1. Scholarship Essay Format Example
Writing an essay on the topic "Scholarship Essay Format Example" can be quite challenging, as it
requires a delicate balance between showcasing your achievements, expressing your financial
need, and adhering to the specific format guidelines. Crafting a compelling narrative that
effectively communicates your unique qualities while adhering to the given word limit adds an
additional layer of complexity.
One of the difficulties lies in finding the right tone — striking a balance between humility and
confidence can be tricky. It's crucial to highlight your accomplishments without coming across
as boastful and to emphasize your financial need without sounding desperate. Moreover,
addressing the prompt and providing a coherent and well-structured essay within the specified
format adds another layer of challenge.
Formatting plays a crucial role in scholarship essays, and following the guidelines meticulously is
essential. This includes paying attention to details such as font size, margins, and spacing. The
pressure to make a strong impression within the confines of a structured format can be daunting,
as every word must contribute meaningfully to your narrative.
In addition to the technical aspects, conveying your passion and commitment in a way that
captivates the reader can be a daunting task. Striking the right emotional chord while
maintaining professionalism is an art that requires careful consideration of language and tone.
Despite these challenges, it's important to remember that a well-crafted scholarship essay can
open doors to educational opportunities. Taking the time to brainstorm, outline, write, and revise
multiple drafts is crucial to overcoming the difficulties associated with this type of essay.
In conclusion, composing a scholarship essay on the specified topic demands a combination of
self-reflection, effective communication, and adherence to strict formatting guidelines. While it
may be challenging, the potential reward of securing financial assistance for your education
makes the effort worthwhile.

Changing Native American Stereotypes in the Film, Dances with Wolves
The film Dances with Wolves, that was written by Michael Blake and directed by
Kevin Costner, helps to shift our perspective of Native Americans from one of
stereotypical distaste, to one of support and respect. According to an anonymous critic
on www.eFilmcritic.com This is one of the few westerns that devotes its time to
looking at the plight of the American Indians (particularly the Sioux), who were
thought by some as even more subhuman than blacks during the 1800 s (and even
during parts of the 1900 s). It has always been thought that Native Americans of old
were savage, non feeling, unemotional, cold blooded killers. It is difficult for people
to see them as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sees them as real people. As people that are just looking out for their families and
don t want to lose their heritage.
The Sioux are very perplexed by John. He comes to the army fort and he doesn t
seem to be afraid of them like everyone else is. They are not just going to go out
and kill him. He didn t do anything to harm or threaten their lifestyle, so why should
they bother him. They don t know how to react to him. Every time they make an
appearance to him, he seems friendly and acts like he wants to get to know them.
Now here is a prime instance of how the Sioux do not fit into the typical view of
Indians. The typical view is that Native Americans don t care about other people and
they just go around killing everyone for the fun of it. This is totally opposite of that.
In the film, the Sioux make numerous appearances to John without being threatening
at all. They just want to try and get to know him and see what he is there for.
According to people from our my English Composition class there are a lot of scenes
in Dances with Wolvesthat illustrate the view of Indians as brutal savages. Some
of these include: beating people on the head with a mace, shooting of dog, wagon
train remains, driver of the mule train killed, yanking captive lady off the horse, and
killing of peasant. These are just a few that can be interpreted as savage. There were
also views of when they came to think of the Indians as friends instead of
3. Life of Pi Essay
The Aura of Orange
Human, animal, plants, and all the Earth s content is survivor. They are fighting for
their rights in order to live in this beautiful world. The novel Life of Pi written by
Yann Martel, has employed a lot of symbols that is related to the life. One of the
most significant symbols is the color orange. The author uses orange as a symbol of
maintenance of the spirit to survive in survival. This can be proved as most of the
objects that are in the color orange in the novel generate feelings of hope, can
develop courage in survivors, and last but not least can keep them continuously
energetic; in order to strengthen their hearts and spirits to face all the possibilities in
life.

Although Orange Juice is just a weak animal that never haunt any animal and just
love to eat fruits, however, her courage overpowers her ability. As Pi monologue,
an adult female orang utan cannot defeat an adult male spotted hyena... What does
fruit eater know about killing? Where would it learn where to bite, how hard, for
how long? (Martel 130). This is something amazeing as the orang utan is very
brave to face the hyena. One of the reasons why Pi called the female orang utan as
Orange Juice is because the orange animals do represent the courage in an animal.
On top of that, Richard Parker the Bengal tiger also represent courage in an orange
animal as he is being scared by the hyena. The flame colored carnivore emerged
from beneath the tarpaulin and made for the hyena. The hyena was leaning against
the stern bench, behind the zebra s carcass, transfixed. It did not pull a fight.
Instead it shrank to the floor, lifting a forepaw in a futile gesture of defense, shows
that the hyena was afraid of the orange Bengal tiger that look fierce on him (Martel
150). This is how the Bengal tiger stay to survive in the lifeboat on the spooky
ocean. Therefore, it is true that orange is the color of courage; and this can spread up
the spirit of survival to promote the important of life.
In order to maintain the spirit of survival, energy is very important both physically
and emotionally,
4. Dna Polymerase Synthesis
There has been an abundant amount of enzymes that replicate a bulk of DNA,
which has been discovered in past years. Many enzymes correlate with DNA to
assist them in translating, replicating and transcribing the enzymes in our body
(Pierce, 2013). More specifically, an enzyme that is involved in DNA replication is
DNApolymerase. One of the main functions for DNA polymerase is to allow the
synthesis of damage, that the past DNA caused, which blocks replication fork
progression. DNA polymerase can cause a complication and/or mistake, which is
caused by a genetic mutation that occurs before the transcription and replication
process of the DNA. One of the mutations, POLG has been directly involved in
making DNA polymerase gamma in mitochondria,... Show more content on

help determine the abnormalities in the type of DNA that is resulted from the
mitochondrial DNA trait. Another way is by using genetherapy with individuals for
treatment to see if the injection of the DNA into the cell will have the resulted goal

