Journal Metrics
• Allows comparison of journal titles within a
specific subject category
• Scopus journal metrics - CiteScore,

CiteScore
• CiteScore measures average citations received
per document published in the serial.
• CiteScore uses a 3-year window.
• A 3 year window is the best compromise for a
broad-scope database, incorporating a
representative proportion of citations in all
disciplines, while also reflecting relatively
recent data.
SCImago Journal Rank
• SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) measures
weighted citations received by the serial.
• Citation weighting depends on subject field
and prestige of the citing serial.

measures actual citations received relative to
citations expected for the serial’s subject field.
