Timetable shows to staff and students which sessions are to be recorded. Integration partnership
across service teams and with supplier. API driven, enables synchronisation of data. Data quality
and error reporting crucial to the success of the service.

Staff Notifications and Support
Email alerts provide specific advice for microphones and a reminder of what can be captured in
rooms the lecturer is teaching in that week. Emails also act as a reminder for consent.

Module Link and VLE
Seamless integration with the VLE, module-based sites ensuring only those students who are on
the module can access the capture. Staff editing possible now through same interface.

Workflow crucial to success, making it as light-touch as possible for teaching staff. Fully automated
system ensures captures are made and get distributed to students. Service teams play a part at
different stages of the process, but all focused on ensures quality capture to support student learning.

Reducing barriers and errors
by developing integration
with existing systems
Data integrations are invaluable when it comes to scaling up the system. As well as data flow, error
reporting of schedules and API calls enables you to catch problems before they happen.

Have a steering group with academic department representation. Everyone should have a clear
vision for the service and buy into a common goal of supporting student learning.

Avoiding complacency
by establishing quality
checking process
Be aware that end users aren’t always going to report faults, or when they do it may be at the
revision stage, where errors have propagated through the term. Systematic checking improves
reliability and reputation of the service.

Prioritising audio quality
with staged investment
Backup microphones are essential in all rooms. Auto-mixers can be used to ensure the right
microphone source is selected. Radio lapel mics used in large rooms and rooms with poor acoustics.

Critical engagement

Address both the benefits and constraints of lecture capture. Discuss concerns and understand the
pedagogical arguments. Ensure students are aware of these arguments as well as staff.

These are commonly cited reasons, but tell us little about how lecture captures can actually
support student learning and contribute towards inclusivity, flexibility and deeper understanding.

study behaviour before, during and after class has been influenced by provision of lecture captures.

Emails also act as a reminder for consent.

Fully automated system ensures captures are made and get distributed to students. Service teams play a part at different stages of the process, but all focused on ensures quality capture to support student learning.

As well as data flow, error reporting of schedules and API calls enables you to catch problems before they happen.

Everyone should have a clear vision for the service and buy into a common goal of supporting student learning.

Systematic checking improves reliability and reputation of the service.

Auto-mixers can be used to ensure the right microphone source is selected. Radio lapel mics used in large rooms and rooms with poor acoustics.