There is poverty and crime surrounding the area and this makes it hard on everyone
to be, and feel secure in their own environment. Throughout the book Jolly s and

Before the book takes place both Jolly and LaVaughn had a different environment
growing up. Their environment shaped them to be the people we met in the

from when she was little with her mom. In this memory when LaVaughn asked her
mom if she could go to college her mom said, Nobody in this building... ever went

moment on LaVaughn s main priority was to get good grades so that she could get

hard for good grades. This moment and the impact of this moment shaped who

The Psychological Social Consequences War, Terrorism Disasters: The Civilian
Military Population Introduction The objective of this brief study is to examine
the psychological and social consequences of war, acts of terrorism and disasters
upon the civilian and military population as well as the treatment options available
for military members and their family members. The work of Matthewson (nd)
states that it is not the battlefield upon which the attacks take place, but rather, it is
in the mind the psychology of those who survive. (p.192) Matthewson additionally
states that disasters both natural and human made, can elicit fear, anger and worry
in victims, their family and friends and could lead to psychological symptoms of
anxiety and depression. (p.192) I. Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) The
Mayo Clinic describes Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) as a mental health
condition that is triggered by a terrifying event. Symptoms may include flashbacks,
nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
(2012, p.1) Individuals who experience trauma are reported to have difficulty
adjusting and coping for awhile. (Mayo Clinic, 2012, p.1) In many such instances
the symptoms get better after time however, in more severe cases the symptoms do
not go away but instead the symptoms worsen lasting for a long time and this is

clothes, and old technology . Sitting at a lunch table one might want to talk and
enjoy their time with friends in the small break of the day. But they could be sitting

8. Catholics In The Elizabethan Era
Catholics in the Elizabethan Era The Elizabethan Era took place in the years 1558 to
1603 and was marked in history as The Golden Age . It took place during the
beginning of the Renaissance, and sparked a growth in the areas of art, music and
literature. Despite all of the wonderful things that may have come from this time
period, the Elizabethan Era was a time of imprisonment, torture and prejudice for
English Catholics. The main religions of the time were Protestant and Catholic,
which are both denominations of Christianity. Both Catholics and Protestants have
very strong belief system, which meant that when exposed to the corruption of the
reign of Queen Elizabeth, there was often violence and tension between the two
groups. Catholics believe that Priests are the link between God and the people, and
the popewas ordained by God. Priests in the Catholic Churchwere believed to be
special, and were expected to devote their lives to God. The Priests wore elaborate
robes and the church was often elaborately decorated, as they believed that
churches were a way to celebrate God. Protestants believe that people can find God
without a priest or pope, and that priests were ordinary people who should live
ordinary lives. They believed that since the Church was a place to concentrate on
God, it should be plain, allowing people to concentrate on the sermons. Queen Mary
I ruled before Queen Elizabeth and was her half sister. Mary was adamant to restore
England back to Catholicism
9. Spanish Dish
My close high school friend and I enjoy visiting restaurants of our different
cultures, as she is Spanish and I am Korean. On our usual food adventures, we like
to recommend particular meals from our own culture to each other, as a way of
trying something new. However, this time, we decided instead of going to a
Spanish restaurant, my friend would teach me personally how to make a Spanish
dish. We ultimately decided to make a dish called paella, which incorporated rice,
chorizo, chicken, and shrimp. While shopping for the ingredients, the topic of
freshness arose. Although everything was going to be tossed into a skillet, my
friend and I were very attentive to looking for fresh bell peppers, specifically by the
distinction of their colors. Similarly, For safety, Americans... Show more content on

The factor of freshness plays a major role when creating a meal. When I initially
searched up images of the dish, I had thought the dish would be complicated to
make and time consuming. During the actual process though, it was very simple
to make because all the ingredients are combined into one large skillet. Other than
the previous preparation of marinating the chicken with spices, the recipe was easy
to make with simple steps of stirring, boiling, and simmering. The big open dish
reminded me about the topic of convenience, as it encompassed variables such as
price, availability, and ease of preparation, which are all related to the requirements
of energy, time, labor, and skill (Belasco 9). Along with this convenience, the dish is
designed to bring people together, as everyone can easily share their servings from
the large skillet. We simply had one big spoon in the skillet, and everyone eating
would adjust their serving

structures, text functions, text types and relevant rhetorical strategies going to
determine the genre and purpose of the text Towards a better and cleaner textile
industry , which was posted on Novozymes website on March 30, 2011. Appeal
Forms The text consists of a number of logical arguments that promote the use of
enzymes in the textile industry, which means the dominating appeal form is logos.

enzymes and molecule and the reference to the special trial method; LCA (l. 18 23).

