The Soviet Union Of Ukraine Essay
Author s Note: This paper and/or essay has been written perceptive from the past, considering how
things were perceived and accomplished in the early part of 2014 and into 2015. It does not take into
account anything that the current administration might have done or not done, to alter the present
outcome.
Intro/Background
Ukraine officially declared itself an independent state in 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union,
when the communist Supreme Soviet of Ukraine proclaimed that Ukraine would no longer follow the
laws of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and only the laws of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist
Republics. [1] More than two decades later, the sovereign nation still has trouble escaping Russia s
threatening shadow. Ukraine s geographical position between Europe and Russia has left the country
divided culturally and politically. After many recent months of protests and street demonstrations, the
Ukrainian people were successful in ousting their incompetent and corrupt president, Vicktor
Yanukovych. Russian President Vladimir Putin however, was unwilling to accept this and in February
of 2014 Russian troops, aided by pro Russian local militia, occupied important sites across the
Crimean Peninsula under the pretext of protecting Russian people. Now Crimea and possibly Eastern
Ukraine is under Moscow s control and the Russian parliament has voted to annex the region into the
Russian Federation. [2] This is nothing new for Russia, as was evidenced

Improvement Of Technology And Its Use Has Been The...
Improvement of technology and its use has been the foundation for American economics. Although
such innovation does create jobs, customs, and cultures that contribute to the American lifestyle, it can
also create pollution that harms the environment and brings about environmental injustice. People
focus on outcome effects of a certain project. Whether its main goal is for economic gains, to help
improve the way American people live, or even if it is harming the ecosystem in any way, they will
intervene. However, what people don t pay attention to is the tool that is being used to accomplish
such goals that can produce complications as it relates to the environment and injustice that comes
with the utilization of technology. This creates a selective exposure mentality in the sense that if the
tool being used has been here before the person was born or even if the tool is used to support daily
activities within the American household and lifestyle, then in no way should it be harmful to humans
or the environment. There must be a different way in which American citizens can identify such
potential dangers so that disaster can be avoided. One approach is to have professionals in the related
field expose such technologies that people believe are helping them but instead are causing damage to
the environment. As a previous low voltage linemen with seven years of experience, alongside my
father who has been a low voltage linemen for twenty plus years, one tool that must be

The Movie Blackfish Sparknotes
The movie Blackfish is a documentary of the story of Tilikum, a captive killer whale that has taken
several lives, exploits the issues amongst the sea park industry, and illustrates how little is known
about these intelligent mammals. The experiences and treatment of the Orcas in Blackfish share
commonalities with that of Blacks in America. The film touches on commonalities that can be
generalized in comparison with slavery: family, captivity, sound and language, natural and captured
behavior, separation. Through genes, captivity and the psychological and physical abuse of the whales
in the movie Blackfish, one can determine and acknowledge that there is a correlation between the
situation of African Americans today and the enslavement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whale is still in captivity and some of today s African Americans are still enslaved. We, as a
people, are in a position today where we control very little and are slaves to white people for goods
and services. Our educational system, which we do not control, does not prepare children for a future
and it lacks very little education of our history as a people. We are segregated from white people and
we are killing each other at an alarming rate. Our dollars do not go back into the community but to the
Jordon s and Polo s of the world and neither company does anything for our people or community.
Every large corporation from hair care products to BET has been sold to the white man for the
almighty dollar. To have a sense of a future we must know our past of slavery and what was forced
upon our ancestors 150 years of free labor with no education and no since of family. It seems we are
back 150 years ago: no education and no since of family. Why can t we break the chains? Will we be
like the whales, held captive by enslavement until we violently rebel, or are we already

Dangerous Injuries Caused by Playing Baseball Essay
According to a famous baseball coach, Baseball is not a contact sport, but contact with a ball, bat, or
another player result s in the most serious injuries (Yenko). Jayne Yenko is correct, a point that needs
emphasizing since so many people believe that injuries can happen anyway. there are three types of
baseball players: Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what
happens (Tommy Lasorda). Baseball has been my favorite sport all my life, therefore I would like to
learn more about the injuries in baseball. I really enjoy playing ball and want to be more educated
about the facts about injuries in baseball. Baseball is considered a, non contact sport, but contact with

Symptoms associated with a UCL injury include the following: pain on the inside of the elbow, a
sense of looseness or instability elbow, decreased ability to throw a baseball or other object. (Tommy).
Rarely do UCL injuries interfere with non throwing activities, such as: activities of daily living,
exercising, lifting weights, batting in baseball or running (Tommy). Some players are usually first
treated with conservative (non surgical) therapies. These therapies include: rest, ice and non steroidal
anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (Tommy). However, when rest and physical therapy are
unsuccessful in treating shoulder pain or if an injury is discovered on MRI, surgical treatment may be
needed (Baseball). Do you know that, each year nearly 6 out of 10 young pitchers hurt their elbow
(Understanding). Do you understand that, some injuries can be career ending if severe enough, as joint
replacement does not work well for athletes (Baseball). If you notice that you are starting to have
trouble with your elbow and shoulder (Baseball Players). However, the ultimate goal of treatment for
shoulder pain is to return the player to the field in a safe and timely manner, with a restored ability to
throw with speed and accuracy. Initial treatment consists of resting the arm, thereby avoiding the
activity that causes or increases the pain (Baseball Players). However, the University of North

The Agrarian Revolt Of The 1920
The Agrarian revolt of the 1920 to 1926 in Naranja occurred well before all other regions of Mexico
could gather themselves and demand for such. It was a risky endeavor and it only succeeded because
of the historic precedent that favor the Tarascans of Naranja. From their pre conquistador contact
history to their post Diaz situation, the people of Naranja were pushed towards the front of the queue
of people with grievances toward the Mexican government. Their experiences also built up their moral
and courage to revolt despite the repercussions and the probability of backlash. Then finally, their
leaders, especially Primo Tapia, were uniquely prepared to take up the mantle and lead them to
victory. The people of Naranja, Michoacan were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people of Naranja were also nearly exclusively Indian (indigenous). There was even a common
but unspoken animosity towards mestizos and people of Spanish descent and origin. Fredrich had
mentioned that then and even now, there is the very occurrence of mixing of the Spanish and
indigenous blood in these parts. Like mentioned before most were illiterate in Spanish and they were
very set in their ways traditionally. The Spaniards had also ruled over the people indirectly via an
already established royal hierarchy in the region in the form of a cacique. Hence the people had had
little direct exposure to the Spanish (and later on Mexican) governing forces. The most influential
outsider was without a doubt the local priest. All these accumulated and made the Tarascan people an
isolated people that did not conform to societal expectations of submissiveness to authority or docility
in the presence of oppressive government regimes. Then the economic and social impacts of the
Spanish (or Mexican) government was also a great influencer in their decision to revolt at the time that
they did. During the Diaz era, some brothers were granted land in the area, near the lake. This land
was not given to these brothers with the consent of the people of Naranja, only their corrupt and
incompetent leaders and Porfirio Diaz signed off on the deal. These businessmen developed a very
successful grain hacienda on the land and they employed the

