Uterine fibroids
and its effects on the female reproductive system. This paper will show the three types of fibroids
that develop in or near the uterus. It will discuss the symptoms and when a diagnosis is needed.
This paper will also look into the various forms of treatment including medications and surgery.
Uterine Fibroids
Uterine Fibroids are non cancerous growths that develops in the myometrium layer of the uterus.
A single cell divides repeatedly, eventually creating a firm, rubbery mass distinct from nearby
tissue (EA, 2013). There are different types of growth patterns to uterine fibroids. Sometimes
they are small and in some cases they are extremely large. Woman between the ages of 30 and 40
years old are more at risk of developing uterine fibroids. They develop mostly in the child
bearing years of a woman s life. African American women have a greater risk of developing
uterine fibroids at a younger age than any other race. Uterine fibroids are also called leiomyomas
or myomas. Uterine Fibroids can develop on the inside or outside of the uterus.
There are three different types of Uterine fibroids. One type is Submucosal fibroids. This type of
fibroid grows into the inner cavity of the uterus. These are more likely to cause heavy menstrual
bleeding and can have an effect on pregnancy (Mayo

Reflective Essay On Cooperative Groupings
I started teaching Mathematics at La Quinta middle school back in 1988. my third year teaching
The state was trying to revolutionize mathematics teaching in there starting at the middle school
level. it was called Renaissance math. cut away from the textbook approach and relied heavily on
activities, Cooperative grouping, and somatic units. we spent a lot of time working on Cooperative
groupings. Introducing the kids to activities where they had to work together. I got to where I
really loved the Cooperative grouping approach, but as you can imagine especially with middle
schoolstudents it was exhausting to do it everyday.
Introduce the kids to Cooperative groupings we first talked about the roles that each student had
within their group. I usually had 8 groups within the classroom. and I usually had numbers
tacked on the ceiling to indicate wh which group was wh where. most of the groups consisted of
4 students, sometimes or 5 students in a group. the four roles which I had students use were the
group manager (Responsible for keeping everyone on task and encourage them to do their best
work), the recorder (All the writing for the group and is The lead when it comes to put in a
project together), the timekeeper ( encourages the group to stay on task and keep track of how
much time has left in the period), And the materials manager (In charge of getting and returning
supplies needed for the class period). Every student is responsible for being the speaker at some

The Use Of Acne And Its Effects On Dental Appointments

More than fifty million Americans struggle with a form of acne, making it the most common
skin disorder in the United States alone. An FDA approved drug Accutane has helped many
people cure many issues, but also has times where it has done more bad than good. This drug,
that has helped people clear their severe acne, also has been linked to suicidal thoughts,
depression, birth defects and many more. This drug although is still available on the market, and
has been effective in approximately eighty percent of the users, making it a popular drug to
continue ( Accutane: Birth defects, bowel disease, suicide recall, 2016). Information about this
drug including the background, conditions this drug is used for, the impact of this drug on dental
appointments, and most importantly the side effects and drug interactions for this schedule two
drug, are important factors relating to the user s overall health. This drug being a schedule two
means it can not be refilled nor called in. With schedule two drugs, there is a high possibility for
potential of abuse. This abuse can be in ways of physiological or physical dependence (Haveles,
2015). The chemical name for this drug Accutane, is 13 cis retinoicacid or generically named
isotretinoin. Although this retinoid drug is mainly used to treat severe acne, it can also be used as
an anti cancerous form of chemotherapy (PubChem, 2016). As stated before, Accutane is used for

through a rather elaborate internal appeal to logos to prove to herself through reason, logic, and
facts that the Tristero exists. While she does collect evidence and testimonies that suggest to the

remove any chance of some other possibility existing about Tristero s doings. Though the

Essay On Exercise As Treatment For Depression
Exercise as Treatment for Depression Jacob Gibson University of Alabama in Birmingham
Exercise as Treatment for Depression Depression is a prevalent severe medical disorder that
adversely affects the way people feel, think, and act. According to Brosse, Sheets, Lett and
Blumenthal (2002), the term depression is used to describe an unease or dissatisfaction mood
state, a condition that involves a group of symptoms or a clinical disorder. Depression leads to a
series of feelings of sadness or loss of interest in activities that were once appealing. Other symptoms
include loss of appetite, increased fatigue, sleeplessness, difficulty in thinking, concentrating, or

Evidence from studies indicates that negative self evaluations among people including adults
and adolescents play a role in the occurrence of major depressive disorders (MDD). It is
theorized that effective depression interventions work towards improving self evaluations
among patients. For instance, particular self evaluations include applying self efficacy, positive
thoughts on body image, and physical self confidence (Brosse et al., 2002 Palmer, 2005). The
evidence suggests that improved self evaluations may mediate antidepressant results of exercise.
Exercise has been established to have significant psychological effects on an individual s self
esteem, primarily those with depression. Self esteem is related to body image compared to any
other characteristics of self. According to Doyne, Ossip Klein, Bowman, Osborn, McDougall and
Neimey (1987), as individuals exercise regularly, they are most likely to acquire increased
physical benefits such as weight loss, muscle strength, and increased respiratory fitness. Such
improvements in the physical features of an individual lead to positive personal perceptions and a
boost in self esteem. In a study conducted to establish the effects of exercise on adolescents with
depression, Carter, Guo, Turner, Morres, Khalil, Brighton and Callaghan (2015) found that after
completion of the study using aerobic exercises, the mood of 26 participants dropped and they
showed signs of sadness. The reasons for the changed emotions

