2. Ideas for presentation.
 After looking at various
amounts of magazine content
pages I found these two pages
most interesting.
 However, I then analysed both
pages and came to conclude
that I want my contents page to
look a bit more like the VIBE
magazine. This is because it had
the same genre as my music
magazine so this is why it
appealed to me most.

3. Contents font and title.
 VIBE magazine broke down the
‘contents’ word down, so I wanted to
then use that same idea and use it
for my music magazine.
 I didn’t want the style looking
exactly the same as the VIBE
magazine so I kept the ‘CO’ straight
and the ‘TS’. However, I
experimented and placed the ‘NTEN’
diagonally to give it a more unique
look but also because it was parallel
to her back this made it more
interesting. I used Helvetica size 90
and in bold to make it stand out.

4. Typefaces on the page
 I noticed the dominant title and
how there was a catchy title for
each page this is done to attract
the audiences attention so that
they buy the magazine and ant to
read on inside.
 Furthermore, I acknowledged that
when it included who the
photographer, stylised or producer
it was written in a different font
and in capital letters. I however
developed that idea and wrote
those features in yellow and in
‘Orator Std’

5. Photography - Images to choose from.
 I had taken many pictures in order
to chose the most appropriate and
suitable picture for the contents
page. I took them in different
angles and compositions, with
different camera effects. This made
it easier to edit and play with on
Photoshop
 Overall, I chose the image at the
top because I like the rich reds in
the image but also the way her
wrist is gently resting on her laps
to create a more seductive
implication.

6. Chosen image.
 Finally I chose this picture
because I liked the composition
of her sitting. This composition
was most suitable for the
contents page it was also
appealing for me to be able to
fit writing on the page
according to the way her body
is lined. Also I like how the
image has a sharp look showing
each feature of her clothing,
accessories and facial makeup .

7. Editing using Photoshop.
 Firstly to remove the background I
used the ‘Quick Selection Tool’ to
select the background.
 I then used the ‘Gradient Selecting
Tool’ to choose the colour I wanted
the background to be. This allowed
me to get the exact same red as
the image; this helped to blend the
image in with the background. I
believe the red is a rich, sharp
colour which gives the image a
more vibrant and bold look.

8. Continuing to edit.
 Background completed. I used the
‘Diamond Gradient’ to make the
background more interesting
rather than just having a single
colour all across.
 After adjusting the background I
wanted to use the ‘Spotlight Tool’
to put all the attention onto my
music artist rather than the sofa
and the background; with this tool
I was able to achieve a more
realistic and effective effect by
making the reds much more richer
and bolder in appearance.

9.  Here, is a clear file of how
Quark looks when its first
opened. All the tools around
the page are used in order to
create the realistic magazine
look.
 First of all I placed the image
onto Quark this helped me
acknowledge where all my
writing would go. And how I
would place it so that it fits the
magazine page appropriately.

10. QuarkTools and knowing what they do.
This tool allowed me to move things around
the page, in order to view where typefaces
looked best.
If I wished to have a frame around any
textbox or image then I would use this tool
to create that.
This tool can be used to create a shape of
my own if I chose to or even just have a
line going through my work or something.
This allowed to create text
boxes.
This tool means I can create
different shapes or
different sizes also.
This tool allowed me to
change the colours of my
typefaces also it allowed
me to even create my own
colours if I didn’t like any of
the colours that were
originally there.
Changes fonts, Size, Bold/italic, Font colour, Changing the way my paragraphs
are written.

11. Continuing to use Quark.
 began to include text onto the
magazine page. I put on the
‘contents' title, page number,
date, and picture details (the
photographers name, the place
it was taken and the date it was
taken).
 I put the following context in
smaller fonts (10pt) as they’re
not very important in
comparison to other contexts
on the page.

12. Continuing to use Quark.
 I started to produce more context onto the
contents page filling up the space where there
was no object apart from the red background.
This made the page look more like a music
magazine and more fuller.
 I used different fonts for the subtitles this
being; Zapfino the font size being 34pt Bold.
 The writing in white is about the information in
the inside pages of my music magazine. I used
Helvetica, size: 12pt.
 I used a different font for the description of
photographers, stylists, written articles etc.
(this is mentioned after writing information
about inside pages) I used Orator Std. I used a
yellow colour to give the page a diverse look
with more than two colours (white and red).

13. Preview.
 After successful completing my
music magazine I noticed my music
magazine looked a lot like the VIBE
magazine this makes me believe my
creativity of achieving a magazine
which looks so much like a magazine
which is published and distributed
worldwide, makes me believe I am
able to produce high quality and a
high standard magazine page.
 Since it looks a lot like VIBE magazine
I want to change some elements of
it. Such as the font for the ‘Fashion’
‘Features’ and ‘New Releases’

14. Making further changes.
 I made more changes because I
realised the typeface lacked
originality compared to the VIBE
magazine.
 I now used Malayalam MN this
meant it would be unique and
slightly different in appearance
to the VIBE music magazine. I
used the size 44 pt because it
needs to be a lot bigger and
stand out in comparison to the
other text on the page.

15. REDO – FinalView.
 I removed the date, due to
research I acknowledged that no
other magazine provides a date on
their contents page; therefore, it
felt irrelevant to use.
 I also changed the typeface of
‘Fashion, Features and New
Releases’ I felt although I had
given the page some originality
that it still needed to stand out
more and have consistency in
relation to the typefaces on the
Front Cover.
