Creekview senior project proposal form 2012
1. Creekview Senior Project Proposal Form 2012-13
Student Name Nathan Pelletier
Teacher Susan Lester
Date 16 August, 2012
All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project. Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview
High School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
I‟m planning to complete a heptathlon during the spring Track and Field season, which
consists of 7 track events. The school does not offer some of the regular events needed to
complete a heptathlon; therefore, I will need to change some events.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
2. I am currently the record holder for both of the throwing events that the school has to
offer, I'm also state ranked in these events. I also enjoy running, and who doesn't love jumping as
far as they can!
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I would love to be a Youth Track and Field director. I love hanging around children, and
teaching them something that they want to get better at. The idea of one day being an Olympian
came to mind also.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on
the back of this sheet if necessary.
The product of this project is more of a self-goal. I‟ve always wanted to compete in more
than just my events to see if I was any good at them. I will start training for all of the events I am
participating in on the first day of practice. If I do end up being better than some people, I will
receive a medal in either the first or second home meet which occur on the 14th and 28th of
February and also the satisfaction of winning in an event that I know very little about.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
The learning end of this project is training with all of the coaches, not just my facilitator,
in meeting my goals for this event. I will need to be well endured to complete the running events
first and still have enough „oomph‟ in me to complete the remaining events in the meet. I will
3. need to work on my plyometrics for the jumping events, and also my speed for the sprints on the
meet.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
I plan to buy shoes needed for all the events, not including new tennis shoes. The cost
will be near $70.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I have already asked my throwing coach, Coach Tim Smyrl, to facilitate the project.
Although he has yet to give a straight answer, I will also need some assistance from the other
Track coaches.
8) What is this person‟s expertise in this field?
Tim Smyrl has been a Track coach since the school opened. He was also a thrower in
high school.
