All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project. Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
I plan to host a pole vault camp to teach both beginners and advanced vaulters how to pole vault and
improve their technique.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
I have pole vaulted for three years.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
Coaching
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
I will take a lot of time learning how to teach beginning athletes the form and noticing the important
aspects of the jump to look for from my coach. I will have to then come up with a workout plan for
the different level of athletes I expect to have in the camp. My coach will that host a camp at
Kennesaw State University that I will help coach in.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
Instead of simply doing what the coach tells me, I will have to reverse roles and actually be able to
teach others the form. I will have to develop a “coach’s eye,” and throughout teaching, I will be able
to better understand the form and improve my own vaulting abilities.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
As I will not have to provide for any equipment such as poles, there will not be much of a cost. We
will provide snacks and water for the athletes as well as DVD’s explaining the form. In order to fund
these costs, I plan to charge a small fee for joining the camp per athlete.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I hope to ask my private coach, Robbie Robertson to facilitate.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
He is the pole vault coach at Kennesaw State and has 30 plus years of experience in coaching pole
vault.