How Wages are Determined in a Perfectly Competitive Labour...
How Wages are Determined in a Perfectly Competitive Labour Market
As in other markets, the supply and demand of labour determines the price (wage rate) and the
quantity (number of people employed). The labour market is different from other markets (like the
markets for goods) in several ways. The most important of these differences is the function of
supply and demand in setting price and quantity. In markets for goods, if the price is high, in the
long run more goods will probably be produced until the demand is satisfied. However, with
labour, overall supply cannot in fact be fixed because people have a limited amount of time in the
day, and people are not manufactured. A rise in overall wages... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
A decrease in demand would cause the opposite. An increase in supply, however, would cause a
shift down the demand curve therefore lowering wage rates and quantity of labour.
A shift in the supply curve of labour could be caused in many ways. If labour became more or
less productive, this would cause the MRP curve to move MRP = Marginal revenue product.
This is a theory of wages where workers are paid the MRP to the firm. The price of a substitute
could also change i.e. if the price of a substitute goes down, say a certain type of capital, then the
demand for that labour will fall. The demand for the product could also change. If the demand for
the product could also change e.g. if the demand increases, this would mean a higher price. This in
turn would give a higher wage rate as wage is determined by MRP which is MPP(marginal
physical product X price).
The demand for labour is a derived demand. This means it is decided by how another factor
changes e.g. if the demand for a product increases, the demand for labour in that field will
increase. If demand for a product increases, this means a higher price and a higher quantity will be
produced (for profit maximisation). This would cause the MRP curve to shift outwards, which in
turn would mean a higher wage rate, or possibly that more workers are taken on.

Piave s Tone In Act I Of Rigoletto
This vulnerable tone in Act II comes as a surprise from the playboy character we see in Act I. In
Act I of Rigoletto, Piave emphasizes an apathetic tone in order to reveal the sameness of all
women, giving them lesser value than men. As Borsa and the Duke discuss Ceprano s wife, the
Duke declares in his first aria that this woman or that is the same as the many others [he] see[s]
around [him] (I.1). The author uses this language of commonality with words like same and many
in order to help the audience understand the nonchalant tone. Piave reveals that the Duke thinks of
women as disposable objects. This direct contradiction from his caring spirit toward Gilda in Act II
to his apathetic tone in Act I reveals a huge shift in the tone. The Duke makes a huge generalization

This generalization erases the identity of all women. He sees women as physically attractive but
he does not see them as continuously captivating. Toward the middle of the aria, the Duke
emphasizes the sameness of women saying, If today this woman pleases me, perhaps tomorrow it
will be another (I.1). The general, unspecific terms the Duke gives in this sentence structure such
as this woman and another reveals a calm, indifferent tone. The Duke does not name a specific
woman or even a name eliminating their unique qualities. Piave depicts women as disposable and
easily replaceable in the Duke s eyes. In other words, they are attractive and entertaining for a
moment but, after a little while they cease to be useful. Lastly, at the end of the aria, the Duke
emphasizes the unimportance of women declaring that There is no love, if there is no freedom. He
deride[s] the jealous fury of husbands, and the ravings of lovers (I.1). To consolidate his point,
the Duke, in a logical manner, explains that love is freedom and he has no desire to be bound to a
specific woman. He ridicules men who become jealous and try to restrain him from being with their

Essay on Poverty and Common Mental Disorders in Developing...
The two most striking take home messages from this paper are: common mental disorders should
be looked at on par with other diseases associated with poverty (like tuberculosis); treatment and
prevention of mental diseases should involve confronting poverty and economic development, apart
from the medical interventions. The rest of the paper provides a discussion of the evidence backing
these points and the ways in which they can be implemented. These conclusions and the reasons
why they are remarkable are discussed in this critique.
This is a review of 11 community studies on the association between poverty and common mental

and three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, they qualify this statement, maintaining that this is not a final conclusion since the
review contained a small number of studies, none of them longitudinal.
The first important implication this paper emphasizes is that there is a strong need for mental
diseases to be looked at on par with other diseases associated with poverty. There is no doubt
today that mental disorders form a significant public health burden (WHO report, 2001). One
category of mental illness unipolar depressive disorders is placed third among leading causes of
burden of disease in terms of Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) globally (Global Burden of
Disease, WHO, 2004). This is more than that for ischemic heart diseases or even HIV/AIDS. Yet,
there is a big discrepancy between the magnitude of mental illness burden (especially in low and
middle income countries) and the resources devoted to addressing it (Tomlinson, 2009). At the root
of this issue is the stigma associated with mental illness. Public stigma and internalized stigma
(negative attitudes held by stigmatized individuals about themselves) associated with having a
mental illness negatively affect a person s attitude and intentions toward seeking mental health
services (Conner, 2010). Stigma also affects the way policy makers and donors perceive the need
to allocate funds and resources to a cause. If common mental disorders are viewed

I agree with the analysis Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 , because we had the same thoughts on how
Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451. Bradbury used a lot of imagery, stylistic devices, and symbolism.
I agree that Montag acts as if his hands are doing the problem when taking the books and that he
cannot do anything about it, but in reality he is just curious about the books and his conscious is
getting the best of him. Bradbury used a lot of personification to describe things like when Montag
talks about burning the house down with the brass nozzle in his fists, with this great python spitting
its venomous kerosene upon the world, the blood pounded in his head... (1). An allusion that I
found was Play the man, Master Ridley: we shall this day light

