The question:
As governor, how will your administration improve cybersecurity for the state's Critical Infrastructures?
The CoS asked you to research and prepare a draft for the background briefing. Your draft must provide enough information that the CoS and the Governor understand key terms that you use in your explanations. To that end, your draft briefing must answer the following questions:
What is meant by "cybersecurity" for critical infrastructures?" Give examples of critical infrastructure associated with a specific state.
What is meant by "Threats" (i.e. individual hackers, politically motivated hacktivists, criminal enterprises, and unfriendly "nation state" actors), countermeasures, and safeguards? Explain technical terms and examples.
What are the three most important actions that the governor's administration should take to help improve the security of critical infrastructures in the state? (You should identify and discuss these in greater detail than your response to the first two bullet points.)

You are working at Johnson and Cohen law firm and have recently been assigned to lead the appeal of a man convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to death.
The defendant has never had an IQ test, but friends and family insist that he has always been a little “slow“ his entire life. He was also diagnosed with autism earlier in his life and many of his former acquaintances thought he had psychiatric problems when they knew him.
These factors were never brought up at trial by the defendant's previous defense team because they wanted to focus on mitigating circumstances surrounding the crime that was committed rather than confusing the issue with too many different defenses.
Based on the Case Study for this week, submit a 6 page case analysis using Microsoft Word that answers the following questions:
How would your team argue during the appeal that the defendant's constitutional rights were violated?
What evidence would be required for your defendant to be considered mentally retarded under
Atkins v. Virginia
and
Penry v. Lynaugh (1989)
?
Assess whether or not that evidence can be presented in this case.
What evidence would be required for your defendant to be considered insane under
Ford v. Wainwright (1986)
? Assess whether or not that evidence can be presented in this case.
Do you believe that bringing up the defendant's diagnosis of autism could have aided in the defense in the sentencing phase? Would the contention that he was mentally slow have helped? Provide rationale for your answers.
Identify other aspects of the case not mentioned in the scenario that could benefit the defendant. For instance, consider whether the Supreme Court has found it unconstitutional to apply the death penalty in other circumstances.
If you succeed in your appeal, what would be the next steps to occur?

Jose is scheduled at 0900; he is a nine-year-old Hispanic male born in Mexico. He and his family (Mom, Dad, and six siblings, ages six months to 14 years) moved into the area just a few months ago. Jose’s mother reported that he had nearly died at two months after contracting pertussis.
Your final patient of the morning is Irena, a 15-year-old teenage female who lives with her aunt in Maynard. Irena is Romanian and barely speaks any English. Her aunt has been your patient for the past few years, and she told you that Irena had been abducted in Romania at the age of 10. Irena’s parents found her quite by accident when a sex trafficking ring dumped all their “product” in a refugee camp in Serbia just a few months ago. Irena’s parents are still in Romania, but they sent Irena here to live with her aunt.

You are the new Public Information Officer (PIO) assigned by the Chief of Police. You work for a mid-sized metropolitan police agency that has always relied on the utilization of a city information officer for any media or public communication. Until now, your agency never had an assigned public information officer specifically for the police department. Your agency is growing and is expected to add an additional 25 patrol officers in the next two years.
These added officer positions are in addition to a newly created Federal Task Force, where two new detective positions were added. These positions will create a larger budget for the police department and you have been informed that taxpayers are not necessarily receptive to these costs. As the new PIO, you are required to submit a written communication plan to the Chief of Police detailing how you would draft public notification of the departmental growth and change, reassignments of patrol areas, and overall agency changes occurring in relation to these positions.
Write
a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper that addresses the following:
Describe the genre of communication you would use such as a paper format, social media, public announcement, press release, or a televised media conference.
If increased social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, required for the departmental growth.
How far ahead of these positions being hired would you relay the message?
What do you do with citizens who communicate an opposition the hiring of additional officer causing extra taxes?
Who are your stakeholders in this public notice?
What are the differing concerns of internal communication versus external communication on this issue?
How often would you follow up on the notification? Quarterly, monthly, or annually?