The Tuskegee Experiments
The Tuskegee Experiments arose from a curiosity in the progression of syphilis is African American
men. In 1932, a study was set up, meant to observe the consequence of syphilis (Brandt, 2012). This
was done despite the result of the Rosenwald Study in 1929. The Rosenwald Study found that mass
treatment of the African American population in Macon County, the site of the Tuskegee Experiments,
was possible (Brandt, 2012). Six hundred African American men participated in this study: 399 men
with syphilis, serving as the test subjects; and 201 men without syphilis, serving as the controls. The
experiment was meant to last only 6 months, but ended after 40 years when a story about the Tuskegee
experiments was released to the public (CDC, 2015). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This occurs when the red blood cells of a person with the disease has an abnormal form of hemoglobin
called Hb S. Instead of the biconcave disk shape, the red blood cells are long, stiff, rod like structures,
making it easier for the cell to rupture. The cells also have difficulty moving through blood vessels
and can cause clots (Tortora and Derrickson, 2014). As of now, the only cure for sickle cell anemia is a
bone marrow or stem cell transplant, though there are various treatments that can ease the symptoms
and prolong life (CDC, Jan 2016). Sickle cell anemia is very dangerous to have as the patient would
experience blood loss and require blood transfusions, and they would also be exposed to infection
(CDC, June 2016). The disease is inherited and is most commonly found in populations with ancestors
from sub Saharan Africa, Spanish speaking regions, Saudi Arabia, India, and Mediterranean countries.
In the United States, about 1 in 365 African American births have sickle cell disease (CDC, Feb 2016).
In areas where malaria is prevalent, there is selective pressure for sickle cell trait (individuals who
have one sickle cell gene and one normal gene, also called carriers). It is accepted that there are
multiple mechanisms for how the sickle cell gene can block malarial infection (Gong et al., 2013;
Bunn, 2013). A mechanism described in early studies proposed a model where P. falciparum is unable
to grow and develop due to the oxidative stress placed on the red blood cell. In a sickle cell trait red
blood cell, the cell would become sickled due to oxygen consumption from the parasite (Bunn, 2013).
Other mechanisms include impairment of adhesion, and inhibition of transcription by host microRNAs

How London Has Changed Over Time Essay
Everyone dreams of living in a castle and having royal power but in London, England the monarchy
runs things a little differently than most would think. Beginning with London s general history, the
monarchy s history, and how London has changed over the years. The city has a very remarkable past
on how it evolved over time. London, England has been around for a very long time, therefore the city
itself has a lot of history. The cities engaging and eventful history starts off in 50 A.D, when the
Romans founded London. The word London is considered a Celtic word (Lambert). During the
medieval times London was the only British city around (Cody). In the early years of London the
Romans built a bridge to cross over the Thames river. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

occurred in 1216, during that time London was occupied by Prince Louis (Barnfield). The great fire of

Did the Holocaust occur
The Holocaust was a genocide that took place in Germany in 1933 through 1945. In 1933 Adolf Hitler
had become ruler of Germany and gave himself the title Füher . Being the leader of the Germans and
Nazis, he and his followers believed that Germans were racially superior to the Jews and thought they
were to be punished. At first Jews were arrested and even killed for uncommitted crimes. Then came
the ghettos when the Nazis would push Jewish people into smaller, crowded sections of cities and
store them until transferring them to more restricted concentration camps. After arriving in the camps,
Jews were separated from friends and family, worked until they were weak and some eventually lost

Some famously known autobiographies are ones such as Night by Elie Weisel, Man s Search for
Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl, A Lucky Child: A Memoir of Surviving Auschwitz as a Young Boy by
Thomas Buergenthal. All of these are just a few examples of the very many stories written about the
Holocaust. Another popularly known author is Anne Frank and her diary, although she did not survive
her story helped carry a message of how living during the Holocaust would ve felt.
Another big example of how the Holocaust was a real event is the survivors. Although many were
young at the time, survivors still live to tell their stories about their horrific experiences there. Some of
them have been able to share on media such as talk shows, through books and traveling to give
speeches. A well known author, political activist, Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor is Elie
Wiesel. He was born in 1928, just a few years before Hitler gained control. He wrote a book, Night ,
which explains his struggles during the Holocaust that was similar to all the others experiences that

The s Super Size Me
Being able to persuade someone is a very powerful thing, Morgan Spurlock in the documentary Super
Size Me surely did. In this film, he sets out a goal to prove that Mc Donald s is very bad for you. To
prove that he eats a different meal from their menu three times a day for thirty days. He demonstrated
techniques that made him very convincing to the audience. Some of the major techniques he used
were the use of many facts/statistics, the audience trusting him, and interviewing people that are living
with health issues from fast food. Instead of showing you the statistics on paper he did it himself and
that right there is out of the ordinary. Risked his life to show his point and he sure did prove his point.
Morgan used many facts and statistics throughout this film. A certain part of the documentary he
shows the audience how affecting advertising is to children. The technique was very interesting
because of instead of just telling the audience that advertising is very convincing to your children he
showed them. He gathered together a couple of children and started asking them general questions that
the average kid should know. He showed pictures of pretty important people and none of them knew
who they were. Morgan Spurlock: What is this a picture of? Child: I don t know. George W. Bush?
[Morgan shows the camera that it is actually a picture of Jesus] Then he showed a picture of Ronald
Mc Donald and the kids instantly stood up and knew who he was. Showing the audience

Swastika Significance
The Swastika went from being a great symbol that was worshiped, to being a hated symbol on a flag
that represented one of the worst things that has ever happened in history, mass genocide. The
Swastika is best known as a symbol on the flag for the National Socialist German Workers Party
(Nazi) in Germany. The Nazis were a political group of people trying to take over the world and
exterminate the Jews during WWII in 1933 1945. Adolf Hitler became their leader and led Germany
to exterminate between 5 and 6 million Jews during that time.. Hitler adopted the Swastika because of
its ancient Aryan origins. The history of the Swastika goes way back 11,000 years ago with the
Hindus. The Swastika was actually not hated but cherished. It was a religious symbol that meant good
fortune. There is still a holiday celebrated in many Eastern cultures where they shoot off fireworks in

Peter Madsen, part of the movement said, We just want people to know that the swastika comes in
many other forms, none of which have ever been used for anything bad. We are also trying to show
the right wing fascists that it s wrong to use this symbol. If we can educate the public about the true
meanings of the swastika, maybe we can take it away from the fascists (Campion, How the World
Loved the Swastika until Hitler Stole It). Despite all of this, Adolf Hitler has forever ruined the
original meaning of the Swastika. Freddie Knoller, a man who lived through the Holocaust said he
could never see it as anything but bad. He said, For the people who went through the Holocaust, we
will always remember what the swastika was like in our life a symbol of pure evil, (Campion, How
the World Loved the Swastika until Hitler Stole It). The Swastika will always be known above all else

