Creating Lasting Change:

The Secret to Lasting
Motivation

Second in a
five-part series
Oh, yeah!
I’m going to be built
like that guy!
I write out my goals.
do my affirmations,
and all that,
but
Except every time I
try, I don’t know. . .
. . .I just run out of
steam. . .
. . .and I still end up
looking like this.
How do I find the
motivation
to make it happen?
Motivation
provides the
energy to spiral
from your
current realty
and comfort zone
into the
compelling future
you desire
Creating the motivation for
change requires both push and
pull strategies
Push strategies involve
• Challenge reality
• Asking, “What do I
want to move away
from?”
And
• “Is this important
enough to move
away from?”

Pull strategies involve:
• Awakening a vision
of what you want
Asking, “What do I
want?
And
• “Is this enough to
make me want to
move toward it?
Motivating for change involves creating
powerful meanings to change the present
and realize a compelling future
Think of a change you want to make

• Why do you want to change? What
are you gaining from keeping
things as they are? How do you
feel about that?
• What do you want to create when
you change? What do you want to
have or be? What does this mean
to you? How do you feel about
A well-constructed push/pull motivation
gives you the energy to change

Lack of motivation often feels like
procrastination, a lack of drive, and
“stuckness”

consider

• What is a problem now?
• What will be a problem if things continue
as they are?

• What don’t I like?
• What is motivating me to change away
from?
