Scenario of the Project Plan: In the role of IT Head of Loyalist college you aim to implement a Learning Management System (LMS) for the entire college. The college consists of multiple colleges and several administrative units. You will establish the strategic objectives, budgets, quality standards, technology considerations, administrative needs, content strategy, software development and rollout of the entire project. This will be a huge game-changer for the entire business of the Instituition - because it will change all aspects of the business. It will be a major USP of the college, it will change the complete student lifecycle - enrollment, education, administrative tasks and tools. Consider the duration of project is in between 12 to 15 months and Waterfall model is being followed.Project is divided into several phases like Planning, Design, Implementation, Integration & Production. Tasks to be done: a. Create a task structure/ WBS. Complete plan is required and so, as a group start with defining the objectives b. Establish milstones and these milestones should be visible in "Timeline" view c. New Calender has to be created and applied(including holidays) d. Experiment with different resource costing - and its various impact to the project and show cost variance e. Experiment with different reports on this project - various dashboards, in-progress reports, resource reports and cost reports f. Create multiple baselines and compare & showcase the changes during the course of the project g. Resolve overallocations by adding delays/ work contours h. Interrupting work on a task: Include a task which is of high priority and apply split task to resolve it Some of the basic sanity checks: 1. Project start date is accurate 2. Has the calendar been configured with all holidays and working time exceptions 3. Have all task dependencies been configured 4. Are the resources created and resource over-allocations been resolved 5. Have all the tasks been allocated and resource costs been configured correctly 8. Incorporate baseline.