(in addition to the title page and references page) on the articles you selected for Week 2, synthesizing the findings in the articles that you found on your topic. You may incorporate other articles or references to support your discussion, as needed. Use APA citation and reference guidelines.
What is a literature review?
A literature review is a synthesis and critique of the published research in a given area of research. Your focus is on the findings of the studies you are exploring – their methods, approach, results, and implications – rather than the broad topic overall. It should synthesize findings in specific areas. Thus, you should look for themes in the range of articles and write about them as you group common themes.
Synthesize the material you found. In other words, find connected themes in the different areas you cover. Occasionally you might discuss individual articles, but only if the article is very unique and no other article has similar findings. The synthesis should focus strictly on existing, published research.
What else should you include besides a synthesis of research?
Be sure to include in your review other potential areas that still need to be explored. What unanswered questions are there? What holes are in the research that you have not yet found answers to? What contradictions are in the research will you seek to explore?
Examples of Synthesized Findings for Literature Review:
College students were found to have a large number of conflicts with roommates (Darsey, 2003; Smith, 2001; Yarmouth, 2005). Researchers also found that roommate conflicts were most frequent during the first semester of college (Lotspiech, 2004; Nominskee, 2001; Zackarov, 2000). Morissey (2004) found a reduction of roommate conflicts continued as students progressed from freshman to seniors, with seniors having the fewest roommate conflicts. However, Ellensworth (2001) found no correlation with year in school and frequency of roommate conflict. The contradiction between Ellensworth’s and Morissey’s findings suggest that additional research is needed in this area.
Ellensworth’s (2001) research was strictly quantitative, lacking a full picture of the contexts or reasons for the specific conflicts. It asked people to mark the frequency of their conflicts and types of people with whom they typically disputed. Morissey (2004) conducted interviews that allowed participants to provide an explanation for the reasons for the conflicts, and the contexts (dorm roommates, apartment roommates, house roommates, etc.). However, she interviewed far fewer people than Ellensworth surveyed.
Combining Ellensworth’s surveys with Morissey’s interview questions and utilizing a research team to increase the number of interviews could provide more details about the conflicts and contexts, and allow us to further look into the question of year in school and conflict behavior.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

In every advertisement McDonald’s always underlines that it is

are telling people that McDonald’s is waiting for everyone to
find something interesting for himself or herself. I chose to talk
about the McDonalds’s ad: dad. Because I believe this ad has
strong Pathos, Ethos and Design.
Firstly, the ad has interesting Pathos. Which means to persuade
an audience by emotions and what the author wants them to
feel. I think the relationship between pictures and written
material is very strong from the first look. When someone looks
at the text, it tells a story of a mom who shares her feelings by
emphasizing that her husband becomes a child when they are
going to visit McDonalds. The text is written informally to be
easy for viewing and understanding. There are several sentences
in the text, which is enough to underline the main pros of
McDonald’s without making anybody tired of reading it. There
are little hearts over the text; it describes emotions that belong
to the mother who is sharing her feelings about her husband and
son.
What I found interesting about this ad, is both dad and son
5. were not wearing shoes. I believe It has strong impact on the
viewer’s understanding of this ad. Not wearing shoes means that
these people are currently at home. Where they feeling
themselves in the most comfortable way. By feeling empathy,
the viewer begins to feel the same emotion of safety and
empathy.
Secondly, I found that the ad has strong Ethos too. Which
means that the author wants to show to his audience that he has
good sources and it’s worth listening too. So I think the picture
of father playing with his son and the text is the most important
part in the ad. Every image and every word has its own place
and meaning. From the first view of the ad, we can see two
people enjoying playing together. It is clear that it is dad and
son. When someone looks at the image it creates a very positive
and good mood. Because when the viewer feels that way, he
will come to McDonald’s for sure. It seems that dad and son
have the happiest moments in their life. When the ad comes
with children, People who look at the ad will pay more attention
to them, children are cute creatures and I believe children they
create sign of hope and happiness to people’s life.
Finally, the Design of this ad. I think it is simple and catchy at
the same time. I think this ad is quite effective and persuasive
to me. When someone looks at the background of this ad, it’s
white; people usually use the white background for ads that
have images. Color white means something positive like
goodness, safety, protection, perfection and heaven.
McDonald’s advertisements meant to use color white to share
the positive things to everybody. Of course there is a famous
McDonald’s logo in the bottom in right corner of the
advertisement. Which usually says: “I’m lovin’ it “, so it is
enough to look at the poster for one second to understand what
the whole ad is about. In addition, McDonald’s use people of
different skin color and different social status in their ads. I
think that this poster belongs to a series of posters, which
6. describes other families with different social position. In this
poster, these are black family, they are African Americans and
they belong originally from Africa. In the ad, these people look
healthy, happy and in a good shape.

