1. Comenius project “Generational Link: playing and learning”
Our school, Agrupamento de Escolas de Cuba, was the host of our partners
from Siauliai, Lithuania, composed by 21 students and 5 teachers. This mobility
occurred from the 23rd of September till the 2nd October and was the following up
of the previous mobility made by our school in May 2013.
Having has a background the theme of the project, playing and learning, our
partners from Lithuania had contact with our school reality first-hand as well as
the district, region and country, because they also visited some of the most
emblematic regions of Portugal.
We will highlight the following activities:
A trip by amphibious boat on the river Tagus (HIPPO TRIP)
A thematic visit to Zoomarine and a visit to white, fine sand beach St.
Rafael in Albufeira.
Participation in traditional games
A cultural visit to Lisbon, including the aquarium, castle and statue /
monument “Cristo Rei”
There were also guided tours to the district of Cuba, Beja, Evora and
other relevant places in the south Alentejo.
There are a few very important aspects to mention, such as the extremely
warm welcome that our host parents and community gave the Lithuanian students
in their homes and also in taking part of the social meetings between everybody,
trying very hard to overcome the linguistic barrier and achieving it with flying
colours, as students from two extremes geographical positions of Europe could
copped and dealt very well with cultures so utterly different from their ones.
Extraordinarily they managed to find out some amazing points of contact,
even at the level of games practised in both countries.
Afterwards there was given a questionnaire, previously elaborated, about
healthy lifestyle habits, these were compiled and the results were presented in the
website.
Near the final term of 2013 there was held a meeting with all the
participants – students, host families, town hall and several other entities that gave
their collaboration to make this project possible and it was also a great way to let
2. all the community know what was done, showing all the documents and
multimedia items elaborated.
As a closing reminder we must mention the unanimous opinion of all the
involved - students, host families, town hall, teachers and school board – who
considered that the project was of extreme significance and advanced in a very
constructive way, considering even that these kind of events / projects have an
thrilling importance in the growth of our students as European citizens, of unique
right in a borderless Europe.