Cruelty In Machiavelli
In The Prince, Machiavelli even discusses the best and most effective ways of using cruelty.
Machiavelli says; I think it s a question of whether cruelty is well or badly used. Cruelty well
used is short lived and decisive, no more than is necessary to secure your position and then stop
(The Prince, XIII). Machiavelli s governing code is completely absent of ethical concerns. He
hates Christianity and is attempting to remove its influence on the mindset of rulers. This
indeed would not sit well with Socrates. He would disapprove of this new moral code and any
state governed by it. Socrates believes that when deciding to perform an action the only
consideration you should take is if that action is ethically sound. Cruelty is objectively unjust
and unethical. Socrates would never advocate its use no matter how beneficial it is to the state.
Socrates believes under no circumstances should one knowingly commit an unjust act. While
in prison Socrates, says to Crito; there is no sense in which an act of injustice is good or
honorable (Crito, 49a). Socrates would not support a system that advocates the use of cruelty
and other vicious actions for political gain. Machiavelli and Socrates respective beliefs on
political thought are shaped by how they view the world. Machiavelli looks at the world through
a realist scope. He sees the world as how it is, not how it should be. Machiavelli is often dubbed
the father of realism and his ideal political system reflects that. He believes the paramount
interest of a state is to protect its political autonomy. He instructs princes to be cunning, deceitful,
and constantly suspicious of other rulers. The Prince will be judged by the results of his reign
rather than the means he used to achieve them. War for Machiavelli is good; it allows the Prince
to broadcast his power, instilling fear in other rulers. Socrates would oppose this mindset and
outlook on the world. He would instead take a more idealized approach to political affairs.
Socrates would instruct a Prince to look at other sovereign rulers as potential allies. War, for
Socrates, is the last resort, if an option at all. Socrates prince would work tirelessly to settle
disputes with diplomacy

Traditional Gyms And Small Gym
In this ethnography paper, I chose to study both large, commercial gyms and small, privately
owned gyms locally that I have attended or visited in recent weeks. In this paper I will refer to
the gyms as Big gym and Small gym , I will also refer to the gym members by randomly selected
names that I ve generated. This is to protect the identities of the of the businesses and gym
members should the reader by chance, know or be familiar with either the gyms or its members.
The Big gym located 7 miles away from my place of residence, and the Small gym, which is
located 20 miles away from me, are the locations from which I conducted my data collections
and analysis. The focus group of my research consist of each gym s members. In this discussion,
I hope to answer, why these individuals prefer the Big or Small gym over the other to meet their
fitness goals, and what plays a role in their decision making. We will discuss the different kinds
of norms that are played out in both gyms, how they differ, and whether or not they play a role in
a decision between gyms. Most of us are familiar with the Big Gym, there is likely to be one
more in your local area, they are also called commercial gyms. They are easily recognizable due to
their size, the number of employees, and the number of members attending. They usually have
more than one location and seem to be driven more by how many members they can acquire than
on the personal care of the individual member. You may or may

James Madison Biography
Like his close friend Thomas Jefferson, James Madison came from a prosperous family of Virginia
planters, received an excellent education, and studied law В–though only informallyВ— and
quickly found himself drawn into the debates over independence. In 1776, he became a delegate to
the revolutionary Virginia Convention, where he worked closely with Thomas Jeffersonto push
through religious freedom statutes, among other liberal measures. The youngest member of the
Continental Congress, Madison was of smaller than average height for a Virginian of the period;
reports have him standing either five feet four or five feet six inches tall. His soft spoken, shy
demeanor was a foil for his brilliant persistence in advocating his political... Show more content on

The War of 1812 amounted to a second war of independence for the new Republic and helped to
unify the President s party. Much of the War of 1812 centered on bloody battles against the Native
American tribes, who were aided by the British. In 1814, the British took the nation s new capital,
torching the White House and other federal buildings. They were finally defeated at the epic Battle
of New Orleans by General Andrew Jackson s ragtag army, many of whom were volunteers,
including free blacks and slaves and nearly 1,000 French pirates. Although Madison escaped
capture, the victories against Tecumseh and at New Orleans revitalized the nation and earned him
the esteem of his constituents. Madison s critics, who organized the Hartford Convention to protest
his policies, looked like traitors to the victorious nation, and their anti war criticism further
weakened the Federalist Party.Everyone was shocked when the shy and reticent James Madison
announced his marriage to the vivacious Dolley Payne Todd, who became one of the most
popular and vibrant first ladies ever to grace the White House. Dolley Madison was already
familiar with her role in Washington since she had occasionally played the role of hostess during
the Jefferson administration. A beautiful woman who liked to party and to show off her impressive
figure, Dolley Madison quickly earned a reputation among conservatives and political enemies, who

project brief to a certain stage. This perspective hinders the interaction between the client and the
designer and impedes exploiting value opportunities and managing risk threats caused by brief
development drivers. In order to overcome the limitations of the current briefing approaches, the
Dynamic Brief Development (DBD) concept was developed. This concept supports and encourages
brief development throughout the project life cycle as an approach to achieve client satisfaction
and respond in an innovative manner to the brief development drivers, improve the briefing
process, and to manage change orders effectively [6].
Permitting brief development to take place without establishing the procedures that control its
development leaves the project brief uncontrolled and jeopardise achieving client s satisfaction.
Because brief development can add value or risk to the project or could add both, the well
established methodologies of Value Management (VM) and Risk Management
(RM) are the most appropriate tools to manage dynamic brief development. Since better value could
not be achieved unless associated risks have been managed, both methodologies

Dahl s How Democratic Is The American Constitution
How Democratic Is the American Constitution Critical Review
Kylie Kugler
Mira Costa College
Robert A. Dahl wrote How Democratic Is the American Constitution? without the purpose to
change our American Constitution but to adjust the way we think about it. Dahl raises the main
question, Why should we feel bound today by a document produced more than two centuries ago
by a group of fifty five mortal men, actually signed by only thirty nine, a fair number of whom
were slaveholders, and adopted in only thirteen states by the votes of fewer than two thousand
men, all of whom are long since dead and mainly forgotten (Dahl, 2001, page 2)? Dahl explores the

greatly expanded my knowledge about our American system of politics. Prior to reading the
novel, I had a very simple view of our Constitution, which in that I only ever thought of it as the
structure of our country. Dahl changed my entire perception of the Constitution and even made
me appreciate it more. Now, I know that the framers did not have a set example of a successful
form of government to base the constitution off of nor could they predict the future. That goes to
show how smart the framers were to be able to create such a brilliant and resourceful constitution
in the period of time that they did, along with the knowledge and technology of their time period. I
was also unaware of how the United States compared to other democratic countries. For example,
from 1992 95 100% of countries were performing better than the US in the topic of foreign aid.