17 38) and at last the peroration (l. 40 45). This is supported by the common
known subject i.e. that Novozymes produces enzymes and the use of both logos and
ethos appeal. In addition, the move structure more specifically follows the news
report move structure as it uses the inverted pyramid, where the most important
information is in the beginning. The moves are: Event (l. 1 3), then interpretation
(l.4 8) followed by background (l. 10 15), details of the event (l. 17 23), background
(25 42) and at last comments from people involved (l. 42 43). As the text comes from
Novozymes, it would though be characterized as a press release which often bears
resemblance to the news report move structure. Though as mentioned in the
paragraph about appeal forms, the use of ethos indicates that the text is not only made
for an informative purpose. Text Functions At first sight, the function of the text is
the informative text function, as it seeks to express something about the referent.
This is supported by the dominant use of logos appeal, representative speech acts and
the move structure being press release. Though, as the commissive speech act and
indirect directive speech acts are also present, there is evidence that the text also has
an indirect directive text function as it tries to affect the receiver to use enzymes. In
combination with the use of ethos, this indicates that the text has a character of
argumentation. Text Types As stated above
11. Resistance Training Program
Discussion #2
The importance of the endocrine system when designing a resistance training
program:
The endocrine system releases hormones to help the body regulate and stabilize
internally. When designing a resistance training program, it is important to look at
the predicted outcome (for example: muscle growth) and see what hormones are
linked to that predicted outcome. The goal is to get the best hormonal response from
areas that will help guide you to the intended outcome of the program. If I was
designing a program for strength and muscle growth (using the knowledge I have of
the endocrine system), I know that human growth hormone and testosterone are the
hormones that will play a large role there. Since testosterone directly interacts

to make people recognize that brand and how to break into the market. However,

2.3.2 Synthesis of 2D TMDs In general, there are two major classifications for

this paper. Top down methods fabrications Thin flakes of TMDs can be peeled off
from bulk materials using adhesive tape, applied to the substrates and then identified
by light interference using similar techniques used to develop graphene. Fig 6c

Chemical vapor deposition(CVD) on metal substrates enables large scale
development of TMDs for device fabrication. Reported CVD methods for growing
thin film MoS2 involves heating to high temperature Sulphur powder and MoS2

layer is dependent on the concentration of the MoS2 layer. Some other reported
methods for making TMDs include using molybdic acid or tungstic acid with

applications is the presence of a bandgap which is needed for a high in/off ratio as
well as absence of dangling bonds, flexibility and high carrier mobility. The
earliest application of TMDs for FETs dates back to 2004 and this showed mobility
comparable to conventional silicon based FETs (500cm2v 1s 1 at room
temperature). A while after, FETs based on MoS2 were fabricated and they had
similar mobility values and excellent on/off

Marquez depicts this issue in the novel when Bayardo San Roman arrived in Sucre
looking to court Angela. He was a mystery to the community, no one knew where
he came from or why he was there but he was still respected because he was
financially affluent and had access to endless resources (Marquez 27). When
Angela told her mother that she did not want to marry Bayardo because she did

after marriage Bayardo brutally beat Angela for not being a virgin then dragged
her back to her house and returned her to her mother. He was never confronted for
his actions, instead Angela was beaten by her mother for hers. This event
illustrates how important reputation was in the novel, Marquez describes it as

Vonnegut s Nihilistic Views Exposed in Cat s Cradle
If humans strive to fulfill their void, of a lack of meaning in their lives, their folly
will blind them from the truth. Kurt Vonnegut portrays his inner emotions and
feelings of the insignificance of religion through the characters of his novel, Cat s
Cradle. His satiric approach to a subject that many people base their daily existence
upon, challenges the readers faith. As people search for a deeper meaning in their
lives, the more confused they become. Only to become entwined in the Cat s Cradle

I wanted all things To seem to make some sense, So we all could be happy, yes,
Instead of tense. And I made up lies So that they all fit nice, And I made this sad

Bokonon explains his reasons for creating the lies on which his religion is founded;
he makes the peoples lives more wholesome. People have always searched for
meaning, meaning that science has not been able to provide them with.
So the people therefore turn to higher forms of meaning,
i.e. religion; despite the fact that it s constructed to give meaning when no such
meaning exists. Bokonon s reason why man searched for meaning in life is as
follows: And God created every living creature that now moveth, and one was man.
Mud as man alone could speak. God leaned close as mud as man sat up, looked
around, and spoke. Man blinked. What is the purpose of all this? he asked politely.
Everything must have a purpose? asked God. Certainly, said man. Then I leave you
to think of one for all this, said God, and he went away (265). The oblivious
correlation between this story, of how humans were created, and the story of Adam
and Eve, from the bible, is a religious satire. Vonnegutuses this to prove

It is often thought that the reality that is being expressed in spoken word is the very
same as the reality which is being perceived in thought. Perception and expression are
frequently understood to be synonymous and it is assumed that our speech is mostly
based on our thoughts. This idea presumes that what one says is dependent of how it
is encoded and decoded in the mind. (Badhesha, 2002) In any case, there are