The Huang He River
Esteemed members of the UNESCO Board. The Huang He River, commonly referred to as the Yellow
River is a riverine landscape that flows from the West of China to the East, through nine Northern
Provinces. (Huang He Britannica, 2011) The rivers source (the Kunlun Mountains) are located at 36°N
and 84°E and its mouth (the Bohai Sea) is located at 38.7°N and 119.9°E. Located in China, this river
should be under the state of investigation by UNESCO due to the bad pollution the region is receiving.
The area s climate is cool winters, with temperatures dropping below 0°, and short dry summers.
Created by progressive erosion, the Huang He River Valleys give insights into Ancient Chinese
Civilisations. The River is affectionately named The Cradle of Ancient Chinese Civilisation. (Yellow
River WWF, 2013). The Riverine Landscape was formed by water flow erosion from its source; the
Kunlun mountains. This erosion has created valleys where the water currently flows downstream to
the Bohai Sea. The water s colour is yellow because of the masses of the fertile Loess sediments
deposited there, but often seen other colours due to pollution. This fertile soil has meant the land and
banks is traditionally excellent for crop farming for the locals, but in modern times, excessive
pollution has devastated this ability to farm freely. The river is known as having three main sections,
the upper reaches, the middle reaches, and the Lower reaches. (China Travel, 2009) The image below

(TED) Talk in May of 2011 entitled How to Tie Your Shoes. During which, he humorously explained
the best way to tie one s shoes to a group of highly intelligent individuals. He displayed the age old
ways of how to tie shoes, and shows why his way is the best. Moore tries to show everyone that the
processes people do every day have the possibility to be improved. Moore does a fantastic job
delivering information about a seemingly silly topic, tying one s shoes, through his own personal
experiences and the informal words he used during his speech. Moore was able to legitimize the
subject of his speech by admitting that he had also been tying his shoes wrong for the majority of his
lifetime. In the speech Moore said, I know this sounds ludicrous. And believe me; I lived the same sad
life until about three years ago. This shows that Moore, like the audience he is trying to reach, also did
not know how to tie his shoes the correct way. Explaining that he did not know how to tie his shoes
correctly, but now does, legitimizes himself as speaker on the subject. This allows him to be an
appropriate presenter to such an elite group of people. This is helpful because trying to explain that
these extremely intelligent people are performing an everyday task completely wrong is no

The True Meaning of Intelligence Essays
When a person utters the word intelligence, people tend to think of a genius like Albert Einstein
developing some obscure equation that the great majority of the population will never understand. The
problem with the definition of intelligence is that people relate intelligence to words like genius which
require intelligence but do not have the same definition as intelligence. Often, people try to use related
words to define intelligence, but these words are unable to define intelligence since many are only
different levels of intelligence. While many definitions try to encompass the meaning of intelligence
and various definitions describe a small part of intelligence, no definition completely explains
intelligence, because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although intelligence is a concept, there are many definitions that try to describe and interpret
intelligence for people. One of the many definitions is the capacity to understand (World English
Dictionary: Intelligence). This definition is describing intelligence and giving one facet of the
diamond that is the various definitions of intelligence. This simple definition is often used by many
common people, but a more in depth definition is the ability to derive information, learn from
experience, adapt to the environment, understand, and correctly utilize thought and reaction (APA
Dictionary of Psychology: Intelligence). This definition delves deeper into intelligence and paints a
general picture of intelligence but is unable to define intelligence for a simple reason. Intelligence is a
concept and thus is impossible to completely define by one comprehensive definition. Since
intelligence is a concept, there are no words that are able to completely explain the concept, but there
are words that can give a general idea of the concept. Intelligence has three main facets that must be
acknowledged before one can understand intelligence. Each facet is intertwined with another of the
facets that each connect to create intelligence. The three facets are logic, growth, and emotion. The
logic of intelligence allows one to solve problems in order to

Alone On The Yukon Trail
The man in this story has had a long and difficult journey, filled with emotional and physical pain. The
only company he had was a native dog who followed him everywhere he went. The cold air of the
Yukon trail presented a major problem for the man as he fought off frost bite. Throughout the story he
struggled against nature a lot. With ups and downs along the way, the weather was always against him
as he thought of ways to survive. In the end, nature won.
Alone on the Yukon trail, there was a man climbing in negative 50 degree weather. He did not believe
it when they said it would be that cold. As the temperature dropped below 50 degrees, the man
realized it was quite cold. The only thing to keep him warm was fire. He climbs for many hours,
trying to get back to camp and to the boys. However right now he was alone with a dog. The only
reason the dog stuck by him was so the man could make fire. The dog had learned about fire, and it

Good Will Hunting

Reflection about the movie Good Will Hunting
I chose to write about the movie Good Will Hunting because it shows how one s life, relationships and
future are ruined because of repression and not believing in one s self. The main character of the
movie is Will Hunting. He is a twenty year old MIT janitor. Will decided to take revenge on someone
who used to abuse him in the past, and physically assaulted him which led to his arrest. He suffered a
terrible childhood as he grew up as an orphan in various foster homes where he struggled from
physical abuse. Luckily for him, Will got the attention of a brilliant MIT professor who was curious
about his gifts. He managed to get the judge to let Will go with the condition of him visiting a
psychologist. Will started to receive support and a caring environment as he started dating a gifted pre
med student who became his girlfriend and gave him the opportunity of experiencing love. He also
received the support from his psychologist who started to care ... Show more content on

In my humble opinion, the environment is what draws the line between people giving up on life and
people fighting their way out. I imagine myself in Will s situation where nothing is going right, I don t
make enough money to live, I don t goals, and most importantly I do not believe in myself. Now here
s where the environment should step in and support me and tell me that I am worth something, and
that I am capable of doing great things and that I should believe in myself. The support of the
environment will change people s lives because it is what incentivized all great men in history to
accomplish all those achievement. Behind every great man, a great woman this quote explains how
can the support of a wise hardworking and caring mother could lead her boy to become a great man in
the future which emphasizes on the importance of support in one s

Frank Morris And The Anglin Brothers
Did Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers die in the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay? Alcatraz is a

the middle of the shark infested San Francisco Bay. Morris and the Anglin brothers are in it, but not
for long. Morris and the Anglin brothers made it out alive. Morris and the Anglin brothers made it out
alive because they had a lot of patience. For example, in the escapee s toolkit column, it explains that
the men used nail clippers and stolen spoons to dig holes in the walls of their jail cells. It took months
to dig holes large enough to crawl through. This reveals that the men were determined to get out of

of the plot in his third vignette titled The Blizzard. Here the viewer(s) see the man along with others
struggling against the bitter cold storm. At the peak of the storm the men seemingly give up entirely.
The main character shows his strength by defeating ultimately his own paranormal figure. This allows
the man to not only help himself, but the other men along with him as well. His choice ultimately
saved them all. This idea of choice is shown in the following vignette as well The Tunnel. Here a dog
appears to warn the man to stay out of or to stay away from the tunnel. The man walks through the
tunnel slowly and cautiously. He gives the illusion that he is looking at something he remembers or his
past per se. Reaching the end of the tunnel he is faced with men of his past. He then tells the men
about his failed choice to put them into action. His determination to send the men back to where they

