Second Meeting Instructions
 Icebreaker: “Two truths and Lie” 
o Instructions:
1. You will take it in turns to share three “facts” about yourselves. Two of these
facts should be true, but one must be a lie.
2. Your partner must try to work out which of the three “facts” is actually a lie!
3. You may ask questions of each other to try to identify which is the lie
 Question 1 to discuss during the meeting: “What are your experiences of academic
advising support (both as a staff member and a student)?” 
o Prompts to facilitate this discussion include: 
“How do you find accessing servicesand resources as a student/ staff member?”  
“How do you work with your Academic Advisor on feedback, grades and in
practice?” 
 Question 2 to discuss during the meeting: “What are your perceived barriers to successful
Academic Advising (as a member of staff or as a student) based on your experiences?” 
 Question 3 to discuss during the meeting: “What factors facilitate success of Academic Advising
(as a member of staff or as a student) based on your experiences?” 
 Summary Reflection: “Is there anything else that you would like to discuss today?” “What’s on
your mind?” “What have you learned today?”

  • 1. Second Meeting Instructions  Icebreaker: “Two truths and Lie”  o Instructions: 1. You will take it in turns to share three “facts” about yourselves. Two of these facts should be true, but one must be a lie. 2. Your partner must try to work out which of the three “facts” is actually a lie! 3. You may ask questions of each other to try to identify which is the lie  Question 1 to discuss during the meeting: “What are your experiences of academic advising support (both as a staff member and a student)?”  o Prompts to facilitate this discussion include:  “How do you find accessing servicesand resources as a student/ staff member?”   “How do you work with your Academic Advisor on feedback, grades and in practice?”   Question 2 to discuss during the meeting: “What are your perceived barriers to successful Academic Advising (as a member of staff or as a student) based on your experiences?”   Question 3 to discuss during the meeting: “What factors facilitate success of Academic Advising (as a member of staff or as a student) based on your experiences?”   Summary Reflection: “Is there anything else that you would like to discuss today?” “What’s on your mind?” “What have you learned today?”
