Hepatic Irradiation
5.3.2 Markers of radiation induced hepatic injury
Of the liver enzymes that showed elevations in their serum concentrations following irradiation in
the current study, only the early increase in the AST level was significant (Fig. 9). ALT is also a
marker of hepatic damage, and it is found exclusively in the cytoplasm of cells. In contrast, AST is
present in the cytoplasm, which comprises 20% of its total activity, and in the mitochondria, which
comprises 80% of its total activity (Rej 1989). While the recruited granulocytes and the gamma
irradiation could damage some periportal hepatocytes, irradiation treatment may have a more
damaging effect on the numerous large mitochondria that reside within the hepatocytes, which

cells because irradiating these cells in vitro did not upregulate chemokine gene expression (Gaugler

that is, the hepatic stellate cells, differ from the Thy 1+ mesenchymal cells in the portal vessels
and in the portal area (Dudas et al.

Personal Narrative-Strength Training
I had Gwen go into meeting as soon as she completed fit training. I gave her he weekly scorecard
sheet and praised her for a wonderful FBC completion percentage. I had a made a note on there
about that and also notated that she also needed to continue working hard on her DPO and add on
sales.
I then gave Gwen her take a peek from the prior week. Her talk time average was 8:19 and her
ACW average was 0:06. When she saw this she stated she was trying. I said yes, but we have to
get it down. I then asked her what else I could do to help get her time down. I explained that
there were going to be days that she worked that my coaching time did not allow me to meet with
her. I explained I had specially asked to coach extra time in order to meet with her. She said she

obvious she wanted to continue to write down as a crutch I presented, Okay, what if you reversed
the order you did this and you keyed the item in the system and online first in order to verify the
item and at least comment about the item. This would cut down on some of the long pauses that
she would have in the calls. I stated that if she shaved off a few seconds here in each phone call
that that would help greatly. She said she would try

Rhetorical Strategies In Climate Change
The Uncertainty of Science: Rhetorical Strategies in the Climate Change Debate
In 2015, world leaders gathered together for the United Nations climate conference in Paris, in
hopes of reaching an emissions agreement to reduce climate change. The outcome was a global
pact between 195 countries, including the United States. The politicians and policy makers of the
conference were heavily influenced by a study done by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA). The Pausebuster study, published in 2015, refuted a 2013 study by
United Nations scientists, which claimed that global warming had slowed down from 1998 to
2013. The NOAA study, in fact, reported that the increase of global warming per decade had

Gallucci accurately labels Rose s article as the widely refuted Daily Mail article (Gallucci 1).
She even labels David Rose as a false journalist by highlighting a false climate science coverage
and Iraqi weaponry claims (1). Gallucci backs up her labels by using twitter post from Zeke
Hausfather, a climate scientist at U.C Berkeley and Gavin A. Schmidt, the director of the
NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (2). She also uses a blog post from Victor Vienna, a
German scientist with the World Meteorological Organization (5). Lastly, she uses a penned
rebuttal in a newspaper article by Peter Thorne, an Irish climate scientist, who worked on the
NOAA study (5). Rose also uses bias by labeling by presenting Dr. John Bate s evidence as
irrefutable , instead of as unverified, as correctly mentioned in Gallucci s article (Rose 1). He
also quickly links the 2015 NOAA study to the infamous 2009 Climategate scandal, in which
scientists manipulated data before the UN summit (2). In fact, Rose renames the NOAA climate
change study to Climategate 2.0 (3). Rose s limited sources include an interview John Bates, a
study conducted by John Bates by himself, and quotes from Professor Curry from Georgia
Institute of Technology (1). Gallucci s sources are a diverse set of scientists, who can accurately

Perception of the World and False Images from White Noise...
Perception of the World and False Images from White Noise
Don DeLillo s award winning novel White Noise takes the idea of the supremacy of false images
to the extreme. Through various scenarios, such as the airborne toxic event and the Dylar dilemma,
DeLillo critiques contemporary society s over dependence on false images. The characters in the
novel that exemplify this over dependence appear humorous on one hand, yet tragic on the other.
The humor comes from the novel s characters behaving like cartoon characters who continually get
hurt, but keep coming back for more. The novel s characters keep getting hurt by false images, yet
continue to believe in them, causing the reader to smack his or her head in astonishment. ... Show

Jack, as a department head, must wear a black academic robe while at the college. He likes the
idea, especially the flourish that results from him checking his watch, saying, Decorative
gestures add romance to a life (9). Jack, speaking of Hitler, says, Some people put on a uniform
and feel bigger, stronger, safer (63). I believe he is also talking about himself. Then there is the
matter of his name. Jack, at the advice of the chancellor, had changed his name to J.A.K.
Gladney by inventing an extra initial. The chancellor also told him to gain weight to look more
formidable. He wanted me to grow out into Hitler. If I could become more ugly, he seemed to be
suggesting, it would help my career enormously (17). Jack s false image is thus threefold: his name,
his size and his dress. By projecting this image, Jack feels trustworthy, strong and important.
Jack is not the only one projecting false images. Jack seems to be a magnet for those projecting
false images. It was curious how I kept stumbling into the company of lives in intelligence, he
utters when pondering the fact that two of his ex wives led secret lives (213). I have to wonder
if his desire to project a false image attracts him (or makes him attractive) to those doing likewise.
Jack had named his son Heinrich because it was a forceful name, a strong name. It has a kind of
authority (63). Granted Heinrich had no control over his name at the time it was

Domestic Vehicles In The US Economy
The question is simple. Why should Americans buy domestic vehicles compared to their foreign
counterparts? This question has plagued the U.S. consumer many years now, but why does it
even matter? Whether or not the person buys domestic or foreign, this decision has a major
effect on the U.S. economy. The person is basically picking which country they will provide the
work for building their vehicle. If they pick American, they are supporting a workforce of
dedicated craftsman just trying to make a living for their families (Miller). America once
dominated the entire field of automobiles, but has slipped away in the past years due to many
reasons. However, those years of bleak craftsmanship have been put in the past, and America is

allowing the father to pay for jerseys for his son s little league team. This also reduces the
problem of unemployment as well, which has plagued this country since the recession. 34,000

Software As A Service ( Saas )
Abstract. Software as a service (SaaS) is becoming popular in the modern era of cloud computing.
Most of the organizations prefer to use SaaS instead of on premise software applications. This
brings the responsibility of supporting a large number of tenants by the software vendor. A good
approach for handling multiple tenants is to implement multi tenant architecture for SaaS. Multi
tenant SaaS application will run a single instance of the application for all the users while providing
enough customization options to tenants so that they feel like they are working on a dedicated
application. Nevertheless, implementing the multi tenant architecture effectively is a complex task
as a lot of challenges and implications are involved in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The benefits of SaaS that make it popular are as follows: No additional hardware costs: the
processing power required to run the applica tions is supplied by the cloud provider. No initial
setup costs: applications are ready to use once the user subscribes. Pay for what you use: if a
piece of software is only needed for a limited period then it is only paid for over that period and
subscriptions can usually be halted at any time. Usage is scalable: if a user decides they need
more storage or additional services, for example, then they can access these on demand without
needing to install new software or hardware. Updates are automated: whenever there is an
update it is available online to ex isting customers, often free of charge. No new software will be
required as it often is with other types of applications and the updates will usually be deployed
automatically by the cloud provider. Cross device compatibility: SaaS applications can be
accessed via any internet enabled device, which makes it ideal for those who use a number of
different devices, such as internet enabled phones and tablets, and those who don t always use the
same computer. Accessible from any location: rather than being restricted to installations on indi
vidual computers, an application can be accessed from anywhere with an internet enabled device
[15]. To get the maximum out of SaaS, another emerging characteristic called multi tenancy is