For instance, in weak determinism language does not define or does not impact one s
view of the world, whereas, in strong determinism this view is defined strongly by
language. Linguistic determinism is the idea that language and its structures limit
and determine human knowledge or thought, as well as thought processes such as
categorization, memory, and perception. The possibility of linguistic determinism has
been explored by a variety of authors, mostly in science fiction. There exist some
languages, like Ithkuil and Toki Pona for instance, which have been constructed for
the purpose of testing the assumption. However, no formal tests appear to have been
21. American Indian Behavioral Health Assessment Instruments
American Indian Behavioral Health Assessment Instruments Dee Manatowa
University of New England Abstract Mental and behavioral health agencies who
service American Indians should employ a culturally relevant approach. Cultural
specificity is essential for understanding beliefs, values, and first language colloquial
speech. Cultural specific assessment information can enhance our understanding of
the client s symptoms and the need for other appropriate evaluation techniques. Client
assessment practice within Indian Health Services (IHS) supports multi culturalism,
cultural competence, and sets the precedence for Tribal agencies to follow. Most
Tribal Health agencies do follow IHS guidelines. However, most of those... Show

22. Literary Techniques In Beowulf
Beowulf Essay Beowulf a New Telling by Robert Nye is a great book that everyone
could learn something from, for instance, he shows how characters grow wiser
throughout the story and he shows how displaying good qualities can help you
overcome challenges in life. Beowulf in this story overcomes many different vile
creatures of the fen and the only way he can defeat them is because he knows that
he is not perfect, but he does try his best and in realizing/admitting his shortcomings
or flaws they become his strengths. The main reasons I feel like this was an excellent
book because the author, Robert Nye had certain techniques that he used to make the
book seem more real the way he displayed and emphasized the theme throughout the
book. For
23. African American Civil Rights Movement
Following World War I, a new, militant spirit of resistance and activism burgeoned
among African American citizens across the United States. Empowered by the sense
that blacks had played a crucial role in the conflict, the descendants of freedmen
returned home to fight for their own rights only to find persecution; this dire situation
called for immediate, decisive action. During the interwar years, African Americans in
the southwest Georgia Black Belt fought for community empowerment and, through
the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the
Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), and numerous other political and
labor oriented groups, established a significant organizing tradition, thereby laying the

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had led the community in mass demonstrations the
previous year. Indeed, almost every historian who has dealt with the southwest
Georgia movement has made a similar assertion. However, such a notion could not be
farther from the truth. The organizing tradition amongst oppressed African
Americans involved a sustained working class struggle over several decades that was
both tenacious and politically heterogeneous. In order to more fully understand the
agendas and motivations for this political activity in southwest Georgia, one must
first have some clue as to the nature and scope of their economic options. In 1935,
noted statistician Charles E. Hall, under the supervision of Z.R. Pettet of the United
States Bureau of the Census, published an exhaustive study of the social and
economic characteristics of African America entitled Negroes in the United States.
Based upon information gathered by the Census Bureau, the work provides
invaluable insight into the lives and movements of black Americans in the early part
of the century. One crucial inference that may be drawn from Hall s compilation is
the overwhelmingly rural composition of the African American population in
southwest Georgia counties as late as 1930. For the purposes of the study, Hall
employed the terms urban and rural in accordance with the meanings assigned
24. Dualism of Human Nature Essay
The Dualism of Human Nature and Its Social Conditions Emile Durkheim
According to Durkheim s work The Dualism of Human Nature and Its Social
Conditions (DHN), a man has a dual nature which is made up of the body
(individual) and the soul (social). He sheds light on this by citing post Durkheim
theories which he does not agree with and which do not solve the problem of this
dual nature. Durkheim also uses The Elementary Forms of the Religious Life
(EFRL) to discuss the religious aspect of the body and soul. Upon reading, it is
discovered that as society evolves, so does this dual nature. In DHN, Durkheim
argues that sociology must examine what an individual consists of because it is a
result of the whole society. It is this society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There were also 2 other theories that attempted to explain this dualism of human
nature : (1) The Ontological Explanation by Plato man s inward struggle consists of
being good and being unethical. Plato says that because we are part of both, we are
necessarily in conflict with ourselves. (p.4) And a theory by Kant (2) Sensitivity and
Reason we have an ability to think individually or collectively. Durkheim feels that
these 2 theories only re state the problem it does not resolve it. They also assume
that man s nature is above explanation, but we should be able to explain it.
Again, in EFRL, Durkheim shows religiosity from a sociological standpoint in
which individual consciousness is combined with common consciousness. To look
at it another way, individuals use signs and symbols to interpret and/or explain their
feelings. If the group all uses the same signs and symbols, it then becomes the
symbol or representation of the group s sacredness. Even if the individual is no
longer part of the collective society, he still holds the sacredness of the signs
/symbols to the same high standard, and he does this by way of festivals, ceremonies,
etc.
Also in DHN, Durkheim

