Misconceptions Of Professional Wrestling
Professional wrestling s most mysterious hold is on its audience, Luke Neely. Professional wrestling
has been captivating audiences since the 1860 s but what is professional wrestling and its fans. Pro
wrestling is an athletic form of entertainment that is based on the portrayal of highly exaggerated
combat. It began in carnivals, shortly after the civil war, and gained widespread popularity in the 1980
s thanks to the reappearance of World Wrestling Federation, WWF, on network television. Although
viewed as a barbaric, uneducated group of individuals, professional wrestling fans are a group with
many forms of communications through their own slang terms, live events, and blogs.
To begin, there are many misconceptions about wrestling fans, ... Show more content on

The creation of these terms was established to not only describe the wrestlers, but also the fans and the
overall show. Most of these terms are used more widely when discussing national promotions, like
WWE and Total National Action (TNA), then independent promotions or the indies, like the World
Wrestling Alliance (WWA) an indy company based out of Central City, Kentucky. There are basically
two types of wrestlers: superstars, who are the male competitors, and divas, who are the female
competitors. The superstars and divas can be either heel, a bad guy, or face, a good guy. When the
wrestler switches from face to heel it is called a heel turn likewise when they switch from heel to face
it is a face turn. The superstar and diva also portray a certain character or gimmick when they wrestler,
that may continue for a short or long time considering how the fans react to it. When referring to the
wrestler s status level, there are three overall types: the jobber, who is usually a newer, unknown
wrestler whose main job is to lose to the better known wrestlers. The jobber may also be considered
too green or inexperienced and prone to make more mistakes. Then there are the midcarders who
wrestle more in the middle of the event and are seen as being a top wrestler but not a big money
drawer. The highest status a wrestler can achieve is to be considered a main eventer. A main eventer is
seen as the best of the company and one of the top money drawers on the roster and usually get to
compete at the end of the show also known as the main event. The individuals who accompany the
wrestler to the ring but do not actually complete are referred to as the wrestlers manager or valet. A
manager is usually a male who accompanies the wrestler while a valet is usually a female. The main
goal of a manager or valet is to put over or hype up

Galileo Galilei Research Paper
Galileo Galilei was a teacher, astronomer, philosopher and physicist who is now referred to as the
Father of the Scientific Revolution. The scientific revolution refers to a period of time of great
advancement in the sciences that challenged the traditional beliefs about mankind s place and
relationship with the universe held by religious orders (Bellis). Born in Pisa Italy on February 15,
1564 Galileo was the son of Vincenzo Galilei, musician and mathematician. He was the first of six
children and began his education at the age of eight at the Camaldolese Monastery at Vallombrosa.
Bringing a close connection to the Christian religion he became a lutenist. However, his father

Before the age of twenty he had made great observations in mechanics. He observed, a chandelier
swinging and when time with his heartbeat he noticed that the swings in the chandelier were in larger
or smaller arcs but whether it was swinging back or forth it took the same amount of time. This
observation prompted Galileo to being his experiments, validating his theories and providing factual
evidence to back his notions. During 1595 Galileo had taken a compass design invented by Niccolo
Tartaglia and Guidobaldo del Monte and by 1598 he had improved it making it more accurate he had
created a geometric and military compass by today s standards. Not only this but with the use of
Galileo s flotation principles he invented a thermoscope which was later used as a basis for the
modern day thermometer. Another of his experiments was an attempt to measure the speed of light. In
which he and an assistant stood on two hilltops, holding a lantern with a shudder. When one opened
the shutter the other would open his shutter. This took place with a distance of less than a mile and
Galileo did not detect a delay in the time greater that when they were only meters apart. Although
there was no conclusion to this experiment, Galileo thought that the distance between the hilltops and
that perhaps the distance was too small for a worthy measurement. Galileo

Irish Writer By Liam O Flaherty
Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness
thrust upon them. This quote by William Shakespeare certainly holds true to author Liam O Flaherty,
who had defiantly achieved greatness. Irish author Liam O Flaherty was born August 28, 1897, on a
small island off the coast of Ireland. O Flaherty was famous for the short stories he wrote during the
Irish Renaissance, a time around the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
However, writing was not all that O Flaherty had worked as: a lumberjack, deckhand, dishwasher,
bank clerk, and as a miner were various vocations he had been employed in. He had also traveled
across several countries, some being the United States, Canada, and several others throughout South
America. O Flaherty also served in World War I after abandoning his quest for priesthood (The Editors
of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2015). Sadly, on September 1, 1984, Liam O Flaherty died at the age of
87, but he left behind an incredible collection of written works for people around the world to enjoy.
One popular short story that Liam O Flaherty wrote was The Sniper . This story takes place in the city
of Dublin, the present day capital of Ireland, amidst the Irish Civil War. A young man close to his
college years was atop a roof with his rifle, laying in silence. The young man had lit a cigarette, but as
he did, a bullet streaked by his head. He then turned and saw

Good Things that Came out fo the Great Depression
From 1929 to the early 1940s, America was hit hard by the Great Depression. The economy
plummeted to rock bottom. It affected millions of lives throughout the country, even the rich. It caused
families to use shabby clothes again and again, instead of buying new apparel and wasting money.
People cut back on spending and where they spent it. Then, WWII affected the economy by putting it
back on track. Along with it, was the Manhattan Project, which greatly affected the U.S. The
Manhattan Project (America s nuclear bomb,) was used in Hiroshima, Japan, during WWII. The US
was greatly feared by Japan and other countries then. The Manhattan Project also created the
Hydrogen bomb, which was never used but alarmed the American and Soviet Union public. These
were not the only events that greatly affected America. Throughout the years 1945 to 1980, many
events affected US society, such as John F. Kennedy s Inauguration Address in 1961, Elvis Presley,
and color television. John F. Kennedy was born on the 29th of May, in the year 1917. He was also
known as Jack . As a young child, he often got sick. He did not pressure himself to do school related
work, unless it appealed to him. Even in college, he only did work unless it appealed to him. Finally,
in his last year in college, he got himself together and started taking school seriously. After graduating
from college, he went into the army. His brother, Joseph Kennedy went into the navy. While he was in
the army, unfortunately,

