SyMBA (http://symba.sf.net) is a data archive and integrator based on Version 1 of the Functional Genomics Experiment (FuGE, http://fuge.sf.net) Object Model (FuGE-OM), and which archives, stores, and retrieves raw high-throughput data. Until now, few published systems have successfully integrated multiple omics data types and information about experiments in a single database. SyMBA includes a database back-end, expert and standard interfaces, and a Life Science Identifier (LSID) Resolution and Assigning service to identify objects and provide programmatic access to the database. Having a central data repository prevents deletion, loss, or accidental modification of primary data, while giving convenient access to the data for publication and analysis. It also provides a central location for storage of metadata for the high-throughput data sets, and will facilitate subsequent data integration strategies.
We encourage the use, installation and development of SyMBA by other groups. Please let us know if you are interested in using or evaluating SyMBA for use at your own Centre. Contact us: symba-devel at lists.sourceforge.net

Presentation about the article written by Hans Peter Schöner at the Magazine Elsevier: Control Engineering Practice, done for the class "Design of Mechatronic Systems" at the Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla. It includes the definition of Mechatronics, the diference between an automated system and a mechatronics one, the actual mechatronic systems in the vehicles and the limitations for the future development of the automotive industry which can be solved using Mechatronic with a proposed Development process.
Slides of a talk given at the Workshop on Specialized Networks held in Conjunction with ETFA 2009.
The use of networks for communications between the Electronic Control Units (ECU) of a vehicle in production cars dates from the beginning of the 90s. The specific requirements of the different car domains have led to the development of a large number of automotive networks such as LIN, J1850, CAN, FlexRay, MOST, etc..
This talk first introduces the context of in-vehicle embedded systems and, in particular, the requirements imposed on the communication systems. Then, we highlight future trends in the development of automotive communication systems.
Slides from Madani Sahari's talk on Malaysia's National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2014 & the automotive industry at the Asian Automotive World Class Manufacturing Summit 2015, Jakarta.
PlanetData project was presented by Elena Simperl and Barry Norton from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology at the 1st International Symposium on Data-driven Process Discovery and Analysis on June 30, 2011 in Campione d’Italia, Italy

The Semantic Web is a mesh of information linked up in such a way as to be easily processable by machines, on a global scale. You can think of it as being an efficient way of representing data on the World Wide Web, or as a globally linked database.

This presentation was provided by Teresa Hazen of the University of Arizona, Geoff Morse of Northwestern University, and Ken Varnum of The University of Michigan. It served as the slide deck for the NISO event "ODI Conformance Statement Workshop for Libraries," and was held on October 17, 2022.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