Examples Of Caricatures In A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Caricatures
Writers have always set out to create realistic characters. Some have succeeded in creating characters
with unique goals and personalities while others fail to truly optimize the potential of their characters
and instead have relied on some discernible caricatures. For example, from A Tale of Two Cities by
Charles Dickens, written in 1858 to Crash, released in 2005, characters have been praised for their
originality and criticized for being stereotypical and bland. However while some characters may
appear to be caricatures, both Dickens and Haggis were constrained by time and societies explanation,
forcing them to rely on some caricatures to make the story more accessible. Both Dickens and Robert

continues to grow, Dr. Manette s is finally given an opportunity to end the Evremonde bloodline. The
bloodthirsty mob of the rebellion storms La Force, where Charles Evremonde is currently held. The
mob detests anyone that had any remote connection to the French Aristocracy and would gladly
murder him. Had Dr. Manette not used his influence as a Bastille survivor, Charles would ve been
gored on the street. Despite his hatred for the Evremonde family, Dr. Manette forgoes his past to save
the husband of one very dear to him. Finally, Dr. Manette is able to move on from the years of hatred
in the Bastille, and he personally vouches for the Evremonde at his trial. Ultimately, Dr. Manette
ceases to hold the Evremonde bloodline responsible for the heinous actions committed and had instead
worked tirelessly to save his son in law. Through Dr. Manette, Dickens portrays a character that not
only complete contradicts his initial caricature of a vengeful prisoner but also grows into someone
willing to forgive someone who had wronged him.
Despite such a strong lead character, where Dickens fell flat, especially for modern readers, was with
his female characters, such as Lucie Manette. When we are

Charles Darwin, The Father Of Evolution
Layden Butler
Mrs.Warrem
Bio I dual credit
14 December 2015
Evolution
Charles Darwin, the father of evolution, wisely stated, It is not the strongest of the species that
survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. This statement directly
reflects my opinion on the theory of evolution and that of Charles Darwin. Our species has evolved
over time and adapted to the conditions that faced us. Charles Darwin, his background and
discoveries, along with the evolution of human beings over time prove with great detail just how
necessary and realistic evolution is. In most cases, the argument about evolution brings up one s
religious values. However, the clear science behind the many theories of evolution outweighs and all
religious arguments about this topic. Humans, and many other species, have distinct connections to the
organisms of our past and will continue to change in order to for the future of our civilization.
Darwin s Background
To start off, Darwin s childhood and background are much different than what may be expected.
Charles Darwin was born on the 12th of February, 1809. Darwin s birthplace was is Shrewsbury,
England to Robert and Susannah Darwin. His grandfather, Erasmus Darwin, was very interested in the
ideas of evolution and was well know during that time. Even though Charles never met Erasmus, he
shared alot of the same interests. He was the fifth child in his family, and his parents were well off in

True Equality for Women at the Workplace
People are judged by their gender, which often, in many situations, lead to bias decisions and
unfairness within business organizations for women. Women are often not held up to the standard of a
man in the business workforce, which leaves them with fewer position choices outside the norm. Most
jobs that women have are not demanding upon the body and require little to no strength. The failure to
understand adaptation by the government has caused many reforms in the past, but there are still many
flaws in the hiring system that often leave women asking questions and puzzled by the bias decisions
of men in charge of the management of positions. The fight for equality amongst women has been

Speech On Mimicry In Speech
Mimicry the highest form of respect. Mimicry is the act of imitating one s behaviors or voice in an
effort to replicate another human or animal. Animals may use mimicry as camouflage so they can
easily catch prey or escape their predator. For humans, mimicry is more than just flattering, it s a style
choice. When you imitate someone it s because they ve affected you personally and forced you into an
unknown body; a substitute for the real you. Would you expect a newborn baby to understand the
inner workings of a language? Of course not! Newborn s minds are not developed enough to
understand language or anything, besides how to eat. However, over time the baby s brain will
develop and more information could be stored in knowledge. We teach our children a method of
mimicry called repetition and is the basis for all learning under the age of nine years old. As children
fall into this mushy cycle of repeating everything they see, they often look to their role models and
providers: their parents. Parents provide the basis for children s accent, speech pattern, body language,
and reactions. Parents are the child s teacher in every way, shape, and form possible. What would you
do if you lost that parent? As a young child, I experienced an abundance of death amongst my family
members. Young, old, they would all fall a great fate sooner than expected. Worst of them all was the
woman I clung to since I was born. One day I returned from school to see my mother in rusty
wheelchair with purple bruises covering her skin. Being rushed to an ambulance, I couldn t speak to
her, I couldn t speak to anyone, I was alone with my thoughts. At six years old, I was unaware of any
illnesses or any injury, I had never been taught. I sat there in my 12x4 room and wondered for days.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. In and out of the hospital, but unaware of what
was actually happening. Finally after enough slow teaching, I understood that my mother had
leukemia; a skin cancer. It really seemed like a dream to me, because one minute she was there and
then poof she was gone. Grieving can bring groups of individuals together and heal the deepest

The Magical World Of Disney World
At the age of eight, it was finally time for little Timmy to experience the magical world of Disney
World. His parents had spent the past two years, saving up just enough money for a three night stay at
one of the resorts in Orlando. Saving the money was no easy task, as they had to often make some
tough choices on where to spend less in their daily routine. They would save with little things such as
eating in rather than spending an extraordinary amount of amount money on fancy restaurants. They
believed the resulting trip to Disney world would pay off and make up for the lousy home cooked
meals. Of course, while booking the trip, they knew that time would be scarce and a solid plan on how
to get the most out of a three night trip was crucial. They decided that since most of their time would
be spent outside and within the amusement parks, a cheap hotel would suffice and more money could
be spent on an all park pass along with extra fast passes to skip the long lines. They also decided it
was worth buying a plane ticket rather than make the long drive up to Florida from Boston. They
knew the experience of flying in a plane would be well worth the extra $500 they could be saving
otherwise. The father, Jim, used his experience as a long time traveling salesman to book the perfect
flight plan for his family. He recognized that the flights later in the day would allow them to avoid
more traffic on the way there while also getting some extra sleep, but, at the cost of time that

To begin with, Pasteur can be credited with the discovery the existence of molecular asymmetry,
which effectively created the field of science known as Stereochemistry. In the ten years following his
discovery, Pasteur further investigated the ability of organic substances to rotate the plane of polarized
light; with the information from his studies, he became convinced him that asymmetry was one of the
fundamental characteristics of living matter, a vastly important contribution to the field of science in
general. In addition to this, Stereochemistry allows us to know how a certain molecule will interact
with an organism; anti nausea medications in the 1950 s that created devastating birth defects with

The Influence Of Photography On American Culture
Art is not to be found by touring to Egypt, China, or Peru; if you cannot find it at your own door, you

compound . J. Schulze mixed chalk, nitric acid, and silver in a flask, and then noticed how the mixture

Later, in 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made what he called sun pictures by placing objects on a piece of
leather treated with silver nitrate, which were the first photographs, although they faded and
deteriorated if exposed to much light. In 1816, Nicéphore Niépce combined the photosensitive paper
with the camera obscura, which after multiple tries and multiple years, created a permanent image on
the paper. In 1834, Henry Fox Talbot created a permanent image using paper soaked in silver chloride

ideas that were built together to become a camera were compounded more rapidly. In 1851, Frederick

least 18 to 30 years old to participate in the study. UMKC has a very large and diverse campus; we
will reach out to the Applied Language Institute (ALI) students through a class survey. We decided
that college would be a better population to start out with because it provides many social
opportunities. We are looking for a population that will provide us with direct feedback from the trial.
Students in college will know how they learn and be able to explain how technology either helped
them or hurt them while learning. Having students participate on campus also ensures that they have
access to internet and WiFi. We are aware that there are many limitations that face college students,
but there are also benefits to choosing students in college.
Sample
The participants in the study range from 18 to 30 years old. We did not specify what year we are
looking for in college. We just wanted to have adults participate. If there are students that do not fit
into the age range, they should be noted as younger and provide parental consent in order to ensure
that we will be able to