Government Policies Set Up By The Ussr
Government policies set up by the USSR, especially the New Economic Policy and Five Year
Plans had a major effect on the industrial growth and development in the USSR both due to their
focused end goal and the unification of the party being able to enforce these policies. However,
the Five year plans can be seen as a more successful policy in promoting industrial development, as
statistics show a that it resulted in a greater growth of development and industrial development of
the USSR than any other government policy. The Five Year Plan can be seen as the leading
government policy in promoting industrial development. Set up in 1928 32 its goal was to propel

To achieve this, targets were set for every industry, each region, each mine and factor and every
worker fined if targets were not met. With a clear goal and targets to reach the FYP meant many
poor peasants in rural areas of the USSR began to migrate to urban areas. Cities sprung up from
nothing, allowing more workers to move to these developing areas in search for money a
success in promoting industrial development, as without workers willing to relocate and work,
industrial development would not have been possible. The Five year plan was a huge success in
promoting industrial development, coal production quadrupled from 1927 (35 million tons) to
150 million by 1940, followed by steel increasing six times and then followed by electricity.
These key aspects provided the basis for the USSR military economy, allowing the Soviets to
turn the tables and drive out the Germans by being able to supply the factories with an every
growing demand of electricity, parts for tanks, weapons, goods and machinery could all be
manufactured to succeed in industrial development of the USSR, the USSR was turned into a
modern state, which resultantly could resist Hitler s invasion. However, the FYP does have its
failures. The over ambitious targets set out by the FYP, in terms of producing goods over the
USSR production possibility meant many targets were over exaggerated and false to avoid penalty.
Moreover, this led to inefficiencies as

Arneson s Argument Of Degradation Of The Surrogate
Anderson s second argument is that of degradation of the surrogate. This thinking may be true in
some cases, but not all. Anderson makes the comparison of surrogates to a hatchery. Again,
Anderson herself degrades surrogates by removing their autonomy and projecting them as docile
and incompetent creatures who cannot enter into a contract without being exploited. Arneson
rebuts this assertion by asking the question why is it permissible for a womanto act as a surrogate
for a friend or familymember (Altruistic Surrogacy) but as soon as money is entered into the
equation (Commercial Surrogacy), it becomes morally unacceptable. Arneson s point that the
exchange of money for the service of surrogacy does not make the practice intrinsically harmful,...

Pande tries to shed more light on the economic and psychological empowerment and opportunity
surrogacy has given women. Surrogates are introduced to medical services that are normally not
accessible to them. Over the course of her research, Pande shifted her position and stated that the
practice of surrogacy needs to be prohibited, and came to view surrogacy as ethical work that needs
regulation in order not to exploit the women and babies. She believes surrogate mothers must be
given the right to organize in labor unions and negotiate with the intended parents.
Pande thinks the long range solution is to relax surrogacy regulation in other countries so that
people don t need to leave their home countries to find surrogate mothers. She proposed an
international model of surrogacy founded on openness and transparency on three fronts: in the
structure of payments, in the medical process, and in the relationships forged within surrogacy.
CONCLUSION:
Opinion will continue to be divided on whether commercial surrogacy arrangements devalue
children and women in intangible ways. But what has become clear is that well designed
regulation can greatly mitigate most of the potential tangible harms of surrogacy, and this would
seem to be the appropriate function of law in a liberal society in response to an issue on which no
societal consensus

A Brief Look at Quantum Optics
Quantum optics tells us that left (l) and right (r) circularly polarized (CP) photon conveys integer
spin angular momentum, +в„Џ and в„Џ, respectively, although photon is massless elemental
particle. The nature of integer spin obeying Bose Einstein statics makes plural spins confine in an
ultrasmall temporalspace with the same quantum state, meanwhile, half integer spinlike electron
denies to share the same quantum state in a molecular space, well known as Pauli exclusion
principle. Intense CP photonacts as an energy source that preferentially generate optically active
substance from prochiral substances and/or to preferentially decompose one enantiomer from
racemic mixtures. On the other hand, weak CP photon is used as a probe to detect substance
chirality in the ground and photoexcited states, known as circular dichroism(CD), optical rotation
dispersion (ORD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) spectroscopy.1 Knowledge and
understanding an efficient generation and reversibility of optically active substances from achiral
precursors in the absence of chiral chemical influence has long been a challenging subject among
chemists and scientists. This approach called absolute asymmetric synthesis (AAS) is beneficial to
avoid multiple step synthesis that often require designed catalysts and specific chiral chemical
sources with high ee.2 So far, several AASs have been employed, including spontaneous symmetry
breaking crystallization, vortex stirring,3f 3h

firearm, although the charges were later on dropped after the superstar intimated allegations of
racism on the arresting officers. He was also charged with domestic abuse on his fiance Yvette

basing on a conflict between the good and the evil forces. The conclusion comes from aspirations