Pyramid Hierarchy In Frankenstein
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs created by Abraham Maslow is a structural pyramid progression of
physical and psychological needs. From the bottom, the hierarchy includes; physiological, safety,
belonging, self esteem and self actualization. In order to get onto the next level of the pyramid, one
must fulfill all of the factors of the step below. In the novel Frankenstein the author, Mary Shelly
displays many of the character s progression. One of them is a creature that the protagonist, Victor
Frankenstein creates because of his love of science and anatomy. The creature is bought into the world
as a grown specimen with no knowledge that needs all the help and love he can get. The creature does

I heard the differences of sexes, and the birth and growth of children, how the father doted on the

were wrapped up in the precious charge, how the mind of youth expanded and gained knowledge, of
brother, sister, and all the various relationships which bind one human being to another in mutual

my friends and relations? No father has watched my infant days, no mother had blessed me with
smiles and caresses, or if they had, all my past life was now a blot, a blind vacancy in which I

level on his own. As the creature watches Old Man De Lacy s family, he grows an attachment and

Separation Of Alantolactone Lab Report
3.2 Selection of soluble silver salt for the mobile phase
Soluble silver salt in the mobile phase provided silver ion for the interactions with unsaturated C C
bonds. Silver nitrate (AgNO3) that act as sources of silver ions has been frequently used in silver ion
chromatography. However, bitrate radical (NO3-) in the mobile phase has the stronger background
absorption among 190 ~ 240 nm as shown in Fig.2a [40]. Since the UV detection wavelength of
alantolactone and isoalantolactone was also in the range of 190 to 240 nm as shown in Fig.2b [41],
AgNO3 in mobile phase can cause extremely strong background absorption interference, as shown in
Fig.2c and Fig.2d. For this reason, we selected silver perchlorate (AgClO4) as sources of silver ions,

Liberal Feminism vs. Radical Feminism Essay
Liberal Feminism and Radical Feminism
The goal of feminism as both a social movement and political movement is to make women and men
equal not only culturally, but socially and legally. Even though there are various types of feminism
that focus on different goals and issues, the ultimate end to feminism is abolishing gender inequality
that has negative effects on women in our society. The issues and goals that a feminist may have are
dependent on the social organization or the type of economic structure that is present. However, an
ultimate end (a goal, achievement and/or accomplishment) would have to be social equality between
men and women. This would mean the elimination of bias and discrimination towards women and the
elimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also argue that gender inequality in not the outcome of choices, personal attributes or
relationships with others, but structural sources such as workplaces, schools, and the government as
they are unable to provide women with the same resources as men. This includes healthcare,
education, equal wages and an overall balance between men and women. On the other hand, radical
feminism is a form of resistance feminism, which means their issues primarily lie within patriarchy or
men s dominance towards women. They argue that patriarchy is found wherever men and women are
in contact with each other. They believe that patriarchy is almost impossible to abolish because to be
superior is an attribute that most men have acquired of is already built into them. And whether it s
consciously or subconsciously, these traits are applied into their privileges that Western society has
given them (because they are men) and displayed within all the different aspects and occupations in
their lives. The main view of liberal feminism is that all people are created equal by God and deserve
equal rights. These types of feminists believe that oppression only exists because of the way men and
women are socialized by society, which supports patriarchy and keeps men in powerful positions.
Liberal feminists believe that women have the same mental capacity as males and should

Similarities Between Frankenstein And Edward Scissorhands
Frankenstein vs Edward Scissorhands
In Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, and Tim Burton s film, Edward Scissorhands, both the
Creature and Edward have many challenges, and some are very similar. There are a couple distinct
differences between the two. While in Frankenstein and Edward Scissorhands, the main characters are
both wanting to be accepted, and are created out of curiosity, only Edward is loved and accepted, and
he isn t violent like the Creature.
The Creature and Edward are created by humans out of curiosity. In Edward Scissorhands, he is
constructed out of random things, but his creator didn t finish him before he passed away from a heart
attack. Edward says, I am not complete (Burton). The monsters are both odd looking, which causes a
burden when they are seeking acceptance. In Frankenstein, the Creature, later called Adam, is
constructed mainly by old body parts and other objects. Victor Frankenstein, Adam s creator, states

Can one s experiences as a toddler affect their personalities later on in life? According to the Freudian
psychosexual stages of development this reigns true. The Anal stage of development plays a huge role
in defining why multiple characters like; John the Friar, Wife of Thomas act, Thomas, and the
Landlord s Wife act the way that they do within the tale. The characters within the tale display either
an anal expulsive personality or, an anal retentive personality, that personality is explained by their
behavior and thought process. However, some of the characters display a mixture of both personalities

whereas a character like Thomas gets a great pleasure and sense of control from holding things in.
Meanwhile, John the Friar is both anal expulsive and anal retentive meaning that he too holds nothing

their personality reflects their individual. Each of the character s behaviors within this tale can be
better comprehended by understanding where they fall in the psychosexual anal stage of development.
This however, leaves the reader wondering what may have happened to these characters in their
childhood that caused them to be this way, and what did not happen to the Landlord s Wife that allows

Essay On Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal, a marvelous white marbled mahal, symbolizes the beauty of love, and misery, is one of the
seven wonders of the world. Taj Mahal was built during the Mughal Period when Mughals (Muslims)
from Persia, Afghanistan, and many parts of middle east conquered India. It was built by fifth Mughal
emperor Shah Jahan who ruled India during the early 17th century. He constructed the divine Taj in
the memory of his begum (wife) Mumtaz Mahal. Mumtaz Mahal was a Persian Muslim Princess, who
married Shah Jahan in 1612 (tajmahal.gov.in Staff). Soon after begum s death, Taj Mahal s
construction was started in 1631. Shah Jahan had two aims, firstly to construct the largest mausoleum

Jahan ordered to build the Taj Mahal. As a result, Taj Mahal symbolizes the eternal love of emperor
and his queen. Taj Mahal was completed in 1648 but it was not open to public until 1653. Taj Mahal is
nothing but a gigantic marble tomb. This was a gift from Shah Jahan to his wife. Soon after the
completion of the monument, Mumtaz s dead body was placed in the center of the tomb. But after few

brother and imprisoned his father, Shah Jahan for eight years. Shah Jahan was imprisoned in Agra