Persuasive Speech About Interview
I definitely bombed that interview. This sucks, I really needed this job, but after that interview there is
no way that I got the job. They will probably give it to that jerk Todd. I bet you re wondering how
such a well rounded, responsible, and qualified individual could drop the ball this badly. Zombies,
clowns, and one spilled strawberry banana smoothie.
My alarm clock went off at the perfect time 6:30, just enough time to use the bathroom, put in my
contacts, and brush my teeth. Today is a big day I have to look exquisite, I put on my only suit, and
attempted to tie my tie without the help of YouTube but inevitably I do need some help. I decide since
it is an early interview I can just get breakfast after the interview. I ... Show more content on

Hold up let s just take a moment to recognize that Wayne Gretzky was introduced into my life like he
is coming onto a 90 s sitcom.
Wait hold on , I say there wasn t even ice here a minute ago, It s July .
Don t worry about it he replied hold onto my jersey .
Well I wasn t expecting to be pulled by Wayne Gretzky down the streets of Manhattan but then again
neither was I expecting a zombie apocalypse.
Dang , he says quietly.
Uhh I don t like the way that sounds what s up , I nervously say.
Oh just killer clowns that s all he replies surprisingly calm.
Oh yea no biggie I say sarcastically.
I ll take care of it don t even worry he says as he drops three pucks. Slap shot to the right side, BOOM,
a clown falls. Another to the left then to the right. And all three clowns are down.
Well then I say stunned.
He pulls up to the engineering building.
This is where I let you off he says.
Um why I reply curious why he would want me to still want me to go to a job interview even though

Scapegoats In The Crucible
In the play The Crucible, the use of scapegoats is rampant; the main use being to place blame onto
others in order to deflect blame from themselves or to help reach a goal. Those that don t agree with
the majority or have differing ideas are outcasts and easily made scapegoats. Many of the scapegoats
in the play can attribute the blame they receive to the antagonist, Abigail Williams. Three primary
examples of people that are scapegoats because of Abigail are, the Parris servant Tituba, the Proctor s
servant Mary Warren, and Elizabeth Proctor the wife of Abigail s past infatuation. At the start of the
play Abigail faces accusations from Parris and Reverend Hale of dancing in the woods. Knowing that
dancing in the woods is a very critical offense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the play we see instances where Abigail shows she still has feelings for John saying things
like Give me a word, John. A soft word. , but she is only met with rejection from John No, no, Abby.
That s done with. . (Miller 22) as he has moved on and is trying to live a more righteous life. Even
though John has made his intentions clear Abby continuously attempts to sway him ...do you tell me
you ve never looked up at my window? (Miller 23) believing he will still come back to her. After still
facing rejection from John, Abigail believes the only reason he denies her is because of his wife.
Knowing that she has the power to condemn people by accusing them of witchcraft, Abigail decides
that it is the only option she has to be with John. As time goes on the Proctor family is torn apart when
Cheever, a clerk of the court, comes with a warrant for Elizabeth. The Proctor s find out the reason for
the arrest is because of attempted murder through the use of witchcraft. It is to our understanding that
a poppet that is in the possession of Elizabeth, given to her by their servant, Mary, was used to attempt
to murder Abigail . As the situation goes on we discover the entire ordeal was an elaborate plan by
Abigail when Mary says ...she saw me sewin it in court. Or better still: Ask Abby, Abby sat beside me
when I made it. revealing that it was a plan by Abigail. Abigail saw Mary making a poppet for
Elizabeth and came to the realization that it would probably be her best chance to get Elizabeth out of
the picture. By placing blame on Elizabeth, Abigail is able to further her own personal goal of being

Observational Learning Research
The method of learning I best understand is observational learning because I am definitely more of a
visual learner. Graphs, charts, and experiments are some of the more visual things that help me learn
best. Besides school though, I know observational learning has helped me immensely in the sports I
have done like cheerleading and gymnastics. I always need someone to show me how to do the
tumbling pass or demonstrate how the cheer routine is done to really understand and internalize what I
need to do. If someone tried to explain just using words how to do a certain trick in gymnastics, I
would never be able to figure out how to do it. Instead, I watch and take notes in my mind as the
instructor performs the trick and demonstrates after how I need to use my arms, shoulders and core to
safely and effectively execute the trick. While observational learning was very efficient for me when
learning gymnastics, I do not believe the other methods of learning would be as helpful. I think each
method has it time and place where it works best, but it all depends on the situation. For example,

like this concept of learning because I do not like to think that I could possible not have control over
my response and reactions to a certain stimulus. However, there is one instance of classical
conditioning I know has taken place in my life. I set my alarm to get up in the morning as the default
bell alarm tone. Now every time I hear that alarm go off when I m going about my day I flinch and
internally groan even though I m already up and awake. Really, I cannot think of a good way classical
conditioning has affected me, however, I don t know if I d be able to identify it even if it was
somehow affecting me since the conditioning is often times very

Benefits Of Same Sex Education
Is same sex education more beneficial? In 2006, only about four percent of the freshman class of
Chicago s Urban Prep Academy was able to read at grade level. But, in May of 2011, one hundred
percent of the senior class had been accepted to four year colleges/universities, many receiving full
scholarships. (Novotney, 2011) This was the first all male public charter high school in the United
States. The fact that this school was same sex education is the main factor that brought one hundred
percent of these seniors success. In today s society, there is usually no distinction between same sex
education and co education. However, there is a distinction. This distinction is that same sex education
is more beneficial to students. Society today does not realise this, even though there are many factors
that prove it. One main difference is that same sex schools are usually private schools while co
education schools are usually public schools. Parents in society today differentiate the schools by if
they would prefer to pay for the education (private same sex schools) versus not paying (co education
public schools). However, there is a difference. This difference is the fact that same sex education
schools are more beneficial for students. Despite this fact, the costs of private schools still prevent
parents from sending their children to these schools. Another issue that arises is that the decision of
sending your children to either same sex schools and co education schools

Oppressors In America Research Paper
The guilt of nurturing lust for power made Hagar run away from Sara. In this context, I observe, that
the powerless concubine became all powerful she ran away twice from Sara. Her reasons for doing so
might be many, most notable being that Hagar was the biological mother of Ishmael, and further the
tables turned when Sara asked Abraham to send Hagar away there is a shift in the power roles. Hagar s
acts of running away from Sara twice helps me perceive Hagar taking over the role of an oppressor
from her former role of one being oppressed. To explicate this, as a maid, Hagar was oppressed into
forcible sexual relationship with Abram, the same oppressed concubine can be perceived as the
oppressor who torments Sara because she is the birthing mother of Abraham s son and hence looks
down upon Sara. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To clarify, by this, I mean the white American Christians of today that were once colonized by the
British rulers and sought freedom to build their own nation have now formed their own groups to
target and oppress others, the people of color in this regard the KKK group that has successfully
burned crosses and lynched the African Americans, seeking to further build up the agendas of white
Christianity. While reading the article by Dr. Stephen Ray, Jr., the question intrigued me about how the
white Christians, for whom the cross should have been the object of liberation, have gone to the path
of being the oppressors to the black community? As I observe, the unasked question is: When did,
Christianity preach and teach hatred against anyone, calling judgement upon them by enslaving and
burning them? I find the question extremely relevant to the theological

