Appeal to a niche audience, mostly people
in schools, colleges and universities by
airing relatable programmes to young
adult life
Main demographic is under 18’s. also
appeal to 18-24 yr.olds
Appeal to both males and females. Mainly
females from the types of drama (comedy
drama, romantic drama)
They appeal to the mainstreamers and
the strugglers
6. E4 - Origins
Began as a bonus subscription channel
with the main channel, Channel 4.
Because of its large popularity became
part of the Freeview channels to attract a
larger audience.
It was also part of the Sky satellite
package.
7. E4 – Types of
programmes televised
(remit)
Usually broadcasts drama with
a majorly teen cast, set in
Britain, follows ordinary lives
of these teens and the
problems they face. (Skins,
My Mad, Fat Diary)
The channel aims to stimulate
debate, share alternative
views and show cultural
diversity within Britain.
8. Sky Living - Audience
Sky living mainly aim their programming
at a female audience around the age of 35
and younger
They appeal to a wide audience with a
focus on action and “real-life”
Their psychographics would primarily
appeal to the mainstreamers and the
aspirers
9. Sky Living - Origins
Sky Living, used to be UK Living, began
broadcasting September 1st 1993
It was originally owned by a three-way
partnership, ITV being the main
contributor
The channel was originally aimed a
women between 25-45
Sky then bought the rights and rebranded
it Sky Living in early 2011
