Hunter Udall proposes to plan and run a youth wrestling tournament as his senior project. He will send notifications to a local wrestling club to invite up to 220 wrestlers. He will also coach young athletes to prepare them for the tournament. On December 15-16, 2012 at Creekview High School, Hunter will divide wrestlers by age and weight for bouts, find experienced referees, and coach the athletes he has been training. This project will allow Hunter to learn the skills of coaching and planning athletic events. He has zero projected costs and will use school facilities and coaching resources. Hunter's project facilitator will be his former wrestling coach and math teacher, John Judkins, who has experience coaching and running tournaments.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Francesca Gottschalk from the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation presents at the Ask an Expert Webinar: How can education support child empowerment?
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. Creekview Senior Project Proposal Form 2012-13
Student Name (please print): Hunter Udall
Address: 220 lacy road
Home Phone: 770-479-6567 E-mail: hkudall@yahoo.com
Teacher: Mrs. Lester Date: 17 August 2012
All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project. Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
The overall topic for my senior project is planning and running a youth wrestling tournament. Also, I
will be coaching youth wrestlers to prepare for the tournament.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
I am a wrestler for Creekview High School, but have never gotten a chance to coach or figure out how
the tournament is run or planned.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this project to the career of coaching.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
First, I will send out forms and notifications on the wrestling tournament to wrestling athletes. I will
do this by sending a form to Team Georgia, a wrestling club that partakes in many wrestling events.
This tournament will only adhere to no more than two-hundred-and-twenty wrestlers. Next, I will
coach young athletes to prepare them for a youth tournament. Following that, I will create bouts and
set up the wrestling tournament. I will divide the wrestlers with their own age groups (as weight does
not matter because it will be a beginner’s tournament). Also, I will find referees that have experience
in referring or in the sport, such as wrestling coaches from high schools, around the wrestling
community. Finally, I will hold the wrestling tournament, at Creekview, on Saturday through Sunday
December 15-16th, 2012, and coach the athletes that I have worked with previously during the
tournament.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
2. This will be a learning stretch for me because it will show you all of the different qualities a coach
needs to have to be successful with their job. Coaches work on everything from teaching to planning
events for their athletes and this will give me the opportunity to do exactly that.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
I have an estimated cost of zero dollars. I plan on using resources around me, such as other coaches
for referees and the school building has been reserved for me already on the dates that I have set.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I have chosen a former wrestling coach and math teacher of Creekview high school by the name of
John Judkins to be my project facilitator.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
Mr. Judkins has been a wrestling coach for several years and is recently the head junior varsity coach
for Creekview high school wrestling. He has also planned and run many wrestling tournaments
throughout his years of coaching.
