Natural Resource Management:
Agroforestry Systems: (Faidherbia albida; Guiera senegalensis) - Reverse Phenology (does
not compete for resources with crops – opposite seasons); Hydraulic Lift (supplies water
during the off-season); Nutrient Recycling (sheds leafs; cattle rest in shade and provides
manure); Biochar: Organic soil amendment; helps improve soil quality. Significant changes
and improvements observed in soil pH.
Cropping Systems Management:
Dual-Purpose Pearl Millet (Genotype and Fertilizer): Developing new fertilizer management
practices across different agro-ecologies. Evaluating dual-purpose millet genotypes (with high
biomass, grain yield and nutrient density); Pearl Millet / Cowpea and Peanut Intercropping:
Evaluating species interaction, and integrated soil fertility management.
Livestock Systems Management:
Animal Feeding: Evaluating impact of dual purpose millet on productivity of livestock.
Manure Management: Improving methods of manure management and systems.
