6. Title sequence Analysis: Anatomy Of A
Murder
In this title sequence, the first thing we see is who presents the film which half of the
text is small but bold and the other half is big and bold. We hear from the start, jazz music.
We see outlines of bits of shapes. Then we find out that they are bits of the body when
the title comes up. The text is in white. It looks hand drawn. As the different titles come
up, the different bits of the body come up as well. We get a clue to what the film is about
when the leg image cuts into three buts suggesting that someone or something is going to
be cut up. The title sequence starts off having a grey background but ends having a black
background. The text colour stays the same and it does move around. Saul Bass’ title
sequence style is stylish and unordinary with all the different shapes.
