Operation, Merchandising and Replenishment, Warehouse Control and

roles involved working alone and on my own initiative whilst others meant
managing a team in conjunction with the department managers.
Tesco Stores PLC (Mansfield) June 2002 – Sept 2007
Position: Produce Assistant (promoted to Team Leader Jan 2000)
Duties: As an assistant my role was to ensure timely replenishment of stock
ensuring full availability, control quality through rotation and quality checking,
effectively handling customer queries and managing customer expectations,
to action reductions as instructed and to ensure that the department projects
a positive impression of both the store and the company.
Once promoted to Team Leader my duties then also included managing the
department team to ensure all of the above is achieved as well as ensuring the
following is also actioned:, Compliance with all aspects of HACCP, Hygiene
Control, peak trade planning, colleague training and development plus the
reporting of any maintenance issues and managing resolutions.
Tesco Stores PLC (Penzance) May 1995 – June 2002
Position: Grocery Assistant
The role involved working within the grocery team to ensure that full stock
availability is maintained throughout the day, to ensure that procedures
relating to rotation and date management are adhered to, to deal with any
customer queries quickly and efficiently, ensuring that complete customer
satisfaction was achieved at all times.
Tesco Stores PLC (Bognor Regis) June 1989 – May 1995
Position: Various
I began my career with Tesco Stores PLC as a Trolley Collection Assistant, this
involved ensuring full availability of all types of customer trolley, that primary
customer collection areas were always full, that hand baskets were easy to
locate around the entrance to the store, during peak times to direct customers
toward available car park spaces and to assist customer to and from their cars
where required.
In July 1990 I was moved into the store to work with the Maintenance Manager
in ensuring that store maintenance issues were resolved quickly and effectively
minimising any customer disruption, issues relating to lighting, plumbing and
shop fittings would be handled directly, any other issues involving electrical or
technical equipment we would escalate to the relevant companies ensuring that
these were rectified within agreed timeframes.
In Jan 1992 I was again moved (at my request) to the Produce Department, I felt
that I was best suited to a more customer facing role as I was always naturally very
customer service focused, that coupled with my enthusiasm towards ensuring that
product quality standards were maintained at the highest levels made me believe
that Produce was the ideal Department for me to both practice and develop my
skills and passion for excellence.
Payless DIY July 1988 – June 1989
Position: General Assistant (P/T)
My first job after leaving school I was employed as a customer assistant where my
role was to deal with customer queries, replenish stock, take customer orders and
help the shop floor team to ensure smooth transitions between seasonal product
range changes.
This was I realised that I had a real passion and enthusiasm for working within a
team and also for being in a customer focused environment, I had entered this job
not really knowing what I wanted to do for a career, however by the time I left I was
in no doubts that my future lie within a fast moving and dynamic environment, which
ultimately was the deciding factor in my decision to leave and join Tesco.
.
Additional Information:
My career with Tesco has spanned over 25 years, whilst I believe this shows that I am
a loyal employee I am well aware of the fact that it may also lead potential employers to have concerns as to my
being institutionalised and possibly unable to adapt to new working practices and environments. I would like to
think that the diversity in the departments and also the locations that I have worked, would at the very least lead
you to be curious enough to invite me for an interview and enable me to showcase myself and my abilities.
I would very much appreciate the opportunity to expand on the information within this CV and to answer any
queries
that you may have regarding myself and my suitability to integrate within your company.