The Frontispice And Incipit Of The Gelasian Sacrament
The Frontispice and Incipit of the Gelasian Sacrament, is the art from the first two pages of the
Gelasian Sacrament. While it is impossible to know for certain, since this piece was neither signed nor
dated, it is widely accepted that this piece was created by nuns in the nunnery at Chelles. The nunnery
at Chelles is famous for having cultivated the art of writing. 1 The story of the journey of this codex is
unknown. From the nunnery in France, this codex spent time in the library of Queen Christina of
Sweden, before heading to the Vatican Library. But other than these three location, the whereabouts of
this book through the century are unknown. What is known is this codex was made for priest not
bishops and was used in Roman churches in the seventh century. 2 Also, it has not, however, reached
us in its original form, but with modifications and additions made by generation after generation. 3
The two pages are strikingly similar. They both use the same color scheme of red outlines, with red,
blue, green and yellow decorations. The figures used on both pages are similar, crosses, birds, horses,
fish, and felines. Also, the stylistic choice of putting figures inside circles was reoccurring. In the
Frontispice, the image on the left, there is a decorative arch encasing a cross. It appears that the artist
attempted to make the image symmetrical, with the line of symmetry running vertically down the
middle of the page. There is only one definite difference between the

How Musical Instruments Has Affected Society
Musical instruments have played many major roles in helping with the construction of many societies
around the world today. Many people do not realize what musical instruments have been responsible
for and how they have helped shape the world today. There have been many instruments that have
helped create and sculpt the world, but one instrument that I want to inform readers about is the
trumpet and where it came from, as well as how it has changed over many years. The point that I am
arguing is the fact that many people do not know where the trumpet has come from and how it has
affected society. The trumpet has been used for many years for many different uses that many folks do
not even know about or have even thought about. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is very unfortunate that the youth of the world today do not know how little things such as where the
trumpet came from has affected society and possibly the way they live there own life.
Today the trumpet is used for making music in many different kinds of musical situations. It is used in
musicals with other instruments for theme music as well as dance music. The modern day trumpet is
also used in marching bands, concert bands, as well as jazz bands. My favorite setting where the
trumpet is used is brass choir, where only two trumpets are used along with a trombone, tuba, and
French horn. There are so many venues that the trumpet is used that many do not think about, such as
rock bands and even country bands. When most people think of the trumpet, they think of marching
bands or concert bands, but in reality the trumpet has a much wider variety that it is used for in today s
world than many think. According to Edward Tarr in his book titled, The Trumpet, he explains that the
use of an instrument called a trumpa was used and was locally referred to as a tubae. As Richard was
pausing in Sicily before setting out for Palestine, a new kind of instrument the trumpa was
demonstrated to him. Roger of Wendover (d. 1236) wrote about tubae called the trumpae . This
instrument was mentioned for the first time around the year 1180 in

An Analysis and Comparison of Modern Tragedy in Drama
Aristotle thoroughly describes his understanding of the tragedy in the Poetics and bases this
conception on certain requirements. According to Aristotle the three most important variables that
define a tragedy are plot, characters, and theme. Using Oedipus Rex as a sort of ideal, this philosopher
demonstrates how a tragedy functions in order to evoke catharsis while exploring themes and human
flaws, or mistakes. In Oedipus Rex, the main figure, Oedipus the King is a subject of fate, unable to
escape himself and his desire to uncover the truth. In essence, this drama demonstrates the fall of a
prominent figure brought down by his inescapable fortune and self destruction. I definitely believe it
is difficult to find a modern day tragedy that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
case rests in the fact that Teddy murdered his wife, who suffered from mania, after she drowned his
two children. Once Teddy becomes aware of these truths his character, his status as a U.S. Martial,
evaporates as he contemplates his history and loss. Likewise, Oedipus search for the true murder of
Laius eventually reveals that he in fact murdered the former King. Once Oedipus becomes aware of
this fact his whole persona and world unravel as further truths become inherently evident. He must
face the reality that destiny drove the outcome of his life; and his inability to heed the advice of
Jocasta, his wife and mother, who pleads In God s name I beg you no.3 results in his fall from
greatness and virtue. These two stories therefore illustrate the climax in manners described by
Aristotle who argues, The middle, or climax, must be caused by earlier incidents and itself cause the
incidents that follow.4 Granted, this element seems characteristic of drama in general, the onset of
conflict eventually elicits the apex of action. However, the events that follow the climax allow tragedy
to separate from other sects of fiction. The dénouement of Shutter Island demonstrates the aspect of
unraveling, or even entropy, which Aristotle discusses. In this story, Teddy comes to his realization of
the truth, and as a result, decides to feign lunacy in order to receive a lobotomy. We initially view
Teddy Daniels as an imposing figure, a U.S.

