This document discusses various techniques for soil stabilization. It is used to improve the engineering properties of soil and make it suitable for construction purposes. The main techniques discussed are mechanical stabilization using compaction, cement stabilization by mixing soil and cement, lime stabilization effective for clayey soils, bituminous stabilization using bitumen to bind soil particles, and geotextile stabilization using strong porous fabrics embedded in soil. Each technique increases properties like bearing capacity, shear strength and reduces permeability and compressibility.