Downtown Revitalization
Revitalization efforts in downtown areas have gained momentum over the past few decades, this paper
is focused on revitalization strategies, recognizing the process of decline, while identifying key
strategies used in downtown revitalization efforts over the past fifty years (Faulk 2006). Downtowns,
unlike suburban shopping malls or office complexes, evolved slowly over time, responding to
changing technologies, social and economic patterns. A city s identity relies heavily on the image of
its downtown, so inevitably cities of all sizes commit themselves to achieving successful downtown
redevelopment (Robertson 1995). As I have been reading literature on downtown revitalization a

Before the 1870 s downtowns where not developed as a centralized retail district, but catered
exclusively to the immediate population (Ward 1971). Early Downtown Development Many
downtowns first emerged as a distinctive place due to elite residents with homes in the area, which
served as meeting places for important business transactions. By the late 19th century downtowns had
typically been laid out with designated business blocks (Ford 2003). The growth of the business block
as an economic center and booming downtown forced out any competition that were not appropriate
with high rents, social pressure and architectural change (Ford 2003, pp 45). This was the origin of the
spatial structure and land use patterns that are associated with contemporary downtowns. The origin of
the town structure is most commonly affiliated with European cities as models of spatial layout.
Specialty business and retail districts that characterized American downtowns and what we now image
a good downtown to be are directly linked to it European counterpart. The key characteristic that defer
from the European model was the tendency for American cities to be street oriented rather then place
oriented. This contributed to the more linear structure of the city, business pursued locations on the
main street rather then near major plazas or religious buildings (Robertson 1997). A Change of Pace:

Symbolism In Everything That Rises Must Converge
In Flannery O Connor s short story, Everything That Rises Must Converge , O Connor uses the
symbolism of the violet hat and the shiny new penny along with all of the things Julian s mother has
done for him throughout his life, to place the broader societal conflict of race relations within the
context of the unstable relationship Julian has with his mother, showing how poor southern whites
used blacks to elevate themselves. Julian s clashes with his mother over morals, race, and appearances
mimic the greater conflict of racial relations in society. Everything Julian s mother sacrifices for her
son isn t out of love for him; she puts him before herself only to make him fit the Godhigh criteria,
and in turn uses him to separate and elevate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the beginning of the story we see that it s clear Julian s mother is obsessed with her appearance.
The fact that her family once had political influence and wealth (p.407), not to mention power over the
lives of 200 slaves (p.408), and now no longer has it, deeply troubles her, prompting her to
overcompensate for this loss by always dressing and looking her best in public. When the violet hat is
first introduced we learn that, [t]he hat was new and had cost her seven dollars and a half, (p.405) She
later states that she could, pay the gas bill with seven fifty, (p.407). It is clear that with those prices
and her issues with integration that this story took place in the 1960s. From this we know that Julian s
mom has expensive taste in clothing. Which reveals that she puts her appearance before her bills,
emphasizing the importance of her sense of identity is. Her identity is what sets her apart from the rest
of society, and is what her ancestors used to elevate themselves above African Americans. It is
apparent throughout the story that Julian s mother has a preconceived notion of how things in society
should be, depicting her to be a bigot. This is a result of her upbringing, it s all she s ever known. The
reason why segregation was so important to poor Southerners was because they were

Heroism In Jackie Robinson
He was bombarded with death threats for who he was. He was punched so hard he was left with a
bloody seven inch gash on the side of his face. Even his teammates did not want to be associated with
him anymore. Through this unbearable torture, he still did not shed a single tear. This story belongs to
Jackie Robinson, a home run hero.Jackie Robinson, number forty two, is looked back on as a hero that
was an immense part of baseball;Robinson was known for the incredible heroism he showed in
baseball and in his community through his fifty three years of life. Using information from, What is
Heroism, and, How Jackie Robinson Changed Baseball, The reader learns that Jackie Robinson s
heroism is shown from his fight against the social norms of an era filled with discrimination, his
courage when people tried to hurt him spiritually and physically, and his personal and his professional
sacrifices to be part of baseball.
First of all, Jackie Robinson showed and proved his heroism for how he went against the social norms
to be the first African American to play in a previously all white sport;the courage required to break
this barrier is an example of social heroism. In What is Heroism? it states, Yet social heroism is costly
in its own way, often involving loss of credibility or financial stability, lower social status, arrest,
torture, risks to family, and, in some cases, death. This statement rings true to Jackie Robinson
because, when Jackie went against the strict views of racist baseball players and fans, he risked
everything that the evidence stated! In the text, How Jackie Robinson Changed Baseball, the hero
broke the color barrier by joining Major League Baseball, a professional sport. This hero defied
discrimination at a time when people of color were not allowed to play baseball. He did not accept the
racist idea of what a professional baseball player should look like cause he just wanted to be a part of
baseball.
Another way Jackie Robinson validates and shows his heroism is by having a significant amount of
courage when many people were against him because of segregation. In the text, What is Heroism the
author defines courage as, ...individual s commitment to a noble purpose and the

Next, administration of oxygen is essential for all patients presenting signs of hypoxia (Higginson,
Jones, Davies, 2010). There are two types of devices available; low flow devices such as the nasal
cannula or a simple facial mask, and a non rebreathing mask used as a high flow device. The low flow
devices are used for the provision of oxygen in low concentration (two to four litres) whereas, a non
breathable mask can be used to provide 15 litres of oxygen to ensure 100% oxygen available to a
patient. In Margaret s case, if the SPO2 level does not improve the concentration of oxygen can be

Furthermore, a nurse has a vital role in administering and educating about medication to all patients.
Nurses must follow the drug rules (Nurses Neighbourhood, 2017) to ensure their safety (Nursing
Midwifery Council (NMC, 2015). To ease Margaret s breathing, the studies show Inhalers containing
salbutamol and steroids drugs are beneficial (NICE, 2017c). Salbutamol act as bronchodilators,
whereas, steroids help to reduce the inflammation in the lungs. These medications work to open the
airways allowing an individual to breathe effectively. However, nurses make sure to evaluate the
effects of medication and observe for any side effects. Some people may get palpitation or shaking
hands (NICE, 2017d). Finally, it is the nurse s responsibility to record all care or intervention in the
care plans and report it to other health care professionals, so that continuity of care maintained
throughout the care (Barrett, Wilson Woollands, 2012)

