This document is a production log for a student named Amy Brockbank who is creating a digital graphic for a computer game called "Project A" for their Creative Media Production course. Over the course of several dates, Amy gathered images to create a background, traced photos of herself and additional images to create game characters and environments, and designed packaging for the game cover and back. The final piece places the game title "Project A" above a character and robots on a post-apocalyptic cityscape background.
This is a brief slideshow outlining the various images I've edited for use in my AS Media Studies Coursework (creating a music magazine). I used Adobe Photoshop for editing and in this PowerPoint I outline the tools used, and how and why I used them.
The document discusses the student's research, planning, time management, and technical skills related to creating a magazine production project. Regarding research, the student analyzed front covers and double page spreads in detail, learning techniques for color, layout, and theme. However, the research focused mainly on film/TV magazines and could have benefited from examining a wider range of genres. Planning through style sheets and a proposal helped determine design elements and audience. However, time management was poor - too much spent on characters and articles instead of production. Technical skills with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign were developed in creating characters, backgrounds and layouts, applying filters and effects for realism and impact.
The original script tells a story about a man who lives in poverty with only his cat for company. The man's cat decides to help their situation by digging in a cave and finding silver, gold, and diamonds which it gifts to the local king. In return, the king organizes a wedding between the man and the king's daughter.

Here is a summary of the key feedback points:
Proposal:
- Provides a high level of detail throughout, clearly outlining the story, production methods, audience, etc. This is a major strength.
- Could include additional export format advantages/disadvantages for further depth.
- Consider expanding the intended audience to include other English-speaking countries internationally.
Idea Generation:
- Mood boards are very detailed and thoroughly explore the look and feel of characters. This shows strong ideation.
- Could add more visual examples/images to further develop stylistic approaches.
- Include details on intended fonts/text treatments.
Overall, the proposal and idea generation show extensive planning and consideration. The main

[Verse 1: Gandhi]
You want to battle wits? see who's a better pacifist
I fought the caste system, but you still cannot touch this
Slumdog skillionaire, first name Messiah
Raps so hot I spit yoga fire
Everything you preach, I said it first
You should just jot down these words, plagiarize my whole verse
Leave your thoughts on the door like the real Martin Luther
I'm not thinking you shall overcome this Junior
[Verse 2: Martin Luther King Jr.]
I'm the King of civil rights from the city to suburbia
No shoes, no shirt, but I'm still gonna serve ya
Make you swallow your words so you can break the fast
Then thank God almighty, you can eat at last
I admire the way you broke the British power
But I have a dream that one day you'll take a shower
Like the H in your name, you ought to remain silent
Flatten your style like bread, Naan-violence
[Verse 3: Gandhi]
You would know about bread, Dr.Birmingham sandwich
Boycott those grits, sit in with some spinach
With protests and women, the same advice goes
Always stay away from the ho's
The document describes a digital graphic narrative task where the student created an image of a cartoon goat using basic shapes. They liked how the minimal shapes captured the goat and how layering and textures added detail. Improvements would include adding a black outline to define the shape and more background detail.

The document discusses a paper titled "Teachers Make A Difference" which aims to establish the profile of an expert teacher. It reviews literature on the influences on student achievement and identifies five dimensions of excellent teachers: identifying essential representations, guiding learning through interactions, monitoring learning and providing feedback, attending to affective attributes, and influencing student outcomes. The key finding is that teachers have the greatest impact on student achievement and expert teachers demonstrate attributes like challenge, deep representation, and feedback.
The document discusses the process of creating ancillary products for a film project, including a poster, logo, and film magazine. For the poster, the creator cropped an image of the main actor into multiple sizes and positioned them at the top. Fonts and colors were chosen to convey the genre. The logo was made in Photoshop using layers and blur tools. Multiple drafts of the film magazine were made with revisions like additional coverlines, advertisements, and font changes to better match conventions.
The document provides details on the construction of a music magazine front cover focused on grime music. It describes editing a brick wall photo in Photoshop to use as the colorful background. Font, sizing, and colors were selected for the masthead and feature text to complement the background and genre. Images were imported and edited to include on the cover and inside pages. Layouts were designed in InDesign, adding columns and positioning elements to attract readers' eyes while following magazine design conventions. The process included multiple revisions to element colors, sizing, and positioning to create an eye-catching cover that conveys the grime music genre.
The document describes the process of designing the cover and contents pages for a music magazine focused on the grime genre. Key steps included:
1. Importing a photo of a brick wall into Photoshop and editing it to create a colorful background for the magazine.
2. Designing the masthead in InDesign using a bold font in colors that complemented the background.
3. Placing the feature articles prominently on the left third of the cover to attract readers' attention on store shelves.
4. Including images, article previews, and using consistent colors and fonts throughout to maintain a cohesive design style across the magazine pages.
The document discusses four font experiments for a music magazine masthead design in Photoshop. The first experiment uses a gradient blue background with light blue glow to connote an electronic genre. The second uses a dark blue gradient background with embossing and inner shadow to make the text appear 3D and glow stick-like for an EDM genre. The third uses blue text with inner and outer shadows to seem 3D. The fourth uses an advanced 3D Repoussé technique with color overlay and glow to choose a futuristic font linking to a Cyber genre.
The document describes the process the author went through to create a teaser poster. They started with an original design but had to deviate from it as it was not working. They tried different fonts and layouts until finding one that looked right. Feedback also led them to further changes to improve the balance of elements and make it less crowded. I created a front cover and content page for a music magazine using Microsoft Publisher and InDesign. For the front cover, I edited photos to have bright colors representing stage lights and added a sticker to imply fresh news. The band names are in different colors to avoid monotony. For the content page, I used the same fonts and colors as the masthead to link the pages and cropped a photo over a white font for visibility. Page references are in varying large colors to help readers navigate while boxes draw attention.