Zwolinski Sweatshops Analysis
A simple database search will supply a smorgasbord of articles, papers, and personal writings
about the abuse and inhumanity of sweatshop factories. However, there is always two sides to
every coin and Zwolinski s article approaches the topic from the much less popular position of
defending international factories and cheap labor. He formulates a well written academic journal
entry presenting a stout argument for sweatshops while also presenting possible counterarguments.
Zwolinski s strongest premise is the central idea of choice and voluntary action. In fact, he opens
his paper saying: For the most part, individuals who work in sweatshops choose to do so. They
might not like working in sweatshops, and they might strongly desire that their

The Three Most Difficult Things About Learning Russia
Russian is a beautiful and unique language. To everyone listening, it can sound soft, gentle, and
lyrical. It expands across eleven time zones and two continents. It is spoken by at least two
million people. It is a language with so much to offer. Russian has its fair share of a rich history,
multiple advantages and ways to learn it, easy parts, difficult parts, and interesting facts. Russian is
an East Slavic language. It is closely related to Ukrainian and Belarusian. All three are part of the
Eastern Slavonic group, which emerged in the tenth century. The Cyrillic alphabet, which is the
alphabet used to write in Russian, was invented in the ninth century. It is closely based on the

Character Analysis Essay On The Catcher In The Rye
Holden Caulfield, the protagonist and main character of The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger,
seems to have many dislikes and much fewer likes about life, as a whole. In many situations
throughout the book, Holden seems to have negative thoughts about every little thing. From his
school, Pencey Prep, to movies or actors; even to the word grand, Holden seemingly holds a distaste
in just about anything that crosses paths with him. However, further into the novel, it becomes
apparent that one of the causes Holden holds dearest to his heart is to keep the innocence of
children for as long as possible. Holden wants to be the catcher in the rye because one of the
things he loves is young kids and the catcher saves them. Holden didn t seem to care about much
in the world, but near the end kids seemed to be what he adored most. He cared about them and
knew what to do to take care of them. The thingwith kids is, if they want to grab for the gold ring,
you have to let them do it, and not say anything. If they fall off, they fall off, but it s bad if you say
anything to them. (Salinger, 211) From this quote Holden is explaining to us how to interact with
kids. He is saying let them fail at something so they can learn the lesson rather than telling them...

Human Selection Vs Natural Selection
. The first force of evolution is mutation. It can be random or influenced and occurs during mitosis
or meiosis. It happens when there is a change in a persons genetic code; most mutations are
harmless. The second force is natural selection. Natural selection is the survival of a species with
the help of their biological characteristics. Fitness, a type of natural selection, is a species ability to
survive and produce offspring. The third force is genetic drift. This is a random change in a
species allele frequency. This can happen during a catastrophic event (bottleneck effect) or during a
species colonization in a new region (founder effect). The fourth and final force is geneflow. Gene

COO Effect
2.3 Effects of Country of Origin on consumers
Several scholars have researched the process of how COO effects impact on consumer s
perceptions, product evaluations and purchase intensions. It can be explained by the theory of Halo
Effect ; Summary Construct and Combined Halo and Summary Construct .
2.3.1 Halo Effect Model
Han (1989) examine the role of COO image in consumer evaluations of televisions and automobiles.
He suggests that when consumers are not familiar with the product s intrinsic cues, they tend to
utilize COO cue as a halo from which consumers can infer product attributes and quality in order to
simplify their decision making process. It can indirectly affect consumers product/brand attitudes
through their inferential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more additional product information that are presented, the weaker COO effects on
consumers product evaluations. If consumers have a source country of the product as a single
cue, all perceptions and characteristics about the product can only be inferred on the basis of
COO image (Han, 1989). However, if COO together with other extrinsic cues such as price, brand
are presented, a product s COO effect on consumer purchasing decisions will be diluted since more
marketing stimulus as reliable information input are conducted into consumers information
processing (Elliot and Cameron, 1994; Jaffe Nebenzahl, 2001; Kalicharan, 2014). The COO may be
an important element in the perceptions consumers have of products and services especially where
little other information is known.
2.4.3 Consumer
1) Product knowledge
Maheswaran (1994) found that the case of the existence of unambiguous information for a specific
product (in his case: computers), experienced consumers make their choices based on the
evaluation of specific product attributes; whereas less experienced consumers rely on the country of
origin. On the other hand, when information is lacking or is ambiguous, both types of consumers
rely on country of origin to infer the quality of the product.
2) Involvement

Play Macbeth
At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is a respected general, a devoted husband, and a loyal subject
of the king. The first of the witches prophecies bring out his ambitious nature, but he struggles with
killing the king. By attacking his manhood, Lady Macbeth convinces him to committ the first of his

Learning of this flaw in the execution of his scheme, Macbeth laments: Then comes my fit again.
I had else been perfect; Whole as the marble (III.iv.19 21). From Macbeth s standpoint, the reason
that the ghost of Banquo appears at the feast is that the loose end of Fleance s remaining alive has
left him cabin d, cribb d, confin d, bound in to saucy doubts and fears (III.iv.23 24).
Those doubts and fears lead Macbeth back to the witches and toward still more evil deeds. Having

Is Technology A Servant Or Master Essay
Technology: Servant or Master?
Technology can be used as a helpful tool, but when it controls someone s life it can have many
negative effects. Several scientists have conducted research proving technology can hurt someone
mentally and emotionally when used as a safety blanket instead of a helping hand. The effects
include a lack of motivation, time management, concentration, and problem solving skills. Other
effects observed are changes in emotions and relationships.
As technology has continued to grow and evolve, it has also changed how society functions and
interacts. In Christian Lange s Nobel Peace Prize speech, he says Technology is a useful servant but
a dangerous master. When technology is used only to aid, it is a servant. It becomes the master...