The Celebration Of Columbus Day
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue , these words are taught all around the states and are meant to
help teach and remember the year that the now notorious Christopher Columbus went on his renowned
exploration. Columbus was an Italian that was sent by the Queen and King of Spain to find riches in
other lands, and during this voyage he stumbled onto the Americas. During his time in the Americas
he enslaved the Native Americans, forced Christianity onto them and brought over diseases that would
result in the eventual deaths of Native American. For a long period of time though, Columbus was
known as the man who discovered America , nothing more. Now he is thought of as a murderer and a
thief for stealing the land and lives of many Native Americans. ... Show more content on

To the colonists, he was a man who dared to discover something new and bring civilization to a new

and South Carolina made its capital the city of Columbia. Columbus was the center of many poets
work, including Philip Freneau s The Pictures of Columbus and even featuring in Phillis Wheatley s

Industrial relations ideologies
Introduction A frame of reference is not a philosophical concept. It refers to one s worldview and the
evaluation or judgement of one s observations. One s frame of reference coincides with one s
behaviour and the consequences thereof. Therefore, a frame of reference is fixed but one needs to be
sensitive and accept individual differences in frames of reference. This paper aims to address the
frame of reference of Pick n Pay s chairman and joint managing director, Mr Raymond Ackerman.
The arguments presented in this paper are my own with a theoretical basis from the work of Bluen
(1987). My interpretation of Mr Ackerman s frame of reference will be presented in relation to the
organisation, conflict, collective bargaining and trade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reiterates the notion of balance of power. Collective bargaining The ability for positions to reach
a consensus is reached through collective bargaining. Bluen (1987) infers that the pluralist frame of
reference does not seek to remove conflict but to manage it. Mr Ackerman acknowledged the
existence of conflict and tried to manage it by sending his negotiating team to resolve the conflict and
end the strike. Mr Ackerman has a pluralist view because he believes the issue should have been
resolved during negotiations. He even went as far as awarding greater bargaining flexibility to the
negotiating team. The mere fact that Mr Ackerman was so determined to resolve the conflict though
means of collective bargaining should eliminate the likelihood of a unitary frame of reference.
Collective bargaining, an equitable balance of power, and essentially the aim to compromise confirm
that Mr Ackerman holds a pluralist view on industrial relations. Mr Ackerman fought to reach a
consensus for personal and economic reasons. The breakthrough to reach a consensus was achieved
after he delivered his speech. He appealed to the opposing union members by focusing on personal
matters. This led to the agreement of a negotiation. Mr Ackerman considered going up on his
agreement and the union considered going down on theirs. No suppression or unilateral decision
making occurred. In

Essay On Manchu
The Current Situation and Protection of Manchu
The Manchu is the language of the Man people (also called Manchu people) originated in northeast
China. Manchu was one of the official languages together with Chinese in the Qing Dynasty (1644AD
1912AD). Due to its own demerit in expressing and other social political reasons, nowadays there is
only less than 100 people that still take Manchu as their native language. Measures have been taken by
the government and scholars to save the language from extinction.
Manchu
Manchu belongs to the Altaic family Tungusic Languages. According to Guo (2004), Manchu is the

Secondly, being the official language of the Qing Dynasty, learning Manchu is a must for studying the
history of the Qing Dynasty. From the early 1600s, the Man people have left us numerous precious
historic documents. As Dai (2013) mentioned, most of the official documents especially in early Qing

Essay on Biodiversity
Biodiversity
INTRODUCTION Franck and Brownstone define biological diversity as the variety and variability of
living organisms and the biological communities in which they live (36). Decades of progress in both
the scientific and political arenas have advanced environmental legislation to protect biodiversity at
not only the ecosystem level, but for specific species and genetic material as well. Research has shown
the importance of every organism and their role in the global ecosystem, and legislation has gradually
matured to protect not only species which may become endangered, but the habitats they need to
survive as well. Growing consciousness surrounding environmental issues has enabled these

Simultaneously, thousands of other species across the globe face the same threat: extinction.
Biodiversity is an essential part of our world, our global ecosystem. As Planet Earth?s resources
diminish and its creatures vanish, those who recognize the need to preserve what is disappearing look
to international politics to accomplish what individuals cannot. The most important instrument for
implementation of international policy has been the Convention On International Trade in Endangered
Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which went into effect in 1975.
The plight of the rhinoceros is not unlike the all too familiar danger that the elephant faces. Illegal
trade is greatly responsible for the endangerment of the species. Valued for their ivory horns, over
90% of the five rhino species have disappeared, while the rest continue to dwindle. The worth of one
rhinoceros horn is $44,000, and the demand remains high in the countries of China, Taiwan, South
Korea and in the Middle East. In East Asia, the horns are regarded as powerful medicinal tools, known
to cure everything from nosebleeds to food poisoning. In a powdered from, the horn is thought to be a
powerful aphrodisiac. Similarly, the animals? genitalia are also considered extremely valuable.

There is a depression notion that the human race is willing to do anything to make money. Across the
world, people are creating illegal markets at the expense of other in order to achieve profits. Some
have small environmental impact while others affect the world significantly. Some markets that are
well documented in media, and are more well known throughout society are drugs, human trafficking,
and slavery. These are serious markets that need to be abolished, but have a small impact on the
environment. Poachers are people who illegally kill endangered species in order to sell them to the
ultra wealthy. This market is complicated with many moving parts. This elaborate market is
complicated which creates many gaps in the system. Intergovernmental and nongovernmental
organizations are combating these crime rings. These organizations are just as dangerous as any

animals range from exotic species like monkeys and rhinos to the common great white shark.
Regardless of the number of animals, poaching is having a dramatic affect on the ecosystem. This
situation has become serious, and there needs to be more actions to stop it. There are many steps that
can be taken to halt or cripple these organizations. The act of poaching happens all over the world.

