• Word game for 2-4 players; 15x15 squares
• Premium squares:
8 Triple Word
(Red)
17 Double Word
(Yellow)

11. Scrabble …
• 100 Tiles with 2 blanks(supposed as wish)
• Value 1-10 but blank has no value
• Turn of players is decided by the alphabetical
order of a tile each player draws
• Every player needs to keep scores
• Timer is necessary to keep the time!
16. Scrabble …
• All the players draw 7 tiles each from the bag
• They arrange their tiles in the tray.
• First player has to make the first word and keep
the letters of word either vertically (top-down)
or horizontally (left-right), making sure that at
one of the letter is on the center (H8) or (MB)

• Score of MANGO: 8x2= 16, How??
• Now the second player has to make other
word, either vertically or horizontally but
using at least a letter from the word of first
player.
• Score = 9 Why?

• Now the next player has to make other word
in similar manner but using at least a letter
from the words made earlier.
• Score = 20 Why?

For more than 2 players in 1 board, final score=
Board score – tray score
For TWO players, final score= board score + twice
the opponent’s tray score
When
Time is over (increment reduces -10 per minute)
Or one player finishes tiles both in tray and bag
Or when a player has 6 consecutive zeros
Or both players pass simultaneously
Bonus Score (+50) if all 7 tiles are used in a turn!

29. Scrabble …
• If final scores are tied, the winner is decided
as per the board score
• If there is tie in final board score too, provide
7 tiles and allow making word on table!

• Referee/ChampionshipDirector makes final
decision on a table
• Player has to say the score before pressing the
timer to switch the turn
• Tiles are returned in case of wrong words and
player looses the turn.
• Exchange one or more tiles for an equal
number from the bag but losing turn!

• The name ‘scrabble’ is a trademark of Hosbro Inc.
in the US and Canada but outside it is a
trademark of Mattel
• In 1938, American architect Alfred Mosher Butts
created the game as a variation on earlier word
game he invented called Lexiko.
• In 1948, James Brunot slightly modified and also
changed the name to “Scrabble”, a real word
which means “to scratch frantically (crazily!)”