Spotify Impact
Streaming has had a massive impact on the the music industry within the last few years. One of
the most well known impacts for the music industry, was the launch of Spotify in 2008, which has
changed the way people listen to music ever since. It has been argued that Spotify do not pay out
fairly to artists but this can also be argued to be due to bad contract deals with record companies.
There are many recognizable examples of why mainstream artists are against musicstreaming, Lady
Gaga claimed she only earned ВЈ108 from one million listens in 2010. Spotify is a legal service
and pays to license songs from all major record labels and although Spotify pays royalties for all
the listening that occurs on their service, they distribute nearly 70% of revenues back to the right
holders, such as; publishers, distributors and the independent artists themselves. Therefore, as
reported by the Independent (Brown, 2012) if you calculate the minimum US monthly wage of

As explained by Spotify officials, they work around the basis that the more users they get, the
more money they can pay out (Knopper, 2014). Along with Spotify there are many more
streaming sites, such as Tidal and Apple Music. Most recently, singer Adele has not allowed her
latest album 25 available on many streaming services but it is still expected to be the best selling
album of the year. Adele stated she would have allowed streaming services to the new album, if it
was restricted to pay but Apple refused to do this. It can be debated that mainstream artists are
restricting their music being put on streaming sites due to business or just taking a stand. By artists
not streaming their music, sites such as iTunes have a rise on their digital sales. Any retailer
prefers this as it is Encouraging more people to buy then to stream (Shaw,

Advantages Of Securitisation In Nigeria
This paper seeks to discuss securitisation as a viable, and an alternative way of raising additional
capital for business organisations. Business organisations and other corporate entities require
substantial capital to grow and expand their ventures. When the financial resources of a business
entity are stretched to the limit, equity capital is scarce and therefore expansion is stalled.
Therefore, in order to improve their financial liquidity, the shareholders may not be ready to
relinquish their holdings by issuing stocks to the public. Hence, they have resorted to innovative
ways of raising additional capital with minimal cost. Securitisation has been found to be a
convenient way of raising funds by transforming unmarketable assets/receivables into tradable
securities through the instrumentality of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). For this reason, the
securitisation market has continued to grow. Securitisation has witnessed exponential growth from
a non existent industry in 1970 to $6.6 trillion as of the second quarter of 2003. As it has been
revealed in numerous instances, SPVs have been put to various use by... Show more content on

The examination of the Section would give an insight to the meaning of a subsidiary in the

Essay on The Prosecution and Tragic Death of Aaron Swartz
In light of the recent prosecution and tragic death of Aaron Swartz, it is my belief an formal
examination of the current legal processes is required. But first, the events leading to the current
moral turmoil must be reviewed.
After illegally downloading millions of articles from a digital library (JSTOR) with the intent to
distribute them online, computer programmer and political activist Aaron Swartz was caught and
arrested by MIT authorities. Under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act Aaron Swartz was federally
charged with numerous counts of Wire Fraud, Computer Fraud, and Unlawfully Obtaining
Information from a Protected Computer, Recklessly Damaging a Protected Computer ( United

However in Aarron Swartz case where the amount of files were retrieved he did not receive a
similar punishment because of his methods used. Now with the rise in computer crime it is difficult
to measure the impact inflicted. However in the case of Aaron Swartz his crime has been
described as trying to put someone in jail for allegedly checking too many books out of the
library (Declan, 2013). However because of the current copyright laws in the Computer Fraud
and Abuse Act he was prosecuted differently. It is my opinion that in light of the significant
threats posed by anonymous we need to examine whether an abuse of justice was committed. I
contacted a Professor Jonathan Simon at University of California, Berkeley who specializes in
Law and Social Policy to provide a third party perspective on this matter. In his famed novel
Governing Through Crime Professor Simon examines the relationship between the fear of crime
and the increase in Prosecutorial Authority. Historically speaking, prosecutors possessed limited
power but were intended to represent the public. However, following social and political
declaration of a war on crime, prosecutors were shifted into the political spotlight with additional
legal powers. During this progression a form of accountability and oversight was not implemented
proportionally. Simon specifically describes this concern

Should Same Sex Couples Be Allowed To Adopt
Should Same Sex Couples Be Allowed to Adopt With the battle of same sex marriage still
continuing, it has yet aroused another subject similar to the matter: should same sex couple be
allowed to adopt. Throughout the 21th century, this topic has been controversially debated
whether or not same sex couples adopting is a negative or beneficial right. With this being said,
homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt because kids with homosexual parents are more
open minded, shown the same love by parents and show love to others, however children are
believed to face social stigmatization. Kids may have the advantage of open mindedness,
tolerance and role models for equitable relationships when having homosexual parents. One
instance show when children are raised by homosexual parents are believed they will be more
tolerant when reaching older stages in their life to the LGBT community. For example a child is
raised by a gay couple, which later the child when older will be more accepting of those around
them and open minded to homosexual couples since they were raised by a homosexual couple.
Following this, children will be taught not to judge people off of their lifestyle, but to judge off of
their personality. Therefore, children who are raised by homosexual parents generally have better
social skills, and peer relationships which result in a stronger buffer against stigma or
discrimination. However, in some instances children face indirect consequences such as social

Ramayana Vs Gilgamesh
The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Ramayana share many similarities but also many differences.
Both characters share qualities that qualifies them as the epic hero s they are known to be.
Gilgamesh is considered an epic hero because he s two thirds god and Rama is thought of as the
reincarnate of Vishnu, the god of preservation. Another similarity they share is their journeys that
they each take, where they fight and defeat beasts, demons, and in Gilgamesh s case have journey

Photoshop in Business and Society
Businesses have countless applications for the computer software known as Photoshop. The
software is such an integrated part of society that businesses and scholarly articles assume people
have prior knowledge of what it is and what it does. Photoshop is defined by Oxford as
trademarked digital image editing software to alter photographic images. It is an industry standard
for digital graphics and has many applications to various businesses and media. Lev Manovich
wrote in Inside Photoshop that to count up the number of options in Photoshop and then count all
the options each option subsequently contains, that the total number of options the software allows
for would be in the thousands. Professionals in media, education, research, and many businesses
utilize the software. However, there is controversy surrounding the use of Photoshop in
advertisements that edited models to unrealistic levels, because of the impact those images have
on society. Nonetheless, Photoshop is widely used and has revolutionized business and integrated
into many industries not limited to media or photography. Photoshop has a brief history since it
has only been around for almost three decades. At the end of the 1980s, it was beginning to be
developed as a way of procrastination by Thomas Knoll, a University of Michigan graduate student

Traumatic Arthritis Essay
Introduction
Rheumatic arthritis (RA) is a chronic, progressive disorder that commonly presents a group of
mechanically related disorders concerning the degenerative nature of joints that is specifically
affecting the articular cartilage and subchondral bone (1). Thus, causing a dip in the quality of life
in RA patients. The aetiology for RA is unclear, however, a combination of hereditary susceptibility
causes a reaction that causes severe inflammation in the synovial membrane (1). However, other
factors such as the immunological, hormonal and environmental factors plays a role in
development of RA (2). The pathology of RA is characterised by an insidious order of biological
events that will eventually lead to articular cartilage destruction and secondary changes in
surrounding tissues (1). The pathological changes to joints consequently lead to structural
deformity and functional disability. The clinical presentation of RA patients are often intermittent
joint pain, worse on movement; stiffness; and, limited range of motion (ROM) and joint instability,

my family of procreation, but I do not go around telling just anyone. However, as per this
assignment I will discuss a personal family story. One of my earlier procreated family stories is
from the summer of 2008. Jack and I had been together for three years and had a one year old

However, we went without electricity for an entire month after the hurricane was over and done.
The significance as to why I chose this particular family story is because it is one of my favorite