HIV and Treatment Adherence
Bobbi Marie Pollard
Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a
chronic illness, however, for those with access to health care and treatment, it is a very manageable
condition. Although it is no longer considered a death sentence in developed countries, it is still a
highly stigmatized illness. The public may no longer perceive HIV as the plague it once was, yet
there has been no decline in the number of new infections per year in the past decade in the United
States (Catalan et al., 2000). Today, people are living longer with HIV due to the development of
combination antiretroviral drug therapies (ART). ART has provided significant progress in treatment
(Linsk et al., 2002). Treatment accessibility and medication adherence are crucial in order to
continue manage the disease on both the individual and public level.
Overview of HIV/AIDS
HIV and AIDS are sometimes used interchangeably, although there is a significant difference, and
some HIV positive individuals will never develop Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
Testing HIV positive means there are antibodies present in the system. HIV is classified into two
phases: symptomatic and asymptomatic. Individuals show signs of a compromised immune system
during the symptomatic phase, although with treatment advances, many are living
asymptomatically. The progress of the illness can often be evaluated by looking at one s CD4 and

Myth Of Truth Analysis
Truth has always been a very vague and grey area for many people, it s something that cannot be
agreed on by every single person. Each person has their own set of past experiences that have built
upon their morals, values and ethics. This ties in with their overall idea of why they view truth and
lies in the way that do. Professor Hedrick is interesting in the way that she teaches literature through
the historical point of view, proving background information that enables students to build upon this
background knowledge and find the interpretation for that piece of literature. Much like our

The Olympic Games Of Ancient Greek Athletics
Stephen G. Miller, an expert Yale professor in the field of Ancient Greek athletics states that the
Olympics were held in honor of Zeus in the city of Olympia (Miller). The element of religion is
evident in this historical event. Many people have heard of the concepts of the Greek Gods, but
this level of religious involvement is interesting. These games were held for four days every fourth
summer , a tradition that partially continues to this day (Miller). Many festivals in ancient Greece
were dedicated to the Gods (Miller). In addition to the Olympic Games, there were also other
athletic festivals which included the Pythian Games at Delphi, the Isthmian at Corinth, and the
Nemean at Argos (Miller). However, the Olympics at Olympiawere the oldest and most prestigious
of the four great ancient Greek athletic festivals. The height of the Olympic Games occurs
between the fifth and fourth centuries B.C. During this period, the games became more and more
professionalized until they provoked much censure during the Roman period (Miller). This is
somewhat similar to the present day games where the competitors are supposed to be amateurs,
but many are professionals at their craft. Take for example the United States basketball squad. For
decades this team has consisted of the best professionals the country has to offer. This is still a
tradition, or problem, the games experience today. The Greek games were very nationalistic and it

Analysis of Amores Perros Essay
Analysis of Amores Perros The Urban Environment of Mexico City, As Presented in Amores Perros
Amores Perros represents the feature film directorial debut of Alejandro GonzГЎlez IГ±ГЎrritu and
was written by Guillermo Arriaga, the craftsman behind such acclained Hollywood successes as
21 Grams and Babel. It is perhaps no surprise then that this pairing, of inspired passion and
experienced creativity, resulted in a film that won 52 of the 69 total awards for which it was
nominated world wide, including the Ariel Award for Best Picture from the Mexican Academy of
Film and the Critics Week Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. But it is more than exceptional

Having no reason to hope for the fruitfulness of any long term goals or aspirations, Octavio s
immediate environment has shunt him off into a fixation upon what is immediately attainable
pursuing his brother s wife and chasing the money and increased social standing that comes with
fighting his dog. It comes as no surprise to the viewer, then, that these constraints placed upon
him by the particular urban environment in which he lives lead to his downfall. After
succeeding wildly through a number of dogfights, Octavio has earned enough money to
convince Susana that they can run away together, but he gets greedy and agrees to only last,
high stakes fight against a dog owned by the local gang leader, who has been Octavio s constant
nemesis and antagonist. Octavio descends to his lowest point, though, when at the same meeting
where he agrees to this final fight, he contracts with the ringleader of the dogfights to assault his
brother, who, as a result, is nearly beaten to death. This choice backfires on Octavio, as Susana is
now compelled to flee with her husband, taking with her all the money Octavio and Cofi had won.
This shows that working class life in Mexico City often produces in people aims which will only
exacerbate their situation. Learning of the betrayal, Octavio is outraged and is forced to scramble
together his remaining money to fund the bet of the final fight. At the fight, Cofi once again takes
the upper hand

Pop Art And Its Influence On American Culture
If Pop art was a from of realism, it was a realism that represented the ways American consumer
culture had altered the perception of reality itself. Pop artists imagined themselves confronting a
world in which the scale and compass of consumer capitalism, with its near total saturation of
society, exceeded traditional perceptual structures (Miller 598). Pop Artmovement took place in
various cities but mainly in New York in the sixties and became popular within two or three years.
Artist from this movement worked on imagery originally created for the base amusement of
lowbrows (Scherman 68). This movement took place to get rid of boundaries between high art and
low culture. I think the artist s concept behind their work to show everyone that there is no
hierarchy of culture. Pop Art was mainly about using other artists work and adding their own
influential characteristics to it. The three commonly known artist from Pop Art movement were
Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and James Rosenquist. Roy Lichtenstein lived in the Jersey
suburbs and was an art professor at Rutgers University. At the age 37 Roy was smuggling comic
strip characters into his otherwise unremarkable abstractions when it hit him: Why not make
paintings that look just like comic books (Scherman 71). He was even sued for copying others
work but people didn t notice that it was slightly different from Lichtenstein started painting comic
book characters because he was desperate and it was hard to