It contributes to my investigation of how democracy came into South Africa as it
shows the willingness of FW De Klerk to work with the African National Congress as
it says that he lifted the ban on the ANC. This source is useful as it gives an
overview of what had happened during the time period and gives an objective and
balanced account, the writer has also used a variety of primary sources to put this
source together. This source however, does have limitations as it may be one sided
and only reflect the point of view of the writer. This source is also valid as it comes
from a history website. It is reliable when studied with other sources but is not
reliable on its own.
Source J was written by Matthew James Graham. The author of the source also has a
degree of Phd in History. The source contributes to my investigation as it discusses
the unbanning of the ANC, which shows the willingness of FW De Klerk to work
with them. It also discusses the willingness of De Klerk to negotiate with the ANC to
end Apartheid.
26. Once And Future King Interview Questions
For the last interview, I thought I would keep the questions short and sweet. I asked
a series of ten questions, five in which are simple yes and no questions. The first
question referred back to unit eleven and is actually the first question asked about
The Once and Future King. The question I asked was what traits and/or
characteristics do you posses that are important for the exercise of leadership? This
question caught my eye because as a leader it is good to ask yourself evaluating
question such as this one to continue developing as a leader. Peggy answered by
saying, Most important characteristics are motivationand persistence. Keeping staff
motivated by remaining positive to me is key. The next question is also based off of
the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I explained the difference of each one and simply asked, which style fits her the
best. Peggy said she believes she falls into both categories. She works with
individuals to ensure a common ground for working in a group. Peggy also
believes that a working supervisor is the best supervisor. I find this interesting
because it goes back to the X/Y leadership style and the fact that she is balanced
transactional and transformational leader. I stressed in previous papers that a
good leader is a balanced individual and Peggy seems to agree on the idea as well.
To formulate the next question, I turned to a page in the book, in which, there
were several questions. These questions are associated with measuring social
intelligence. The test is called the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory.
Because there were over fourteen questions, I decided to only ask about ones I
was most curious about. Because she said yes to all of the questions presented in
the interview, I m going to list each one I asked: Do you understand what motivates
other people, even those from different backgrounds? , Do you listen attentively
and think about how others feel? , Do you persuade others by engaging them in
discussion and appealing to their self interest? , Do you appreciate the culture and
values of the group or organization? , and Do you lead by bringing out the best in
people? Her answer points out that she is, in fact, socially intelligent, which I
predicted her to be because she deals with different people in different situations all
the time. I do predict that the average social intelligence in America fluctuates
because of social issues through the years. I also predict that leaders at that time did
not have fluctuating results because being tolerant is part of being a good

powers. Some shoot jets of water strong enough to punch through steel, others can
fly faster than any aircraft, and a select few can even warp the fabric of time and

Pokemon was created in the 1990s, by a Japanese gamedesigner named Satoshi

exploded soon after its inception, selling hundreds of thousands of copies around the
world, inspiring an anime series that continues to this day, and capturing the minds
of millions of young children. The original release of Pokemon featured a single

Six basic stats dictate a Pokemon s strength. They are: HP, Attack, Defense,
Special Attack, Special Defence, and Speed. HP measures a Pokemon s
endurance, its ability to take hits and keep fighting. Attack is a barometer for a
Pokemon s physical strength. Defense quantifies resistance to physical attacks.
The higher a Pokemon s Defense, the less HP it will lose from a physical attack.

28. Adolf Hitler And The Holocaust
Adolf Hitler, chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and fГјhrer of Nazi Germany
from 1934 to 1945, was the mastermind behind both World War II within Europe and
the Holocaust. In the Final Solution, concentration and extermination camps were
implemented in an attempt to rid of the Jewish population entirely. Such a task,
genocide, would not be done easily. By the end of World War II, over six million
Jews had been killed. However, not merely Jews were subject to mass murder, but
nearly five million non Jewish people. Out of all of these deaths, a range from
1,885,889 to 2,045,215 were in the concentration camp system. Furthermore,
approximately one million of these deaths were carried out within the Auschwitz
concentration campcomplex. Thus, one in every six Jews killed during the holocaust
was killed at an Auschwitz camp. These extermination camps were the only means by
which such a multitude of murder could have been efficiently accomplished. The
systematic mechanization of mass murder, using gas chambers and crematoria, made
such high death tolls fathomable, making efficient killing easier both physically and
psychologically.
The concentration camp system was established well before World War II and the
Final Solution. The camps had commonly been constructed in desolate places, free
from German jurisdiction. Thus, allowing murder in both large and small amounts to
be carried out surreptitiously. Some, if not most, of these murders being cursorily

29. The Magna And Rousseau Theory Of The Social Contract
Magna Carta vs Rousseau
The Magna Carta and Rousseau theory of the social contract are both different and
similar in many ways. The Magna Carta protects a certain group of people. And the
Rousseau theory of the social contract is to protect everyone. But they also have a lot
of similarities such as the fact that they both put restrains on the government.
Magna Carta
The Magna Carta is a series of documents that represent an important step in the
progression of governance in western civilization. The foundation of the Magna
Carta was that everybody including the king was subjected to the law. This
document defined and limited the federal rights of the monarch. In spite of what
the Magna Carta outlooks today, this document was not written with proud ideas
of justice and liberty in mind. It was initially meant as a peace treaty between king
john and his barons, with whom he was at war with. The barons had seized
London and john found himself in a political jumble, he need a swift way out
solution. The document only covers the nobility, connected, the land owners. So
blacks, kids, women, and the poor was not covered by the Magna Carta. The Magna
Carta never accomplish its goal of producing peace. In datum it failed dramatically.
Granting john agreed to the Magna Carta at first, he swiftly became acrimonious
when his terms were enforced upon him. He transcribed a letter to the pope to get it
null and void. The pope essentially happened to come to an agreement with john, by

This assignment will focus on; the NHS organisational cultures and theories,
leadership cultures and theories, leadership styles, the effect leadership cultures have
upon organisational cultures and will address the requirements for modernisation of
the ambulance service. All of which will be supported by relevant literature and
research.
Since 1930 authors have focused on organizational culture as a system of socially
transmitted behaviour patterns that serve to relate human communities to their
ecological settings (Keesing, 1974). This has been reflected in the work of many
ethnographers and psychologists, such as Whyte (1949), Rohlen (1974), Schein
(1985 1990) and Hofstede (1980, 1991).