Howl By Allen Ginsberg Critical Analysis
Poetry may be defined in many ways: for different people arising from different backgrounds,
(levels of education, beliefs, culture, and family), poetry may be viewed in many perspectives that
suit their familiarity of understanding. For T.S. Eliot, poetry is an art which is controlled to go
beyond reporting feelings of moments, into something extended. The extended feeling, that now
has meaning beyond just an expression for emotion, is then able to live for itself, separate from its
creator. Hence, poetrybecomes an escape from emotion and personality as the personality that it
derives from gives birth to something independent. Eliot is right to define poetry as something
representing an extended feeling, as the beauty of poetry is to convey meaning from something
unpoetic such as pure madness; however, he failed to include that to give meaning an
independence, to a feeling is to incorporate the poet s psychology. It takes a poet s intelligence to
be able to transfer the unexplainable to something understood by others. A poem is not just a
medium of escape, it is an extension of the poet s psyche as their experiences and knowledge of
their world is what helps them craft and define the shape of their work.
Howl, by Allen Ginsberg is an example of how a turning loose of emotion becomes not just an
escape of emotion, but an expression for his critiques against the American Society in the 1950 s.
Throughout the collection of poems, the minimal use of poetic conventions

US Embassy To Jerusalem Research Paper
Why the United States Should Move its Israeli Embassy to Jerusalem In every country of the
world, the United States is required by law to have an embassy in the capital except for one
crucial area, the country of Israel. Since the nation s existence, Israel has had a noticeable drought
of embassies in its capital city of Jerusalem, including its strongest and most important ally in the
United States. This is because both the Israelis and Palestinians claim this land as their own, and
has led to conflict for decades. Countries choose not to put an embassy in Jerusalem because they
do not wish to take a side in the matter. While some may say that establishing its embassy to

Perhaps the greatest reason for moving the embassy to Jerusalem is the fact that the United
States could actively oversee peace talks between the Israeli people and the Palestinians in an
area that both sides claim to own. This important benefit of the move is laid out by Robert
Stearns in his article, Moving the Embassy to Jerusalem shows that the U.S. is Committed to
Peace when he explains, It would signal that the U.S. is serious about ending this conflict, which
would be a benefit to Israelis and Palestinians, (Stearns 4). Being able to be a part of the talks to
resolve decades of tension and war is in a large sense, the biggest benefit of moving the embassy to
the capital city. The absence of an embassy in Jerusalem has gotten the peace talks nowhere, and
only a move of this magnitude could rejuvenate those

Examining Canadian Discrimination within a Society in...
Every individual in society is guaranteed a certain amount of protection and equality from the state
regardless of their situation or background. Depending on how the terms discrimination and
equality are interpreted in the courts will those rights apply.
In the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, section 15 consists of two subsections which will be
examined in terms of discrimination within society. As stated in section 15 (1) Every individual is
equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection of the law without

race, ethnicity, or any forms of disabilities. However, discrimination can also be applied in a general

There are ways for the courts to prevent things such as trivial matters in courts through proper
interpretation. There are two ways courts can interpret matters, there is the textual and contextual
approach. In this situation, the approach would be more contextual as it would focus on the use
of reason to interpret the law beyond what is in the statute and more based on societal factors.8
Societal factors refer to a person s economic, financial, educational, or a person s background.
Some people in society have a low standing in all these factors, which would put them at a
disadvantage and most laws reflect those needs.
All these factors contribute to how the Andrews case and other issues could be used to support the
inclusion of the terms social condition and social class within section 15 of the Charter. There are
other elements that can support this such as the type of equality that is involved and how it relates
to human dignity
This case is significant in terms of this paper since the courts discussed some key principles
concerning section 15. One of those principles claims that Section 15 is not, however, a general
guarantee of equality: differential treatment does not necessarily result in inequality... .3 In most
circumstances, this can be considered true as the Charter cannot provide protection for every single
issue, otherwise people would go to

Cosmetic Surgery Should Be Banned
Cosmetic surgery should be banned. Do you have one thing you would like to change about
your appearance? I would guess the answer is yes. People nowadays, especially women, are
consumed with their appearance. Many strive to conform to what society views as the perfect
body image and this can make people extremely insecure about the way they look. They think
that cosmetic surgery will solve this it doesn t. In fact, cosmetic surgery only enhances the need
to look beautiful and can lead to many consequences including addiction, mental illness and even
death. You may believe cosmetic surgery can help people with mental illnesses such as body
dysmorphia. However, it only acts as a plaster, hiding a much deeper problem. Providing surgery
to patients with low body confidence can lead to them craving more and more to satisfy their
needs, consequently creating a vicious circle of addiction. Cosmetic surgery can morph these type
of patients into completely different people, making them look almost unrecognisable. Imagine
looking in the mirror and not seeing yourself, but instead seeing another person, camouflaged by
the plastic injected into their face an irreversible procedure. Was it really worth it? After a recent

For example, pansexuality is the attraction to all genders (not just male and female), and
polysexuality is the attraction to some (not all) genders. A plethora of people identify as all three
of these genders, and yes they are real, and some do have preferences, others do not.
Basically, bisexuality erasure is a becoming a prevalent problem in the LGBTQIA+ community,
as well as the straight community. I ve had people tell me that bisexuals are just pretending, and
then there s the ever present rumor that bisexual people are just in it for the sex. I m here to say
that s not true. A bisexual person can like two, many, or all genders, and it has literally nothing to
do with sex or the amount of sex that person has.
However, some people within the LGBTQIA+ community feel like bisexuals are the most
privileged of the sexualities, because they can just identify as straight if they felt like it (an actual
person has said this to me before), and haven t felt the homophobia and hostility faced towards the
community. But we have. Bisexuals may not encounter as much homophobia and hostility, but we
still get the constant, Which do you prefer more, boys or girls? and the Well you have to like one

Esterification Lab
A Fischer esterification reaction was used in the first part of this lab to convert an unknown
alcohol into an ester through the help of microscale reflux, which was later identified using GC,
micro boiling point, and IR spectroscopy. In this type of reaction, an alcohol is reacted with a
carboxylic acid, and is driven by a strong acid catalysis to yield esterand water. To obtain a good
yield of the ester produced, Le Chatelier s principle is exploited to remove excess water and form
more ester product, by the addition of excess carboxylic acid.
A trans esterification reaction was used in part b of the experiment to synthesize biodiesel from
vegetable oil through the help of microscale reflux, which was analyzed using IR spectroscopy and

By using the technique of reflux, the reaction was allowed to heat for a long period of time,
where the vapors from the boil are cooled by the water flow and condensed back into the vial,
allowing for a constant temperature. Micro boiling point allows for the measuring of a liquid
compounds boiling point through the usage of the Mel Temp. The heating of the sample will
release air bubbles inside of the inverted bell, which will fill with the vapor from the sample,
when the heat is turned off and the last bubble exits the bell, the atmospheric pressure is equal to
the vapor pressure of the sample, giving the boiling point, which can help identify a sample. IR
spectroscopy measures the IR absorbance of a compound, and because each functional group has
unlike IR absorbance, they can be used to identify a compound. Gas chromatography evaporates a
sample and separates it using a carrier gas, which reaches the detector giving out a retention time.
Different compounds have different retention times, so when the GC of an unknown is compared
to a known standard, the sample can be identified. In viscosity determination, the time it takes for a
compound to flow from one mark to another in a pasteur pipette, is compared to the time it takes
for another compound, which divided give the relative viscosity of the

