  2. What is social learning and why is it important? Bingham and Conner (2010) write that “social learning is what it sounds like - learning with and from others.” Educators may think social learning is informal or gaining popularity only in business or corporations, but learners in formal settings are more motivated to learn and more interested in learning using social media and Web 2.0 tools. People are using social tools every day to collaborate, communicate, and learn in many ways, so it makes sense to continue this social learning in the classroom. Watch this YouTube video interview with Marcia Conner, co-author of The New Social Learning, discussing what social learning looks like today (Schlenker, 2015).

The role in effective workforce training includes just in time training, remote access for work-at-home employees, global interaction, expanded resources for gathering knowledge and an alternative communication forums to foster interdepartmental idea sharing. This YouTube video by DMLResearchHub (2015), highlights the benefits of connected learning in education.
  4. Social learning effects an organizations goals and objectives which allows an expansion on the knowledge of new ideas and innovative technology enhancements. Business issued and strengthening relationships through social learning which can increase quality workforce with less focus on diminishing values but more focus on progress and growth. There are several indicators of success when assessing the effectiveness of social learning. Acceptance of modern technology promotes the ability to adapt to progression in a social media environment. One of the most important assets for strengthening business is through the growth and revenue that is an increase in productivity. According to Sol & Wals (2015), A key assumption of both social and transformative learning is that pluralism and heterogeneity offer more promise in finding creative solutions to stubborn issues, than ‘singularism’ and homogeneity (see also Page 2007): people learn more from each other when they are different from one another than when they are like-minded but only when there is ‘‘chemistry’’ or social cohesion in the group”. One of the relationship builders would include building international relationships outside of the import and export business. Training overseas and domestic could improve learning tasks and meet goals more efficiently. The resource allocation affects the overall effectiveness of social learning within an organization which include, manufacturing, virtual training, human resourcing, operative manufacturing efforts.
