The document proposes randomized dispersive routing mechanisms to secure data collection in wireless sensor networks against compromised node and denial-of-service attacks. It develops four schemes - Purely Random Propagation (PRP), Directed Random Propagation (DRP), Non-Repetitive Random Propagation (NRRP), and Multicast Tree Assisted Random Propagation (MTRP) - to randomly propagate information shares in a dispersed manner. The schemes aim to propagate shares as far as possible from their source while limiting the number of hops for energy efficiency. Analytic evaluation and simulations show that the randomized schemes provide better security than deterministic approaches at a reasonable energy cost by changing the routes taken over time.