The most common them are 360 degree appraisal, the traditional (supervisor to subordinate)
performance appraisal and the competency based appraisal system. Traditional performance appraisal:
Traditional approach to performance appraisal or manager to subordinate performance measurement
systems are becoming obsolete and out of place from the organizational culture, it is much of a parent
child or authoritarian approach in which the power of decision is solely held by the higher authority
(Meyer H, 1991). Traditional approach mainly focuses on measuring the individual s performance,
and the efforts are centred for improving the individual differences rather then the collective or
organizational problems as a whole, it highlights the employee faults and errors rather then that of the
system and this also discourages employee to seek help from their co workers and to accept the
challenges which can reveal the areas of their weak performance (Schaubroeck Lam, 1999). In this
particular approach individual performances are linked with subsequent rewards so it is important for
the supervisors to quantitatively measure the individual performances, and due to this reason the less
quantitative performance outcomes like quality improvements are often neglected (Schaubroeck Lam,
1999). Due to the linkage of the rewards with the performance

This paper explains the importance of having a new approach towards competitive strategies due to
the changes in the elements that determine the industry competition in agribusiness sector.
Most of the research on the usage of Information Systems in Agribusiness doesn t focus on the
coordination issues. Take Porter s Value Chain concept as an example for this. It doesn t focus on the
role that technology plays in improving coordination among market players. Rather, it focuses on how
information technologies can be made use of to lower the costs, differentiating the products and/or
increasing the barriers for entering. Konsynski and McFarlan are researching on competitiveness to
link coordination and Information Technology issues. The explored different information partnerships
among market players, by focusing on the non food sector, which allows efficient and productive
coordination. In this paper, Streeter and Hudson applied this Konsynski McFarlan framework to the
agribusiness and food sector to identify various partnerships.
As noted by Ed McMillan, CEO of Purina Mills, for the first time in the history of American
agriculture, the end consumer is driving the entire food chain. Not the packers or producers . In other
words, today s Agribusiness sector is considered as a Consumer Oriented sector. Not a Commodity

Persuasive Essay On The Use Of Technology
How do most people view the functions of the world? Is there a consensus on how certain things are
handled, or utilized? Today, there are new temptations, and functions that were nonexistent three
decades ago. Such as the advancements in technology, and communication, an unfair economy that
bounces up and down, and lastly, a government that plays a major role in the daily lives of Americans.
With this, I will create a utopia, that cancels out the negatives of these changes.
In the past decade, technology has drastically changed our daily lives. We are now able to
communicate with one another, regardless of the physical boundaries that surround us. However, these
advancements in technology, have caused new issues that did not previously exists. In my utopia, I
would not ban the usage of technology, but I would regulate how is it used. Today, there is Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat etc. These apps dominate the minds of daily Americans. With these apps,
people can communicate with one another, without directly pointing out a specific person. This could
be used as a positive tool but, in most cases it is used negatively. Such as, to bully or tear down others.
For example, on Instagram the pictures that get the most likes, are the ones who compare people to
one another. The caption is usually, Me VS you . Social media has created a perfect platform of falsity.
To correct this false hood, and forms of bullying, my utopia would create new apps, that strictly
regulate what is being posted. Technology would be used in its greatest, positive potential. Efficient
communication with others, would be its one and only offer. Citizens would still be able to post, and
access apps created for my utopia. Their time spent on the internet though, would be limited per day.
This would be to ensure face to face social skills, that would be required in my utopia.
Today s economy has re established the modern day classes. The United States is now composed of

Gandhi And The Life Of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Bapu (the father of the nation) and Mahatma (the great
soul) was born at Porbandar on 2nd October, 1869. Karamchand was his father and Putlibai was his
mother. His father was a hereditary diwan of a petty princely state in erstwhile Kathiwara. His mother
was a pious, God fearing, devout and simple lady given to traditional religious practices such as
prayers, reciting of God s names, counting rosary beads etc. They belonged to the caste of Vaishya. In
London, he had a very unhappy and restless life as he felt like a square peg in a round hole in the so
sophisticated English society and milieu. He remained almost an outcast although he tried to ape the
English youth. All his attempts to become a fashionable English gentleman again proved a
misadventure as his attempts to smoke and eating meat had proved earlier in India. Therefore, he gave
up these attempts of becoming a gentleman and decided to follow his own nature. There he read
Barnard Shaw s Plea for Vegetarianism and declared, From the day of reading this book, I may claim
to have become a vegetarian by choice the spread of which became my mission. He also set up a
vegetarian club there and one day invited Sir Adwin Arnold to become the club s Vice president. In
1891, he passed his Bar at Law examination and in the summer of the same year returned to India, to
his great relief, and he was called to the Bar at Bombay but again as a practitioner of law, he proved a

Essay on Disobedience in William Shakespeare s King Lear
Disobedience in William Shakespeare s King Lear How sharper than a serpent s tooth it is to have a
thankless child . Filial disobedience is a key theme in the play King Lear and in both the times it was
set and written, children were not expected to disobey their fathers. Jacobean England was an
extremely hierarchical society meaning that respect should not only be shown to the powerful and rich
but also to parents and the elderly. Seventeenth century England would have been more devout in
terms of religion than today and undoubtedly a Jacobean audience would have been familiar with the
fifth commandment, Honour thy father and mother . Lear, like any king, Pagan or otherwise, would

This is the source of Lear s outrage and he cannot believe that his most beloved daughter would not
only go against his wishes, but also against the basic expectations he has of his children. This helps
Shakespeare to show what an unstable character Lear is because he does not realise that Cordelia has
actually done what he has asked and told him how much she loves him. Lear s emotions at this point
swing between the extremes of love and anger because of this: Here I disclaim all my paternal care,
Propinquity and property of blood And as a stranger to my heart and me. I.i.109 111 In his rage, Lear
is willing to give up his love for his daughter even though he loves her immensely. It illustrates the
fury and rash judgements that have become ingrained in his nature whilst king. He wants to prove to
the court and possibly himself that, even though he is abdicating, he still wants to be seen as
omnipotent. His self importance and need for praise leads him to thinking that Cordelia has shamed
him and therefore banishes her. In spite of Goneril and Regan s obvious lies, Lear foolishly divides the
kingdom between. Where Lear falls for their shallow lies, the audience sees through them and their
sympathy lies with Cordelia. The audience also learn that the family dynamics depend on whether