  • 2. The Soviet Union Of Ukraine Essay Author s Note: This paper and/or essay has been written perceptive from the past, considering how things were perceived and accomplished in the early part of 2014 and into 2015. It does not take into account anything that the current administration might have done or not done, to alter the present outcome. Intro/Background Ukraine officially declared itself an independent state in 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, when the communist Supreme Soviet of Ukraine proclaimed that Ukraine would no longer follow the laws of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and only the laws of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republics. [1] More than two decades later, the sovereign nation still has trouble escaping Russia s threatening shadow. Ukraine s geographical position between Europe and Russia has left the country divided culturally and politically. After many recent months of protests and street demonstrations, the Ukrainian people were successful in ousting their incompetent and corrupt president, Vicktor Yanukovych. Russian President Vladimir Putin however, was unwilling to accept this and in February of 2014 Russian troops, aided by pro Russian local militia, occupied important sites across the Crimean Peninsula under the pretext of protecting Russian people. Now Crimea and possibly Eastern Ukraine is under Moscow s control and the Russian parliament has voted to annex the region into the Russian Federation. [2] This is nothing new for Russia, as was evidenced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Improvement Of Technology And Its Use Has Been The... Improvement of technology and its use has been the foundation for American economics. Although such innovation does create jobs, customs, and cultures that contribute to the American lifestyle, it can also create pollution that harms the environment and brings about environmental injustice. People focus on outcome effects of a certain project. Whether its main goal is for economic gains, to help improve the way American people live, or even if it is harming the ecosystem in any way, they will intervene. However, what people don t pay attention to is the tool that is being used to accomplish such goals that can produce complications as it relates to the environment and injustice that comes with the utilization of technology. This creates a selective exposure mentality in the sense that if the tool being used has been here before the person was born or even if the tool is used to support daily activities within the American household and lifestyle, then in no way should it be harmful to humans or the environment. There must be a different way in which American citizens can identify such potential dangers so that disaster can be avoided. One approach is to have professionals in the related field expose such technologies that people believe are helping them but instead are causing damage to the environment. As a previous low voltage linemen with seven years of experience, alongside my father who has been a low voltage linemen for twenty plus years, one tool that must be ... • 4. The Movie Blackfish Sparknotes The movie Blackfish is a documentary of the story of Tilikum, a captive killer whale that has taken several lives, exploits the issues amongst the sea park industry, and illustrates how little is known about these intelligent mammals. The experiences and treatment of the Orcas in Blackfish share commonalities with that of Blacks in America. The film touches on commonalities that can be generalized in comparison with slavery: family, captivity, sound and language, natural and captured behavior, separation. Through genes, captivity and the psychological and physical abuse of the whales in the movie Blackfish, one can determine and acknowledge that there is a correlation between the situation of African Americans today and the enslavement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whale is still in captivity and some of today s African Americans are still enslaved. We, as a people, are in a position today where we control very little and are slaves to white people for goods and services. Our educational system, which we do not control, does not prepare children for a future and it lacks very little education of our history as a people. We are segregated from white people and we are killing each other at an alarming rate. Our dollars do not go back into the community but to the Jordon s and Polo s of the world and neither company does anything for our people or community. Every large corporation from hair care products to BET has been sold to the white man for the almighty dollar. To have a sense of a future we must know our past of slavery and what was forced upon our ancestors 150 years of free labor with no education and no since of family. It seems we are back 150 years ago: no education and no since of family. Why can t we break the chains? Will we be like the whales, held captive by enslavement until we violently rebel, or are we already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dangerous Injuries Caused by Playing Baseball Essay According to a famous baseball coach, Baseball is not a contact sport, but contact with a ball, bat, or another player result s in the most serious injuries (Yenko). Jayne Yenko is correct, a point that needs emphasizing since so many people believe that injuries can happen anyway. there are three types of baseball players: Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what happens (Tommy Lasorda). Baseball has been my favorite sport all my life, therefore I would like to learn more about the injuries in baseball. I really enjoy playing ball and want to be more educated about the facts about injuries in baseball. Baseball is considered a, non contact sport, but contact with baseball equipment and other ... Symptoms associated with a UCL injury include the following: pain on the inside of the elbow, a sense of looseness or instability elbow, decreased ability to throw a baseball or other object. (Tommy). Rarely do UCL injuries interfere with non throwing activities, such as: activities of daily living, exercising, lifting weights, batting in baseball or running (Tommy). Some players are usually first treated with conservative (non surgical) therapies. These therapies include: rest, ice and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (Tommy). However, when rest and physical therapy are unsuccessful in treating shoulder pain or if an injury is discovered on MRI, surgical treatment may be needed (Baseball). Do you know that, each year nearly 6 out of 10 young pitchers hurt their elbow (Understanding). Do you understand that, some injuries can be career ending if severe enough, as joint replacement does not work well for athletes (Baseball). If you notice that you are starting to have trouble with your elbow and shoulder (Baseball Players). However, the ultimate goal of treatment for shoulder pain is to return the player to the field in a safe and timely manner, with a restored ability to throw with speed and accuracy. Initial treatment consists of resting the arm, thereby avoiding the activity that causes or increases the pain (Baseball Players). However, the University of North ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Agrarian Revolt Of The 1920 The Agrarian revolt of the 1920 to 1926 in Naranja occurred well before all other regions of Mexico could gather themselves and demand for such. It was a risky endeavor and it only succeeded because of the historic precedent that favor the Tarascans of Naranja. From their pre conquistador contact history to their post Diaz situation, the people of Naranja were pushed towards the front of the queue of people with grievances toward the Mexican government. Their experiences also built up their moral and courage to revolt despite the repercussions and the probability of backlash. Then finally, their leaders, especially Primo Tapia, were uniquely prepared to take up the mantle and lead them to victory. The people of Naranja, Michoacan were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people of Naranja were also nearly exclusively Indian (indigenous). There was even a common but unspoken animosity towards mestizos and people of Spanish descent and origin. Fredrich had mentioned that then and even now, there is the very occurrence of mixing of the Spanish and indigenous blood in these parts. Like mentioned before most were illiterate in Spanish and they were very set in their ways traditionally. The Spaniards had also ruled over the people indirectly via an already established royal hierarchy in the region in the form of a cacique. Hence the people had had little direct exposure to the Spanish (and later on Mexican) governing forces. The most influential outsider was without a doubt the local priest. All these accumulated and made the Tarascan people an isolated people that did not conform to societal expectations of submissiveness to authority or docility in the presence of oppressive government regimes. Then the economic and social impacts of the Spanish (or Mexican) government was also a great influencer in their decision to revolt at the time that they did. During the Diaz era, some brothers were granted land in the area, near the lake. This land was not given to these brothers with the consent of the people of Naranja, only their corrupt and incompetent leaders and Porfirio Diaz signed off on the deal. These businessmen developed a very successful grain hacienda on the land and they employed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1932, a study was set up, meant to observe the consequence of syphilis (Brandt, 2012). This was done despite the result of the Rosenwald Study in 1929. The Rosenwald Study found that mass treatment of the African American population in Macon County, the site of the Tuskegee Experiments, was possible (Brandt, 2012). Six hundred African American men participated in this study: 399 men with syphilis, serving as the test subjects; and 201 men without syphilis, serving as the controls. Instead of the biconcave disk shape, the red blood cells are long, stiff, rod like structures, making it easier for the cell to rupture. The cells also have difficulty moving through blood vessels and can cause clots (Tortora and Derrickson, 2014). As of now, the only cure for sickle cell anemia is a bone marrow or stem cell transplant, though there are various treatments that can ease the symptoms and prolong life (CDC, Jan 2016). Sickle cell anemia is very dangerous to have as the patient would experience blood loss and require blood transfusions, and they would also be exposed to infection (CDC, June 2016). The disease is inherited and is most commonly found in populations with ancestors from sub Saharan Africa, Spanish speaking regions, Saudi Arabia, India, and Mediterranean countries. In the United States, about 1 in 365 African American births have sickle cell disease (CDC, Feb 2016). In areas where malaria is prevalent, there is selective pressure for sickle cell trait (individuals who have one sickle cell gene and one normal gene, also called carriers). It is accepted that there are multiple mechanisms for how the sickle cell gene can block malarial infection (Gong et al., 2013; Bunn, 2013). A mechanism described in early studies proposed a