Summary Of The Journey By Primo Levi
Primo Levi was a Jewish writer and Holocaust survivor from the concentration Auschwitz. Primo
Levi talks about in his book called Survival in Auschwitz about what it means to survive. There
are many quotes that stand out in his book and have strong importance to them. The first quote
that stands out in Primo Levi s book is in chapter one, The Journey . In this chapter, Primo Levi
is describing his arrival. An important quote from this chapter is when Primo Levi says They
walked in squads, in rows of three, with an odd, embarrassed step, head dangling in front, arms
rigid. On their heads they wore comic berets and were all dressed in long striped overcoats,
which even by night and from a distance looked filthy and in rags. They walked in a large circle
around us, never drawing near, and in silence began to busy themselves with our luggage and to
climb in and out of the empty wagons (Levi 20). Primo Levi is describing his arrival at
Auschwitz. The importance of this quote is of the picture Primo Levi puts in the reader s mind.
Primo Levi does a great job describing in emotional detail of what his arrival was like. In the
next paragraph, Primo Levi says We looked at each other without a word. It was all
incomprehensible and mad. But one thing we had understood. This was the metamorphosis that
awaited us. Tomorrow we would be like them (Levi 21). This quote stands out because it shows
the realization Primo Levi had while watching the poor, lifeless Auschwitz prisoners work. By
watching the prisoners, Primo Levi had fully acknowledged that this is the life that awaits him the
next day. This is important for Primo Levi because by understanding what the future holds for him
in Auschwitz, he can better prepare himself for survival in Auschwitz. Primo Levi has a couple
quotes in chapter two, On the Bottom, that stand out and have significant importance to them. In
Chapter two, Primo Levi talks about the numbers being tattooed on his arm and what it means to
him. Primo Levi says I have learnt that I am Haftling. My number is 174517; we have been
baptized, we will carry the tattoo on our left arm until we die (Levi 27). This quote had many
importances to it. First, Levi says how they have just been

Riparian Zone Research Paper
Riparian Zones Small strips of land between the main land and a water bodies are known as a
Riparian zone. The zones act as a buffer between the interior land and the watershed. They do not
make up a large portion of the worlds entire land mass however, they are highly important for
ecosystems. Riparian ecosystems share attributes of both aquatic and land ecosystems allowing for
greater and a wider verity of biodiversity. They also act as protective barrier for water bodies.
Protecting them from soil run off, pollutants and control water temperature by shading sunlight.

Justin Trudeau s Promises To Canada
In the last week of April, Justin Trudeau visited Saskatoon s Oskayak High School. During his
visit, he received tough questions from First Nations teens on their futures and his promises
(Harper A6). The teens asked about First Nations suicides, genocide, Third World living conditions
and respect for treaties. How do you intend to honour the promises your ancestors made with mine
exactly written in all the signed treaties across Canada, to make up and pay for the acts of genocide
our ancestors were subject to long before and after the signing of Treaty Six? How do you (...) plan

These people are living in poor conditions and not being noticed or cared for. The government has
made many deals and promises to the First Nations people for land and better living for over a
century, and yet they have not followed through with a lot of their promises. This leaves the First
Nations people to face problems on their own that leave them wondering why these problems are
not covered by the government for them. Canada is seen as a culture embracing country, however
when it comes to First Nations, Canada falls short. First Nations people face higher rates of
unemployment, lower life expectancy, and have fewer high school graduates. These are only
three of the many problems that First Nations people face. Although Canada has taken many
positive steps toward ending the discrimination to First Nations people, there is and will always
be room for improvement. This article is relevant to Canadians because these problems are
happening in Canada. These are the problems that Canada has been involved in since 1701 when
people from Britain had promised a peaceful relationship between First Nations people and others.
Yet the First Nations are not receiving the peace they were

Personal Narrative Essay On Alcatraz
I was on the ferry boat with my dad, I was eating snacks my dad packed. My heart was beating like
before I play a basketball game. We were on our way to Alcatraz, the island off of San Francisco
that was once a jail. Alcatraz was a very famous jail because no one could escape, except for people
who escaped from the island but might ve died in the water or got caught right away. I was 5 or 6
years old and me and my dad were going to Alcatraz because of a father and daughter activity. I
thought, this day is going to be nice, no brothers to annoy me and it s just me and my dad. That day
me and my dad woke up early to drive to San Francisco, when I woke up I felt excited and a little
nervous because this was the first time I was going to a jail. Not a lot of people were on the island

day, we stood there for a few seconds and we continued our walk around the island. We walked
through a little tunnel and I had this special moment with my dad, it was just me and my dad no
one else around us. My dad pointed out this cannon on the side of the walkway he said It was
used for world war 2 but I m still not sure. We did not walk all over Alcatraz, but I had some

Chemical Warfare During The First World War
Chemical Warfare in the First World War The First World War, while engulfing Europe with four
years of death and destruction, also served as something of a testing ground, allowing nations to
test and deploy the newest and most high tech weapons in their arsenals. It is from these
experiences, on the bitter, mud drenched fields of Flanders, Eastern Europe, and elsewhere, that
many technologies that shape the modern battlefield today, such as the air plane or the tank, were
first put to use on a grand scale. It is here too, that another weapon was unleashed upon humanity
for first time, but this one was deemed so sinister that the nations of the world near unanimously
agreed to ban once the war ended. A weapon so awful that even today,... Show more content on

Its use, however, despite its non lethality, served to set a dangerous precedent for the war.
German planners wasted no time in developing their own incapacitating agents to retaliate with,
and before long something of a chemical weapons arms race was underway. The German
chemical response finally came that October, when British forces at Neuve Chapelle were hit
with a wave of xylyl bromide, and apparently the Germans like what they saw. In January, they
decided to turn their new weapon against the Russian army, in what they hoped would send their
opponents running beneath a thick cloud of tear gas. To create this cloud, nearly 20,000 shells
were filled with teargas and unleashed on the Russian positions west of Warsaw. Unfortunately for
the Germans, however, they did not take into account the frigid conditions that occur in Central
Poland in July, and most of the gas froze, the shells harmlessly falling to earth amongst a
bewildered Czarist force. In light of the developments on the Eastern Front, as well as the fact that
xylyl bromide was found to corrode metals and thus posed a logistics nightmare for the men
transporting the shells, the German army began looking for alternatives and finally

Solubility Equilibrium and the Effect of Temperature Essays
Introduction For this experiment, we are going to determine the effect of temperature on solubility,
to be done in a chemical by dissolving a solute in a definite amount of solution which is saturated.
Specifically, the goal of this experiment is to prepare a saturated solution of Na2C2O4 in water at
different temperatures, determine the effect of temperaturein solubility, and to apply Le Chatelier s
Principle. We can do all this by simply titrating a certain amount of standard KMnO4, and
measuring how much KMnO4 was needed to help Na2C2O4 reach chemical equilibrium at certain
temperatures. In doing this, we will have fulfilled all the goals of our experiment, as well as being

Big Business And Government In The 1920s Essay
America was against involving themselves in the war because they weren t impacted by any of the
agreements that caused the European powers to go to war in the first place. They thought war
would sow death, misery, and reaction throughout the nation but also threatened the firm hand of
repression against disloyalty anticipating battles at home as well as abroad. Basically, war would
bring on too many problems internally if they were to get into external battles. They also supported
neutrality in the war and thought that the United Stateshad no real reason to get involved in the war.
President Wilson delivered a statement of neutrality and advised Americans to be neutral in fact as
well as in name... impartial in thought as well as in action.
Describe the relationship between big business and government in the 1920s.