Legalizing Prostitution
As shown by the safe conditions the Netherlands has created, prostitution can be a safe and well
controlled profession. If it remains illegal it forces women to work underground in unsafe conditions
and without proper health and safety precautions. The Netherlands is now one of the best know
examples of open, legalized prostitution because of its innovative advancements ( Legalizing
Prostitution ). Under the government s new laws, safer environments are in place for prostitutes to
work, and there has been a large creation of policies to promote safe sex. For example, brothels
became legal as early as 2000 though the move is widely controversial ( Prostitution in the
Netherlands ). Brothel owners feel as though it is unfair because it forces ... Show more content on

Before prostitution was legalized in Nevada, it was greatly profitable in many towns in the West. All
other western states have shut down establishments selling sex, except for Nevada. In as early as 1937,
a law was developed during weekly health checks for all prostitutes. The mandatory testing began in
1986 requiring weekly STD testing and monthly testing for HIV and syphilis. Condoms have been
mandatory since 1988 for oral sex and intercourse, and laws have even gone as far as making brothel
owners liable for customers who become infected with HIV after visitation ( Legalizing Prostitution ).
Despite the legal status of brothels, there are copious rules owners must follow to uphold their
establishments. Brothels can only exist in counties of populations less than 400,000. As a result of this
law, brothels are illegal in Las Vegas (Giang). In 1979, a state law banned brothels from advertising in
counties where it was an illegal act. Brothels have even gone as far as advertising large parking spaces
for truck drivers who wish to stop during their commutes. Brothels have many restrictions in Nevada,
but prostitutes must follow rules as well. In the majority of Nevada s counties, prostitutes must be of
twenty one years or older, with the exception of Storey and Lyon counties where the age is eighteen.
Prostitutes are encouraged to be workers of brothels, and soliciting outside of brothels is considered a
misdemeanor. Alongside legal prostitution, illegal prostitution numbers are flourishing ( Legalizing
Prostitution ). Furthermore, sex workers are considered independent contractors and do not receive
unemployment, retirement, or health care benefits. In order for the women to receive any benefits
from the state, they must register with the county sheriffs to receive documentation of their work.