Avatar 2009
Avatar 2009 is a sci-fi movie, which was directed by James
Cameron. The film stars are Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and
Sigourney Weaver. One of Cameron's past movies that he is
known for is titanic .The Movie Avatar can be considered a
good sci-fi movie. Because of the quality of the story, its set
design and visual effects.
Avatar simply tells a story of a world called Pandora, a
vigorously forested moon circling the planet Polyphemus
situated in Alpha Centauri star system. The main point of the
7. story is respecting Mother Nature, other cultures and protecting
Natural Habitat. The film is set in the year 2148, and the world
common resources are totally developed. The Na'vi live in
Pandora and they follow their culture that known as the
Omaticaya .The heroes of the movie are: Jake Sully played by
Sam Worthington, after his twin brother death, Jake offers to
take his job as part of a science group on Pandora.Neytiri
played by Zoe Saldana, a little girl of the family's founder
Eytukan the father, and Mo’at as the mother. People would like
the story because Humans in the movie are trying to destroy the
Na’vi’s and their culture to get what they want, so what
happened in the end, a war between Humans and Na’vi’s. The
enemy is Parker Giovanni; he started the war with his team.
Additionally, they destroyed the Na'vi's holy tree (the tree of
souls), to get to one of the biggest stores of unobtanium.
Another thing what makes Avatar a good movie its set design.
The set design is considered a work of art. When someone think
about set design the first thing comes to his mind is how an
avatar is created. The world Pandora. The floating mountains,
The AMP suits and every creature in the movie. “Amount of
primary research would go into planning a set design, using
paintings, photography’s and other evidence of period or
contemporary life, artistic license would prevail the essence of
a place or period in the middle zone.”(Street, Sarah)
The whole movie is made with visual effects; the extraordinary
use of lights and different colors draws people’s attention. For
example, the waterfalls and the sky are introduced with special
use of lights and colors. The color of the Avatar body and how
it is created to match Jake body. “The first part of Jake’s
voyage for this is, above all, a boy’s rocking adventure, if one
populated by the usual tough Cameron chicks takes him from a
wheelchair into a 10-foot, blue-skinned Na’vi body. At once
familiar and pleasingly exotic, the humanoid Na’vi come with
supermodel dimensions slender hips, a miniature-apple rear;
long articulated digits, the better to grip with; and the slanted
eyes and twitchy ears of a cat. The gently curved stripes that
8. line their blue skin, the color of twilight, bring to mind the
markings on mackerel tabby cats. For Jake his avatar, which he
hooks into through sensors while lying in a remote pod in a
semiconscious state, is at first a giddy novelty and then a means
to liberation.” (Manohla Dargis, 2009), including the reality
camera system, to film in three dimensions-3D.” An Eden in
three dimensions, that is. In keeping with his maximalist
tendencies, Mr. Cameron have shot Avatar in 3-D because many
theaters are not equipped to show 3-D, the movie will also be
shown in the usual 2, an experiment that serves his material
beautifully. This isn’t the 3-D of the 1950s or even
contemporary films, those flicks that try to give you a virtual
poke in the eye with flying spears. Rather Mr. Cameron uses 3-
D to amplify the immersive experience of spectacle cinema.
Instead of bringing you into the movie with the customary
tricks, with a widescreen or even Imax image filled with
sweeping landscapes and big action, he uses 3-D seemingly to
close the space between the audience and the screen. He brings
the movie to you.”(Manohla Dargis, 2009)
In conclusion, movie Avatar obviously presents James
Cameron's efforts and the time taken to make persuasive story
with great visual impact. It was a good sci-fi movie because of
the quality of the story. I think the movie is sending a message
to people to respect Mother Nature and other Cultures, even if
we are in different world. I haven’t seen a Sci –Fi movie like it.
The set Design and the visual effects of the movie were
wonderful and creative.