In 1972 Rogger Harrison researched into Organizational Cultures and Structures
which was later supported and publicised by Charles Handy (1985), it suggested that
there are four dimensions of cultures through which organisations exist. They are;
power , role , task and people culture . Organisations can be associated with one or
more of the different cultures. Many organisations can be identified as having a
different organisational culture at each hierarchical interval.
Power culture (Handy, 1985) is described as a similar infrastructure to that of a
spider s web, where the boss is in the centre of an ever widening web of others
involved in the organisation. Role culture (Handy, 1985) is best explained as an
image of a pyramid of boxes, each box containing a job title and role. The boxes
still stand and the structure remains secure, even if one of the individuals fulfilling
a role departs. Role cultures are best operated by a manager at the top of the
pyramid, as suggested by Ronald White (1988). Role cultures operate best in large
organisations where roles are clearly defined, evaluation of their progress is
continually assessed and feedback is given. Task culture (Handy, 1985) is
predominantly used in a field where team work is of paramount importance to ensure
a task is completed. People culture

Introduction
It is important to develop a philosophy of teaching and learning. Our philosophy
drives our passion for teaching, influences our teaching styles, sets our core values,
provides strength during challenges and constantly reminds us the importances of self
development and learning.
My philosophy is based upon my life experience, cultural values, interpersonal
relationships, interest, studies and education background. I believe the core values of
my philosophy will not change, however, refined and adjusted to meet my goals. I
believe learning is an ongoing progress and children are precious and unique

For this reason, it is important to deliver a learning environment where children s
development and learning is supported. It is apparent that all students can learn and
teachers need to provide students with a variety of learning opportunities for effective
learning, for example, using diversified resources rather than focusing on worksheets
and making use of multiple intelligences and multi sensory experiences to facilitate
the different potential of students (Duchesne, McMaugh, Bochner Krause, 2013,
chapter 1).
Teaching/Pedagogy
My list of goals as an early childhood teacher are:
1.to feel excited to go to work every day, and to providing an environment for
children where children want to learn and go to school
2.to build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and the community,
so that we can work cooperatively to learn, grow and support
3.to encourage children to be independent, but also not to be afraid to ask for help
and have a lifelong passion for creativity, innovation and learning.
4.to create resources that are practical, functional and visually appealing
5.to plan a well balance routine, that includes a time to rest, eat and play and a
learning environment that is safe and accessible for all children.

35. Animal Pollution
The environment which we live in is polluted every single day. The carelessness of
humans today is further damaging the ecosystem in some ways, more identifiable
than others. Factory farming is a system of rearing livestock using intensive methods,
by which poultry pigs, or cattle are confined indoors under strictly controlled
conditions (Merriam webster). The animals are forced into the participation of the
supply and demand through cities and towns. Many may be oblivious to the fact that
the animalindustry is a leading factor of pollution. The global movement of intense
meat production is negatively affecting climate changes, ocean pollution and the
animal food chain.
The process of meat production is causing the earth s climate to unnaturally change.
Factory farms use a variety of toxic chemicals to feed, grow and execute the animals.
One of the chemicals used on factory farms is Carbon Dioxide. Burning fossil fuel
(oil and gasoline) releases a considerable amount of carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are
hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel, oil or natural gas, formed from the remains of
dead plants and animals. It takes, on average 11 times as much fossil fuel to
produce a calorie of animal protein as it does to produce a calorie of grain protein. In
the end, more carbon dioxide is released during the production of meat rather than the
manufacturing of vegetables and plants (Peta, p.1) Another toxic chemical that is
often released into the atmosphere because of factory

38. The Rwandan Genocide Of 1994 Effect The Hutu And Tutsi
Plan of Investigation
This investigation will seek to answer the question How Did the Rwandan
Genocide of 1994 Effect the Hutu and Tutsi? I chose this question because last
year I read the book Left to Tell and I wanted to know more about the two different
types of groups, the Hutus and the Tutsis. This was and still is an important topic
because many died that day just for belonging to a specific group. This topic shows
how much our world has changed since 1994. In order to answer my historical
investigation question, I have structured my analysis section using the following
method. First, I will answer how the two groups are different? And how these
differences began the Rwandan Genocide? Next, I will talk about a survivor and her
experience, then, the survival rate of Hutus and Tutsis. There are two main sources
this paper will cover, first, a website called the United Human Rights Council, then, a
book called Left to Tell.
Summary of Evidence
Tutsis, were taller, lighter skinned, and had narrower noses. While Hutus were
shorter, darker skinned, and had broad noses. They were almost the same but Tutsis
had superiority. The Skull measurements showing larger brain size, greater height,
and lighter skin tones all reaffirmed the Tutsis superiority over the Hutus (History).

