STUDENT SUPPORT TEAM The Student Support Team is a committee that is formatted for each school consisting of four or more persons established to identify and plan alternative instructional strategies for students experiencing academic and/or behavioral problems.  This is a regular educational activity and is carried out by the classroom teacher as directed by the Student Support Team. Each school designs its operational structure and format within the county guidelines for SST functions.  The team may be comprised of principals, assistant principals, classroom teachers, special education teachers, counselors, school psychologists, central office personnel, and/or the child's parents. The concept of the student support team is an interdisciplinary one.  Student Support Team function at their most productive level when all members consistently participate in the total process.  The major responsibility of the SST is the early appropriate planning and use of strategies for students in the classroom setting.  Referral to other system services can also be the result of the SST process.

The CRCT and the achievement plan are similar in that they are both forms of standardized testing. Periodic data serves in many ways like the classroom teachers assessments. The Perception data emulates the varies outside sources that King Middle School uses to improve a student’s achievement

Editor's Notes

  • #3 The team is comprised of those individuals who will have direct contact with the students on a daily basis. The committee is responsible
  • #4 King Middle School teachers use the Student Support Team as a intervention strategy to assist students with academic progress.
  • #5 Rigorous instruction, Standards-Based Teaching & Learning, Differentiated Instruction, Inquiry based Instruction
  • #6 These are some of the intervention for students at-risk.
  • #9 The school that I have based my improvement plan on regularly collects and analyze data on the students using the four data collection means listed above. In contrast the NCREL approach is on larger scale usually comparing a states data to the nation.
