Saul Bass was an American graphic designer and film title sequence designer who was born in 1920 in New York. He is renowned for designing iconic film title sequences and logos for many major corporations. Some of his most famous title sequences include films like The Man with the Golden Arm, Exodus, and Vertigo. He also created enduring logos like the AT&T globe logo and logos for Quaker Oats, United Airlines, and more that are still in use today. Saul Bass passed away in 1996 in Los Angeles from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Born: May 8, 1920

Bass was born in New York to Eastern European Jewish immigrant parents.
Graduated from James Monroe High in the Bronx, studied part-time at the Art
Students League.
Attended Brooklyn College upon graduating from James Monroe High School.
Began working in Hollywood during 1940’s, doing print work for films ads.
Bass,whose first marriage ended in divorce, hired Elaine Makatura as his first
employee; they were married in 1961.

Started going into film poster making when he collaborated with
filmmaker Otto Preminger, designed a film poster for the 1954 film,
Carmen Jones.
Preminger was impressed with Bass’ work that he asked him to
produced the title sequence as well.

creating the title sequence for Preminger’s film: The Man

in 1969, then later turned into what is known as