Aside from the techniques, skills, and rules I have learned from my experiences, I
have also learned how to handle the emotional side of healthcare. Being in a
hospital can be a very sad place. In essence, it is a place where society s sick go for
help. After witnessing various traumatic experiences, I have been able to see these
people get their lives back and overcome the illnesses. It is these stories that light
my fire to continue the path in the healthcare field. I believe I did very well in the
mock interview because I was able to get across my passion for healthcare to my
interviewer. From the project, I volunteered at three difference hospitals and
eventually was accepted into a medical program at a fourth hospital. One thing to
take away from my project is to just appreciate your good health. Most people at
school take for granted their healthy bodies, but every week I am surrounded by
patients who are fighting for their lives. It has actually inspired me to live a more
active and healthy lifestyle. The experiences from the graduation project will help
lead to a very successful nursing
40. God Is Omnipotent And Can Not Make Evil Good
1.If God is omnipotent, then God will be able to make evil good. Do you agree with
this statement? Give reasons for your answer.
My opinion to this statement does not come immediately. For this reason I plan to
briefly investigate the arguments for four main sub premises that either support or
reject the statement If God is omnipotent, then God will be able to make evil good .
These premise s are:
(A) God is not omnipotent and cannot make evil good
(B) God is omnipotent, but cannot make evil good
(i) God is omnipotent and chooses not to make evil good
(C) God is omnipotent and can make evil good.
Arguments that support Premise (i) deny statement A of any truth. If reasoning
behind statement (i) provide sufficient evidence to support premise (i) then I will be
disagree with statement A.
Arguments for Premise (ii and iii) ascribe partial truth to statement A but distinguish
between God s ability to possess the potential to make evil good v.s. God possessing
this ability and wanting to make evil good. This distinction supports premise A in
similar ways for both premise (ii and iii) raise a paradoxical puzzle into what
disposition God takes as one who is supposedly omnipotent, omnibenevolent and
omnipresent.
Reasoning for premise (iv) defends theism and the traditional form God is ascribed to
have.
The reason I have separated Statement Z into four sub premises is because how
these four sub premises are defended and countered works to serve the validity of
41. 20th Century Modern Art In America
What is This Place? In 2016, Black Mountain College was recognized in two major
exhibits as the creative genesis of art in America. Curator Helen Molesworth s show,
Art of Our Time at Los Angeles MOCA museum re contextualizes the story of 20th
century modern art in America, re framing the common idea that it began in New
York City. The Hammer Museum s Leap Before You Look , developed first at the
ICA in Boston and then taken to Los Angeles, reflects the sheer scale and relevance
of art, performance, literature and music developed at BMC during 1933 to 1957.
Molesworth explains, This historical story that we tell, it begins with this idea that
New York stole the art world after World War II, and that there s a certain kind of

43. Using Signing Statements
Ramification of Using Signing Statements
According to Strauss (2006), the presidential signing statements have come out of
obscurity and into the headlines. Along with salutary attention to an interesting issue,
the new public visibility of signing statements have generated much overblown
commentary. The desire to make these little known documents interesting to the
public and to score points in the inevitable political battles over any practice engaged
in by a sitting President has produced a lot of discussion that misleads the public.
Signing statements constitute a striking official power that has recently caught
insightful and political consideration. Earlier writing recommends that presidents
utilization signing statements to increase extra strategy concessions from Congress.
Confirmation of approach inspirations are, nonetheless, hard to exhibit and
arrangement thought processes neglect to clarify a wide range of existing statements.
Evans (2007) infers that the affluent antiquity of the U.S. presidency is confused with
illustrations of presidents endeavoring to practice their influence through this
apparatus. The initially archived utilization of the signing statement is when
President Monroe issued an announcement to ensure his presidential privilege. Be
that as it may, the instrument did not turn into a generally utilized vital weapon until
the Reagan organization had the capacity to get it included into the administrative
history (Kelley 2007). Kelley
44. The Pros And Cons Of Kyoto Protocol
Global warming influences every country in the world adversely. In order to relieve
this issue, in 1997, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCC) formulated and enacted Kyoto Protocol in Japan. At the beginning, more
than 150 countries joined the conference. After that, other countries ratified Kyoto
Protocolin succession. Until now, there are about 192 countries have already ratified
the protocol. The United States, however, chose to drop out in 2001 after becoming
one of the participants for four years. (Cable News Network Library, 2017)
Drawbacks of Kyoto Protocol and negative impacts on the economy are two main
reasons why the United States dropped out.
Kyoto Protocol is an agreement that forces all the signatory countries to make great
efforts to relieve global warming. It is widely accepted that greenhouse gases are
able to heat earth since they can prevent heat from escaping from the atmosphere, a
reasonable amount of greenhouse gases is needed to keep the earth warm at a
constant and comfortable level, but the overabundance of those gases can influence
earth adversely and thus increase the temperature beyond desirable level. Kyoto
Protocol is aimed at solving this kind of problem. Therefore, we can say that Kyoto
Protocol is an international treaty among industrialized nations that sets mandatory
limits on greenhouse gas emissions. (Rouse, M., 2013) The countries who ratified the
protocol will be a member of the United Nations Framework
45. Babies Pacifiers
Babies can get fussy, especially in their younger years. Fortunately for parents, the
pacifiers can well, pacify them. However, despite this very good perk, it seems that
not everyone agrees on the benefits of getting one for their little tyke. Here are three
things to keep in mind why it s completely okay to make use of these quirky little
inventions:
1) Pacifiers may reduce the use of SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndromes, as the
periodic movement of your baby s mouth while sucking keeps him in a lighter state
of sleep, so there is less of a chance that he will stop breathing, says Parents advisor
Jennifer Shu.

A study from the Oregon Health Science University in Portland found that the
percentage of babies who exclusively breastfed dropped after pacifiers were dropped
from the Mother Baby unit, and mothers ended up supplementing them with formula.
As lactation consultant Freda Rosenfeld noted, there is nothing wrong with a
newborn using a pacifier as long as the baby is gaining weight and as long as it has
been fed.

