STUDENT SUPPORT TEAM The Student Support Team is a committee that is formatted for each school consisting of four or more persons established to identify and plan alternative instructional strategies for students experiencing academic and/or behavioral problems. This is a regular educational activity and is carried out by the classroom teacher as directed by the Student Support Team. Each school designs its operational structure and format within the county guidelines for SST functions. The team may be comprised of principals, assistant principals, classroom teachers, special education teachers, counselors, school psychologists, central office personnel, and/or the child's parents. The concept of the student support team is an interdisciplinary one. Student Support Team function at their most productive level when all members consistently participate in the total process. The major responsibility of the SST is the early appropriate planning and use of strategies for students in the classroom setting. Referral to other system services can also be the result of the SST process.

Improvement Plan Standards-Based Teaching & Learning-Each teacher will… Implement Standards (GPS), develop effective lesson plans, design quality work for students that will help to close the gaps identified by periodic test data, provide frequent progress reports for parents, implement Cornell Note taking strategies, use Direct Instruction and Read 180, use the My Access Writing Program, attend weekly grade level meetings, attend bi-weekly content meetings, teach focus vocabulary terms for each subject (using language of Standards, etc.), and complete content focus walks to provide peer collaboration/ feedback for improvement. Additionally, non-core teacher will partner with core teachers each day during the school wide Reading Block to provide differentiated instruction for students (based on their individual instructional needs).

The CRCT and the achievement plan are similar in that they are both forms of standardized testing. Periodic data serves in many ways like the classroom teachers assessments.
