This document outlines the topics to be covered in an 8th grade biology class over the 4th quarter, including: explaining the processes of ingestion, absorption, assimilation, and excretion; comparing mitosis and meiosis and their role in cell division; explaining the significance of meiosis in maintaining chromosome number; predicting phenotypic expressions from patterns of inheritance; explaining the concept of a species and using taxonomic classification; analyzing the roles of organisms in cycling materials and explaining how materials cycle in an ecosystem; and suggesting ways to minimize human impact on the environment.