William Harding, increased business activity by raising import rates to protect industry from
foreign competition. His motto was less government in business, more business in government.

enough money being put into the market to maintain the economy. 200 of the largest corporations
controlled half the corporate wealth and their power led to prices being kept high rather than being
determined by price and demand. Government policies failed to enforce antitrust laws and regulate
banking and the stock market. Reducing tax rates on the wealthy contributed to the mismanagement
of money. The same governmental policies that shaped the booming 1920s economy also led to

Effects Of Technology On Companionship
I am writing to you to talk to you about how technology is growing and how it is impacting
people s humanity. Some may say technology is impacting people positively but my worry is that
technology can hinder people s humanity the same way it helps others. It has and still will
negatively impacted on our everyday lives and our humanity if actions are not taken. I believe
technology is affecting companionship due to the constant use of cellphone to communicate with
friends and family. This trait of humanity is crucial in our lives because friends have alway been
there to help us get through rough times as well as bringing out the true side of you. Throughout
history companionship has alway part an significant role in people s lives as demonstrated in the
oldest piece of literature, an epic called Gilgamesh. In the epic, the main character Gilgamesh went
through many journeys with his best friend, Enkidu, who always had Gilgamesh s back. For
instance, the time that Gilgamesh was afraid to face Humbababut Enkidu stepped up to protect
Gilgamesh. Today, technology has grown so much that we are able to communicate with
cellphone via texting which is causing people to forget how to have a real conversation. But the
bright side is that people are able have complete control over what you re going say.
To start off, the basic to companionship is the fact that conversion is an essential to making friends
and talking to them. Texting is become an important part of people s lives that

Using Journals Effectively in Classrooms Essay
Using Journals Effectively in Classrooms
Journal writing seems to be a popular element teachers use to give students the opportunity to
become involved in the classroom without always speaking. However, is journal writing a
beneficial tool for student learning? How can it become more effective in the classroom? There are
many types of journals which can be used in a classroom. I have decided to look at the different
types of journals that exist to gain a broad overview of journal usage. This is to help me decide
what the most effective journal for this classroom would be.
First, let us look at what journal writing is. Journal writing is a method to provide students with an
alternate way of expression. It promotes individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Journals are also a way for students to express ideas without feeling pressure to respond in a certain
manner in order to receive a good grade.
Along with the freedom to express thoughts and concerns, a journal also can provide the
freedom in which you express these thoughts and concerns. Journals are considered an artist s
notebook. Journal entries are normally done by using words, however there is a move to allow
students to use photographs, drawings, paintings, or any creative way the student may choose to
express themselves. According to Teaching Writing written by Gail Tompkins, the purpose of
journal writing is for students to use journals to 1) record personal experiences, 2) explore
reactions and interpretations, and 3) record and analyze information. These criteria or aspects can
be applied to any and all disciplines. I think that the most important place to include journal
wrtiting is in the English classroom. This is where writing begins to take shape. Since it such a
vital aspect of everyday life, students should feel comfortable expressing themselves and should
have the means to do so. Journals allow students the opportunity to visual express themselves and
to see their ideas on paper giving