My Personal Favorite Communication Learning Goal Essay
Introduction
The second learning objective we have is Knowledge. Which is my personal favorite
communication learning goal. I feel like the majority of the classes i have had in the
communication major has taught me something about myself and the world around me.
Knowledge means viewing our personal or professional lives through its formalities, symbols,
beliefs, assumptions and values.
Personal Experience
In 2011, I left high school flustered. I did not know were I was headed, I couldn t see in a sense I
was in complete darkness. I left St. Catherine s perplexed, because I had no clue what to do with
my life. I believe this was partially due to the classes that I took at St. Catherine s. I did not really
have any classes that I thought that stood out to me. However, I do think that in high school i did
learn to be open minded. We were always taught to ask why? And I think that it is because of this
as to why I decided to become a Communications major. If you took a look at my DARS my
freshman year it would inform you that I was a nursing major. At the time it seemed like a good
idea to me because I liked helping people. But as time passed, I came to the realization that the
Nursing major was not for me. At the time I had two friends who were Communications Majors
one of them Samantha Altamarano. Who is a close friend of mine, showed me a paper she was
working on for Power and Privilege which is taught by Damian Evans. I remember reading her
paper and thinking

  • 2. The Resistance to Change As a person one might find that we follow a specific routine on the day to day basis. Sudden changes to these routines feels weird and out of place. In William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily based in a fictional town called Jefferson taking place during the twentieth century. The time period is indeed an important factor because southern tradition was above all of the highest importance. This short storygives the audience details of life during that time in which they followed the values of southern tradition and the importance to never stray away from those traditions. The context of the story is laced with subliminal messages of humanities resistance to change. In Faulkner s A Rose For Emily the lead character is the center piece of... In A Rose For Emily the narrator uses the rose as a symbol of resistance to change. Having been mentioned in both the title and in the bed next to the body of Homer. Symbolizing the romance of southern tradition (Kurtz 40). When a person receives the rose it is tradition to place it in the pages of a book preserving its memory (Kurtz 30). Homer Barron is himself A Rose For Emily and symbolizes southern tradition. By murdering Homer in the psychotic fashion detailed in the story she has preserved his memory for herself. His decaying body is symbolic for the rose left in the pages of the book (Kurtz 40). Like the Rose, Emily s watch which is usually connected to a chain in her pocket is symbolic. Having been placed in her pocket the loud ticking is a constant reminder of how change annoys Emily. The fact that the Keys 4 watch is not visible where she can watch time fly is an example of Emily s pathetic attempt to hide the passing of time and control change (Schwab 215). Emily can be compared to Queen Victoria known to adapt to traditional values and feared for straying away from those values (Dilworth 255). This comparison is the enhancement of Emily s fear of change because the queen herself was disgusted with the very idea of change. • 3. Prison Subculture In Prison When the average person thinks of jails and prisons, they typically think of horrible criminals being locked up in order to protect the rest of society. They think justice has been served, and those who did the crime are now doing the time. But what goes on inside a prison, and inside the minds of the inmates? What about after those offenders have served their time, and are now being released back into the general public? People don t really think about how prisonaffects a person s mentality, or how incarceration impacts both relationships the inmate currently has, or ones that will develop in the future. Although it isn t something most people think of first, incarceration is an experience that can have a negative psychological impact on a person for quite some time. Once you enter a prison, you are in a completely different world. The sound of the door as it closes drives the realization home: your freedom is gone. Whatever luxuries you had before are gone. Everything you once took for granted you now long for, and contemplate with reverence. This being the case, there are now two new sets of rules you have to follow: the rules of the staff, and the rules of the inmates. Of course, these will conflict, but you have to deal with it now. Prison subculture is different from the outside world and even varies between men s and women s. The men s subculture is probably the better known of the two. It has its own set of ebonics, attitudes, statuses, and values. Inmates say that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kardashian Women Keeping up with the Joneses For many when they think monsters they think of killers, rapist, or thieves but sometimes monster can come in the form of something a little less intimidating but still have the potentiality to eradicate and damage a society. One must realize the sometimes monsters are not that thing in your closet or under your bed or in a scary movie, but they are the ones that we see every day in every magazine, blog, and commercial. They are the ones with the biggest platform to potentially help society but instead decide to fill it with negativity and lies. The Kardashians are repeat offenders of cultural appropriation, which entails a majority group taking something form a marginalized, minority ethnic group, often for frivolous reasons or financial gain. ( 7 Things the Internet Needs to Learn about Kylie Jenner and Cultural Appropriation.). The Kardashians are known for their imitation of black culture. Not to long ago, Julee Wilson, of HuffingtonPost.com, exposed a magazine company for naming Kendall Jenner fashionista of the week for taking braids to a whole new level. All she had was cornrows, a simple style used by blacks for centuries. In an attempt to seem cultured the Kardashian clan ridicules other cultures. How Did The Influence Classical Greek Art The Influence of Classical Greek Art throughout the Eras The forms and styles of Classical Greek art were the essential backbone of artwork and have drawn inspiration for artists through various periods of art ranging from the beginning of the Roman Empire to present day art. The Classical Greek sculptures were typically composed of marble and the body forms had a much idealized style; where the forms represented ideal body types. One of the most popular sculpture forms during the Classical Greek art period during 600 to 300 BCE, was the male nude sculptures. The male nude sculptures represented the ideal male figure during the earlier centuries. One of the most popular male nude sculptures that represent Classical Art is the marble sculpture of Doryphorus (450 440 BCE) by Polykleitos. During the 1st Century, a marble sculpture of Augustus of Primaporta was made which displayed the ruler in a powerful stance as a young leader. In comparison to the Greek sculpture of Doryphorus, both marble statues display movement; however the Roman sculpture had the purpose of displaying power and not looking as relaxed and idealistic as the Greek sculpture. The holds for the brattices can still be seen today. The walls were filled with rubble beneath the initial layer to absorb the impact from cannon fire and stop the wall from crumbling. Crenulations on the top of the curtain walls had wooden flaps to allow archers to shoot from quickly and not get hit by enemy fire. We saw evidence of this on the Carisbrooke Castle fieldtrip, where there were small notches in the stone for the flap hinges. The main gatehouse and drawbridge, with two square towers on either side, was built in 1136 too. Between the two sturdy gates and portcullises was the murder zone , which allowed defenders to pour hot oil and sand etc over invaders as