DeeDee Pritchett is proposing a senior project where she will write a training manual on how to get in shape physically and mentally for a S.W.A.T. team tryout. She will observe actual tryouts and organize the manual with her facilitator, Lieutenant Olie Cushing, an active member of the S.W.A.T. team. DeeDee and two others will then follow the training manual, tracking their progress towards completing a mock tryout to be evaluated by her facilitator. The project will cost between $75-100 and challenge DeeDee by requiring continuous fitness over an extended period.

1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
The overall topic for my senior project is writing a training manual and following it to get in
shape for the S.W.A.T team tryouts.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
The previous experience I have in this area is taking Law and Justice. I have taken law and
justice courses for two consecutive years.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this project to the S.W.A.T team (Special weapons and Tactics).
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on
the back of this sheet if necessary.
I will be making a training manual about how to get in shape both physically and mentally for
the S.W.A.T team try outs. On August 28th I will be observing at the S.W.A.T team tryouts. I

2. will then organize a training manual with my facilitator on how to get fit for the tryouts and to
mentally bring myself to a comfortable place. After I have finished the book I and two other
people will be following the book. We will track our progress as we go along and take notes on
our progress. Afterwards, after completing the steps needed, I will set up a try out, as I have seen
done during the actual tryouts, then, my facilitator will determine whether we could make it in
the real tryouts.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
This project is a learning stretch for me because I am a very busy student. I have never
continuously kept in shape. Nor have any of the other people following the book. Getting
through the training and tryouts may be an extremely hard for us.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
My estimated cost for this project ranges from 75-100 dollars. The money will go towards food
for the possible diet and supplies for the book.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I have chosen Lieutenant Olie Cushing as my project facilitator.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
Lieutenant Cushing is an active member on the S.W.A.T team. He is a member of the
Cherokee County Police Department in Canton, Georgia.