3) Pacifiers can t cause dental problems. A child s mouth is malleable enough so
that whatever changes a pacifier can cause, can still be corrected. For most, there is
no harm in the first two years. However, take note that a child should use the paci
less and less as they get older. For instance, children who use the pacifier into
toddlerhood can lead to malocclusion, where their teeth don t align properly.

46. Thesis Statement For William The Conqueror
Outline
Introduction to My Topic William the Conqueror
William the Conqueror or known as William the Bastard to his enemies, played a
huge role in developing England into the country that it is today. (1)
It is important to know the history behind how countries became so powerful.
Thesis statement Without the help of William the Conqueror, England would not be
as powerful a country as it is today. (1)
II. Early life A. Childhood 1. When William was a little boy, he was constantly in
danger since he was on the line to become the next king. His guards had to smuggle
him to other castles at night to escape people trying to kill him. They had to stay
the night in poor people s homes to ensure that William would be safe. Throughout
his childhood, three of William s guards were murdered along with his tutor.
Somehow, his mother always ensured that little William would be safe. The battles
that William fought as a child only made him stronger for the battles he would fight
later on in his life. (4) 2. When William was only eight years old he became the
Duke of Normandy. (1) 3. William was called William the Bastard because he was
illegitimate and illiterate, but he was still the Duke of Normandy. Since he was his
father s only son, he was the heir. (1) B. Teen years 1. William was knighted when
he was fifteen years old. (2) 2. His fellow councilors plotted against him and tried to

47. Amusing Ourselves To Death Summary
In Amusing Ourselves to Death, by Neil Postman, Postman instills his thesis
supporting the concept that all public discourse increasingly takes the form of
entertainment which created a position where Americans are slowly amusing
ourselves to death (3 4). He furthers this in stating that our discourse works through
media metaphors which function to define our world yet gives us no detail of
anything at all. These forms of discourse result in limiting and regulating what the
world must be which ultimately hinders a society altogether. Postman connects this
with society through his belief that the way we receive truth and the technologies that
do so define a society s truth. He then shifts to analyze the impact of televisionas a
medium
48. No Child Left Behind Standardization
The large change for standardization began with the implementation of the No Child
Left Behind Act (NCLB) in 2001. According to professors of education Delilah
David, Ingrid Haynes, Bernnell M. Peltier Glaze, Summer Pannell, and head of Texas
Marshall County school district, Carrie Skelton, the NCLB was responsible for a
number of undesirable consequences in schooladministration. Districts became
responsible for testscores from individual schools, creating pressures among
administrative officials to perform well. The act also made it easier for the federal
government to become more involved in education, primarily in its finances. Dr.
Martin Wasserburg conducted an assessment of lower income schools in an urban
area and found that t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the NCLB has fallen far too short of its goal. Standardized testing has not
only failed to help disadvantaged students, but has hurt them and their districts as
well (Wasserberg). Write more
The increase of standardization in education in the years following the NCLB s
implementation brought more undesirable consequences, one of them being the
pressure placed on teachers to perform well. More now than ever, teachers are
accountable for the test scores and performances given by individual students
(Wiliam, Dylan). In fact, the main purpose of standardized testing is not to assess the
contextual knowledge of students, but rather to act as an assessment of teacher
performance and quality. Teachers are held more accountable for the scores of their
students than the students themselves are, despite the proven lack of control that
teachers have over test scores. This particular facet of the American education
system sets us apart other developing countries, where students are held as equally
accountable to their scores as teachers are. According to Dylan Wiliam, two thirds of
the reasoning behind test scores can be traced back to socioeconomic factors, further
showing that teachers have a small influence in a student s test score, and that they
should not be assessed based on them alone.

50. Influence of Multiculturalism on Students Essay
There are layers to multiculturalism and its influence on psychological functioning
and development of students in the classroom. These layers are made of constructs,
helping to define contributing factors, highlight perspectives and better illustrate a
continuum of acceptance. Contributing factors to our diverse population are
Americanization, assimilation, nativism, and xenophobia. In Human Differences,
Kent Koppleman states Americanization ...encourages immigrants to abandon their
heritage and conform to American ways (Koppelman, 2011). Assimilation, adopting
other s traits (Koppelman, 2011), can be unfavorable if multicultural perspectives are
not introduced in curriculum to help further inform. Assimilation and
Americanization can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Relativism can then be attained, as students become more open to the possibility of
no absolute (Koppelman, 2011). Culturally aware students can move up a continuum
of acceptance. Tolerance is met when students are aware of differences and
minimalization can then be realized by emphasizing human qualities verses origins
(Koppelman, 2011). Last, students can become understanding , accepting differences
without judgment (Koppelman, 2011). As educators we need proactive curriculum,
so students gain better insight into the world around them. Ignoring diversity is
harmful to learning and to students attitudes. Human diversity is advantageous when
valued by those around them. Experiences are vital to understanding different
perspectives. Creating a safe school environment is crucial so that educators can
connect school expectations to home perspectives. Educator s experiences can help
schools become receptive to different perspectives, communicate these differences
and expectations to colleagues and parents, and relate to multiple perspectives during
conflict. Students come with different ways of knowing and viewing life. Students
must be educated to different perspectives and as Joel Spring states, ...learn to be
bicultural (Spring, 2010). Educators understandings and experiences help facilitate
fusion of mixed cultures. Knowledge of personal space and how