Storytelling For The Web: Integrate Storytelling in your Design ProcessChiara Aliotta
In this slides I explain how I have used storytelling techniques to elevate websites and brands and create memorable user experiences. You can discover practical tips as I showcase the elements of good storytelling and its applied to some examples of diverse brands/projects..
2. A variety of sample logos
These are a variety of logo examples I have done over the last couple years. The
designs were done using a blend of Photoshop and Illustrator tools. They represent
customized projects from clients, a logo redesign, resort logo and my personal logo.
3. Inside Brochure Information Outside Brochure Information
This is just one of the brochures I have designed. It was done with a combination of
Illustrator and Photoshop tools. It is a mailer style brochure that was designed for a
resort of my creation. All images and fonts were chosen to give this brochure a feel
of Italy.
4. My Personalized Stationary Guitar Stationary
This stationary was designed for my own This stationary was designed for a musician friend of
personalized logo package. It consists of a selection mine. It was also created in Photoshop by blending
of images blended together in Photoshop using a different guitar image, a piano key image, and a
different blending modes and layer styles. I also flame texture faded into the background. I left the
enlarged my logo and faded it into the center for an poem that was written on this example to show
added touch. how well it unifies with the background.
5. As part of a past project, I was
asked to take a brand and create
some visual ad concepts. These
are a couple of examples I did
using ‘NIKE’ as my chosen brand.
All these designs were created in
Photoshop using a variety of
tools, blending modes and artistic
layer effects.
6. For another project, I was asked
to take a popular product and
create some synergy ads. These
are a couple of examples I did
using ‘PEPSI’. The base of these
designs were created in
Photoshop by blending selected
images together using layer
blending modes. Then I inserted
the proper text style and placed it
fittingly within the image.
7. These are full front to back book cover designs. Both covers were created entirely in Photoshop using a
variety of tools. Images and fonts were creatively selected to represent each story; while the idea for these
series covers comes from horror writer Richard Matheson. Backgrounds were built by using blend modes
to fuse images together. Other tools that were used were eraser tool, lens flare effect and effects from the
styles window. The black silhouette was created using the paths technique in which I outlined the woman
using the pen tool and filled the selection with black. I then blended it into the book cover background. For
the ‘Angels Eyes’ cover I also brought in some paint brush effects from Illustrator. I used the pre-created
styles window to bring them out in the design. Both covers are meant to be similar in design yet unique
enough to represent their own individual story.
8. The ‘Men of Horror’ logo was created using a the rectangle
tool in Illustrator with an added paint brush pattern. It was
then brought into Photoshop as a smart object. The drip style
font and rectangle were warped slightly and grouped together.
The small font was also incorporated into it for definition.
For these book covers I was only required to design the front cover and the spine. These covers were created
using Adobe Illustrator. Since this is a book series of horror writers, the design were meant to be similar in nature.
The font, logo, author signature and photo were blended into the background. A drop shadow effect was added
to each photo to make it stand out. For each author a specifically selected photo was chose from one of their
past books and faintly faded into the background by lowering the opacity. Under each authors photo I also added
a quote that each man had given in past interviews. Along side each author is a faint description of who the
author is and their writing style. Each book cover was meant to be similar in design but represent each author
distinctively.
9. This poster was created in Photoshop by beginning with a series of images and
blending modes to create the background. The Borders around each picture and the
poster frame were created in Illustrator using different paint brush styles. They were
then brought in Photoshop as smart objects. The fonts were distorted and shaped to
give affect and add character to the poster.
10. This poster was designed in Photoshop, beginning with the background created by
blending a photo with a textured background. I used a arrangement of different images I
felt best represented the Italian feel. I used a variety of blending modes and font
transformation to give it a pleasing appearance. The poster frame and splash design
behind the bottles were brush designs brought in from Illustrator and merged with the
design using blend modes.
11. This is a personalized greeting card I designed specifically for a close friend’s birthday. Since we have similar
style, I knew I could get away with created the dark green theme that he would enjoy. Since he is a musician, I
used images and photos that best represented him. This card was completely created using Photoshop tools.
Each background was built up by using a variety of images and photos. I used blending modes that accurately
unified images and created different textures. I carefully chose the fonts, warp their appearance and then added
different text styles.
12. This is a simple postcard made using both Photoshop and Illustrator programs. For the front of the
postcard I used Photoshop blending modes to combine 3 images for the background. I added the “the
Rave Eagles Club” image to represent where the show had taken place and using a carefully chosen font I
added the name of the musician and the date the show took place. I slightly warped the “Sully Erna” to
give the name more character. The frame was made by using the Illustrator paint brush tools. The back of
the postcard was laid out in Illustrator and the images brought in and placed as necessary. The post office
stamp was designed using Illustrator ellipse tool, the pencil tool, a specifically chosen paint brush style and
font.
13. To begin my brand I designed a simple using Adobe Illustrator and the
background in Photoshop. I wanted to the logo to be simple yet stylish. I then
incorporated this logo into all my advertisements and promotional pieces. Each
piece was designed in Photoshop using a variety of techniques. I used different
blending modes, the eraser tool and transformed images by skew and
perspective. Splash and paint effects were made by using different paint brush
styles from Illustrator and bringing them into Photoshop as smart objects. Then I
blended them as needed with the rest of the designs.
14. Tori Amos @ Riverside Theatre
This poster series was created using
Photoshop. For each poster I brought in a
variety of images combined them using
blending modes and used the eraser tool for
more precise merging. For each poster I
used carefully selected fonts. I changed the
font colors and orientation as necessary for
more impact.