they tried to enter. Later developments to the gatehouse at around 1378 included the square towers being changed to circular drum towers and crossbow loopholes being added because of the aforementioned device being invented. Another major development around this period was the barbican. The barbican ensured that to get close to the gatehouse, invading troops would have to walk around the barbican first exposing their sides to fire from the drum towers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence from studies indicates that negative self evaluations among people including adults and adolescents play a role in the occurrence of major depressive disorders (MDD). It is theorized that effective depression interventions work towards improving self evaluations among patients. For instance, particular self evaluations include applying self efficacy, positive thoughts on body image, and physical self confidence (Brosse et al., 2002 Palmer, 2005). The evidence suggests that improved self evaluations may mediate antidepressant results of exercise. Exercise has been established to have significant psychological effects on an individual s self esteem, primarily those with depression. Self esteem is related to body image compared to any other characteristics of self. According to Doyne, Ossip Klein, Bowman, Osborn, McDougall and Neimey (1987), as individuals exercise regularly, they are most likely to acquire increased physical benefits such as weight loss, muscle strength, and increased respiratory fitness. Such improvements in the physical features of an individual lead to positive personal perceptions and a boost in self esteem. In a study conducted to establish the effects of exercise on adolescents with depression, Carter, Guo, Turner, Morres, Khalil, Brighton and Callaghan (2015) found that after completion of the study using aerobic exercises, the mood of 26 participants dropped and they showed signs of sadness. • 14. How Wages are Determined in a Perfectly Competitive Labour... How Wages are Determined in a Perfectly Competitive Labour Market As in other markets, the supply and demand of labour determines the price (wage rate) and the quantity (number of people employed). The labour market is different from other markets (like the markets for goods) in several ways. The most important of these differences is the function of supply and demand in setting price and quantity. In markets for goods, if the price is high, in the long run more goods will probably be produced until the demand is satisfied. However, with labour, overall supply cannot in fact be fixed because people have a limited amount of time in the day, and people are not manufactured. A rise in overall wages... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A decrease in demand would cause the opposite. An increase in supply, however, would cause a shift down the demand curve therefore lowering wage rates and quantity of labour. A shift in the supply curve of labour could be caused in many ways. If labour became more or less productive, this would cause the MRP curve to move MRP = Marginal revenue product. This is a theory of wages where workers are paid the MRP to the firm. The price of a substitute could also change i.e. if the price of a substitute goes down, say a certain type of capital, then the demand for that labour will fall. The demand for the product could also change. If the demand for the product could also change e.g. if the demand increases, this would mean a higher price. This in turn would give a higher wage rate as wage is determined by MRP which is MPP(marginal physical product X price). The demand for labour is a derived demand. This means it is decided by how another factor changes e.g. if the demand for a product increases, the demand for labour in that field will increase. If demand for a product increases, this means a higher price and a higher quantity will be produced (for profit maximisation). This would cause the MRP curve to shift outwards, which in turn would mean a higher wage rate, or possibly that more workers are taken on. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rest of the paper provides a discussion of the evidence backing these points and the ways in which they can be implemented. However, they qualify this statement, maintaining that this is not a final conclusion since the review contained a small number of studies, none of them longitudinal. The first important implication this paper emphasizes is that there is a strong need for mental diseases to be looked at on par with other diseases associated with poverty. There is no doubt today that mental disorders form a significant public health burden (WHO report, 2001). One category of mental illness unipolar depressive disorders is placed third among leading causes of burden of disease in terms of Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) globally (Global Burden of Disease, WHO, 2004). This is more than that for ischemic heart diseases or even HIV/AIDS. Yet, there is a big discrepancy between the magnitude of mental illness burden (especially in low and middle income countries) and the resources devoted to addressing it (Tomlinson, 2009). At the root of this issue is the stigma associated with mental illness. Public stigma and internalized stigma (negative attitudes held by stigmatized individuals about themselves) associated with having a mental illness negatively affect a person s attitude and intentions toward seeking mental health services (Conner, 2010). Stigma also affects the way policy makers and donors perceive the need to allocate funds and resources to a cause. If common mental disorders are viewed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Cruelty In Machiavelli In The Prince, Machiavelli even discusses the best and most effective ways of using cruelty. Machiavelli says; I think it s a question of whether cruelty is well or badly used. Cruelty well used is short lived and decisive, no more than is necessary to secure your position and then stop (The Prince, XIII). Machiavelli s governing code is completely absent of ethical concerns. He hates Christianity and is attempting to remove its influence on the mindset of rulers. This indeed would not sit well with Socrates. He would disapprove of this new moral code and any state governed by it. Socrates believes that when deciding to perform an action the only consideration you should take is if that action is ethically sound. Cruelty is objectively unjust and unethical. Socrates would never advocate its use no matter how beneficial it is to the state. Socrates believes under no circumstances should one knowingly commit an unjust act. While in prison Socrates, says to Crito; there is no sense in which an act of injustice is good or honorable (Crito, 49a). Socrates would not support a system that advocates the use of cruelty and other vicious actions for political gain. Machiavelli and Socrates respective beliefs on political thought are shaped by how they view the world. Machiavelli looks at the world through a realist scope. He sees the world as how it is, not how it should be. Machiavelli is often dubbed the father of realism and his ideal political system reflects that. He believes the paramount interest of a state is to protect its political autonomy. He instructs princes to be cunning, deceitful, and constantly suspicious of other rulers. The Prince will be judged by the results of his reign rather than the means he used to achieve them. War for Machiavelli is good; it allows the Prince to broadcast his power, instilling fear in other rulers. Socrates would oppose this mindset and outlook on the world. Othman project brief to a certain stage. This perspective hinders the interaction between the client and the designer and impedes exploiting value opportunities and managing risk threats caused by brief development drivers. In order to overcome the limitations of the current briefing approaches, the Dynamic Brief Development (DBD) concept was developed. This concept supports and encourages brief development throughout the project life cycle as an approach to achieve client satisfaction and respond in an innovative manner to the brief development drivers, improve the briefing process, and to manage change orders effectively [6].