  • 2. Hepatic Irradiation 5.3.2 Markers of radiation induced hepatic injury Of the liver enzymes that showed elevations in their serum concentrations following irradiation in the current study, only the early increase in the AST level was significant (Fig. 9). ALT is also a marker of hepatic damage, and it is found exclusively in the cytoplasm of cells. In contrast, AST is present in the cytoplasm, which comprises 20% of its total activity, and in the mitochondria, which comprises 80% of its total activity (Rej 1989). While the recruited granulocytes and the gamma irradiation could damage some periportal hepatocytes, irradiation treatment may have a more damaging effect on the numerous large mitochondria that reside within the hepatocytes, which would lead to a greater ... However, endothelial cells may play a minor role in the transmigration of the inflammatory cells because irradiating these cells in vitro did not upregulate chemokine gene expression (Gaugler et al. 1998). This may also support the notion that the mesenchymal cells of the sinusoidal wall, that is, the hepatic stellate cells, differ from the Thy 1+ mesenchymal cells in the portal vessels and in the portal area (Dudas et al. ... • 3. Personal Narrative-Strength Training I had Gwen go into meeting as soon as she completed fit training. I gave her he weekly scorecard sheet and praised her for a wonderful FBC completion percentage. I had a made a note on there about that and also notated that she also needed to continue working hard on her DPO and add on sales. I then gave Gwen her take a peek from the prior week. Her talk time average was 8:19 and her ACW average was 0:06. When she saw this she stated she was trying. I said yes, but we have to get it down. I then asked her what else I could do to help get her time down. I explained that there were going to be days that she worked that my coaching time did not allow me to meet with her. I explained I had specially asked to coach extra time in order to meet with her. She said she didn t know. I reminded her Cheryl , myself, and Chelsea prior to her departure had all met with her, we had y corded with her, and we ve sent emails to her and there has been no improvement. We discussed that she had emailed her survey numbers to Cheryl and me which she had commented that they were not too shabby . I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I stated this was the reason for many long pauses on the phone and asked why she wrote them all down when she had the items in the system and online. She replied that it was because she would forget. I told her she shouldn t forget it if she has the item in two other places. When it was obvious she wanted to continue to write down as a crutch I presented, Okay, what if you reversed the order you did this and you keyed the item in the system and online first in order to verify the item and at least comment about the item. This would cut down on some of the long pauses that she would have in the calls. I stated that if she shaved off a few seconds here in each phone call that that would help greatly. • 4. Rhetorical Strategies In Climate Change The Uncertainty of Science: Rhetorical Strategies in the Climate Change Debate In 2015, world leaders gathered together for the United Nations climate conference in Paris, in hopes of reaching an emissions agreement to reduce climate change. The outcome was a global pact between 195 countries, including the United States. The politicians and policy makers of the conference were heavily influenced by a study done by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Pausebuster study, published in 2015, refuted a 2013 study by United Nations scientists, which claimed that global warming had slowed down from 1998 to 2013. The NOAA study, in fact, reported that the increase of global warming per decade had increased, instead of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gallucci accurately labels Rose s article as the widely refuted Daily Mail article (Gallucci 1). She even labels David Rose as a false journalist by highlighting a false climate science coverage and Iraqi weaponry claims (1). Gallucci backs up her labels by using twitter post from Zeke Hausfather, a climate scientist at U.C Berkeley and Gavin A. Schmidt, the director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (2). She also uses a blog post from Victor Vienna, a German scientist with the World Meteorological Organization (5). Lastly, she uses a penned rebuttal in a newspaper article by Peter Thorne, an Irish climate scientist, who worked on the NOAA study (5). Rose also uses bias by labeling by presenting Dr. John Bate s evidence as irrefutable , instead of as unverified, as correctly mentioned in Gallucci s article (Rose 1). He also quickly links the 2015 NOAA study to the infamous 2009 Climategate scandal, in which scientists manipulated data before the UN summit (2). In fact, Rose renames the NOAA climate change study to Climategate 2.0 (3). Rose s limited sources include an interview John Bates, a study conducted by John Bates by himself, and quotes from Professor Curry from Georgia Institute of Technology (1). • 5. Perception of the World and False Images from White Noise... Perception of the World and False Images from White Noise Don DeLillo s award winning novel White Noise takes the idea of the supremacy of false images to the extreme. Through various scenarios, such as the airborne toxic event and the Dylar dilemma, DeLillo critiques contemporary society s over dependence on false images. The characters in the novel that exemplify this over dependence appear humorous on one hand, yet tragic on the other. The humor comes from the novel s characters behaving like cartoon characters who continually get hurt, but keep coming back for more. The novel s characters keep getting hurt by false images, yet continue to believe in them, causing the reader to smack his or her head in astonishment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jack, as a department head, must wear a black academic robe while at the college. He likes the idea, especially the flourish that results from him checking his watch, saying, Decorative gestures add romance to a life (9). Jack, speaking of Hitler, says, Some people put on a uniform and feel bigger, stronger, safer (63). I believe he is also talking about himself. Then there is the matter of his name. Jack, at the advice of the chancellor, had changed his name to J.A.K. Gladney by inventing an extra initial. The chancellor also told him to gain weight to look more formidable. He wanted me to grow out into Hitler. If I could become more ugly, he seemed to be suggesting, it would help my career enormously (17). Jack s false image is thus threefold: his name, his size and his dress. By projecting this image, Jack feels trustworthy, strong and important. Jack is not the only one projecting false images. Jack seems to be a magnet for those projecting false images. It was curious how I kept stumbling into the company of lives in intelligence, he utters when pondering the fact that two of his ex wives led secret lives (213). I have to wonder if his desire to project a false image attracts him (or makes him attractive) to those doing likewise. Jack had named his son Heinrich because it was a forceful name, a strong name. It has a kind of authority (63). Granted Heinrich had no control over his name at the time it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Domestic Vehicles In The US Economy The question is simple. Why should Americans buy domestic vehicles compared to their foreign counterparts? This question has plagued the U.S. consumer many years now, but why does it even matter? Whether or not the person buys domestic or foreign, this decision has a major effect on the U.S. economy. The person is basically picking which country they will provide the work for building their vehicle. If they pick American, they are supporting a workforce of dedicated craftsman just trying to make a living for their families (Miller). This also reduces the problem of unemployment as well, which has plagued this country since the recession. 34,000 workers are expected to be hired over the next few years, and more job opportunities could ensue (Miller). Harry fights trolls, and plants, very headstrong, good willed, and smart. Ronald Weasely comes from a wizarding family, has many big brothers and one sister, who is the youngest. He is smart, kind, and clumsy. He loves to joke and gets worried very quickly. Sticks up for friends, and won t let anyone hurt them. Hermione Granger, very smart, sweet, sometimes acts like a now it all. Cares for her friends, helps them out when she can. • 9. Software As A Service ( Saas ) Abstract. Software as a service (SaaS) is becoming popular in the modern era of cloud computing. Most of the organizations prefer to use SaaS instead of on premise software applications. This brings the responsibility of supporting a large number of tenants by the software vendor. A good approach for handling multiple tenants is to implement multi tenant architecture for SaaS. Multi tenant SaaS application will run a single instance of the application for all the users while providing enough customization options to tenants so that they feel like they are working on a dedicated application. Nevertheless, implementing the multi tenant architecture effectively is a complex task as a lot of challenges and implications are involved in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The benefits of SaaS that make it popular are as follows: No additional hardware costs: the processing power required to run the applica tions is supplied by the cloud provider. No initial setup costs: applications are ready to use once the user subscribes. Pay for what you use: if a piece of software is only needed for a limited period then it is only paid for over that period and subscriptions can usually be halted at any time. Usage is scalable: if a user decides they need more storage or additional services, for example, then they can access these on demand without needing to install new software or hardware. Updates are automated: whenever there is an update it is available online to ex isting customers, often free of charge. No new software will be required as it often is with other types of applications and the updates will usually be deployed automatically by the cloud provider. Cross device compatibility: SaaS applications can be accessed via any internet enabled device, which makes it ideal for those who use a number of different devices, such as internet enabled phones and tablets, and those who don t always use the same computer. He formulates a well written academic journal entry presenting a stout argument for sweatshops while also presenting possible counterarguments. Zwolinski s strongest premise is the central idea of choice and voluntary action. In fact, he opens his paper saying: For the most part, individuals who work in sweatshops choose to do so. From his school, Pencey Prep, to movies or actors; even to the word grand, Holden seemingly holds a distaste in just about anything that crosses paths with him. However, further into the novel, it becomes apparent that one of the causes Holden holds dearest to his heart is to keep the innocence of children for as long as possible. Holden wants to be the catcher in the rye because one of the things he loves is young kids and the catcher saves them. Holden didn t seem to care about much in the world, but near the end kids seemed to be what he adored most. He cared about them and knew what to do to take care of them. Business organisations and other corporate entities require substantial capital to grow and expand their ventures. When the financial resources of a business