  • 2. Misconceptions Of Professional Wrestling Professional wrestling s most mysterious hold is on its audience, Luke Neely. Professional wrestling has been captivating audiences since the 1860 s but what is professional wrestling and its fans. Pro wrestling is an athletic form of entertainment that is based on the portrayal of highly exaggerated combat. It began in carnivals, shortly after the civil war, and gained widespread popularity in the 1980 s thanks to the reappearance of World Wrestling Federation, WWF, on network television. Although viewed as a barbaric, uneducated group of individuals, professional wrestling fans are a group with many forms of communications through their own slang terms, live events, and blogs. To begin, there are many misconceptions about wrestling fans, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The creation of these terms was established to not only describe the wrestlers, but also the fans and the overall show. Most of these terms are used more widely when discussing national promotions, like WWE and Total National Action (TNA), then independent promotions or the indies, like the World Wrestling Alliance (WWA) an indy company based out of Central City, Kentucky. There are basically two types of wrestlers: superstars, who are the male competitors, and divas, who are the female competitors. The superstars and divas can be either heel, a bad guy, or face, a good guy. When the wrestler switches from face to heel it is called a heel turn likewise when they switch from heel to face it is a face turn. The superstar and diva also portray a certain character or gimmick when they wrestler, that may continue for a short or long time considering how the fans react to it. When referring to the wrestler s status level, there are three overall types: the jobber, who is usually a newer, unknown wrestler whose main job is to lose to the better known wrestlers. The jobber may also be considered too green or inexperienced and prone to make more mistakes. Then there are the midcarders who wrestle more in the middle of the event and are seen as being a top wrestler but not a big money drawer. The highest status a wrestler can achieve is to be considered a main eventer. A main eventer is seen as the best of the company and one of the top money drawers on the roster and usually get to compete at the end of the show also known as the main event. The individuals who accompany the wrestler to the ring but do not actually complete are referred to as the wrestlers manager or valet. • 3. Galileo Galilei Research Paper Galileo Galilei was a teacher, astronomer, philosopher and physicist who is now referred to as the Father of the Scientific Revolution. The scientific revolution refers to a period of time of great advancement in the sciences that challenged the traditional beliefs about mankind s place and relationship with the universe held by religious orders (Bellis). Born in Pisa Italy on February 15, 1564 Galileo was the son of Vincenzo Galilei, musician and mathematician. He was the first of six children and began his education at the age of eight at the Camaldolese Monastery at Vallombrosa. Bringing a close connection to the Christian religion he became a lutenist. However, his father immediately removed him from the monastery and insisted that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the age of twenty he had made great observations in mechanics. He observed, a chandelier swinging and when time with his heartbeat he noticed that the swings in the chandelier were in larger or smaller arcs but whether it was swinging back or forth it took the same amount of time. This observation prompted Galileo to being his experiments, validating his theories and providing factual evidence to back his notions. During 1595 Galileo had taken a compass design invented by Niccolo Tartaglia and Guidobaldo del Monte and by 1598 he had improved it making it more accurate he had created a geometric and military compass by today s standards. Not only this but with the use of Galileo s flotation principles he invented a thermoscope which was later used as a basis for the modern day thermometer. Another of his experiments was an attempt to measure the speed of light. In which he and an assistant stood on two hilltops, holding a lantern with a shudder. When one opened the shutter the other would open his shutter. This took place with a distance of less than a mile and Galileo did not detect a delay in the time greater that when they were only meters apart. Although there was no conclusion to this experiment, Galileo thought that the distance between the hilltops and that perhaps the distance was too small for a worthy measurement. Galileo ... • 4. Irish Writer By Liam O Flaherty Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them. This quote by William Shakespeare certainly holds true to author Liam O Flaherty, who had defiantly achieved greatness. Irish author Liam O Flaherty was born August 28, 1897, on a small island off the coast of Ireland. O Flaherty was famous for the short stories he wrote during the Irish Renaissance, a time around the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. However, writing was not all that O Flaherty had worked as: a lumberjack, deckhand, dishwasher, bank clerk, and as a miner were various vocations he had been employed in. He had also traveled across several countries, some being the United States, Canada, and several others throughout South America. O Flaherty also served in World War I after abandoning his quest for priesthood (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2015). Sadly, on September 1, 1984, Liam O Flaherty died at the age of 87, but he left behind an incredible collection of written works for people around the world to enjoy. One popular short story that Liam O Flaherty wrote was The Sniper . This story takes place in the city of Dublin, the present day capital of Ireland, amidst the Irish Civil War. A young man close to his college years was atop a roof with his rifle, laying in silence. The young man had lit a cigarette, but as he did, a bullet streaked by his head. He then turned and saw ... Hans Holbein had made a career for himself and had lived in London since 1532 and was appointed court painter to the English Monarch in 1536, the year of the royal wedding. the one tone background of the painting is a concession to the interests of the court portrait. holbein convinced the court that such portraits with a flatness to it gives them a formal character. in the piece, Jane Seymour s jewelry, her garment, and her slightly pale features are focussed in a even light and presented in every detail a very old fashioned technique that had superseded by full tone chiaroscuro not only in Italian paintings. however this is very same technique that creates the necessary distance form the viewer is what Holbein intended. title: portrait of the King Fernando the seventh by Artist:Francisco de Goya y Lucientes Medium: oil on wood panel Period: 1814 The eldest surviving son of Charles VI King of Spain, Ferdinand was born in the vast palace of El ... • 6. Good Things that Came out fo the Great Depression From 1929 to the early 1940s, America was hit hard by the Great Depression. The economy plummeted to rock bottom. It affected millions of lives throughout the country, even the rich. It caused families to use shabby clothes again and again, instead of buying new apparel and wasting money. People cut back on spending and where they spent it. Then, WWII affected the economy by putting it back on track. Along with it, was the Manhattan Project, which greatly affected the U.S. The Manhattan Project (America s nuclear bomb,) was used in Hiroshima, Japan, during WWII. The US was greatly feared by Japan and other countries then. The Manhattan Project also created the Hydrogen bomb, which was never used but alarmed the American and Soviet Union public. These were not the only events that greatly affected America. Throughout the years 1945 to 1980, many events affected US society, such as John F. Kennedy s Inauguration Address in 1961, Elvis Presley, and color television. John F. Kennedy was born on the 29th of May, in the year 1917. He was also known as Jack . As a young child, he often got sick. He did not pressure himself to do school related work, unless it appealed to him. Even in college, he only did work unless it appealed to him. Learning about belonging and love is what drives the creature to his attempts at overcoming this need I heard the differences of sexes, and the birth and growth of children, how the father doted on the smiles of the infant, and the lively sallies of the older child, how all the life and cares of the mother were wrapped up in the precious charge, how the mind of youth expanded and gained knowledge, of brother, sister, and all the various relationships which bind one human being to another in mutual bonds (page 109).The creature realizes that he does not meet the factors in this need But where were my friends and relations? No father has watched my infant days, no mother had blessed me with smiles and caresses, or if they had, all my past life was now a blot, a blind vacancy in which I distinguished nothing (page 109). After realizing this, the creature makes attempts to overcome this level on his own. As the creature watches Old Man De Lacy s family, he grows an attachment and desires what the family has, relationships. His first attempt is when he approaches Old Man De Lacy Save and protect me! You and your family are the friends whom I seek. Do not desert me in the hour of trial (page 123). The creatures attempt fails; Old Man De Lacy s family sees the creature and instantly get scared. Separation Of Alantolactone Lab Report 3.2 Selection of soluble silver salt for the mobile phase Soluble silver salt in the mobile phase provided silver ion for the interactions with unsaturated C C bonds. Silver nitrate (AgNO3) that act as sources of silver ions has been frequently used in silver ion chromatography. However, bitrate radical (NO3-) in the mobile phase has the stronger background absorption among 190 ~ 240 nm as shown in Fig.2a [40]. Since the UV detection wavelength of alantolactone and isoalantolactone was also in the range of 190 to 240 nm as shown in Fig.2b [41], AgNO3 in mobile phase can cause extremely strong background absorption interference, as shown in Fig.2c and Fig.2d. • 9. Liberal Feminism vs. Radical Feminism Essay Liberal Feminism and Radical Feminism The goal of feminism as both a social movement and political