Dahl wrote How Democratic Is the American Constitution? without the purpose to change our American Constitution but to adjust the way we think about it. Now, I know that the framers did not have a set example of a successful form of government to base the constitution off of nor could they predict the future. That goes to show how smart the framers were to be able to create such a brilliant and resourceful constitution in the period of time that they did, along with the knowledge and technology of their time period. The Five year plan was a huge success in promoting industrial development, coal production quadrupled from 1927 (35 million tons) to 150 million by 1940, followed by steel increasing six times and then followed by electricity. Anderson makes the comparison of surrogates to a hatchery. Again, Anderson herself degrades surrogates by removing their autonomy and projecting them as docile and incompetent creatures who cannot enter into a contract without being exploited. Arneson rebuts this assertion by asking the question why is it permissible for a womanto act as a surrogate for a friend or familymember (Altruistic Surrogacy) but as soon as money is entered into the equation (Commercial Surrogacy), it becomes morally unacceptable. Pande tries to shed more light on the economic and psychological empowerment and opportunity surrogacy has given women. Surrogates are introduced to medical services that are normally not accessible to them. Over the course of her research, Pande shifted her position and stated that the practice of surrogacy needs to be prohibited, and came to view surrogacy as ethical work that needs regulation in order not to exploit the women and babies. She believes surrogate mothers must be given the right to organize in labor unions and negotiate with the intended parents. Pande thinks the long range solution is to relax surrogacy regulation in other countries so that people don t need to leave their home countries to find surrogate mothers. She proposed an international model of surrogacy founded on openness and transparency on three fronts: in the structure of payments, in the medical process, and in the relationships forged within surrogacy. CONCLUSION: Opinion will continue to be divided on whether commercial surrogacy arrangements devalue children and women in intangible ways. But what has become clear is that well designed regulation can greatly mitigate most of the potential tangible harms of surrogacy, and this would seem to be the appropriate function of law in a liberal society in response to an issue on which no societal consensus ... • 31. A Brief Look at Quantum Optics Quantum optics tells us that left (l) and right (r) circularly polarized (CP) photon conveys integer spin angular momentum, +в„Џ and в„Џ, respectively, although photon is massless elemental particle. The nature of integer spin obeying Bose Einstein statics makes plural spins confine in an ultrasmall temporalspace with the same quantum state, meanwhile, half integer spinlike electron denies to share the same quantum state in a molecular space, well known as Pauli exclusion principle. Intense CP photonacts as an energy source that preferentially generate optically active substance from prochiral substances and/or to preferentially decompose one enantiomer from racemic mixtures. On the other hand, weak CP photon is used as a probe to detect substance chirality in the ground and photoexcited states, known as circular dichroism(CD), optical rotation dispersion (ORD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) spectroscopy.1 Knowledge and understanding an efficient generation and reversibility of optically active substances from achiral precursors in the absence of chiral chemical influence has long been a challenging subject among chemists and scientists. This approach called absolute asymmetric synthesis (AAS) is beneficial to avoid multiple step synthesis that often require designed catalysts and specific chiral chemical sources with high ee.2 So far, several AASs have been employed, including spontaneous symmetry breaking crystallization, vortex stirring,3f 3h ... Hiv And Treatment Adherence By Bobbi Marie Pollard HIV and Treatment Adherence Bobbi Marie Pollard Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a chronic illness, however, for those with access to health care and treatment, it is a very manageable condition. Although it is no longer considered a death sentence in developed countries, it is still a highly stigmatized illness. The public may no longer perceive HIV as the plague it once was, yet there has been no decline in the number of new infections per year in the past decade in the United States (Catalan et al., 2000). Today, people are living longer with HIV due to the development of combination antiretroviral drug therapies (ART). ART has provided significant progress in treatment (Linsk et al., 2002). Treatment accessibility and medication adherence are crucial in order to continue manage the disease on both the individual and public level. Overview of HIV/AIDS HIV and AIDS are sometimes used interchangeably, although there is a significant difference, and some HIV positive individuals will never develop Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Testing HIV positive means there are antibodies present in the system. HIV is classified into two phases: symptomatic and asymptomatic. Individuals show signs of a compromised immune system during the symptomatic phase, although with treatment advances, many are living asymptomatically. The progress of the illness can often be evaluated by looking at one s CD4 and viral load ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Miller, an expert Yale professor in the field of Ancient Greek athletics states that the Olympics were held in honor of Zeus in the city of Olympia (Miller). The element of religion is evident in this historical event. Many people have heard of the concepts of the Greek Gods, but this level of religious involvement is interesting. These games were held for four days every fourth summer , a tradition that partially continues to this day (Miller). Many festivals in ancient Greece were dedicated to the Gods (Miller). In addition to the Olympic Games, there were also other athletic festivals which included the Pythian Games at Delphi, the Isthmian at Corinth, and the Nemean at Argos (Miller). However, the Olympics at Olympiawere the oldest and most prestigious of the four great ancient Greek athletic festivals. The height of the Olympic Games occurs between the fifth and fourth centuries B.C. During this period, the games became more and more professionalized until they provoked much censure during the Roman period (Miller). This is somewhat similar to the present day games where the competitors are supposed to be amateurs, but many are professionals at their craft. Take for example the United States basketball squad.