My First Year Car Accident
11. My first day of classes at Wright State was on Monday at 8:00
am. That day, my schedule said that I had only 2 classes. My
mom was excited more than me, and she surprised me with a
new car she bought as a gift for my first year in university. I
was happy and so shocked at the same time that I could not
believe it. So I took the car for a ride to reach my first class on
time, which was at 9:30 am. My mom told me to take care, do
not speed, and drive safely.
I was scheduled to have two classes, which ended at 2:00 pm. I
was walking on campus when I heard a storm coming, from my
classmates. Later on, exactly after half hour, the snow started to
fall down and covered all the streets, and everything outside
was completely invisible. I thought driving in this condition
was safe, so I decided to go back home. It was a long day, so I
went to my parking spot at 2:12 pm and started my car to drive
back home. When I arrived at Zink Rd, streets were covered
with snow, so it was hard for me to slow down. I remember that
I was speeding more than 20 Km/h, so it was hard for me to
control my car to slow down or to bring the car to a complete
stop, so when I was turning into my community’s main
entrance, here the problem began.
I hit my brakes to slow down suddenly; I bumped a car, which
related to an old lady. She looked like a housekeeper, like my
grandmother. After that, I was talking to my self-saying “Oh!
Please... What I have done? “ I went to check on the old lady.
She was so angry, and she was yelling at me because I damaged
her car. She said, “Look what you did to my car! I will call the
cops… And you need to give me your policy number!” I told
her,” Sorry about that. As you see ,I damaged my car too, and I
don’t have full coverage!” When the cops arrived about 5
minutes after the accident ,the officer asked me for my license
and the registration.
I looked at him and I was so scared and nervous, he looks like a
married person and I thought that he was in Army or something.
I remember that I told him I do not have a State License I have
an International one. I give him my International license, “No
12. lady! Do you have an state license?” He said. “No sir, I still
working to get it” I said. It was freezing cold so he asked me
and the old lady to come and discuss my situation in his car.”
your young lady in trouble and you have to go to court, some
one must come and pick you up, I am warning you and you
cannot drive your car” He said.” yes sir, I will call my cousin” I
said. Then the officer gave me a paper that said I have a court
after a week, when the Officer left I started to call my cousin”
Hi Ahmed, Please!! Come to Zink Road right now, I had a car
accident” I said. “What! When did this happen? Are you hurt? “
He said. “No, I ‘m OK but please! Come and help me,” I said.
After an hour I went back home after my cousin came to help
me, “ Mom I’m home, with bad news! “ I said. She was upstairs
in the bathroom so she couldn’t hear me clearly, “what! I can’t
hear you, what’s going on?” she continued. When she went to
the kitchen where I was standing, “HI my awesome college
daughter! You look so tired, what happen?” She said. I was
shacking “ mom I had a car accident, on my way to home” She
was shocked, “Really! ……Are you OK? , Where is your car? ,
Who sent you here?” She said. “It’s my cousin mom, he was
with me in the whole time, I didn’t tell you because I was
nervous “. My mom told me that I have to work to get my
license or forget about driving.
Later on she called my father telling him about the accident, at
that time my father was in London for business. When he knew
about the accident he was so mad because I did not listen to him
either about driving in snow and without a State License. “Right
now you have to work to get your license, you need to respect
what your parents said to you,” He said. “Yeah father, I
understand, I will do my best,” I said. Today, I feel that I am a
responsible person who takes the important things seriously. I
been studying for the written test and the driver test for a long
time so that I get throw it, and I did it. Now, I have my license,
this was my goal .I been doing the same thing even in my
University life. Taking things seriously makes everything better
not just today, even in my future.