movement is to make women and men equal not only culturally, but socially and legally. Even though there are various types of feminism that focus on different goals and issues, the ultimate end to feminism is abolishing gender inequality that has negative effects on women in our society. The issues and goals that a feminist may have are dependent on the social organization or the type of economic structure that is present. However, an ultimate end (a goal, achievement and/or accomplishment) would have to be social equality between men and women. This would mean the elimination of bias and discrimination towards women and the elimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also argue that gender inequality in not the outcome of choices, personal attributes or relationships with others, but structural sources such as workplaces, schools, and the government as they are unable to provide women with the same resources as men. This includes healthcare, education, equal wages and an overall balance between men and women. On the other hand, radical feminism is a form of resistance feminism, which means their issues primarily lie within patriarchy or men s dominance towards women. They argue that patriarchy is found wherever men and women are in contact with each other. They believe that patriarchy is almost impossible to abolish because to be superior is an attribute that most men have acquired of is already built into them. And whether it s consciously or subconsciously, these traits are applied into their privileges that Western society has given them (because they are men) and displayed within all the different aspects and occupations in their lives. The main view of liberal feminism is that all people are created equal by God and deserve equal rights. These types of feminists believe that oppression only exists because of the way men and women are socialized by society, which supports patriarchy and keeps men in powerful positions. Before the 1870 s downtowns where not developed as a centralized retail district, but catered exclusively to the immediate population (Ward 1971). Early Downtown Development Many downtowns first emerged as a distinctive place due to elite residents with homes in the area, which served as meeting places for important business transactions. By the late 19th century downtowns had typically been laid out with designated business blocks (Ford 2003). The growth of the business block as an economic center and booming downtown forced out any competition that were not appropriate with high rents, social pressure and architectural change (Ford 2003, pp 45). This was the origin of the spatial structure and land use patterns that are associated with contemporary downtowns. The origin of the town structure is most commonly affiliated with European cities as models of spatial layout. Specialty business and retail districts that characterized American downtowns and what we now image a good downtown to be are directly linked to it European counterpart. The key characteristic that defer from the European model was the tendency for American cities to be street oriented rather then place oriented. Even his teammates did not want to be associated with him anymore. Through this unbearable torture, he still did not shed a single tear. This story belongs to Jackie Robinson, a home run hero.Jackie Robinson, number forty two, is looked back on as a hero that was an immense part of baseball;Robinson was known for the incredible heroism he showed in baseball and in his community through his fifty three years of life. Using information from, What is Heroism, and, How Jackie Robinson Changed Baseball, The reader learns that Jackie Robinson s heroism is shown from his fight against the social norms of an era filled with discrimination, his courage when people tried to hurt him spiritually and physically, and his personal and his professional sacrifices to be part of baseball. First of all, Jackie Robinson showed and proved his heroism for how he went against the social norms to be the first African American to play in a previously all white sport;the courage required to break this barrier is an example of social heroism. In What is Heroism? it states, Yet social heroism is costly in its own way, often involving loss of credibility or financial stability, lower social status, arrest, torture, risks to family, and, in some cases, death. This statement rings true to Jackie Robinson because, when Jackie went against the strict views of racist baseball players and fans, he risked everything that the evidence stated! In the text, How Jackie Robinson Changed Baseball, the hero broke the color barrier by joining Major League Baseball, a professional sport. This hero defied discrimination at a time when people of color were not allowed to play baseball. He did not accept the racist idea of what a professional baseball player should look like cause he just wanted to be a part of baseball. Mr Ackerman acknowledged the existence of conflict and tried to manage it by sending his negotiating team to resolve the conflict and end the strike. Mr Ackerman has a pluralist view because he believes the issue should have been resolved during negotiations. He even went as far as awarding greater bargaining flexibility to the negotiating team. The mere fact that Mr Ackerman was so determined to resolve the conflict though means of collective bargaining should eliminate the likelihood of a unitary frame of reference. Collective bargaining, an equitable balance of power, and essentially the aim to compromise confirm that Mr Ackerman holds a pluralist view on industrial relations. Mr Ackerman fought to reach a consensus for personal and economic reasons. The breakthrough to reach a consensus was achieved after he delivered his speech. • 31. Essay on Disobedience in William Shakespeare s King Lear Disobedience in William Shakespeare s King Lear How sharper than a serpent s tooth it is to have a thankless child . Filial disobedience is a key theme in the play King Lear and in both the times it was set and written, children were not expected to disobey their fathers. Jacobean England was an extremely hierarchical society meaning that respect should not only be shown to the powerful and rich but also to parents and the elderly. Seventeenth century England would have been more devout in terms of religion than today and undoubtedly a Jacobean audience would have been familiar with the fifth commandment, Honour thy father and mother . Lear, like any king, Pagan or otherwise, would have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the source of Lear s outrage and he cannot believe that his most beloved daughter would not only go against his wishes, but also against the basic expectations he has of his children. This helps Shakespeare to show what an unstable character Lear is because he does not realise that Cordelia has actually done what he has asked and told him how much she loves him. Lear s emotions at this point swing between the extremes of love and anger because of this: Here I disclaim all my paternal care, Propinquity and property of blood And as a stranger to my heart and me. I.i.109 111 In his rage, Lear is willing to give up his love for his daughter even though he loves her immensely. It illustrates the fury and rash judgements that have become ingrained in his nature whilst king. He wants to prove to the court and possibly himself that, even though he is abdicating, he still wants to be seen as omnipotent. His self importance and need for praise leads him to thinking that Cordelia has shamed him and therefore banishes her. In spite of Goneril and Regan s obvious lies, Lear foolishly divides the kingdom between. Where Lear falls for their shallow lies, the audience sees through them and their sympathy lies with Cordelia. The audience also learn that the family dynamics depend on whether Lear ... • 33. Legalizing Prostitution As shown by the safe conditions the Netherlands has created, prostitution can be a safe and well controlled profession. If it remains illegal it forces women to work underground in unsafe conditions and without proper health and safety precautions. The Netherlands is now one of the best know examples of open, legalized prostitution because of its innovative advancements ( Legalizing Prostitution ). Under the government s new laws, safer environments are in place for prostitutes to work, and there has been a large creation of policies to promote safe sex. For example, brothels became legal as early as 2000 though the move is widely controversial ( Prostitution in the Netherlands ). Brothel owners feel as though it is unfair because it forces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before prostitution was legalized in Nevada, it was greatly profitable in many towns in the West. All other western states have shut down establishments selling sex, except for Nevada. In as early as 1937, a law was developed during weekly health checks for all prostitutes. The mandatory testing began in 1986 requiring weekly STD testing and monthly testing for HIV and syphilis. Condoms have been mandatory since 1988 for oral sex and intercourse, and laws have even gone as far as making brothel owners liable for customers who become infected with HIV after visitation ( Legalizing Prostitution ). Despite the legal status of brothels, there are copious rules owners must follow to uphold their establishments. Brothels can only exist in counties of populations less than 400,000. As a result of this law, brothels are illegal in Las Vegas (Giang). In 1979, a state law banned brothels from advertising in counties where it was an illegal act. Brothels have even gone as far as advertising large parking spaces for truck drivers who wish to stop during their commutes. Brothels have many restrictions in Nevada, but prostitutes must follow rules as well. In the majority of Nevada s counties, prostitutes must be of twenty one years or older, with the exception of Storey and Lyon counties where the age is eighteen. Prostitutes are encouraged to be workers of brothels, and soliciting outside of brothels is considered a misdemeanor. Alongside legal prostitution, illegal prostitution numbers are flourishing ( Legalizing Prostitution ). Furthermore, sex workers are considered independent contractors and do not receive unemployment, retirement, or health care benefits. In order for the women to receive any benefits from the state, they must register with the county sheriffs to receive documentation of their work. When a prostitute is ...
