1. Saul Bass was an American based graphic designer , he is best known for
his tittle sequences ,film posters and logos.

2. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
• 1920- Born in Bronx which is a district of New York.
He studied at the Art Students League in New York and Brooklyn College
under Gyorgy Kepes who is a Hungarian graphic designer.
After apprenticeships Bass worked as ‘freelance graphic designer and at the time they
were called “commercial artist”.
• 1946- He moved to Los Angeles to get away creative constraints imposed on him in
New York.
• 1950- Saul Bass opens his own studio which is based on advertising.
• 1954- Otto Preminger invited Bass to create a poster for his movie “ Carmen Jones”.
He is impressed of the result and asked Saul Bass to create his whole tittle
sequence.