model where P. falciparum is unable to grow and develop due to the oxidative stress placed on the red blood cell. In a sickle cell trait red blood cell, the cell would become sickled due to oxygen consumption from the parasite (Bunn, 2013). Other mechanisms include impairment of adhesion, and inhibition of transcription by host microRNAs (Bunn, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being the leader of the Germans and Nazis, he and his followers believed that Germans were racially superior to the Jews and thought they were to be punished. At first Jews were arrested and even killed for uncommitted crimes. In this film, he sets out a goal to prove that Mc Donald s is very bad for you. To prove that he eats a different meal from their menu three times a day for thirty days. He demonstrated techniques that made him very convincing to the audience. Some of the major techniques he used were the use of many facts/statistics, the audience trusting him, and interviewing people that are living with health issues from fast food. Instead of showing you the statistics on paper he did it himself and that right there is out of the ordinary. Risked his life to show his point and he sure did prove his point. Morgan used many facts and statistics throughout this film. A certain part of the documentary he shows the audience how affecting advertising is to children. The technique was very interesting because of instead of just telling the audience that advertising is very convincing to your children he showed them. He gathered together a couple of children and started asking them general questions that the average kid should know. He showed pictures of pretty important people and none of them knew who they were. Morgan Spurlock: What is this a picture of? Child: I don t know. George W. Bush? • 13. Swastika Significance The Swastika went from being a great symbol that was worshiped, to being a hated symbol on a flag that represented one of the worst things that has ever happened in history, mass genocide. The Swastika is best known as a symbol on the flag for the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazi) in Germany. The Nazis were a political group of people trying to take over the world and exterminate the Jews during WWII in 1933 1945. Adolf Hitler became their leader and led Germany to exterminate between 5 and 6 million Jews during that time.. Hitler adopted the Swastika because of its ancient Aryan origins. The history of the Swastika goes way back 11,000 years ago with the Hindus. The Swastika was actually not hated but cherished. It was a religious symbol that meant good fortune. The Huang He River, commonly referred to as the Yellow River is a riverine landscape that flows from the West of China to the East, through nine Northern Provinces. (Huang He Britannica, 2011) The rivers source (the Kunlun Mountains) are located at 36°N and 84°E and its mouth (the Bohai Sea) is located at 38.7°N and 119.9°E. Located in China, this river should be under the state of investigation by UNESCO due to the bad pollution the region is receiving. The area s climate is cool winters, with temperatures dropping below 0°, and short dry summers. Created by progressive erosion, the Huang He River Valleys give insights into Ancient Chinese Civilisations. The River is affectionately named The Cradle of Ancient Chinese Civilisation. • 17. Terry Moore How To Tie Your Shoes Rhetorical Devices Student Name Stille College Prep Writing: Rhetorical Analysis 15 Dec. 2017 Creative title only add quotation marks if it is not an original title Terry Moore presented a Technology, Education, Design (TED) Talk in May of 2011 entitled How to Tie Your Shoes. During which, he humorously explained the best way to tie one s shoes to a group of highly intelligent individuals. He displayed the age old ways of how to tie shoes, and shows why his way is the best. Moore tries to show everyone that the processes people do every day have the possibility to be improved. Moore does a fantastic job delivering information about a seemingly silly topic, tying one s shoes, through his own personal experiences and the informal words he used during his speech. Moore was able to legitimize the subject of his speech by admitting that he had also been tying his shoes wrong for the majority of his lifetime. In the speech Moore said, I know this sounds ludicrous. And believe me; I lived the same sad life until about three years ago. This shows that Moore, like the audience he is trying to reach, also did not know how to tie his shoes the correct way. Explaining that he did not know how to tie his shoes correctly, but now does, legitimizes himself as speaker on the subject. This allows him to be an appropriate presenter to such an elite group of people. This is helpful because trying to explain that these extremely intelligent people are performing an everyday task completely wrong is no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Charles Darwin, The Father Of Evolution Layden Butler Mrs.Warrem Bio I dual credit 14 December 2015 Evolution Charles Darwin, the father of evolution, wisely stated, It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. This statement directly reflects my opinion on the theory of evolution and that of Charles Darwin. Our species has evolved over time and adapted to the conditions that faced us. Charles Darwin, his background and discoveries, along with the evolution of human beings over time prove with great detail just how necessary and realistic evolution is. In most cases, the argument about evolution brings up one s religious values. However, the clear science behind the many theories of evolution outweighs and all religious arguments about this topic. Humans, and many other species, have distinct connections to the organisms of our past and will continue to change in order to for the future of our civilization. In addition to this, Stereochemistry allows us to know how a certain molecule will interact with an organism; anti nausea medications in the 1950 s that created devastating birth defects with flipper like appendages is just one example of the consequences of not following this man s research. In 1854, Pasteur was appointed professor of chemistry and dean of the science faculty at the University of Lille (Ullmann, Louis ). Whilst employed at Lille, he accepted a plea for studying solutions to problems associated to alcohol production at a local distillery, and with this catalyst, he began a series of studies on alcoholic fermentation. In 1857, while working with his research, Pasteur took a position with and was appointed manager and director of scientific studies at the cole Normale Supérieure (Ullmann, Louis ). Ralph Waldo Emerson . Although many might think that it is a waste of time and money, photography is a great hobby that people should try. However, even if someone has different opinions, they must consider that photography is steadily on its way to becoming a worldwide everyday use, and is already part of the American culture. Who has contributed to the making of the modern camera in earlier times? Later, in 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made what he called sun pictures by placing objects on a piece of leather treated with silver nitrate, which were the first photographs, although they faded and deteriorated if exposed to much light. In 1816, Nicéphore Niépce combined the photosensitive paper with the camera obscura, which after multiple tries and multiple years, created a permanent image on the paper. In 1834, Henry Fox Talbot created a permanent image using paper soaked in silver chloride and fixed with a salt solution, which was an image negative. Talbot could make a positive image by contact printing the image onto another sheet of paper . There were many advancements to the photosensitive paper, as it started to be explored by more and more scientists and other people. The research question the group asks is, Do supplemental software and technologies help English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language Learner (ELL) students in both short and long term ways? Our target population for this study is college students that are ELLs. Finding participants is one part of the study, but since we are researching students on a college campus they will have to be at least 18 to 30 years old to participate in the study. UMKC has a very large and diverse campus; we will reach out to the Applied Language Institute (ALI) students through a class survey. We decided that college would be a better population to start out with because it provides many social opportunities. We are looking for a population that will provide us with direct feedback from the trial. Students in college will know how they learn and be able to explain how technology either helped them or hurt them while learning. Having students participate on campus also ensures that they have access to internet and WiFi. We are aware that there are many limitations that face college students, but there are also benefits to choosing students in college. Sample The participants in the study range from 18 to 30 years old. We did not specify what year we are looking for in college. We just wanted to have adults participate. But, in May of 2011, one hundred percent of the senior class had been accepted to four year colleges/universities, many receiving full scholarships. (Novotney, 2011) This was the first all male public charter high school in the United States. The fact that this school was same sex education is the main factor that brought one hundred percent of these seniors success. In today s society, there is usually no distinction between same sex education and co education. However, there is a distinction. This distinction is that same sex education is more beneficial to students. Society today does not realise this, even though there are many factors that prove it. One main difference is that same sex schools are usually private schools while co education schools are usually public schools. Parents in society today differentiate the schools by if they would prefer to pay for the education (private same sex schools) versus not paying (co education public schools). However, there is a difference. This difference is the fact that same sex education schools are more beneficial for students. Hagar s acts of running away from Sara twice helps me perceive Hagar taking over the role of an oppressor from her former role of one being oppressed. They both use the same color scheme of red outlines, with red, blue, green and yellow decorations. The figures used on both pages are similar, crosses, birds, horses, fish, and felines. Also, the stylistic choice of putting figures inside circles was reoccurring. In the Frontispice, the image on the left, there is a decorative arch encasing a cross. According to Aristotle the three most important variables that define a tragedy are plot, characters, and theme. Using Oedipus Rex as a sort of ideal, this philosopher demonstrates how a tragedy functions in order to evoke catharsis while exploring themes and human flaws, or mistakes. In Oedipus Rex, the main figure, Oedipus the King is a subject of fate, unable to escape himself and his desire to uncover the truth. In essence, this drama demonstrates the fall of a prominent figure brought down by his inescapable fortune and self destruction.
