To create an effective e-learning program, an organization needs faculty who are fully qualified to teach online and interested in online instruction, leadership with clear expectations, and ways to engage students in meaningful and collaborative learning through challenges, curiosity and participation. Successful programs utilize technology as a tool for learning, communication and collaboration and use interactive elements like simulations, roleplaying and games to keep students engaged, while evaluations assess student understanding. Program design should not be "cookie-cutter" and consider the nature of online innovation and capturing student attention through various approaches.