entity are stretched to the limit, equity capital is scarce and therefore expansion is stalled. Therefore, in order to improve their financial liquidity, the shareholders may not be ready to relinquish their holdings by issuing stocks to the public. Hence, they have resorted to innovative ways of raising additional capital with minimal cost. Securitisation has been found to be a convenient way of raising funds by transforming unmarketable assets/receivables into tradable securities through the instrumentality of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). Howl By Allen Ginsberg Critical Analysis Poetry may be defined in many ways: for different people arising from different backgrounds, (levels of education, beliefs, culture, and family), poetry may be viewed in many perspectives that suit their familiarity of understanding. For T.S. Eliot, poetry is an art which is controlled to go beyond reporting feelings of moments, into something extended. The extended feeling, that now has meaning beyond just an expression for emotion, is then able to live for itself, separate from its creator. Hence, poetrybecomes an escape from emotion and personality as the personality that it derives from gives birth to something independent. Eliot is right to define poetry as something representing an extended feeling, as the beauty of poetry is to convey meaning from something unpoetic such as pure madness; however, he failed to include that to give meaning an independence, to a feeling is to incorporate the poet s psychology. It takes a poet s intelligence to be able to transfer the unexplainable to something understood by others. A poem is not just a medium of escape, it is an extension of the poet s psyche as their experiences and knowledge of their world is what helps them craft and define the shape of their work. Howl, by Allen Ginsberg is an example of how a turning loose of emotion becomes not just an escape of emotion, but an expression for his critiques against the American Society in the 1950 s. Throughout the collection of poems, the minimal use of poetic conventions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. US Embassy To Jerusalem Research Paper Why the United States Should Move its Israeli Embassy to Jerusalem In every country of the world, the United States is required by law to have an embassy in the capital except for one crucial area, the country of Israel. Since the nation s existence, Israel has had a noticeable drought of embassies in its capital city of Jerusalem, including its strongest and most important ally in the United States. This is because both the Israelis and Palestinians claim this land as their own, and has led to conflict for decades. Countries choose not to put an embassy in Jerusalem because they do not wish to take a side in the matter. While some may say that establishing its embassy to Jerusalem would incite violence in the region, the United States should move forward with this relocation in order to promote... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps the greatest reason for moving the embassy to Jerusalem is the fact that the United States could actively oversee peace talks between the Israeli people and the Palestinians in an area that both sides claim to own. This important benefit of the move is laid out by Robert Stearns in his article, Moving the Embassy to Jerusalem shows that the U.S. is Committed to Peace when he explains, It would signal that the U.S. is serious about ending this conflict, which would be a benefit to Israelis and Palestinians, (Stearns 4). Being able to be a part of the talks to resolve decades of tension and war is in a large sense, the biggest benefit of moving the embassy to the capital city. There are ways for the courts to prevent things such as trivial matters in courts through proper interpretation. There are two ways courts can interpret matters, there is the textual and contextual approach. In this situation, the approach would be more contextual as it would focus on the use of reason to interpret the law beyond what is in the statute and more based on societal factors.8 Societal factors refer to a person s economic, financial, educational, or a person s background. Some people in society have a low standing in all these factors, which would put them at a disadvantage and most laws reflect those needs. All these factors contribute to how the Andrews case and other issues could be used to support the inclusion of the terms social condition and social class within section 15 of the Charter. There are other elements that can support this such as the type of equality that is involved and how it relates to human dignity This case is significant in terms of this paper since the courts discussed some key principles concerning section 15. One of those principles claims that Section 15 is not, however, a general guarantee of equality: differential treatment does not necessarily result in inequality... .3 In most circumstances, this can be considered true as the Charter cannot provide protection for every single issue, otherwise people would go to ... People nowadays, especially women, are consumed with their appearance. Many strive to conform to what society views as the perfect body image and this can make people extremely insecure about the way they look. They think that cosmetic surgery will solve this it doesn t. In fact, cosmetic surgery only enhances the need to look beautiful and can lead to many consequences including addiction, mental illness and even death. You may believe cosmetic surgery can help people with mental illnesses such as body dysmorphia. However, it only acts as a plaster, hiding a much deeper problem. Providing surgery to patients with low body confidence can lead to them craving more and more to satisfy their needs, consequently creating a vicious circle of addiction. Cosmetic surgery can morph these type of patients into completely different people, making them look almost unrecognisable. Basically, bisexuality erasure is a becoming a prevalent problem in the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as the straight community. To obtain a good yield of the ester produced, Le Chatelier s principle is exploited to remove excess water and form more ester product, by the addition of excess carboxylic acid. By using the technique of reflux, the reaction was allowed to heat for a long period of time, where the vapors from the boil are cooled by the water flow and condensed back into the vial, allowing for a constant temperature. Micro boiling point allows for the measuring of a liquid compounds boiling point through the usage of the Mel Temp. The heating of the sample will release air bubbles inside of the inverted bell, which will fill with the vapor from the sample, when the heat is turned off and the last bubble exits the bell, the atmospheric pressure is equal to the vapor pressure of the sample, giving the boiling point, which can help identify a sample. IR spectroscopy measures the IR absorbance of a compound, and because each functional group has unlike IR absorbance, they can be used to identify a compound. Gas chromatography evaporates a sample and separates it using a carrier gas, which reaches the detector giving out a retention time. Different compounds have different retention times, so when the GC of an unknown is compared to a known standard, the sample can be identified. • 43. Summary Of The Journey By Primo Levi Primo Levi was a Jewish writer and Holocaust survivor from the concentration Auschwitz. Primo Levi talks about in his book called Survival in Auschwitz about what it means to survive. There are many quotes that stand out in his book and have strong importance to them. The first quote that stands out in Primo Levi s book is in chapter one, The Journey . In this chapter, Primo Levi is describing his arrival. An important quote from this chapter is when Primo Levi says They walked in squads, in rows of three, with an odd, embarrassed step, head dangling in front, arms rigid. On their heads they wore comic berets and were all dressed in long striped overcoats, which even by night and from a distance looked filthy and in rags. They walked in a large circle around us, never drawing near, and in silence began to busy themselves with our luggage and to climb in and out of the empty wagons (Levi 20). Primo Levi is describing his arrival at Auschwitz. The importance of this quote is of the picture Primo Levi puts in the reader s mind. Primo Levi does a great job describing in emotional detail of what his arrival was like. In the next paragraph, Primo Levi says We looked at each other without a word. It was all incomprehensible and mad. But one thing we had understood. This was the metamorphosis that awaited us. Tomorrow we would be like them (Levi 21). This quote stands out because it shows the realization Primo Levi had while watching the poor, lifeless Auschwitz prisoners work. By watching the prisoners, Primo Levi had fully acknowledged that this is the life that awaits him the next day. This is important for Primo Levi because by understanding what the future holds for him in Auschwitz, he can better prepare himself for survival in Auschwitz. Primo Levi has a couple quotes in chapter two, On the Bottom, that stand out and have significant importance to them. In Chapter two, Primo Levi talks about the numbers being tattooed on his arm and what it means to him. Primo Levi says I have learnt that I am Haftling. Big Business And Government In The 1920s Essay America was against involving themselves in the war because they weren t impacted by any of the agreements that caused the European powers to go to war in the first place. They thought war would sow death, misery, and reaction throughout the nation but also threatened the firm hand of repression against disloyalty anticipating battles at home as well as abroad. Basically, war would bring on too many problems internally if they were to get into external battles. It has and still will negatively impacted on our everyday lives and our humanity if actions are not taken. I believe technology is affecting companionship due to the constant use of cellphone to communicate with friends and family. This trait of humanity is crucial in our lives because friends have alway been there to help us get through rough times as well as bringing out the true side of you. Throughout history companionship has alway part an significant role in people s lives as demonstrated in the oldest piece of literature, an epic called Gilgamesh. For instance, the time that Gilgamesh was afraid to face Humbababut Enkidu stepped up to protect Gilgamesh. Today, technology has grown so much that we are able to communicate with cellphone via texting which is causing people to forget how to have a real conversation. Along with the freedom to express thoughts and concerns, a journal also can provide the freedom in which you express these thoughts and concerns. Journals are considered an artist s notebook. Journal entries are normally done by using words, however there is a move to allow students to use photographs, drawings, paintings, or any creative way the student may choose to express themselves. According to Teaching Writing written by Gail Tompkins, the purpose of journal writing is for students to use journals to 1) record personal experiences, 2) explore reactions and interpretations, and 3) record and analyze information. These criteria or aspects can be applied to any and all disciplines. I think that the most important place to include journal wrtiting is in the English classroom. This is where writing begins to take shape. Since it such a vital aspect of everyday life, students should feel comfortable expressing themselves and should have the means to do so.
